The Royal Standard in Greenwich

We love this pub, which is our local. We just want to put in a word for the staff, particularly Layton who is an exceptional. Bar person if that is the right terminology. He is cheerful, helpful and always has a smile on his face. We love coming here and he makes it special experience.

Lovely little pub tucked away from the village. Staff are very very friendly, I just had a quick pint. Will definitely be returning :)

I love this pub! It’s so different to the others in the area. Has a much more local/community feel. The team and service are 10/10. Visited yesterday with my partner and we had a Sunday Roast! Was seasoned, hot and the beef was cooked just the way I like it. It’s dog friendly and has a nice atmosphere.

We were after a local Friday night supper, decided to try the nearest pub. My wife and I went for the fish and chips, when it arrived it was almost laughable. Both of our pieces of fish looked like they’d been through a Monty Python fish-slapping sketch, and were broken into pieces. This may have been deliberate because the pieces were scattered about the plate covering the paltry serving of chips. The mushy peas looked like chef had done that Masterchef smearing thing, how they’d managed that in a little side pot I can only guess. Maybe they knew we were on a diet and shouldn’t have ordered it so kept the portion size down. What there was of it tasted ok, but come on guys, you can do better than this.

Took part in a quiz night and had the most amazing fun. Fantastic atmosphere and great choice of drinks. Decor and location are simply perfect for friends and family and the pub has a sizable smoking area and ample parking.

Visited The Royal Standard for the first time, for drinks and lunch. Very good service and excellent food. My wife and I each had haddock and chips which was perfectly cooked. The tatare sauce was the best we have ever tasted with just the right amount of capers. We will definitely return in the future.

Went to the Vicars Knickers quiz night Tues 2nd Aug. What a fab evening we laughed danced stretch our brainpower. Friendly atmosphere great bar staff crazy Vicars daughter and Leigh on the Dec's. GGet along there you won't regret it

The atmosphere was magical, friendly people, pleasant live music, smell of flowers, helpful staff, affordable and tasty beer and wine. I was served very fast, and food was prepared also quickly, boss burger was the best I have tried! Thanks to the team for such a great experience!

I was passing after visiting family and fancied lunch. I had eaten here about a year before and remember it being excellent. I was not disappointed this time either. Friendly helpful staff serving tasty home food. It’s worth going for the atmosphere alone, the food is a very welcome added bonus. I will be back. Thank you.

The staff are friendly here and make things easy. The food is good quality and worth returning for. Drinks aren’t the cheapest but this is due to the location I expect. They don’t take cash payments and so you will need to use a card.

Had the best new years eve that I can remember this year at the Royal standard. As always great friendly service but the DJ was fantastic! She had wveryone up dancing all night long! Thank you Caroline... you really know how to throw a party!

Hooray for The Royal Standard! We had a fantastic Christmas lunch there this week. As always, the food was delicious and the portion sizes were ample. My family and I were really welcomed by the staff, Caroline and Mark especially took good care of us. We love coming to this pub and will definitely be back again soon. Happy New Year!

This family run pub is such a warm welcoming pub. Selection of food is great. We had a selection of starters, that were so delicous. The added bonus is that the landlord is just as appetising as the food.

Super friendly pub with the added bonus of excellent food and regular music nights. I’ve visited many times for Sunday lunch, to hear musical selections from some of London’s finest DJs and to Vintage Clothes sales. Always welcoming and buzzing. A great place both for the local community and visitors from further afield. It has become a destination to hear quality music. Love it.

The Royal Standard is a statuesque, super friendly pub and perhaps it is why the near location is all called the Blackheath Standard. The Tuesday night quiz is run by an extraordinarily lively and funny scouser but any night is worth the trip.

Sunday lunch - lovely lazy jazz, best nachos ever, great friendly staff, love it!! Landlord runs a wonderful pub, just how it should be. Well done to him and his staff.

Visited this pub after moving my son into Uni accommodation nearby. We were warmly welcomed by the landlady, we now know was Caroline. The staff were equally friendly and the service fabulous. We each alphas a different starter and main course. The duck salad was a favourite as was the chicken and ham hock pie. But will work my way through the menu! I would highly recommend and we will certainly book here on every visit to my son. Worth it!

Our son just moved nearby for Uni, we will be regular visitors as great pub with great staff and food. Good value and nice atmosphere. Recommended.

I have been to this pub a few times and really enjoyed it , nicely decorated and reasonable priced drinks. Came here with my parents for birthday lunch and it was very disappointing and a waste of money. Everything i ordered on the menu they didn't have, the server was very unhelpful and just kept laughing. Ended up ordering a roast dinner. Arrived within less than 5 minutes, not very warm. The chicken very very pink! When we asked for this to be reheated got a very rude response. My mum risked it and went for desert (3rd choice as nothing else was available) apple crumble that we all agreed tasted like chemicals. Not sure what happened here but my opinion of this pub has completely changed.

Went along to the Royal Standard for a special 1940’s/50’s night with DJ Miss Aloha, which was part of the Blackheath Vintage Trail. Absolutely fabulous night, great floor for dancing, excellent music, friendly staff, great food and fun atmosphere. Looking forward to going again.
