My wife and I visited the Royal Oak with having an evening meal. Unfortunately, the menu choice was very limited, so we decided to go elsewhere. We were told that the menu choice was limited during the weekdays. I don't think we'll be returning very soon. We had a drink and left.

Food was really very good, had Sunday lunch yesterday. Service not bad but needs a little improvement, although all staff very polite. But what I didn’t like was the service charge which automatically put in your bill. We asked it to be taken off and this was done immediately and without any problems, It is not good to have to ask for it be taken off it spoils the dining experience, it should not be on there in the first place. I normally leave a tip when I go to pubs or restaurants but I like it to be my decision

Sat outside on a hot sunny afternoon. Overlooking the river Dee and the amazing cobbled bridge. Charming village and due to the pub's location is an ideal spot to enjoy a drink or two.

Sunday lunches were advertised on the board for £10. Staff failed to inform us that there was a supplement of £4 extra if you ordered lamb and that there was a service charge of £2.80. What started of appearing to be a decent value for money lunch for 2 at £20 turned out costing £30.80. In my opinion not good value at all

Visited late on a Sunday afternoon. We both had Bird & Beast (turkey & beef) dinner. Beef appeared to be pre sliced and turkey appeared to be not carved straight from a joint. Veg and potatoes were fine. Paid £15 each for the meals.

Kim and I, together with our dogs Monty and Stanley, called in on the off-chance for a meal on August Bank Holiday Monday. The bar managers were welcoming, and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Fresh water provided for the dogs and brought to the table with two dog biscuits. Kim and I had Ciabattas with bacon, brie and cranberry with a small salad, coleslaw and fries which were tasty and well presented. A lovely pub excellently staffed. Thank you.😀

We had a great dinner and a very enjoyable time at the Royal Oak. The Steak and Ale pie was excellent. The pub itself is low key and really hits the mark. If you haven’t been in a while, I highly suggest you visit soon. If you’ve never been, head on over. Bangor-on-Dee is a beautiful village, right on the River Dee, with great views and scenic walks. The Oak has outdoor seating too. Thanks.

Second time that we have visited in 10 days. Fantastic meal with a menu that had options that suited 3 different generations. Service was excellent, food was tasty, hot and plentiful. Unpretentious but comfortable and authentic setting. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the menu on the website is VERY out of date so don't let that put you off. We will be back as it was an extremely enjoyable meal.

Abysmal - The Royal Oak claims to serve "quality food". It does not. We visited and ordered two philly steak sandwiches and chips. The meal was well presented and the waiting staff were excellent but the steak was in the main chunks of fat and gristle. How a chef could have carved it and served it in a sandwich- defies belief ! We pointed this out to the waitress who subsequently returned from the kitchen with a half hearted apology from the kitchen pointing out that steak can be fatty (in other words we didn`t know what we were talking about and should have been grateful for a sandwich of fat and gristle) , though an undertaking was made to raise it with the supplier. Quite what consolation this was- I am unsure ! We paid the bill and left -never to return.

Extortionately expensive and miserable bar tender. £12.45 for a medium Pinot Grigio and a pint of Guinness! After reading all the very good reviews about this pub, we decided to pay a visit. I wish we hadn't bothered. The staff member behind the bar on the Wednesday evening August 2022 was very grumpy. Hardly a word spoken and no hint of a smile. Then to be charged over £12 for two drinks was rediculous. Needless to say, we won't be visiting again and I definitely won't be recommending to others.

Came to sit outside for a drink and when we went in the boy behind the bar said he’s too busy to serve us 2 drinks, we went outside and went back in 10 minutes later and asked again and he said no once again. We sat outside again and watched 2 other couples come in and be served drinks in the time we were sat there that were also sitting outside. Terrible service wouldn’t bother going as they seem to pick and choose who they serve.

This has to be the worst pub I’ve been in for years, Mothers Day set menu, total rubbish, 3 tiny prawns and 2 little bits of crayfish for £9 after a 40 minute wait. An hour later the mains hadn’t arrived so we asked for the bill. We argued it and the manager ( a very rude chap ) said the cost of food had gone up, idiot!!! The pub was dirty and cobwebs everywhere, just rubbish, avoid at all costs…

Staff tried their best but 60mins wait for main courses (which were okay.. and I mean only just okay.. which surprised me having read the glowing reviews) and 40mins for desserts (soupy ice cream) just isn't on. Given the reviews was expecting great things. Croquettes tasted as though they were cooked in old oil, burger was dry and bland, chips were chunky but only just cooked inside. Both chicken dishes were dry and disappointing. Chocolate torte was like over-cooked brownie round the edge and one had a hair in the middle, had to ask for it to be taken off the bill, wasn't offered. Service was 50/50, lady was lovely and attentive, young chap didn't seem to know what was going on.

Tucked away in a picturesque hillside setting, this pub offers a stunning view overlooking the aqueduct, making it a perfect spot to unwind. The outdoor decking area is a highlight, providing an ideal vantage point to take in the beautiful surroundings. While we didn’t sample the food, the overall ambiance and upkeep of the pub were impressive. The facilities, particularly the clean and well-maintained toilets, were a notable plus. Service was both prompt and welcoming, and the pub boasts an excellent selection of beers. I opted for a refreshing Moretti this time. If you find yourself in the area, it's well worth stopping by for a pint or two to enjoy the atmosphere.

While killing time in Wrexham stumbled across this little cafe tucked away at the entrance to a arcade which leads to Wrexham Indoor Market. The patisserie is on street level but upstairs there is a little cafe which served a delicious breakfast just as your mum would make you when you were a schoolboy. Big chunks of toast followed by scrambled eggs. The coffee was excellent all for less than £10.
