Chirk Chinese - The Steak Bar in Wrexham

We're on holiday just outside Chirk and wanted fish and chips. There's only a Chinese menu in the window yet outside it says fish and chips available....and its called Steak Bar....I wasn't hopeful as the shop itself is pretty basic and the cost was £7 (for fish and chips??It's £13 back home in Essex). Though the portion was smaller than usual, it was still more than enough, freshly cooked and really tasty. The lady on the counter was lovely too. Highly recommended.

We've been in to this shop for dinner several times ( it was recommended to us by friends ) We love it, perfect every time. It's a special trip out from Llangollen every time but so worth it Thank you 😊

Dreadful, very poor quality food. Salt n pepper ribs in thick soggy tasteless batter, the various meats in the house special chow mein were slimey pieces of over cooked indistinguishable flavour in a gloopy slop, greasy spring roll with very little filling and thick soggy batter around ground chicken in the sweet and sour. I wonder if the owners have ever eaten their food. Extremely disappointing waste of money.

Worst chinese I've ever experienced Never going there again

Very poor food, threw it in bin after a couple of mouthfuls.

We loved the food from here and it was absolutely rammed with customers when I was in, that should tell you all you need to know. Don't let the appearance put you off you don't eat what the building looks like, you won't be disappointed

Takeaway in poor condition, dilapidated , needs updating. Food bland, all tasted the same. salty. No pork in Sweet n sour balls, black bean sauce tasteless, spring rolls, greasy and soft. Very disappointing for the price. Probably the worst Chinese I’ve ever tasted.

Could fault it to be honest, good quality fish and chips at great prices

Been there 3 times now and each time old cold chips and cash only. Portion small too. I’ll not go again.

Food is amazing, its the only food my friend wants when she comes over from NZ. Mr & Mrs Lee are just the best, such lovely people and amazing food. Mrs Lee knows all the locals and is so kind, would definitely recommend.

Great Chinese takeaway away restaurant the food is fresh and very tasty.

Is obviously very popular as it was very busy when I visited. Seems okay but my big complaint is that the sweet and sour chicken was just dry pieces of deep fried chicken with a tub of plain sweet and sour sauce. Not a proper sweet and sour dish. Portion sizes are smaller than most other take aways too. Also, they said it would be about 20-30 mins but took about 45 mins.

Mrs Lee is always very welcoming and the salt & pepper chips are amazing

All is ok other than NEED a protein based option for vegetarians other than just Foo Yung, such as beancurd / tofu dishes. Been waiting over 20 years for this to be added to the menu so thought it’s about time to suggest it!

Always a good meal from Mrs Lee's. The only fault is they are so popular they are always busy.

Lived in Chirk for years and always had Friday night supper from Mrs Lee's. Moved away a couple years ago and now live in Drury (Buckley) and we cannot find a Chinese takeaway to match the experience at Mrs Lee's, "half past 10"

Would give zero stars if I could. Fish is very small and tastes more like prawn toast/prawn crackers (guess they use the same oil fryer). Chip portion was also disappointingly small and what!!! £1 for a tub of gravy!!! Much nicer food and better portions down the road at The Star chippy.

Shoutout to cam Thompson he is the hardest worker there.

Went at 5 o'clock when they opened , chips were stale and obviously warmed up from the night before, been lots of times to miss Lee's Chinese and it's gradually got worse won't be going back such a shame

The best Chinese takeaway around. This is no longer the closet takeaway to me...not even almost infact but I still go here! The food is amazing value for money as well as tasty! Mrs Lee and all the staff are lovely.
