Nice atmosphere in pub on a Saturday afternoon Garden is lovely with good views. Good history with the pub & nice to see that . Visited again Sunday. Wouldn’t overate the roast dinner, my lamb was ok , my husband had beef one slice was nice the other slice was the burnt end of the joint that he couldn’t cut , which I wouldn’t serve up. And definitely don’t waste an extra £3.50 on cauli cheese unless you like cauli floating in stringy milk with no flavour at all. Very disappointed with the Sunday roast.

We booked as we came on a Friday night and it was busy. Two in our group had the fish pie which was excellent but the side vegetables were undercooked. My daughter chose the Welsh lamb kofta and I chose the "Jemima Pitchfork" battered cod. Again very nice apart from the undercooked chips. I suspect the chips were oven cooked and the vegetables were frozen. Such a pity as it took the edge of what was potentially a very nice meal. Staff pleasant and friendly. Service good.

Staff nice enough, food good pub grub which is smashing after a day of walking. In the beer garden (which is really nice) there were one couple, with the guy wearing tracksuit sportswear running up to me, to pretend hit me for a reaction which was apparently funny while i was just reading my book, I can handle myself but can do without a fight out of nowhere for no reason and all that that brings. And then calling their local mates to make matters worse if I try to defend myself. Went inside, and was then monitored by another group of young men and women who spoke very loudly towards me that, yeah hes gay, yeah deffo...which went on for a while Really nice. ...thanks....I did think we were beyond that these days...and I'm not sure how they derived the assumption apart that I wasn't old and wasn't wearing sportswear. As I say, the pub itself is ok and can be nice. But be weary of some of the chavy regulars if you are a lone traveller and easy pickings.

Absolutely no hesitation in recommending this business to this particular platform.. We arranged to meet friends here and accordingly pre booked a table for a meal here.. On arrival, the staff were very welcoming and we were directed to our table, but as the weather was so nice, we asked if we could possibly eat outside.. This was not a problem.. As for the ambience ?, out the back is a large outside area, parr of which is under cover .. It is a lovely space to sit and chat with a sea view, and on our day of visiting, there was Dj playing reggae style music, then other styles until around 7pm.. The cusine was excellent. It wasn't like pub grub that one may usually expect in such a business . No, the cusine was very tasty and looked great as well.. So if you're in the area and want an excellent pub to enjoy quality cusine and various craft beers( other drinks also available as would be expected here..), I highly recommend this business ( pub), too this review platform

Had we only stopped for drinks I would have happily given a five star rating, however both my wife and I ordered Piri Piri Chicken, there was no piri piri glaze on the chicken as stated on the menu, just hot sauce in a small container, furthermore the half chicken had clearly been cooked in a deep fat fryer and still pink in the centre, it's a shame as everything else was so good.

Looking from a vegetarian point of view my portion of sausages and mash was quite small, visually it didn't look great, however I can not fault the taste. The sauce was delicious and I would like much more of it. Maybe served separately? I didn't like the fact that sausages were covered in it. I would prefer to eat it with vegetables. And now if we compare this dish with my husband's- he had peri peri chicken (half of it), and lots of sides which I would love to have with mine, like corn on the cob, coleslaw, fresh salad. I tasted all of them and they were delicious! Salad dressing was awesome too. And let's compare the prices- half of the chicken plus sides £17. Two sausages with some mash and broccoli £15. Doesn't add up. My husband would give a 5 star review. I'm giving 4.

For my daughter i ordered a kids glamorgan sausage and it was listed to be a roast with yorkshire pudding, parsnips and a range of fresh vegetables. when it arrived, we were served a singular carrot singular potato and a sausage (which was actually nice). i was shocked to say the least but they said vegetables were on the way so i relaxed and waited. they did not bring the vegetable and in the mean time the food was getting cold. when we were eventually served the vegetables, there were no honey parsnips, no brocolli only some freezer bag of mixed vegetables. in shock, we asked where the fresh vegetables were and our yorkshire pudding but they said they ran out which we were not told when ordering. overall, a very sad bland meal but the sausage was tasty.

Went here on a Sunday evening for dinner. We chose it because 1. we've not been here for food before and 2. the reviews looked really good. I must say I was very disappointed. We ordered a burger and chips, belly pork with fenel and shallots, and roasted veg and polenta bake. Every dish had something bad about it. The chips were tepid, the veg bake had limp undercooked cauliflower, and for a reasonably large piece of belly pork, there was hardly any meat on it. I know that belly pork has layers of meat and fat, but there was barely 2 mouthfuls of meat, 90% of the pork was fat! The pile of fat I left was bigger than the pile of mashed potato on my plate! When I told the waitress, her response was "Oh, I'll tell the chef". She didn't come back with any response after she'd taken the plate away. No offer of a refund or apology, nothing. I can't believe that the chef would cook or serve such a poor piece of meat. We definitely won't be going there again for food and won't be reccomending it to anyone either.

A suggestion on your service level. Most of your customers today were pensioners, who found it difficult to get in and out of the bench seating. To save them trouble why don't you supply them with cutlery wrapped up in a serviette when serving the food. My husband had a soup today with no spoon supplied! Even though there is a notice saying to collect your own cutlery and condiments,it comes over as quite rude and unhelpful to be told you have to get your own. The condiments could be placed in small pots on the tables, as most cafe's do. Also please could you tell your serving staff to be a bit more obliging. You need to improve on your service level to keep up your award winning status.
