Place is so inviting ..what's nicer than watching the sea ..while drinking coffee and eating cake..staff are so friendly

Popped in on the off chance as Cafe on the beach was not doing anything we fancied. We got a lovely welcome from the staff, and even better, they allowed dogs inside. Nice varied menu breakfast options till 11.30, but we were there for lunch, all served quickly and presented very professionally and tasted really good. Fantastic views over the golf course, which it is part of we could have sat outside but a bit windy. We will be back very soon.

The view of the beach ⛱️ was stunning. Breakfast delicious and staff helpful and genuinely friendly. Kay was very helpful. The lad serving was very pleasant, too.

This cafe has amazing views over Newport estuary - a fantastic spot, especially on a dry day when you can sit on the terrace area, but there was plenty of room inside too. Lunch was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We walked over from Newport town, which we'd highly recommend. Walk from Newport centre down to the estuary and upstream along to the main bridge on the road from Newport to Moylgrove, cross the bridge, so you're on the golf course side, then go along the estuary path towards the sea from the bridge and take a path up to the right through the golf course on the public footpath, to the little road of houses, with the golf club at the end. It's a lovely walk on good paths, and the final section on the dead-end road of houses by the golf course, hardly any cars.

Hmm, about 15 quid or something like that for sandwich and chips. Aside from silly pricing and a few tables not being able to get a bottle of mayo with anything in it, it's a lovely place with young but courteous and friendly staff and great views. Nice and clean too.

Stopped here for lunch with my sister. Absolutely stunning location, great service, really delicious food and dog friendly.

Found it by searching Google Maps very impressed. Great food cracking alcohol free Guinness will definitely be back. A little pricey on the food, but the experience was worth it.

Great value for money, provided a bowl of chips that could have fed a small village for a mere 4 pound. Truly incredible stuff and F1 pit stop service. Big downside was that there were a lot of golfers in the area, made it difficult to eat while I was laughing so hard (at the golfers). Lovely Sunday roast. Cheers, best of luck with the 18th hole. It's a nice place, with a good view, but I was immediately put off eating when through the kitchen door I saw a woman lick her fingers whilst preparing food. The lad doing front of house was excellent and provided good friendly service. Food was OK, though a tad over priced for the area. Coffee was small and weak.

Love location on the hillside overlooking the bay. Sited next to the golf club. Good parking area. Food excellent with good service. Found by accident but we know where it is now. We will be back

Have been here many times in the past, even just for a coffee or chill out after a walk. Great place staff are always very friendly. First Sunday lunch and portion size were good and left full. Price is a bit steep at £16 adults portion, but I can understand if paying for value.

Lovely place to stop for a bite to eat. Always great cake and a nice if short lunch menu.

2nd time we’ve had sunday lunch here. booked and asked for a specific table in the non dog area which was ready when we arrived. so nice that there is an area free from dogs. fast friendly service from the young waitress. fabulous soft moist pork sunday lunch, really generous portions extra gravy on the side. well cooked mix of vegetables. we asked for a yorkshire pudding each which was a mistake. although they were nice the cost was an additional £1 each which we felt was excessive in an otherwise good value for money sunday lunch. won’t be asking again!! the view from the cafe which is part of the golf club is really spectacular. drinks selection is ok and we weren’t rushed off the table even though we didn’t have dessert. very enjoyable sunday lunch, keep it up cat rock.

The view is amazing However the service was disappointing. I understand we arrived after they stopped serving food but we would have been more likely to stay and spend money if the staff working there had been a bit more enthusiastic. We went to a local brewery instead and had a lovely time.

A lovely place. Great food, friendly staff, a dog friendly area. We went for breakfast a couple of times on our holiday to the area. The Cat Rock breakfast roll is amazing.

AMAZINGGGGG!!!! We bumped into here cause we were camping and we did not have food. It was a perfect choice for us.

Very beautiful location. Possibly could do with extending menu a little. I seem to remember there was a choice between sandwiches, baked spuds or 'dirty dishes' which is essentially chips covered in curry or such like. Staff were friendly and helpful and dogs were welcome.

A great place to shelter from the winds on a sunny day. Great atmosphere. Dog friendly part inside and on the benches outside. Menu was limited but the food was very nice and plenty of it. Nice to chill over looking the beach.

Great views from this restaurant over Newport bay and the golf course. Very comfortable surroundings. You do not need to be a member to eat here. The food was filling, delicious and nicely presented. Would visit again.

First visit for lunch with a girlfriend on a very dramatic weather day. The cafe is inside the golf club, it’s roomy, dog friendly both inside and out, relaxed and set up to provide glorious views over Newport bay. We ate off the specials menu and whilst I was underwhelmed when my Feta salad arrived, it did actually taste lovely. Chips were hot which is always a good test! Lots of staff on point but as the cafe got busier things slowed down and became muddled and we had to chase for coffees and cake. However. staff were attentive and did engage and apologise for small oversights. By the time we left the place was full of walkers, dog walkers etc. Good to see on a rainy Monday lunchtime. Will definitely be back, with the dog and most likely on a sunnier day.

Great restaurant for to get together. Joined the group from West Wales Amputee Group for lunch and afternoon chat. Lovely sandwiches.

We visited last week for breakfast. The setting is beautiful, over looking a gorgeous beach. Full English breakfast was £11 which we’re happy to pay, but a bit disappointed with just one sausage and one egg. Bread was burnt and one pot of beans to share between two. Expected a bit more for our money. No mushrooms.. but seen other reviewers had mushrooms? No one came to check how our food was or we would of mentioned about the burnt toast (which was quite obvious, being black) We both left hungry! Interior was nice, just a shame about food quality and quantity for the money.

Good food and with a fabulous view

Headed to the cafe at 1330 on a Thursday first simply breathtaking views overlooking Newport bay. Plenty of parking. Very friendly staff, we arrived in 3 groups over 20 mins and the staff patiently waited until we all ready, drinks arrived quickly. The food. I ordered the duck and if I’d have known how it was to be served I’d have probably chosen the burger. But I’m so glad I ordered it I tried it and it was delicious it worked so well and was amazing. I will definitely order again if we go again. For desert we had cakes and they were all displayed, actually had no clue what 2 of the cakes were, but the staff were quick to pop over and explain which was which, yet again really yummy and massive portions. A really great lunch.

Great views, lovely spot overlooking Newport Sands and the beautiful coast. Walked around for breakfast from Newport. The person who took our order was very friendly, one of the other staff members was really quite rude. There were no pancakes (how can you have no pancakes - flour, eggs,milk!!) so we were offered waffles instead (packet obviously). Everything arrived within 5 minutes. It was OK....just OK. Not sure why so many 5 stars....average... I'm guessing the view as the food was nothing special at all..

Visited Cat Rock Cafe for breakfast around 11am and it was fantastic. The tables overlook the golf course and have a beautiful view of the Pembrokeshire coast. The staff were lovely, the service very fast, and the food delicious. Really reasonable prices too - I will definitely come back!

Service always good. Enjoyed the Duck dirty fries. Went back on Sunday, when menu was mainly Sunday roast. We had tuna crunch roll and chips. Very disappointed this time. Hardly any filling, smallish roll. At £10 expensive. We will always use as still great views and service.

Use the cafe when ever staying nearby. Service very friendly and helpful. Menu good for snacks and lunch. We had tasty sandwiches, but maybe they could offer a choice of salad instead of chips as a side. Don't always want double carbs.

A great breakfast, really well cooked full Welsh. Tasty local sausages and bacon along with all the other ingredients. Really good local Teifi coffee. The service was friendly and professional and the tweaks to our orders were perfectly executed 👍.

After a delightful walk from Newport, we came across Links Golf Club, where Cat Rock Cafe is sited. A wonderful cafe with great sea views. We were led to a window view table and on deciding what we wanted for lunch, received excellent service. The food was well cooked, presentable and delicious, and all at a reasonable price. We will call again the next time we decide to walk this part of the coastal path.

Popped in here for lunch today with my wife. I have the Cajun burger with fries and a lovely pint of lager. My long-suffering wife had the dirty chips with the brisket, beef topping and cheese. All food was lovely and portions were generous. Special mention to Meg who served us today. She was very polite and her service was excellent. The place also lets you take your dogs into which is brilliant as it’s just next to the beach. It’s a bit off the beaten Track But well worth the effort to get to the venue. Will definitely visit again

Called in for a Sunday roast after a very windy and cold walk on the beach. The service was outstanding, personable and professional and the food was just amazing. One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had. Would highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

Nice little gem. Spot of "light lunch" before we headed down to the beach. We ordered the Cat Dirty Fries and the Fish and Chip sandwich with curry sauce. We both struggled to finish both meals. So filling and so tasty. We were left feeling full and very satisfied. Hence why we left with clean plates. And we absolutely loved the view whilst we ate. This place has gotten it right. Scenic views to follow with great food. Staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.

Visited Cat Rock Cafe for breakfast as part of our overnight stay at the golf course. menu options were good, service was great (fast, friendly and efficient), food quality was freshly prepared and tasty. If we were back in the area, would be great to come for another meal, with views out across the golf course down to the water a great way to enjoy a meal. Based on our experience, we would return and can recommend.

Lovely surroundings. However, beware. We called in for a quick cuppa after a walk on the beach. The service was absolutely dreadful. Ordered a tea and coffee and waited over half an hour for them to be delivered to our table. No apology just excuses! Won’t be returning.

Besides the fact that it truly has the most incredible view. This wonderful place has friendly staff and some very tasty food. We visit often and always enjoy a warm welcome and yummy food.

The usual eaterie that offers a poor vegan option just to tick the box. Ramshackle service and limited menu, (unless you like your fries even for dessert). Never again.

Fabulous place tucked away. Dog friendly so 5 stars there. Slightly limited menu but daily specials available. However most importantly everything on the menu was superb. We tried most between us on our visits. Staff attentive and helpful. Added bonus what a view to enjoy....

After a blustery walk along Newport sands, Cat Rock was the perfect place for lunch. Really friendly service and excellent COVID safe procedures in place. A variety of lunches were on offer, can recommend the veggie soup, dirty fries and fish finger sandwich.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful despite being so busy! A lady with short red hair and another with a blonde pony tail were so great. Food was amazing, a nice cosy cafe.
