The Royal Eastern in Bradford

Normally order from here and never had any problems however ordered for delivery and came with no prawn crackers even after spending over £25, on top of that also given the tiniest box of fried rice and while asking for no veg in the curry they put veg in and when rang up was really rude and tried lying saying you don’t get prawn crackers for free when it says on the website they are free for orders over £25

Just had a brilliant meal here for 9 people, huge order and made in 30 minutes all really nice and just what you want from a family get together!

Picked up and order and both dishes were lovely. Thank you.

Great Chinese, food always tastes amazing

Food was lovely, delivery was a little slow but was a busy night, it was still hot when arrived and tasted fantastic. Great value for money!! Would defo recommend.

Food is delicious from here, but placing an order just after 6pm, then having to call to see where it is at 8pm to be told the driver isn’t back from the last delivery isn’t on! Rang back at 8:30pm and cancelled our order. If we had received a courtesy call to say how late it was going to be we could’ve ordered from somewhere else. 2 and a half hours for food that would probably arrive cold isn’t on. My husband has now refused to order from here again, and it’s such a shame because the food is really nice :(

Not ordered from here for a while until last night and probably wont order from there again. Firstly I was overcharged which I put down to possible increases on the menu I got from them previously, but as I picked a new one up on collection didnt add it up till I got home and compared the two and i'd been overcharged by £3. Couldnt be bothered to go back. The food, although good, had definitely decreased in portion size. The Duck in plum sauce usually came with vegetables, but last night was purely duck and sauce. The King prawn chow mein had exactly 6 prawns, a couple of tiny bits of broccoli and carrot and a couple of pieces of onion along with the noodles and sauce. A portion of 6 smallish spare ribs and some boiled rice completed the order for £25+. Not really impressed but will vote with my feet and go elsewhere in future.

Amazing customer service, amazing food

Sorry but something has changed and not for the better. I ordered several starters and nobody liked them. The salt and pepper chicken wings, and the shredded chicken in garlic were really dry and tough to eat. Wontons were ok but really oily, spring rolls didnt taste good. And prawn toast was missed, they came to deliver it but even then it was really oily. We stopped eating the food and threw it away. Really disappointed as this place used to be good. Would not try again and gutted we spent so much.

Overall the food is good. Portion size not huge compared to other Chinese takeaways. Have visited several times though...

The food wasn't good at all no taste.

Rang and ordered my food at 7pm was told it will be hour, I rang back at 9pm to ask were my order was and they told me it was on its way, I then rang back to be informed again that they were waiting for the driver to come back and then he would bring my order 2.30 hours and no order, so I cancelled it, I would not recommend this take away to anyone, who would like there food in less then two and half hours.

After a 20 minute walk to find some cash (they only take cash) I was given someone else’s order. Luckily I discovered that before I got home. Eventually getting the right order my dish of sweet and sour chicken was disgusting. The batter was greatly undercooked and soggy and there was 2 pieces of onion and 2 pieces of pepper in a tasteless sauce. Definitely the last time we use this place. Funny enough we said that last time but it’s got even worse. Shame on you Royal Eastern.

Love this takeaway food is perfect everytime

Service was excellent, value for money was on the poor side. Crispy chicken was very crispy even after a drive home but seems to lack salt and pepper flavour. Chips also have alot of room for improvement, also had a very sparse amount of salt and pepper flavour or veg in them for the money(a few bits of the outer skin of an onion and a few bits of carrot). Would probably order again on the merit of the service being very good but my first impressions of the food are mediocre compared to other places locally

Rubbish portion sizes for the price, we paid £32. The meat in the fried rice was dry and didn't look fresh and the salt and pepper box was not worth the money (3 dry king prawns and some chips) We rang and complained but excuses were made with no solution. Not a fan.

This takeaway used to be excellent but now is very poor quality the food was cold when it arrived . Very much overpriced for what we got.

I will never eat from this place again it used to be good but had a take away on Thursday and it was absolutely disgusting and I have been ill ever since having it. I would definitely avoid it.

What has happened to this place? Once an amazing place to eat - both takeaway and restaurant but now I would call it average at best. The food (our takeaway) was tasteless and cold! After 3 minutes in the microwave, one mouthful was enough for it to go in the bin. The Royal Eastern was once the best Chinese takeaway I’d ever had, it is now somewhere I will avoid.

Very nice but didn't get the order quite right

Ordered Salt and Pepper Ribs, received the equivalent of Chip Shop Style Curry sauce ribs, and they were half the size of normal ribs

This is my first Google review however I felt it necessary to leave one for this restaurant/takeaway. a place that once prided itself on having restaurant quality food delivered to your door. Have been a customer of here for over 6 years, since I was a child my parents would take me here and always has been by far the best Chinese takeaway I have ever had, however about a year or so ago we noticed some staffing changes and menu changes, we kept ordering our regular until we notice that the food is no longer what it once was. From the packaging to the contents of the food every aspect of this once great takeaway is now gone, this goes without mentioning the increase in pricing since its takeover. Previously all food came in paper boxes that were designed to allow steam to escape the container to keep the food crisp and fresh where as now it comes in plastic and Styrofoam containers that trap steam and make the chips and other hot items soggy once it is delivered / brought home. The salt and pepper chips were unparalleled in their taste but also came with a selection of vegetables to pair with the chips where as now you get a meagre selection of onions to accompany them. To summarise the food isn't horrible however it is far from what it once was, to continue using the name and branding of the old restaurant almost feels like false advertising. This is not what the royal eastern used to be and it will never be again. If you haven't been here in a long time save yourself the trouble and dont bother going again, you wont be greeted with the food you once loved.

Always fabulous food. The 5 star food rating gives a great deal of comfort with regards to food hygiene.

Was so looking forward to our Saturday night treat.. It was our first & last time ordering from here! The food was inedible, too spicy & nothing like what we usually get from other places . Waste of £21.40. Disappointed.

The food is always on point. Anyone that leaves a negative view possesses no taste buds. The staff are super accommodating and helpful, really tasteful food cooked perfectly. I’ve tried every Chinese takeaway within a 10 mile radius of here and none of them compare. If you appreciate nice quality food from people who know how to cook the cuisine correctly, then go here.

I ordered a delivery this evening. My veg spring rolls and egg fried rice were ok but cold. My main course of mushrooms ginger and pineapple was warm but revolting. There was no ginger and sauce was far too sweet. Not your usual standard ☹. Very disappointing.

We have just tried here for the first time and are very disappointed. My wife is Chinese and is appalled at the anemic chicken not cooked inside. The peas if such a thing look old and the fried rice was pure white. Very poor and was really hoping for it to be nice. Now I love copious amounts of pepper and salt but needed two cans of coke to eat the beef in black pepper (blown my head off) This is a shame as we will have to go back to changs now as our old Clayton heights Chinese has changed hands ☹️☹️☹️ need a quality Chinese locally. Won't let me post a picture of chicken fried rice.

Great food—as always. But please, get some menus to takeaway. The website I was given for the menu does not work.

Food is hit and miss... normally very nice ... but they are that busy they forget stuff and food is sometimes cold... the worst part is that i have to call them at least 11 times to get through... ita more annoying calling them on average 20 times to get an answer... then have to hold for a min or two.. so tonight i have given up and will be ordering from a different place now. 😡😡😡

Travelled from Leeds after a recommendation from a Friend. Reasonably priced and excellent customer service. Food was at the perfect eating temperature and tasted sensational, I think this place could’ve earned them their biggest customer. Would recommend to everyone and I’m sure you’ll be impressed.

Always spot on and always fresh. Good location for me just to pop round and pick it up in like 15 mins. Sometimes have strange custom dishes with things and they are always happy to do it just right.

We are regular customers of the Royal Eastern and the food has and still is always lovely.. I’m writing this review after a very bad experience with a rude member of staff last night.. We always expect to wait longer than the delivery time promised upon order and have learned to accept it.. Last night however I had placed an order 6.30pm and advised it would be 45 minutes.. 65 minutes later I decided to call to enquire about the delay.. The phone was answered by what sounded like a young male with a local accent.. I explained that I’d been waiting over an hour and wondered where my order was.. The response was simply, ‘traffic is bad, it’s on it’s way!’.. It felt like a well rehearsed response and quite frankly an excuse as I could drive from Queensbury to Northowram via Deanstones Lane etc in 15 minutes maximum and any time of the day or night.. I said that I didn’t feel that the reason was acceptable and enquiries about a discount on the cost of my meal.. This led to a very arrogant attitude from this male who said in an angry tone, ‘No we won’t, we can’t control the traffic!’.. I wasn’t in the mood for an argument and put the phone down on him.. My order eventually arrived after 90 minutes.. Double the predicted time and was very hot, an indication that it had been recently cooked and that the arrogant male was simply lying about his incompetent suggestion of a 45 minute delivery.. The delivery driver had apologised unsurprisingly saying that ‘traffic was bad!’ No doubt having been advised to do so by the arrogant person on the phone! I doubt he would have been so confident, arrogant and frankly cocky face to face! Despite the quality of the food I will not be a returning customer to Royal Eastern unless they change the staff or address the attitude of them in relationship to customer service.. They need to realise that behaviour like this sends ripples across friendship groups and won’t just stay with the one customer they choose to offend!!

Amazing food, always meets and exceeds expectaions the staff are so lovely and nice go out of their way to make food that isnt even on the menu if their able to do so.

Food ok delivery service a joke told 30mins waited 1.20hr joke place shame as the food was good last time we them!!

FORGET IT .... waited 1hr 40 mins for our food . Only then to get it you would have expected it to be hot . Freezing cold and dissapointng . Egg fried rice was a cold portion of boiled white rice with 2 scaps of egg in it. Overall dishes rubbish total waist of money and a Saturday evening ruined ..

The Hot and Sour Soup is superb, ordered every time... A great selection, all well flavoured and good portion sizes too. The best Chinese in this area by a long way.
