Visited again today after taking the dogs on the beach for a run. After receiving a really warm welcome from the ladies working there, we ordered two BLT's and two coffees, we also received two free doggy sausages for our pooches, that was such a lovely gesture! Our food arrived promptly and was very tasty indeed, we really enjoyed it! The sausages went down well too! This place is so friendly, people coming in seem to know each other well and sit and have a chat, we had a chat with a few people whilst in there, I wish I lived a little closer, I'd be in all the time, but seeing all those delicious looking cakes, it's probably best I don't! 🤣 Thanks everyone, we really enjoyed our visit! Nice little place to go for a coffee out of the wind, with a view out to sea and along the beach. Nice enough menu for a beach cafe. Free parking outside when I visited.

This cafe now serves very poor quality food, clearly they no longer care about or respect their customers . Sandwiches made with the minimal amount of cheap,tasteless ingredients which don’t even attempt to half cover the tasteless bread. What a shame as it used to be lovely.

As a visitor to Barrow for football fir weekend i was pleased to see the cafe still there as so many places have closed. Had previously visited but quite some time ago as not local. Had a lovely toastie and coffee. Was quite a windy day and nice to watch the world go by inside in the warm. Staff here are excellent and made you feel really welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and really interacted with customers. Customer service at it's very best. Whenever I visit I will support this cafe, great community asset.

I went on windy day to watch the waves. I had a coffee and home made Gingerbread man. The lovely lady serving me tried her best to tempt me with some of their amazing home made cakes but I had to resist due to the fact I am a honed and chiseled 75 year old athlete! So I went for the healthy option! A cracking place to visit. Great coffee, food, staff and views.

Really tasty meal, great value and a fantastic view in the late summer sunshine on Walney. Well worth a visit. We had a panini and a toastie with a drink each. The food came in eco packaging with a salad and coleslaw... all for £16!

Visited the round House a few days ago. Food was OK - can’t go wrong with a tuna toastie. But the place was far too cold & sitting eating lunch was not enjoyable. I will not return. Also being charged 50 pence for a glass of tap water is terrible, never heard of that and is another reason why I will not return.

Spotted the cafe hub driving by and decided to visit. Just read another report by a whinger about 50p for water- it's a community place run by volunteers and water companies don't give water away to cafes either they charge! Had a lovely sausage and egg barm with coffee. Very reasonable price and very good and tasty. Nice toilets and friendly staff. As a visitor from Cheshire I was glad to support a community hub and wish them success as it's a great location. Wish we had something like this. I will try this again when I next revisit Barrow.

We used to visit here on a weekly basis but stopped for a while due to work commitments. However we went back today and now amongst the several signs that have appeared is one charging 50p for tap water!!!!!? For a cafe that what's to be a hub of the community really!!!!!!! This is ridiculous charging for tap water we will not be returning until this is looked at nothing short of money grabbing

We had been for a walk along the shore and decided to give this cafe a try after hearing good reports. Run by volunteers who do an excellent job , the service was efficient and the staff friendly. The menu is simple but varied and my wife picked the soup and a roll, mine was a cheese toasty. Tea for two and a cake . The price was reasonable and the cafe had a good following of dog walkers whose pets were lying patiently under the tables. Friendly atmosphere and obviously visited regularly by the walkers and their dogs .

After a wet and windy beach walk popped in for a coffee and pot of tea. Prices were very reasonable and drinks were nice and hot.

We stopped here for a light lunch after a bracing walk on Walney. The food was great, service was efficient and pleasant. Great!

Had a lovely spot of lunch of sweet chilli roll and plough man's and coffee.Very good value and beautiful views staff were very friendly and toilets were clean

The cafe was very clean and busy. My husband opted for a bacon sauce egg barm I had a panini we both choose to have cake the biscoff cheese cake was beautiful and lemon drizzle was very good. The choice of drinks was great all in all was very nice surprise for a seaside cafe

Just spent close to £5 on a bacon and cheese panini and they can’t even give me 5 pence worth of cheese on it, you would think they would want to keep the customers happy in these unprecedented times, it’s safe to say I will be taking my custom elsewhere in the future.

As I write this review we are in the middle of a national lockdown due to a pandemic. The hub has offered a delivery service for food. We fortunately ordered one yesterday and it was fantastic. Lovely fresh food delivered on time maintaining the social distancing. The filled buns and salad with veg crisps are very tasty and the cakes are delicious. I look forward to more deliverys and visiting when we can. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Great venue for a drink and food when walking on Biggar Bank. It has been missing a cafe over there for years.

The Round House building is quite iconic and has wonderful views of the North Sea. Wild and windy! The cafe offers hot drinks and snacks. Clean and friendly. Toilets and cafe accessible to wheelchair users. Definitely recommended!

Solo sirve cafés y pasteles, etc., a la espera de la puesta en marcha de la cocina.Cree que ahora ha sucedido un refrigerio y se ofrecen comidas ligeras.Gran ambiente en esa ocasión. Personal amable (todos voluntarios) y buen café. Los pasteles se veían bien, pero se resistieron a comer ninguno. .Espero que se convierta en el lugar para ir a Walney

We have been twice to the Round House. Although the weather was cold the atmosphere and place was warm and inviting. Coffee and cakes are lovely Hopefully food won’t be long when kitchen is ready. Excellent.

Visited the round house with my friend last week. The food is nice however there is much less choice in comparison to their competition and the atmosphere, for me, is not as good. Therefore I would probably choose to go elsewhere next time.

Bought a take away last week, was determined not to return after my last very poor experience. Glad I did give it another chance the food was very fresh and tasty, everything it should be.

Vine aquí para buffet de la noche del día de la madre - mucho para elegir, pero tuvimos que esperar un rato para ciertos elementos que eran muy populares, ya que se acababan antes el lote siguiente fue preparado y listo para ser puesto fuera.Mi hijo de 9 años probamos un montón de diferentes sabores como sabía que podía y no dije de en caso de que no me gustaba, así que es perfecto para niños y £5. 50 para ellos valió la pena cada céntimo.Nos alojamos por más de una hora y media (3 adultos, 2 niños) disfrutamos de la comida.

Quaint little cottage to rent in the lakes, central to local amenities. Plenty of pubs nearby and plenty of places to eat in or order out from. Bit of a pain to park as down small lanes with parked car obstructions. Dvd players in both rooms but only worked in the bedroom. Took extra duvet, was a good decision for comfort. Only really need to take ur own towels. Would visit again

Este restaurante es perfecto para buffet. Buena variación de la comida. Mi marido es vegetariano y extra de comida vegetariana fue ofrecido por él. El servicio es muy atento. Preciosas vistas al mar irlandés. Vamos cada año cuando vienen de vacaciones. Mejor reservar en temporada de vacaciones

Como soy un poco exigente con la comida china que tenía un menú fijo de algo que me gustó, pero pudo haber tenido el buffet había mucho que pude comer! Los otros niños y adultos el buffet que disfrutaron muchísimo.También satisfechos tienen kopperberg sidra embotellada desde el bar.

He sido un diner en el Roundhouse desde que puedo recordar y en su día fue el bueno y mejor buffet chino más concurridas de la ciudad. Ahora no vale la pena el paseo en coche por el puente.

Visitamos la casa de la última semana, la cerveza de la bomba era plana y tenían que ser enviadas de vuelta. Aunque la comida de buffet estaba bien no había un montón de cada opción, parecía que las cosas no eran repuestos una vez que están haciendo bajo. También comenzó la camarera de todos los platos mientras recoger gente aún comer!

Lovely people working, very attentive. The food was amazing. Definitely will be back. 100% on everything, and the views over the beach is brilliant

This restaurant, located on Walney Island was special for its location and architecture. It is rather out-of-the-way. We found it worth the drive from Barrow.

Our favourite restaurant for family celebrations. Plenty of choice to suit all tastes. It provides many courses if desired-soup, starters, crispy duck pancakes, main meals, fruit and banana fritters. The house wine was reasonable and very pleasant. The restaurant provides lovely views of the sea.

Excellent buffet with great variety. The food is always hot and fresh. It is great value and a dessert is included with the menu.

The round house offered a fantastic range of high quality food which left us all satisfied and comfortable. The buffet shows a great quantity, which does not detract from the quality at all. The staff are friendly as ever and catered to our every need. The wonderful venue, food and service combined to form a truly great evening meal for any occasion. I would definitely recommend to all and can't wait for our next visit!

I went with my grandparents and a wonderful time. The staff were really friendly and looked after my grandparents. The food was hot and delicious and the banana fritter to end was great.

The views overlooking the Irish Sea are lovely the restaurant can be a bit chilly at times particulary with an onshore gale is blowing around the building. The food is not the best in the area but not the worst. Last year I would give a 5 so it is still not too bad, the staff are friendly and helpful, the prices are reasonable. There are so many eating places in and around Barrow you have to keep a very high standard.

Wont be rushing back food ok not a great choice staff not very friendly sweets are in with the buffet so small you need at least 3

Its always nice Chinese food at the Round House and a good selection. The sweet and sour dishes are my favourites.

The best Chinese Ive had we sat all night having drinks & dishes we went from soup to mix platter to duck with pancake & then the main Menu come over which at this point we was quite full & at any time we could of ask for more each meal was made fresh & was hot to end it off we had banana fritters with Ice cream (fantastic) what a fined sat having a meal looking out to the sea such a relaxing night ( Thankyou so much )

My husband and I have eaten in many Chinese in Barrow and this is the best we have had by far.We arrived on a Wednesday evening and the buffet wasn't on but you could choose which dishes you wanted and it was brought to your table. You could have as much as you wanted and there was plenty of choice.The food was hot and very tasty.The lady who serves you is friendly even though she was serving quite a few tables at the same time.We will definitely be back now that we have found this little gem!!

Being a wed night and money generally tight it was fairly quite night for this place However as a customer the bonus was that the useual excellent buffet was not on where you go and serve yourself which believe me is very good. So instead it was say what you want and it was served in small portions to your table and Sharon would keep coming and asking do you want anything topping up it was the icing on the cake for our nightThe restaurant overlooks the sea it's a lovely Chinese Menue and over 15 years under current owner never had a complaintStrongly recommend booking early for busy nights ie weekends

Normally closed on a Monday they opened specially for our group which they have done previously, this time around though the experience did not live up to our previous visit. The main issue revolved around the buffet, although the food was nice we were left waiting multiple times for empty dishes to be filled upwill go again and hope for better next time

This is by far the BEST Chinese Restaurant in the area. Tried them all over the years but this is our overall favourite !!!!

At the end of the cross-island road, you will find the Roundhouse virtually on the beach with great views.

Myself and a group of friends went on a Sunday evening at 7pm for buffett. We entered an empty restaurant. We were shown into a back room where the tables were full of diners which we found a bit bizarre, you'd surely want to show the front of house as full and leave the back room for overspill....? The room was FREEZING and not a pleasant place to be.The buffet seemed really good as we'd walked through but, the diners already there were past their starters and on to their mains before us and so when we came to pick what we wanted from the main course range there was hardly anything left. My friend was told she could order what she wanted but if you only want a small spoonful of a few dishes this would be a bit of a waste of time.What was left was stone cold with a thick skin over the curry sauce and no actual curry with meat in left at all. This was really dissapointing as, what we had managed to eat was really lovely and it would have been smashing to try a wider range of the chefs cooking.On the desserts there was a lovely looking raspberry ripple mousse so i asked for this. What arrived in a small bowl was a frozen, cheap iceland type mousse, the sort you buy when your kids are small and money tight and you get 10 for £1. This should not be served frozen for a start and was a very poor dessert indeed. However it gave my friends and I a really good laugh.I paid £14 for the buffet and a small bottle of cider which i do not consider to be good value for money and i won't be going back. There are far better buffets in town.

It must have been a couple of years since our last visit to this restaurant, and on entering to see how sparse it was on a Friday night wasn't a good sign. Looks to be under new ownership who are struggling to juggle preparing take away dishes and seeing to the buffet. What made things worse was how I had raved on to my daughter and boyfriend just how good this place was. The decor was still the same, toilets were grotty, and table service (taking orders and cleaning away) was just not up to scratch. Although what food I had wasn't too bad, the replenishing of dishes seemed a standing/waiting lifetime. Definately wont be rushing back to this place in a hurry, pity really because the view out to sea and distant memories of better times never lived up to expectation.

we went here a lot while we were in barrow for 7 weeks... my parents loved it! not a massive range of food in the buffet but what is there is delicious and fresh. You also get some dessert :)

We come here every few months as its a decent Chinese buffet. The staff are pleasant, the food quality is good and the variety is resonable. All could be better and it doesnt compare to chinese buffets in somewhere like Manchester but its a nice location and compared to other places in the town, its quite good. The starter selection is particularly good and the desserts (which are included but have to be ordered) are also very nice. Personally, I would recommend the Round House if you just fancy a Chinese buffet, not for a special night out.

i went here with a friend on a monday eveningthe dishes were mostly empty and were not replenished certainly not a buffetthe soup was okthe rest of it was battered oddities and a few other dishesthe fish tank probably contained some fish although i couldnt see them as it was covered in algae the fish werent for eating by the way although they would have filled the empty buffet the next day i was sat on the loo praying for a lump as i was very ill dont know if it was down to their "food " or not ,but it was the only thing i had eaten (? )i wouldnt recommend it- go elsewhereit was the first time i had been over to the roundhouse -and the last.

Recently visited the Roundhouse with family - we went at 6pm to take advantage of the early offer of £10.90 per head, which is until 7pm. We had finished eating before 7, but ordered another round of drinks. These were forgotten about by the waitress, and it was a good 20 minutes until they arrived. When the time came to pay the bill, we were abruptly told that because we had been in the sat in the restaurant after 7pm, we were charged £13.90 per head - even though we had finished eating before this. I found this ridiculous, especially after we had given them further trade in another drinks order. We had previously visited for restaurant meals and takeaways quite frequently, and have no complaints about the quality of food - but following this they have certainly lost our custom. If anyone does want to go for the early offer, just make sure you're out the door before 7.

Myself, my 6yr son & best friend arrived for the buffet at 6.30, shown to our table straight away & were asked for our drinks order...went up several times to the buffet area & whilst most items were fully stocked, what was running low was quickly replenished & available again to eat. Food lovely & plenty of choice both for starters & main courses. Just under £50 for the three of us, including 3 alcoholic drinks, lovely food, lovely staff & lovely night.

Very ill after the last visit due to a dodgy prawn!!!The buffet is expensive considering the quality of the food. The soup was cold and the buffet was not much better - warm instead of hot like it should be. The selection of puddings is also poor. Also a very cold building to sit in.

Ordered a take away last week for 2 people, and to be honest I can't fault it, sorry to see the negative reviews posted recently, food quality here has almost always been excellent, the buffet is well stocked and fresh, and if there are insufficient people to justify a buffet going cold they will happily cook to order and bring to the table any buffet items fresh and ready to eat. The take away was superb

9 family members had a meal here for my sons 12th birthday.we arrived at 6-15 for the happy hour buffet.We had all finished the buffet before the 7pm deadline when the buffet goes up £3 and all the good food comes out.We decided to have a second drink and a chat as the place was not busy and they didn't need the table.The bill arrived and to our amazement they had charged us the extra price due to the fact we were still at the table after 7pm.Ok don't want to spoil the night just pay the bill.But before we had time to pay we received another bill with an increased amount because they had just realised the birthday Boy had turned 12 today.I have never experienced anything like this.Will not be returning.

My husband and I visited this restaurant at the end of June this year, while eating the soup from the buffet, I felt something that I thought was a bone. This turned out to be a piece of wire or staple about 1/2 inch long. I called the waitress over and showed her the metal, explaining where I found it. She seamed unfazed by this saying it was probably part of the pan scrub, which it certainly was not, she then took the metal to the kitchen saying she would show it to the cook. Reluctantly, she eventually returned to us saying they would get a new brush, giving a minimal apology. We said she should remove the soup from the buffet to which she replied it would be fine. On this we walked out. If this is the standard of their food hygiene, it leaves a lot to be desired. Had I swallowed the metal I dread to think what the outcome would have been

The buffet option is not for me although it was chosen by all my friends, deep fried starters too much, but a range of choices. Like other reviews it was sometimes slow to fill up so people would miss out on some options and only realise when others came back with them. A girl of about ten working the bar very efficiently but is that legal? Service was generally good and better than in the past. My a la carte meal was good, and the views of the sunset over the sea were spectacular.

Went here last year and found it very poor due to food not being replaced once dishes were empty,went again at the weekend and exactly the same thing happened,we were there nearly 2 hours and I think it was 5 dishes remained empty,would never go back,a buffet should mean that every dish is available to everyone and that is not the case at this restaurant.

I just love this place! Great service - super food - fresh, hot and tasty. The buffet is super - lots of choice so you can try different things and it is constantly being topped up throughout the night. Cosy atmosphere. Top Marks!

Fast, efficient, taste and a good price. What more do you want from a take away meal? Have an excellent view from the windows over the Irish Sea
