Wonderful vibe in this venue. Food was exceptional. Good value for money. Highly recommend.

Wow! The food here is utterly incredible. I do wish they had more vegan options, but what they have is wonderful. The Korean cauliflower thing is out of this world! The service is great, and the prices are no more than the norm. I love this place.

The local branch of the NHS retirement fellowship enjoyed our monthly lunch here. 21 members had a reduced menu. Good service, reasonable prices and fabulous atmosphere.

We attended the Jazz evening , great music and fab food .

Lovely , beautiful building and garden but some very steep steps. Friendly staff. Varied menu with something a bit different for those a little more adventurous and some standard dishes for those that like more traditional meals. Been a couple of times. Had a " light bite" first time. Presentation of the ploughman's could have been done better ( 3 big doorstep chunks of bread just thrown on top of ploughmans with nowhere to put it). Second visit we had 3 course meal. Wasn't impressed with burger. Had a funny twang to it. Others in party didn't enjoy the fish. No chocolate option for desert apart from ice cream so that was disappointing. Not sure I'd go again.

Excellent Sunday lunch served by wonderful but professional staff.

First visit to The Rose & Crown today for a lunch and definitely won’t be the last. The food is incredible, staff are lovely and welcoming and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Dogs are welcome in certain areas so we were able to take our Cockapoo along.

I popped in for a drink and was pleased to see a clean and busy public house. There were a number of staff available to serve which meant waiting time was minimal. It is dog friendly in the bar area and has a well laid out restaurant. At the time I was there I didn't see any food being served as service was just commencing. Locals told me that the quality of food was good. I was taken there today for a Birthday lunch treat. Nicely busy for a Tuesday, I counted 19 covers; mainly a similar demographic to me. The food was delicious, we shared a camambert with loads of crudeties and fresh bread. I then had an 8oz rump steak with blue cheese sauce cooked to my preference and nicely presented. My companion had the duck breast which was well cooked with a flavoursome jus. All in all, it was my first experience of the food which certainly matched the images being posted on social media. Definitely a place to return to 😋

A last minute change of plan, booked the table as I didn't expect it to be busy on a Tuesday lunchtime, but it was! I thought that was a good sign, and we weren't disappointed, the food and service was exceptional, and everything else on the menu that I saw going to other tables looked fantastic too. Will be returning for sure.

Great place for Sunday lunch and good value

Amazing pub. Visitors in town and just stopped in as it was the closest pub to hotel. Excellent chicken burger, staff were super friendly, lovely outside seating. Could recommend highly enough. Dog friendly.

It’s been our favourite pub for ages. Tonight we were really disappointed! My 91 year old mum is visiting so we wanted to treat her to something special. My mum ordered the Vietnamese spring roll, but sadly unavailable. My husband ordered fish and chips…sadly unavailable. The scampi my mum ordered instead was like something on sale from Lidl. The service was not anything we had experienced before (was always wonderful). Waited 10 minutes before we were seated. We had to ask to place an order and drinks. Such a disappointment! It was always so good and sadly tonight it wasn’t worth it. It’s no longer our favourite place.

Visited last weekend for a Sunday roast. Food was delicious and plentiful and the atmosphere of the pub was great. Service a little slow when trying to get the attention of staff but overall a great pub and would definitely return.

Excellent all round, they were especially careful with allergies.

We hadn't booked, so there was a wait, but we were seated outside quickly with drinks served, only having to wait to order food. It was a Sunday, so perhaps to be expected. The two of us had two delicious roasts. All the usual elements provided. The side of cheddar cauliflower cheese was rich and oh, so worth it, I'll try the versions on the menu another time. Couldn't fit a pudding in, but they all looked great. See you again.

I hesitate to add this review as for us it is a hidden gem but... Yet another outstanding meal, this time to celebrate a birthday. The food, customer service and value for money are second to none...Our favourite 😊

Wow! A super traditional old English Pub/ Bistro in the heart of Yardley Hastings village. I used to frequent this Pub many years ago and it was good back then, but now it has evolved to be one of the best Pubs I have visited in a long time. The food is home-cooked and very tasty (just like it was all those years ago) and the service is excellent. The Rose & Crown is a Free House and not tied to any brewery. Do book well in advance as even on weeknights it can get very busy. I had the Gluten-Free Fish & Chips & it was superb. For desert I had two scoops of delicious Ice Cream. My Son had Ham Egg & Chips and Sticky Toffee Pudding and he enjoyed it. The Rose & Crown also has Gluten Free IPA on draught and Peroni/ Duara in bottles. Great food, great service, all at a fair price. Highly recommended.

Excellent Saturday evening meal with friends. First rate experience. Welcoming and friendly staff. Clean, tidy and attractive restaurant. Food was delicious and really good quality. Tasty, well presented and value for money. All tables were in use but we were not rushed at all. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Highly recommend this fabulous place.

Huge disappointment, long wait between starter and main both tables next to us had both finished their mains/puddings before we received our main, the starters were pate (can’t really do this one wrong) and devilled kidneys, the sauce was lovely but the kidney was slightly undercooked. When the mains did arrive the carbonara looked like it had been heated in the microwave as it was gloopy and surrounded by oil, the pasta was over cooked to the point it didn't even need to be cut, (there certainly was no swirling round the fork needed) the sauce was bland as was the chicken which had no flavour or colour, topped with a sprinkle of cold tempura courgette, huge disappointment and was inedible. The other main lamb rump came with dauphinoise potatoes that were much hotter than anything else on the plate (again clearly microwaved), the purple sprouting broccoli was woody and the ends had not been cut (looked like they had been snapped). The lamb tasted fine but was overcooked. When these issues were raised with staff, they were defensive/bordering on rude, a bit of face pulling etc They did remove the pasta main from the bill and offered a half hearted apology. I understand this is not fine dining, however all in all the food and service was poor and staff didn’t seem that bothered. Will not return and definitely do not recommend.

Took mum here as a pre mother's day meal. Her lamb (most expensive item on the menu) was completely raw. Brocolli hard and not chewy. No apology from the manager....l felt terrible as my Thai curry was actually nice.

Good atmosphere and the service was very good. Some of the food didn't match the price tag. The Beef Wellington was not worth the price and was very disappointing but then the standard and quality of the burgers were worth every ££

Been here a few times before & food has always been great but for whatever reason it was pretty poor last night. Probably had the worst curry & pasta dish we've ever eaten. The pub is lovely so it was disappointing, especially when u fork out £100 for the whole meal, with desserts & drinks. Have they changed chefs?? Hopefully it was a one off bad night for them. They didn't even have fish & chips on a Friday night!

Had a birthday meal here with my family on a Saturday lunchtime. We couldn't have been happier with the experience. Everyeones meals were really tasty, the staff were helpful and friendly and the pub had a lovely feel to it. Very happy customers who will definitly be back.

Had a delicious Sunday lunch here, excellent vegan wellington! Plenty of choice for vegetarian / vegans. My desert, sticky toffee pudding, was stunning and all served by lovely people. Really nice atmosphere and great value for money.

I had pate and toast, very tasty but a little light on the portion of pate. My wife had the mussels which she thoroughly enjoyed. We both had sea bass as the main course which came with a delicious Chanterelle mushroom sauce. I had a creme caramel which had a tinge of ginger and my wife had the ice cream, both very nice. There were a small but nice range of beers at the bar.

A lovely evening meal here, fantastic menu with plenty of choice, food was delicious. Staff were polite, welcoming and attentive. The pub has ample parking even when busy for those of us travelling in.

Such a beautiful English country pub, full of charm, character and warmth. The staff were so lovely, each and every person was attentive, helpful and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the roast turkey and vegetarian wellington, plus pudding, and everything was spot on. 😍

Do not drive past this lovely country inn. My first time here on recommendation from my brother. Certainly not disappointed in any way. Excellent menu for gastro pub. I always say you eat with your eyes first and every thing was so well presented, tasting as superb as it looked. Very attentive staff who really looked after the four of us. Will certainly be one of our regular eateries now. Just can’t fault them at all. Thank you.

Have been there twice now, the food is lovely - although I preferred the first time I visited - however both times have received good service and it was a very good atmosphere.

Best Sunday lunch out yet! Roast potatoes weren't great but we've never found anywhere so far that does well with them. Service was excellent!

Our family of 7 enjoyed a lovely evening to celebrate my brother,s birthday on October 17th. The service and quality of food was excellent.We particularly enjoyed the shared camembere starter and the ham,chicken and leek pie was delicous. Well done to the dedicated staff on a busy evening.

The best Sunday roast in Northampton !!!!!!!

Gorgeous food, last time I ate here was over 30 years ago, will definitely not be waiting that long before we return. There were 20 of us dining, celebrating a bday Table booked 7.00 & starters came out 7.45, a long wait. We hadn't ordered a starter & didn't want to add any more pressure in ordering another starter so order some chips as we were hungry & guessed it would be at least another 40 mins before mains would be served. Mains serviced around 8.30-9.45.We had Seabass, gorgeous. We were eyeing up others chicken pie, which we were told was really lovely; so will go back to try that out. Puddings were very nice. Forgot to take pics of food as too busy talking but they did a happy birthday pud for our friend, nice touch. No music so not much of an atmosphere, not sure if they usually play music, I'm guessing not. We were a large group so we really didn't need any back ground noise. Waitresses did a good service but were rather miserable in my opinion, not very welcoming considering we were spending a small fortune. Drinks as you would expect were expensive £11 for a glass of Malbec, but it was really nice, easy to drink. Chairs were uncomfortable, some sort of lattice effect & my delicate derriere was still sore the following evening. Beer garden looked nice. Lovely building & clean toilets. Despite the wait the chef & kitchen staff are an asset to this business, well done

Live just a few miles away and haven't been since lock down. We had the Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings, all freshly prepared and served by friendly staff. The atmosphere was relaxed with no background music interfering, car parking and access is easy and there is good choice of ales. We shall definitely be returning and thoroughly recommend.

Four of us turned up at the Rose and Crown at lunchtime on a bank holiday weekend, no reservation and not entirely hopeful we would be able to eat. However the lady that greeted us (owner, landlady, manager, not sure) was so welcoming and went out of her way to fit us in. We were served a lovely meal and made to feel nothing was any trouble. Really top service and very friendly. Nice atmosphere and great outdoor eating facilities too. I would recommend the Rose and Crown without question.

Dined here a few weeks ago with my wife and had great service. We returned today for a birthday celebration and sadly the service wasn’t up to standard. Waited 45 minutes for our main courses after finishing starters. Some items of the food were also not has hot as they should be. It was a shame as it was a birthday celebration that we hoped would have been better.

Great place, never been before last week and now been twice. Very friendly staff, good prices and food looks great tho no tested. Garden has a covered area which keeps the rain off even in a storm. Will now be a regular.

Popped in on Bank holiday Monday, as we were in need of lunch. Very attentive staff and a great menu. Food was delicious. So nice to see a Ploughman’s on the menu, it used to be on most pub menus, but quite rare now. Highly recommended.

Lovely little place, looks great & it came highly recommended but to be honest I was not impressed at all. We had to wait over 50 minutes for our starters whilst other customer who arrived after us had their appetisers, starters & main before we even had our starters. And to be honest wasn't overly impressed with the food, very bland & tasteless. Certainly won't be going there again, a complete waste of money.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely traditional Sunday lunch at the Rose & Crown today. We had the Glazed Gammon and the Roast Beef, both delicious and consumed with great gusto in pleasant, albeit busy, surroundings. The service was excellent and there is plenty of parking. We will be back!

We give it a try every now and then as we live in the village and every time we are disappointed and left wondering why it is so popular There are plenty of better places to eat in Olney and around And how the red lion never takes off as the Last four owners food has been far superior This time the prawns were from frozen and tasteless and the pheasant over cooked and everything else not that special Saw a bookers van delivering!!

The perfect village pub! The Rose and Crown is a gem, slightly hidden in the village of Yardley Hastings just off the A428 between Northampton and Bedford. I've been coming here for years and bringing guests from around the world and every experience has been a good one. (Sometimes the guests starting taking photos of the locals as they think it is so classically British which is a bit embarrassing!!) The food is very good quality and the service always friendly. I definitely recommend it, especially for Sunday Lunch.

Food was lovely! Had 4 roast dinners, trimmings were lovely, beef was served pink, which is very rare for a Sunday roast, most places serve beef very well done so was a welcome change. The only thing that we weren’t impressed with was that on arrival we were left standing quite a bit before anyone acknowledged us and it wasn’t that busy… then we actually approached someone we were told to wait a minute (which turned out to be a very long minute) while they messed around on a computer and sorted through papers… then after our considerable wait they took our name and took us to our table! SO not very customer focused. Oh and there were plenty of free tables so capacity wasn’t the issue. Not the service I’d expect in hospitality, although not a huge deal, standing there for quite some time wasn't ideal, just seat us and then sort the admin or whatever was so urgent to ignore customers…

Really liked it! Service was great and food was too, would definitely go again
