We had a Sunday lunch here for my birthday and it was fantastic. The food, drinks, staff were all lovely. Highly recommend!

I am SO impressed with this lovely local INN/PUB where we had supper. The T-Bone steak was done to a - dare i say it - T. My wife had Lamb Belly which, with a few of my chips and pepper sauce she cleaned up her plate practically to a shine! Dessert was Sticky Toffee pudding, which the staff kindly heated, and a Lemon Posset, both of which were very good.

Delicious lunch served very graciously by Darcy.We were very impressed by the ketchup and tartare sauce in bowls ! Good value and pleasant and peaceful ambience.Highly recommended

This place is lovely, the staff are attentive polite and work hard. They were so lovely we phoned before arriving to check the kitchen was open and although busy they welcomed us and commented on we have been waiting for you (nice touch) service with a smile a nice menu too amazing chips and my steak was cooked to perfection thanks guys

Really excellent pan roasted sea bass and burger. Lovely service too. Shame the outdoor space isn't a bit more picturesque.

Absolutely superb yet again. I tried a new dish pork ribs that was really really good lovely combination of flavours and would definitely recommend this meal and pub. A fantastic pub, very accommodating.

A warm and friendly pub that welcomes dogs. My partner our pooch and I went hear today on a whim. We were met by friendly staff and and fitted in very quickly even though the restaurant was full when we arrived. The food was very good and was delivered with a smile and nothing was any trouble. We will most definitely be visiting again but will book in advance just incase. Thanks to all the staff and compliments to the kitchen staff.

Gorgeous little pub with brilliant food and relaxing atmosphere. We booked last minute and fitted the two of us in for a 3 course meal - we weren't intending on three courses but the food was so delicious we just couldn't resist!

We booked Sunday lunch after a lovely long circular walk in the surrounding countryside and received a warm welcome from the friendly and very efficient young staff. Obviously well-trained to the high standards of the landlord. Table service was excellent and the food was hearty, homemade and delicious. The landlord himself was very helpful and chatty, but without being intrusive. Service is so important in creating a good impression and this pub has got it just right!

Super super Sunday roast. Great customer service. They went above and beyond for us. Food was delicious and all homemade. Very picky about roast potatoes and the ones we were served were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Veg was roasted instead of just steamed. Our young children devoured every last bite. Will definitely come back

Sunday lunch was all round excellent 👌....the shepherd's pie made with chunks of slow cooked lamb was exceptional....would highly recommend!

My husband and I have adopted this as our family pub and it's our default option any time we find ourselves needing to pop out for lunch or dinner. The food is always top notch, the staff are friendly, the cider is cold, and the atmosphere is incredibly cosy and warm. I absolutely love this magnificent historic village pub with Cromwellian graffiti! It's an added (HUGE) bonus that they are dog friendly, which is a must for our family. We love this place and can't wait to bring friends and family to show off our favourite little spot!

I was too late for food (my fault!) but very friendly and welcoming people regardless, so managed a decent local Essex pint and a very good packet of crisps from Duxford. It’s the simple things that matter! I’ll be back for food.

First time here, went with family for a meal, was very pleasantly surprised with the menu and of the quality of the food. Also had a good selection of beer , lager and wines. Staff were friendly and helpful, very attentive to our needs. Will go back.

Nice to pop back in for some very tasty beer; real ale and local craft ale. Sorry not to stay longer. The dogs enjoyed it too!

Beautiful pub with fantastic Sunday roast dinner and great service. Very accommodating on a warm busy Sunday! Baring in mind we didnt have a reservation, Darren and new member of staff Emily have looked after us amazingly. 10/10

Just had a fantastic family meal at the Rose and Crown. We were made to feel really welcome from the moment we arrived until we left full to bursting. The kids had pizza which they thoroughly enjoyed. The Welsh rarebit tart was a gorgeous starter with crispy thin pastry. We followed this with the homemade Steak pie and the lamb Kofta’s, both were absolutely stunning and cooked perfectly. Apart from the food this pub stands out due to the wonderful staff who instantly make you feel like a local and take the time to get to know a little bit about you. Such a rare treat to find. We will tell everyone about this place as it is perfect.

We came for a Sunday lunch today and we were really impressed. The pies were fantastic, both veggie and beef. The roasts were also lovely as were the deserts - especially the chocolate fondant! We can’t wait to come back 😊

The food was stunning! They welcomed us in (even when we got there a little early) I really recommend the fish and chips!

Love this country pub. We just dropped in for a quick pint after a local walk but enjoyed sitting outside with good ales and cider. Food menu looks good but that will have to be another time

Stayed nearby with a big group over the weekend. Very hospitable, coped well with the size of the group, excellent beer, remained friendly even when it was nearly closing time and we were a bit slow drinking up. Highly recommended.

Really nice atmosphere on this cosy pub. The service was superb and the food was perfection. We had the beef Sunday roast and I can happily say it’s the best I’ve had in UK to date.

Didn't eat here so no food rating, but excellent atmosphere and fine beer, I will return

We visited recently for Sunday lunch and it was really delicious. Some very tasty starters before a huge tasty traditional roast. Staff were friendly and helpful and the wine selection was very good too.

We stopped here on the Ashdon/Bartlow circular walk with our two children for a pint and pizza and it was just what we were looking for! Country pub with good food, indoor and outdoor seating and absolutely lovely staff! We couldn't have asked for more!

A nice pub, it was Asian night and I'm afraid the menu didn't appeal to me personally. The tables were decorated beautifully.

Very friendly staff. Nice selection of drinks (including some locally brewed beer) and are for the first time this Sunday. The roast was incredible. I don’t normally like a pub roast, but this one is something special! Can’t wait to come back another night and try the rest of the menu

Had a lovely Sunday roast here - was excellent and staff were fantastic. Really scrummy food. Would definitely come back - would recommend the broccoli and stilton pie roast dinner. My other half had the roast chicken and said it was super.

So my family and I went here for a Birthday Sunday lunch, we had to phone in advance to inform them that our youngest Daughter has severe allergies which I have to say they handled impeccably , from the management to the waiting staff the service was excellent, the food was amazing, the landlady/head chief even came over to our table to check in that everything thing had gone well, and the team even presented the Birthday Girl with a card and some chocolates, thank you so much to all the team at the Rose and Crown for a lovely experience we will definitely be back, Don’t hesitate to pay this public house a visit 10/10

Haven’t had a pizza this good in as long as I can remember (nduja sausage & honey). And their Thai food is better than most Thai restaurants. Highly recommended!

Delicious Sunday roast after a good walk in the local countryside. A lot of pubs offer a Sunday roast but rarely as good as this. I had beef and it was lovely. We were the first there and it was very busy by the time we left. Deservedly so. Highly recommended.

Love this place, yes it’s my local. But the people make it the place & they are beautiful.

Had the pleasure of eating here on Friday evening. Warm welcome and friendly service. Menu is nicely varied with some classics. I can recommend the Korean Chicken as a starter. Steak was delicious and the chips were cooked perfectly. Wine list is good and will be trying others when I return. Dessert menu is varied and has something for everyone. Was more than happy with the price and felt good value for the quality of food and service we received.

Made date night special Came here with my partner for our anniversary and this pub is absolutely gorgeous, the staff are so lovely and friendly, I would 100% recommend their steak.

Had a brilliant Sunday roast out on their gorgeous new terrace. Food was fantastic with generous portions and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Heaps of parking. Dogs welcome. I'll be back again very soon!

Great Sunday lunch! A very attentive team looked after us. The food was well prepared, meat cooked just as requested, excellent Yorkshire puddings! A really enjoyable experience and highly recommended.

Cute little pub. Cool 80s music. Sunday roast was very tasty. But beef wasn't pink at all and was cut into uniformed rectangles, odd. Wine glasses had lipstick and the washer blamed. My friend's fork was coated in rust. Other than that, good.

Just been here for lunch. Greg was friendly and welcoming. Food and beer was on point, nice chilled out music and atmosphere. Also great for kids, our daughter can't wait to go back. We will be returning soon and would recommend to others.

While exploring the area we decided to go here for a coffee. Greg was friendly and offered us some of Dion's soup which was delicious, and we also had a table companion, Spike the dog. We went in as customers and came out as friends. Thank you what a gem

Food was good, beers were excellent. Decor and ambiance great. I was surprised, though, that I didn't see a single person behind the bar or serving at tables wearing a mask. Not a place to go if you are being careful to avoid cv19.
