The Rooftop in City of London, Westminster

Not much offered here. The menu is more like casual bar instead of a restaurant menu. Good cocktail selections but I can't drink alcohol so it wasn't appealing to me at all. At the time of our visit there was construction going on on the main view obstruction the view to where you can see the eye. We didn't stay long coz the food selection were poor so we only ordered mocktails and an appetizer and left. The staff were polite and friendly. There were only a few costumer at the time so not busy at all.

Table of 5 guests on a Saturday night. We have been welcomed very kindly from the host. Look like they have an only 21 policy on the Saturday night and even if one member of our group was 18 (this was my mistake I have missed that part while booking) After a quick check, They made us feel welcomed and made us sit inside. The dinner was quick and very tasty. We took 2 cold cuts with focaccia and as an Italian I can say that they were freshly cut and delicious. As main we've got 2 rib-eyes, 1 Tomahawk to share and a portion of their gnocchi. Everyone loved the food and it was cooked to perfection. The manager helped me and my friend to organize my proposal to my girlfriend as well, decorating a private area on the roof top with 2 glasses of champagne and even a dessert with a plate written "Would you merry me". All this whiteout previous notice or anything. Everything was organized promptly and He was so kind and understanding with us, making sure that everything was going to be perfect for that proposal. She said Yes by the way. I love you guys and love your food. Hope only the best for the staff and this restaurant. We'll be back for sure. Thank you for everything ❤️

best place havin a drink and relax

Although the atmosphere was great, the service was really lacking even come across as rude at times as we were there for not even an hour and we were asked 3 times by the waitress if we want to order something else. I understand it is a busy place and the table might have been booked already but as 2 out of the 4 people are still drinking their expensive cocktail how about you give them a warning when you place them in the table or not provide them with the bill without asking if they want it.

I recently visited The Rooftop at Trafalgar St. James for a surprise birthday celebration for my dad, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, including Simone, Avril, Tek, Redha, Alec, and Chef Kit. They even surprised my dad with a mini cake, which made his day extra special. The service was impeccable, and the ambiance was perfect for celebrating with loved ones. I highly recommend this place for a memorable and intimate celebration

Superb service from Jeremiah, and great food of course

Lovely little place, quite small so best to book ahead. Outdoor seating is best for views, there are heaters if chilly. Very nice but also a bit pricey so be prepared. Rob the waiter was lovely, very friendly, helpful and always smiling.

Amazing service by the manager getting a bottle that was missing from their list sent over to The Rooftop. Staff fantastic as well very friendly. Any good weather just head here great views and nice vibe of music as well WINNER 5/5

Ok. I’ll start off with some TIPS and some points you should be aware of: 1. BOOK ahead. Don’t walk in and start moaning you can’t get a seat, as I heard several people do. The place is FULL everyday after 5pm and requires booking if you want a guaranteed seat. 2. The rooftop is very SMALL. As such there are different tables. The BEST tables are on the outside. The downside is that these tables are colder to sit at, but with unrivalled views. The further back you are, the lesser the view. The best table is in the top right hand corner if you are facing away from the bar. REQUEST a table by the ledge if you want good views. If you want to be warm, request a seat by the windows near the outdoor heaters. As of Sep 2024, there is a building site to the right of the bar. I would avoid sitting that side and put this in the your request. Not a great view from this end. 3. You have been warned…. It’s WINDY!! All year round. Very windy in fact. Dress appropriately. There is only a very small screen providing protection from the wind. 4. It can be very COLD! It’s London, we don’t get much sun and even when we do, evening times the sun sets in the west and the bar is located on the east side of the building and therefore it’s in the shade. Bring and jacket or a coat. Blankets and outdoor heaters are provided but we found it very chilly nonetheless. 5. It’s VERY expensive! Expect to pay around min £45 for a bottle of wine, £90 for a bottle of champagne, £7 for a small 330ml beer and £5 for a soft drink. All in all nice treat, but go eyes wide open, as I saw people come in who were woefully under prepared for all points I’ve mentioned above!

Good location decent food and drink but the customers lanes having sex behind us probably spoilt it a little. Get a room not a table

It was my first visit to this rooftop bar and it has now become my favourite spot! Fantastic location, not too ‘full on rooftop’ as in the vibe is nice, it’s small and no ridiculous ‘themed brunches’ that I actively try to avoid.

I was given the boring seat where I can view the face of receptionist on the reception even the terrace wasn’t busy at all .. could see empty seats . Some guys walked in they got the best spot to seat. View top tier but depends where you get to seat . Next time I will think twice and also don’t like how they serve the wine.

I was served a grilled calamari that included its innards (inside the body tube), which were uncooked / raw. The staff were quite helpful, offering to exchange the dish and providing complimentary fries and soft drink - although without asking / offering any choice. That said, the experience was completely ruined, and this is not something I would have expected of this restaurant.

Spectacular place to eat (on the terrace) since you can see Big Ben, the Ferris Wheel, and you are right next to Trafalgar Suárez, which you can see perfectly. The food was very good, as was the attention of the waiters. You have to reserve in advance. It's worth it to eat with a view.

Made a reservation for 7:15 and there were absolutely no accommodations or communication regarding our reservation. There were no tables or space available and it was extremely small with not as much as anticipated space. Waited in a line of 5 people with 1 bartender, needless to say we walked out and went to the french diner bar downstairs!

Best little spot in Trafalgar. Three things that go together: Dark and Stormy, Lord Nelson and Tall Ship Lynx.

Wow. Amazing location with a lovely view. Service and drinks were amazing. To be honest I didn’t try any food just the desert (sticky toffee pudding) was really disappointed with that as it was really dry. However, the atmosphere and views made up for it. Definitely recommended as a romantic spot.

Very delicious food, great view over the city and exquisite atmosphere. Extremely friendly personel who takes good care of you. Even brought us extra healthy snacks on the house because they thought it would take longer to prepare the main course. For us, it didn't feel like we were waiting that long :) We were sitting outside under the canopy while it was raining. It wasn't that cold, and there was no wind. Nonetheless, they have nice warm blankets on the stools. All in all, it was very cozy.

A BIG LET DOWN AND RIP OFF . A massive let down , our first and last visit to this place, I have booked the "ROOFTOP" Table deposit £50 and in return we had table inside some old deco , no difference if you site In dungeon let alone rooftop. The host ( girl ) was rude and lying to all the customers that we all will have table outside, but no one ever had a table outside. We overheard many customers asking and expecting tables on the "ROOFTOP" but they were inside, after talking to them we all decided to leave the place, we waited 1h to have a table outside but no luck , paid some ridiculous prices I.e £17 for small glass of rose wine.. We don't mind paying the price ,but only if we get the table and the view , which was not the case. Please avoid this place , if you dont believe go.have experience yourself, not worth it , will never recommend to anyone , when you will se the picture you know what I mean , will 0 stars if there is an option . Ridiculous Buy a bottle of wine from tesco next door and sit in trafalgar Square.... much better atmosphere👌

Good rooftop well in the centre of the city! Went there for a brief drink to enjoy the rare good weather and even though the space was a little small, the cocktails were good and the prices were within the range of what we were expecting for a rooftop in london. What stood out the most was the service - it was excellent! Claudia was amazing, very kind and made wonderful suggestions for our drinks! Her good mood and smile made the experience much more wonderful. Grazi ;)

Lovely rooftop bar overlooking Trafalgar Square. Friendly staff and nice cocktails. The outside space is mostly covered and has heaters and blanket for the cold weather. Booking is recommended as it gets busy in the late afternoon.

4/2024 ~ A great location at the Trafalgar Square with a spectacular view of Big Ben, London Eye and many more skyscrapers! Great staff, wide range of drinks and appetizers / nibbles, etc. One of the hotspots of Trafalgar!

The rooftop bar is a lovely place to relax and enjoy great food and drinks. The view is beautiful and staff is very welcoming, food and drinks is a little pricey but worth the price. Must try the gluten free chocolate cake with honeycomb ice cream it's absolutely delicious.

Whether it’s the best coffee and breakfast from Ismail and the team through to the excellent evening food and atmosphere it is always the place to be and to enjoy. Always a warm welcome from Dawit - a lovely team of people looking after a special place.

We had the most amazing time at The Rooftop Trafalgar St James! We had the pleasure of Raphael, bar manager, Claudia and Beatrice’s company who went above and beyond and were exceptionally friendly and kind in making our experience so memorable! We will be back!

Definitely one of the best lunch rooftop spot in London with an iconic view on Trafalgar Square! Burger and beatroot falafel was amazing!

We made a very impromptu visit, nipping up to the rooftop on a rainy night for a couple of cocktails. At least there was a table free in such weather! No worries about the cold and rain though, with cover, heaters and heated cushions. Service was impeccable; our waiter was a delight. Cocktails were very pleasant, and not badly priced for the setting. The view is fantastic.

Been here several times, it's great for drinks and they do have a food menu. The views of Trafalgar Square are beautiful if you're lucky enough to get a table on that side. The staff is friendly and attentive.

A great spot for a drink and a unique view of one of the most iconic spots in London. The small plates and cocktails were excellent, but it is a little pricey.

Francoise is excellent. Came here multiple days for breakfast and had A+ 5 star service thanks to Francoise and his team. Excellent breakfast choices, eggs Benedict, coffees, and more. Well run, lots of food choices, and great juice. Nice view too, although cloudy.

I was staying at the hotel and wanted to try it. The views outside were great. Was very impressed with the cheeseburger we had, one of the best burgers I’ve had. The service was excellent.

Popped in for cocktails and watch the Norwegian Xmas Tree being lit up.

Very nice food and great location. Service was an issue though and we had to wait 40 min for our entrées and drinks to be served despite the fact we were the only ones there.

This place is like an airport. They don't really need returning customers so don't really care about service, price or quality. Because they have the location and the view of Trafalgar, they will always get tourists and people coming there. We are locals from London, and were seated at the very back inside and it was agony. The service was really quite comical. And sassy too. Totally overpriced and the cocktails were not good. I think if you sit on the balcony outside you might get your money's worth because at least you have the view. But yeah. A shame. Makes you feel embarrassed. Would have loved to take people there but no thanks. Better off at the pub.

Great little find. Follow signs into hotel. Passed reception and up in lift. 7 floors up. Views towards and over trafalgar square. Drinks and food. Demonstration when we were there so observing from a date distance.

Lovely rooftop bar that my partner and I stumbled upon at the start of an evening out. We had a fantastic waiter who steered me away from my first choice cocktail and on to something far better!

Enjoyed high quality food and cocktails at this popular restaurant located atop the Trafalgar St. James Hotel in London. None of our selections disappointed but special mention of the flavorful Pork Ribs and Grilled Seabass! The view is wonderful and goes along with the casual atmosphere. For our dinner, sweaters sufficed but know your weather before you go if you're planning to sit outside. Suggest making a reservation and checking the website for age limitations depending on time and day. 'Pricey' but can't complain given how much we enjoyed the evening.

A much smaller patio than anticipated, packed for sunset at 1800, the staff seems fairly new to service and inattentive. Took 10min just to take a drink order, and we had to call the waitstaff back just to take a dinner order 30min later, it was like no particular employee was assigned any specific tables. Food was great however not sure that and the half view of the square is worth the £50 minimum. Definitely isn’t winning any Michelin stars any time soon to say the least.

The worst costume service I have seen I had to phone up to book as there was a problem with the booking online. I was told that I had a booking and had givin my name and was told that need to be here before my booking time as they cod not take card payment over the phone. We got there 30min before the booking then found out that the lady who tock my booking did not book it, the had to wait for some who can take a food order to find out the the where closed joke. They wear rude and disrespectful. Had to leave. If you can not mange your staff please don’t let the answer the phone. Over all very.

Food was average, the service was very slow except when we asked for the bill. The ptmosphere was nice . However its very expensive for what you get. I would probably try it just for one drink as its not worth spending too much money.

Impossible to cancel if you book through sevenrooms. Then you get charged £25 per person. They recommend you ring a telephone number but nobody answers this number - I'm disgusted and angry 😡

Nice ambiance. Would come here again. Wasn't too crowded, & just the right balance between posh & chill. Drinks were made well.

You don't come here for the food and drink, of course, but the view isn't the only draw as the service and cuisine are both impressive. Just check to make sure the weather is perfect before visiting.

Reserved a table, came in, and left as there was heavy rain. Called up as advised, but there no answer. Charged £50. disgraceful.

The food, drinks, and service were only surpassed by the view of London. The staff created such an elegant birthday dinner for my family and I could not have been happier how the entire evening went. Thank you to the staff specifically for a wonderful experience.

Great views which echos most of the reviews here. We came for lunch on a Sunday so wasn't too busy. Service was also great and staff were attentive. Only ciristim for me was the food. Small portions for the prices and quality not as expected for a rooftop location in Central London. Without the views, many a restaurant in London would give this place a real run for it's money. Would come back but only for a drink.

We weren’t blown away. On a sunny day I’m sure it’s a lovely space to spend an afternoon, but between the music (fine for late evening but out of place for late afternoon); the very drunk/loud clientele who kept being served; the food which was nice but vastly overpriced; service ok, nothing to write home about. We wouldn’t return.

Excellent views, great service. Didn’t feel too crowded even though it was pretty full. Nice music in the background but not too loud so you can have a conversation.

Went ad hoc for a quick lunch. Seen this on MIC a few times so thought I’d try it out. It was lovely a real experience. Great cocktails plus the selection of cold cuts was enough for two and great quality. Service brilliant and great views of London. Thanks

A lovely place to go for a nice cocktail, and great views of trafalgar square in the sunshine. As to be expected in this area of London, it is a little pricey but worth it for the amazing views and great service you get in return. The cocktails are also delicious!

The view is really nice and the food was good but service was quite slow, we had to wait more than 20 minutes for our first drink and the spicy margarita was bad, which was disappointing from a cocktail bar. The dj looked extremely bored and the music seemed to be on a loop forever. Overall the whole thing was ok but underwhelming, I defo wouldn’t recommend. Much better service and food/cocktail quality in other similar places.
