The Riverside Restaurant in Craigavon

18 of Killicomaine Jubilee Club went here for our Christmas Lunch. The room was freezing ( a member of staff did bring a tiny fan heater out). No Christmas decorations on the tables, not even a cracker or Christmas napkins. No background music. The turkey parcels were only half ones, one cocktail sausage, one roast potato and mashed potatoes Roast beef dinner consisted of 2 wafer thin slices and same as above without the cocktail sausage. Plenty of vegetables. The dessert wasn't the greatest either. Our end of year meal and venue was so disappointing. One of the members described it as soulless and that's what it was at a cost of £19.95 each. Not a bit of wonder we were the only one's there

Sunday meal. Service very slow . Turkey tough , roast potato looked as though it had just been reheated. Bland taste gravy - meal lacked freshly cooked taste . Leek and potato soup too salty and again questionable whether it was freshly made. Disappointing as it had been recommended by a friend . Whilst price was reasonable, sadly won’t be returning.

Took my family for dinner , five of us . Food was excellent and great value for money , the service was fast and the staff really helpful . We have now started to have Sunday lunch, I would recommend it to all.

Been lots and again cannot fault the food, recent menu change keeps it fresh and interesting, the butter chicken really good and the lamb shank perfect, great value putting other restaurants to shame when you look at what they charge for poorer tasting food

The so called topside roast beef was vile I’ve had good and bad beef and this was below that I’ve tasted better from Iceland freezer isle and I’m being honest, it was definitely not the best a chef could do for the price and I definitely wouldn’t eat there again there was more colours, veins and fat in just one bit of beef it was like trying to eat leather I was afraid to eat another bite

Ok , we decided to go early around 6:30 in the evening, had a drink ordered food and had to wait just over an hour before service,, well ok ,, food on the most was just ok,, few small things to note the champ ordered with the chicken dish well was just mash,,the duck I ordered was very tough,,very disappointing,everything else was for everyone was good, and the single dessert was brilliant, suppose not made purchased in but perfect. Been lots before and been lots better,,and will be back, please please please sort out wait times and don’t over cook the duck,,, super thanks.

First time to dine there and will be my last ordered my meal with my daughter starter came side salad very poor and all wilted mushrooms creamated waited for 45minutes for main to come only for barman asked us were we finished and we said we were waiting on our dinner to come he went into kitchen and discovered the waitress had given our main course to another couple that had ordered a different dinner when we did get our dinner meat was good my daughter could only eat the carrots as she doesn’t eat turnip or cabbage no alternative mashed potatoes were mashed and presses down in dish no fluffy potatoes overall bad experience won’t be back

My husband booked st the restaurant for me to have my surprise 60th birthday lunch. My family arrived to set up on Sunday before I arrived. My son was told the chef was sick. My husband was not notified by any staff member. Being the 13th Feb he could not book any luncheon at 12:30 when my son told him about the chef being ill. Certainly some staff member should have contacted husband to make alternate arrangements not have family members travelling over an hour to be told this. Extremely disappointed with how we were treated. Hence no surprise 60th birthday lunch for me.

I made a booking for a 60th birthday celebration lunch on Sunday 13th Feb. On arrival invited guests were told that the restaurant was closed for a week. That's understandable in Covid times, but I would have expected that someone would have bothered to call and inform people who had made bookings so that alternate arrangements could have been made.

I went here on my first day in Portadown - a Sunday. The Riverside Restaurant was inside the golf club and I was surprised that the place was virtually empty. Red wine was served in miniature bottles, if you order by the glass. The decor was nothing special (which was a shame) but the food was certainly wholesome and very generous in portion size. I had the sole goujons and they were the best goujons I had ever eaten. The dining area was spacious so I was surprised that few tables were occupied as the price of the food was very reasonable indeed.

I was at a charity function at the golf club last weekend. I was late home from work and didn't have anything to eat before setting off. On arrival in the bar/function room area it was apparent food was available and my wife and I ordered from the varied menu. She had the burger and I had the nicest chicken curry I think I've ever tasted. I had to go back that way on Sunday and made reason to call again for the curry in case I was wrong. I wasn't. Top marks to this venue, I'll be back. P.S value for money into the bargain.

The moment we came in we were sat down and our orders were taken, the waitress was really helpful and friendly. We waited about 10 minutes and then brought to our table, the atmosphere was very friendly, the meal was lovely and very reasonably price, we had a nice view of the golf course. The waitress definitely deserved a tip.

Go down to Riverside restaurant almost every Sunday. It is lovely getting lunch sat down in front of you. Stephen definitely cooks everything perfectly. Roast beef a favourite of mine. Staff is very friendly and always have a wee chat. Very nice.

Service was very good and food was very wholesome. Restaurant seating area could do with an upgrade perhaps.

Tenants and staff attended Christmas Dinner in the Riverside restaurant today. We were made to feel very welcome the restaurant was beautifully prepared.The meal of Turkey Ham and trimmings was excellent and hot on serving and desserts choice of Christmas Pud. Pavlova or Chocolate fudge cake.All served with a smile from the lovely staff who were led by Julie Grateful thanks to the Chef Stephen for a lovely meal. Thoroughly recommend a visit. We'll be back.

Luckily arrived just before Stephen the chef headed off for his own dinner! Decided to go for starters as they looked so good. Pate for three and battered mushrooms for one. All delicious! Main courses ordered were two beef and two lamb and there was certainly plenty to go round and all very tasty. Even had to ask for some of the meat to be wrapped in foil to take home for the dog, which our waitress gladly did for us. That was one happy dog, I can tell you! Only managed two desserts between the four of us (pavlova and apple crumble) and the other two had cafe royale (brandy coffees) which were both made to our exact specifications and absolutely spot on! Thanks again for a lovely meal and excellent service. Highly recommended!

Didn't book in advance, but greeted with a friendly smile and had the pick of tables in the bar to choose from as we arrived mid afternoon when the restaurant was quiet. Ordered fish courses from the weekend specials menu, sea bass for one and crab cakes for three of us. Food was delicious and tasted so fresh with a real tang to the lemon mayonnaise. Main course was so good we all decided to have a dessert, which everyone agreed was also very good. Two of us had toffee bananas with ice cream, with two chocolate orange cheesecakes and ice cream. Will be returning for Sunday lunch on the strength of today, so hope it's just as good. No reason to doubt it, if we're lucky enough to get the same chef (Stephen) who took the time and trouble to come and speak to us afterwards, to ask if we were happy with our meal. Such a pleasure to meet a genuine guy who obviously enjoys what he does and appreciates positive feedback, which was most certainly deserved. Thank you again.

Food is lovely.. service is spot on and very good for people with food allergies

I've eaten here many times in the past, even had our wedding reception here. Called again today for Sunday lunch as we hadn't been for a while and it was great as always. From choice of starters, (I had a bowl of tasty veg broth) to the choice of mains, (my choice was turkey and ham and was fantastic although the roast beef looked great as well and my wife lived it) to the desserts, (my cheesecake was very tasty while my parents pavlova looked really very nice) the food was well presented and the portions were plentiful. Stephen runs a good kitchen and his staff are a credit to him. His steaks are always spot on and although I dont eat fish, it is his speciality and from anyone I've spoken to, its every bit as good as anything else he prepares. Well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Went for lunch today with my wife and son and his partner. Everything appeared very chaotic. It was obvious Stephen wasn't there as it is always a good experience when he is on hand. To sum up a long saga it took 2 hours to order and get served a very poor meal. Only got served when I went the kitchen and complained. Will only be back if I know Stephen and the usual waiting staff are on duty.

One of my favourite fish restaurant's has just been nominated as best fish restaurant in N Ireland Fish is always excellent and very good service Fancy hake, lobster or crab, can't be beaten

Visited today for our Sunday lunch, excellent quality an quantity with friendly staff an exceptional service! Anyone looking for an excellent dining room experience with fabulous food irrespective of the day, I would highly recommend.

Have had a few meals here and has never disappointed the food and service is always good add to this value for money and it is a restaurant that shouldn't be passed by

La comida es básica una igual que haría en casa. La elección de proveedor es bueno y el servicio amable. He deseado volver aquí por algún tiempo, como supongo que unos 20 años desde la última aquí. Podría ser que largo de nuevo. Buenos precios y la parrillada mixta era buena. Al final es un glorioso cafe.

Esta es mi segunda visita en los últimos meses. Esta vez fue un acto de caridad donde estaban totalmente para una gran multitud. La comida se servía en estilo buffet y todo rápido y eficaz y de alta calidad. Te recomiendo para cualquier función que son capaces de satisfacer a la gente.

Been using the Riverside for family and friends for many years now and on very few occasions have I ever been disappointed. Chef and staff always go the extra mile to accommodate!

So today my partner and I tried the 3x course Sunday Lunch for £14.50 each at The Riverside Restaurant based in Portadown Golf Club.The Setting:The interior decor of the club house is lacking a bit, views aren't great of the course however the atmosphere more than makes up for it as it is quite relaxing and chilled.That's unfortunately where most of the good points end, a lot of restaurants now offer excellent value menus like this however the barr has been set at the standard of food quality and The Riverside unfortunately doesn't meet that.The Food:Now I have to first mention the wait for the food, after ordering it took 25 minutes to have starters to use which were acceptable for what they were.Main was then another 30 mins after plates were taken and the wait I'm sorry to say was not worth it. The food was very dry and over cooked and no one came back to use to ask how it was so we couldn't even ask for more gravy.Desserts were very bland, which I didn't know was possible with chocolate fudge cake. Even sugar sprinkled across the top for he Apple Tart would of gone a long way. They had a distinct heated from frozen feel as well as being made some time before we actually got it.The Service:The first time I have ever been seated, ordered with the waitress but had to get my own drink from the bar and pay for it separately. A feel of an almost dysfunctional restaurant within the club is what was picked up on yet the waitresses accessed the bar when they wanted.The Problem:I have to say though the worst part of this whole visit was somewhere between the starter and main an additional bar man appeared to start his shift and pranced about with his chest hair full on show around the lounge with people eatting!Many it could be seen trying to ignore starting conversation but he proceeded to open the divide in to what I assume was a function room that was recently used (most likely the night before). Now, trying to make conversation with tables and chairs being pulled along a wooden floor is very difficult but what made it worse was the whistling and talking (more like shouting) across to tables of people trying to eat.There was utterly not consideration for diners and after almost 30 minutes of this we were glad to leave.Summary:I am basing my two start review with one star going to the waitress who served us and another for the atmosphere of the club.If it was solely to review the restaurant it would of only have been 1 star.

We love our Sunday lunch at the golf club. It is always fantastic!!! Staff are great and food is amazing. Would love to go every Sunday!!

Asistí a una función en el Club de Golf y debo decir que tenía una comida fabulosa. El tamaño de las porciones fueron muy generosos. Tuve mayonesa huevo para empezar que venía con una ensalada maravillosa lateral. Carne fue mi elección para el plato principal una porción muy generosa con patatas asadas y salsa y lados de puré de patatas y verduras mixtas. Las verduras estaba perfectamente preparado. El viejo favorito helado de tarta de manzana y no me decepcionó. El servicio era excelente en controlar una joya Julie puro no hay dinero que compre. En general, una gran experiencia estamos deseando volver.

Took my family to Riverside for Lunch last Sunday as they were o. Their way back from Donegal

Comida excelente, un ambiente encantador. Los días y las velas ha redecorado el restaurante se encuentra en la mesa con las velas encendidas era muy agradable. Emma nuestra camarera era muy atento y el servicio era de primera clase. Dos de nosotros tuvimos el rodaballo, que era una fotografía de la placa y sabor excepcional. Una comida excelente y disfrutamos de nuestros visitantes americana.

Hard to beat the "prawn salad", plenty of prawns, salad, tomatoes, egg, beetroot, spring onions, potato salad, cucumber and chips!A great improvement to the carpark, recently resurfaced, clubhouse repainted, new seating, window blinds, a great improvement Both restaurant and barstaff as helpful and friendly as usual!

Portion size - small How is 8 chips put in a small bowl classed as a chip? It's either hit or miss. Food not consistent. Either burger raw in the middle or over cooked. Salad - a few leaves on your plate with fine slices of red onion Way over priced for all the size of portion you get plus really not a great menu selection.Don't eat here often but didsappointed when we do. Really you don't get your monies worth!!

Went for Sunday lunch, food was absolutely lovely and portion sizes were very generous. Staff were lovely and very friendly. Very child friendly also, staff took time to speak to our child and made sure that all was ok. The lounge area is very comfortable and clean. Toilets were also amazing and smelt nice and fresh. All round lovely peaceful place to eat with excellent service from the staff.

I was surprised to learn this restaurant is open to the general public as I always thought you had to be a member to eat here. First of all the entrance is badly lit so you could almost miss it and the road up to the clubhouse is full of potholes. You have to press an intercom to get in and once inside apart from the glass cases of silverware you would actually think you were entering a nursing home. The bar area is drab and dismal and so outdated it has to be seen to be believed. It badly needs a major overhaul and only I had been told the food was good I would have been tempted to walk back out again.There was a 3-course menu on offer which had a good choice of dishes and if memory serves me well was only £13.95 per person. There was also main menu with plenty of choice and all at very good prices. I choose the Lamb Shank and my friend got the Scampi both of which were delicious and plentiful. This place has potential to be so much better but needs serious attention paid to the surroundings. I would recommend it despite the decor.

Had a lovely three course meal here one Thursday evening. The bar area where you are served is a little off putting but clean and comfortable! Prawn starter was delicious served with fresh wheaten! Steak main was cooked to perfection and side dishes were huge! Could highly recommend the steak main and cheesecake dessert! Everyone (a party of 7) was very pleased! Has a lot more potential as food is very high standard!!

I have seen advertising boards along the Gilford road for the Riverside restaurant for a while now so we decided to try it for Sunday lunch. I was quite surprised how run down Portadown golf club has become. The bar area where we ate was very dated but that wouldn't necessarily put me off as long as it's clean, which it was! The waitress was very friendly and brought some life to the place. A typical Sunday lunch menu at a reasonable price was on offer and I chose the bacon and lentil soup followed by roast beef. Although the soup tasted nice I don't understand why it was served in a half filled bowl with a white bap between my friend and I . I have to say I've never been served only the top half of a bap before!!!! The roast beef was ok, good, large, thick slices but the same slice varied from tender at one end to tough at the other! Please drain the veg before putting into the serving dish.I can't quite decide what to make of the place as the food has potential and would be good value if it was just improved slightly. However I couldn't recommend to anyone based on today's meal
