Been past so many times but eventually went in. Staff were really friendly and service prompt but not hurried. Nice to go somewhere with a tea menu

Called in for a coffee. A popular tearoom in the High Street with a nice atmosphere. Gets busy, had a wait for my coffee as most people were eating. Would recommend.

Great place to stop, relax and enjoy the moment

Didn't get to try any food as we were left sitting there for 15 minutes after being told to be seated.. and people that came in after us were getting served.. Just total ignorance.

Four of us had lunch here on Saturday 16th March. Very friendly and helpful staff, very clean premises and the food was delicious, my Americano coffee was top-notch too! Will definitely return.

Our second visit months apart and it was just as good as the first. Despite being almost full to capacity we were offered one of only two spare tables and we were served within minutes. Lovely atmosphere, nice and clean inside as well as full of character. Good menu with plenty of choice and all at very reasonable prices. I particularly recommend the Lemon Meringue!

Lovely, quiet and friendly. The service was very good. They have a great selection of teas and cakes. The honeycomb cake was fantastic but we found the chocolate cake a little dry.

Nearly always full of customers, good food and decent prices.

The last 3 occasions we have visited, it has gone downhill. The latest visit will be our last ever. My breakfast was served then nothing for my wife, so I waited more than 5 minutes went by so my wife enquired. They took my plate reheated it in a microwave then brought out my wife's on uncooked toast. Rubbish service, bad food.

Lovely, calm and relaxed atmosphere with quaint vintage tea vibe. I highly recommend the Avacado Crunch. 🌿☕🌿

My first visit to the remedy tea shop was with my wife and 4 years' old son, on our way to the seaside. On the occasion, we couldn't sit in so we took a cappuccino away, in good hope we'd likely find better coffee here, compared to other places around. There's friendly, efficient service and a very pleasant, rustic environment, but we were both disappointed by the quality of the coffee and it's a pity because a good coffee is a must with/after a good breakfast. In other words, due to the poor quality coffee, it's unlikely we will chose to come back for breakfast, despite the very positive reviews. When you serve something, it's better be really good and, vice versa, if it is not good enough, better not serve it at all.

Extremely good breakfast. I can even say their vegetarian option could be one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Their portions are generous, and the pot of tea is plentiful. An absolute must-visit for breakfast.

Worth going. Lacks one star only because of the difficulty in parking nearby and awkward entrance for wheelchairs.

We had Fresh salad with Goats cheese and it was a great brunch. Quantity was good and a big cuppa cappuccino helped.

Food always good but there is an aroma about the cups and plates at times that makes me think the washing up Water could be changed more frequently ….. i have mentioned it and it’s improved…. Depends who is in charge on the day probably……. But as I stated food always great and staff lovely too……. Just wish this issue could be addressed ….. it’s common in eateries

We had 2 good English breakfasts and juice. Lovely atmosphere and great interior. Service is friendly and polite.

This tea shop is an absolute delight. You can imagine being out in a country village tea shop. There are paintings on the walls which really give this place a country feel. And yet this tea shop is in the heart of southend. The food is excellent. The service is a match for the food. What more could one ask for.

Very nice atmosphere, afternoon tea was incredibly nice - every component of it. To top it off the staff are very kind and friendly. Couldn't recommend it enough

The Remedy tea shop is a cute little cafe in South End. We stopped here for brunch on a lovely Saturday morning (no booking required). We got seated immediately, and the lovely Kinga too our orders. Food and drinks came out quickly. It was well cooked and nicely presented. Portion sizes were very generous. Good food, a nice atmosphere, and a few laughs - exactly what the Dr ordered.

Not very good for babies and toddlers as they only have the one highchair which is stored in the toilet! Very tight with there milk I asked if I could have some milk for my coffee , was told the milk was with my friends tea, I said so that tiny pot of milk is for my my coffee as well as my friends tea , was told yes , when there wasn’t enough milk for us both I then when back and asked for more milk , they begrudgingly gave me a thimble full of milk , however the food is lovely I can’t fault the food , don’t know if would go back it’s hard with a baby if the highchair already in use and not hygienic it being stored in the toilet , great place to visit if you don’t have a baby and you like you’re tea/coffee super hot

A very busy tea shop. Very good menu, food, service and atmosphere. Gets very busy which shows how good it is.

Had full English breakfast - cheap, low quality produce used, not cooked great either. For the price, I find this place difficult to recommend Edit: I appreciate response, first of all it is to my discretion how I share my feedback. Second of all we were never asked how was our food, it was me who approached the waitress to make a payment by the counter. And you remember so well what we had, but don't remember that you've put avocado instead of halloumi on my gfs toast and then just scrubbed it off but there were still pieces of it left on the bread? Definitely won't be visiting again.

Visited the tea room in Hockley garden centre today as I’ve previously been to the shop in Southend which was lovely. Rude is all I can say. I walked in and it appeared the lady behind the counter was in a bit of a bad mood (think another customer had just sent a drink back), she left me standing for ages without even acknowledging me. When she finally asked what i would like, I asked if dogs were allowed inside, she said no which is obviously fair enough but then had to sit at a dirty table outside. I asked for a menu, she said she would send it out…why couldn’t she hand me a menu.. anyway, I went back to my table then a few minutes later another girl came out with the menus. After deciding what we would like, I went back in and joined the queue. When it came to my turn to be served she told me to go back to my table and wait to be served there! Why??? I went back to my table and waited but nobody came out so we left without ordering. I work in this industry and would not want staff like this letting down my business. I won’t be returning to this branch again. This is your establishment. I just checked on Facebook, the Hockley branch is just a branch of your main shop in Southend.

Very Good Customer Service!! Quick and Efficient

Great potential not delivered. The lunch service was attentive and with a smile, but so lacking in natural flair or training. There was no need to reach across the customers at the table or throw the cutlery down any way. Neither should all the used plates have been stacked on the table right in front of one customer. The food was ok, but the ‘mature’ cheese didn’t taste of much or if it did it was hidden by all the stuff spread over it and over the limp salad. Then the crisps were like scrapings out of the bottom of the packet. The toilet was clean but it would help if there was toilet paper somewhere on the premises! So overall it wasn’t bad but could have been so much better.

Lovely cafe, nice atmosphere but terrible service. My coffee tasted incredibly bitter and I couldn’t drink it, I was then told it was because of the oat milk and was my fault. I was then told that they only use the finest coffee, etc etc. huge fuss over nothing. The waitress then refused to take it off the menu, claiming she never makes bad coffee, then made a huge fuss about making me try an espresso using the coffee to prove her point. I don’t like espresso, so I politely declined. She even went through the effort to make my partner a latte to prove to him I was wrong when she could have simply made me another coffee and avoided the whole drama. In the end they took a very small amount off the bill (not even the value of the original awful coffee), which doesn’t make up for the poor service and the fuss made for simply asking for a non bitter coffee. Should have gone to greggs.

Lovely quaint and homely tea room, staff very friendly and attentive. Food look and tasted lovely. Atmosphere was relaxed. Definitely recommend this tea room.

Quaint and consistent, staff are okay and it's normally very busy. It's great if you just want a sandwich or a coffee.

Fantastic place all round...just a shame they used bland Square processed cheese in their toasties instead of a decent mature cheddar!!

Great, good food and surroundings

An absolute joy of a place to visit. We enjoyed afternoon tea and scones, but this place offers a quite wide menu. Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Service was excellent, prices competitive and food quality good. Thoroughly recommended.

From the cosy decor to the well selected menu it is just perfect for a great cup of tea and a bite to eat. Very friendly staff and exceptionally clean. Prices are very affordable and the food well presented in ample portions. Will definitely visit again.

What a lovely place! We've been there for a coffee and a slice of cake (delicious!) and enjoyed the beauty of this cute tearoom, where is also possible to have breakfast or lunch. Nice a kind staff. Everybody should spend some time there!

Slow to get menu. Slow service. Butter came out in dish melting so wrappers were covered in hot butter. Ate my t cake before hubby sarnie came out. Had to shout for coffees and both cold so left them ON YOP OF WHICH PRICES UP went often..never again

Such a cute little cafe, just what we needed to start our day! Came here for brunch and enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Highly recommend when you’re visiting Southend-on-sea.

A great little break in the heart of southend

Lovely little tea room, prices were reasonable. We were seated quickly however 2 other tables were seated after us but were before us, had there drinks and food before we were served. Not so good on there customer service.

First time I have been there took my mum for pre mother's day lunch. Staff was so friendly made us feel so welcome food was lovely and made my mums day special 😀 Thanks again ladies definitely be back!

Very disappointed! After a 35 minute wait my chicken, bacon, avocado sandwich was cold and I had no time to have it remade. Waitress was lovely but when I went to pay the lady said she wouldn't charge me for mine (but I'd had nothing). Eventually she said ok you can have your coffee free. My daughter had egg benedict

Lovely mix of tables and seats including sofas and armchairs. Food is great and generous portions, lovely atmosphere very relaxed didn't feel rushed.

Lovely little tea room always busy

Went with my partner about a week ago for breakfast and it was fantastic. The food and tea were both great and the atmosphere is very charming and relaxing. Will definitely be back to try the different tea on the menu.

What an amazing little place. Staff are extremely lovely and the food is amazing, and very reasonably priced. Quirky miss-matched furniture is very comfortable. If I lived nearer I would go there all the time. Most definitely worth a visit.

Very pretty inside and friendly waitress. However very poor quality ingredients. Cheap butter and tasteless jam. Scone shop bought, dry and poor quality with only one butter pat for £3.50. Expensive!!!! (Needed a butter from partner’s tea cake as so dry) Tea cake bland. Such a pity as with better produce could be nice. Unfortunately we will not be back.

You should visit this Caffe when you in Southend on sea. Lovely breakfast good price, very typical British homeliness and good service. Been twice now total of 4 visits and will be back again.

Used to be great, now not so much…

I gave this a give star rating before the lockdown and was exceptionally pleased with its vegan menu. However this time round there was only one visible offering of vegan food on the menu and when I asked for the other menu the lady said it was all in together. When I asked about of they had anything else vegan they did say they could make a couple of things vegan for me. I had the jacket potato with avocado and mushrooms which was nice but would have liked to have had the menu back as before.

Lovely food and I could get a green tea so all good 🙂

We were so happy to finally return to sit down inside a cafe and feel some return to normality this morning (17th May 2021) However, I think they must have forgotten how to make cappuchino coffee and prepare toast! Toast looked like it had only glanced at the toaster was barely browned, and capp was very hot as ordered, but also was shockingly watery not even a taste of coffee, was very, very weak! Didn't send it back as we didn't want to make a fuss and quite frankly were just so happy to be able to sit and chat to each other. But when waitress came to clear the table we did comment on how terrible the coffee was. The response was 'mention it when you come in again'? Are they joking.....🤔 UPDATED REPLY to the owner response below.....As I said we were just so happy to be out in a cafe for once. However, its your opinion my review was not justified, I think it was. The girl did briefly 'chat' only to ask if we had finished, so she could whisk the dishes away! We DID tell her regarding the coffee, and it was a foreign girl who made the statement which we obviously misunderstood. This still does not change my review

Lovely little cafe with an excellent vegan menu. Friendly staff but they said I was unable to book in advance and had to take a chance! Glad I did though.

Me and my daughter went for breakfast very disappointing a sausage sandwich £5 thought come n bloomer bread no salad on side not worth it I had scrambled egg only two toast and eggs cold won't be going back
