Went there last night was well suprised how clean and friendly it is lovely food and friendly staff and prompt service, well visit again

We had heard good things about the reopened Red Lion and weren't disappointed , the food was beautiful and great value. The staff were friendly and polite. We couldn't ask for more, definitely recommend 👍

Service so-so but food delicious so I’ll probably give it another chance. Hope they do takeaway too.

Place looks amazing, superb food better than any Indian in and around Worcester, this please is the real deal. Friendly staff great service and have really crated an amazing atmosphere!! Will be back soon!

We popped in for a pint Saturday after noticing the Now Open sign up. First thing that hit us was the smell of Indian cuisine. The next thing I know we've got a table full of food in the beer garden and a very,very happy and content Simon. Excellent. We will be back within days not weeks.

Tried it out tonight .11.5.24..had medium mixed grill and pilau rice.food was great and the pilau rice was some of the best iv had .basic restaurant. Menu limited as far as options are concerned .staff very helpful and friendly.posibly a bit cheaper than other Indian restaurants in the area but not much..will go again .its a different experience.

Good food, needed some music for the atmosphere. Needed more delegation to ensure smooth transactions when coming to paying for the bill.

We came to the bar just on the way through and came across a couple who were so welcoming and friendly. We ended up coming 2 nights on a row, they were so friendly and accommodating. At one point we were too late to get dinner anywhere, we came bacK to the pub and they put the ovens on and cooked us what we wanted. They really know how To treat new comers. The pub garden is lovely as well xx

Went to the Red Lion for the first time since lockdown, the restaurant is back open serving good pub grub, well cooked and in generous measures, the staff and management make you fell really welcome and its a good relaxed atmosphere. It's time to step up and support our local pubs following this difficult period.

Greeted very warmly and it soon became clear that nothing was too much trouble. Service was friendly and helpful without being fussy - very accommodating and willing to alter/adapt food on menu. We had mains and desserts and the food was excellent - great portions, really tasty and obviously cooked with care. Really thoughtful touches in terms of service for my mum who has recently had a stroke. We’ve signed up for the loyalty card and we’re going back this week!

First time visiting today with a friend who goes regularly. Very welcoming pub from the moment you step in to the moment you leave. Food was lovely and even catered for my very fussy son and cooked him something up. Will definitely be visiting again.

The Red Lion hosted and catered for my husbands birthday yesterday, we had family and friends including children, as well as several dietary requirements. We were made very welcome, part of the pub was closed off just for us and the food was delicious with a number of different options made specially for us as a hot buffet. Kate, Stephen and their staff were endlessly attentive and we all had a really great afternoon. Very definitely recommend 😀😋

Went with local lunch group of retired gents as we go for local pub lunches around the area, to check out the pub with its new owners, The Land lady front of house was excellent in her welcome and service could not be bettered. They could provide us any food we wanted other than steak (we lunch on sarnies and chips so that was not a prob). Food was fine. We are looking forward to returning in the next few weeks, hopefully they make a success of it as the local pub - can be a hard going business to crack - we see so many go under near here. They are also dog friendly which is like a real pub should be.. Definitely worth a visit.

its hard to know which impressed me the most, decent prices choice of food or taste of food ... firstly the staff are lovely and we asked for a sandwich suprise and oh my gosh we recieved four half ciabattas all different flavours. one bacon one cheese salad one ham and a bacon served with a decent bowl of chips. it was presented so beautifully and tasted so nice i fully reccommend this pub for ambience and friendliness... just as an aside we were there mid day...

Worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. Couldn't eat the beef was like leather. Lovely staff and customer service though

There’s a reason why they were totally empty on a Saturday night. Literally the only thing they can cook is chips. The menu is simple and they should be able to turn out excellent examples of everything on it but when you are served a pie you can’t even stick a fork in...friendly service but the food is awful.

Under new management - fantastic food and service!

A group of us visited today for my Mum’s birthday. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The new management team are great, and know how to engage with their customers and make them feel valued. We had a range of different starters, mains and desserts and none of us found fault with anything, in fact there were a lot of empty plates! Breaded mushrooms, pate, soup, and cheesy garlic bread followed by pie of the day, cod, scampi, hunters chicken, burger, sausage all with lovely chips, mash, salad, and/or veg, and then, if you can manage it, some great desserts. All topped off with service with a smile! Would definitely recommend this as a great value for money place to eat. I hope the new managers continue as they’ve started, and wish them every success with their business - they deserve it!

Visited the Red Lion in Holt Heath for lunch on 9th January, the pub is now under new management, the menu is now comprised of good pub classics with the occasional twist, such as the Game Casserole, the food was excellent and the portion size was generous, so bring a healthy appetite, the new managment team were very welcoming and friendly so I'm looking forward to my next visit

Stopped here at lunchtime after a chilly walk. So warm and welcoming, friendly owners with whom we had a good chat. We only had soup and bread which was lovely, but the main menu looked good too. Try it

I was really hopeful that the Sunday lunch here would be something special but was rather underwhelmed. I know the new owners need time to settle in so my critique is meant with good intentions and not spiteful criticism. I would love to see them succeed. The service needs some attention, the staff were lovely and pleasant but not very quick. We were directed to our table and the girl behind the bar said she’d come over to take our drinks order. It wasn’t busy but still took her about 5 minutes. It took another 5 minutes to get a menu, then the drinks finally came. We were there for the Sunday lunch so it didn’t take long to decide what we wanted but, despite sitting there not looking at the menu anymore, it probably took 10 minutes before our order was taken. We were asked how we wanted our beef cooked, I would hope a decent chef knows how to cook beef! The food took a while to come, but we were patiently anticipating a good feed. Unfortunately, when the food finally came it wasn’t as good as I’d been hoping for. I think that they were trying a bit too hard, throwing more at it than it needs and overloading the plate. It is only my opinion but here is what I’d change: Beef has a Yorkshire pudding and pork has stuffing, it’s not necessary to put both on both. The veg would be better served in a separate dish so you can choose what and how much to have. Roast potatoes should ideally be Maris Piper not roasted new potatoes. By all means put some gravy over the meat but then serve the rest in a separate gravy boat. Nothing was particularly hot. There seemed to be a lot of people behind the bar but nobody really doing anything. The lady serving us was very sweet but seemed a bit out of her depth. We will try the food again but feel the basics need to be tightened up. It wouldn’t take too much to improve and make it a far better experience.

Called in last Sunday midday when I noticed their Sunday Roast board outside the pub. Warm and friendly. Kate ( the licensee ) made me feel very welcome - apparently she and her Chef business partner ) took the pub over 2 weeks before. This would mean that any bad reviews previous to Nov 2019 complaining about bad service don’t really count! I eat meat but have enjoyed tasting pub vegan roasts for the last year or so - I reckon it tests the chef a bit more. So... I had the Sweet potato, cashew nut and apricot chutney tart with all the trimmings. £8:95 plus £2:50 cauliflower cheese. The tart was excellent, the trimmings well cooked WITH decent helpings. Other diners seemed very happy as Kate wandered about checking on everyone. I will be back to taste other options. Apparently some game pie / stew will occasionally be offered as and when courtesy of a local gamekeeper.

Terrible pub with incredibly rude landlord who told us to leave and never show our faces again when we were served beer from the end of the barrel which wasn’t clearing and last pint was the dregs and amounted to half a pint. No wonder it’s closing down

I am sad that Victoria and family are moving so we are visiting as often as we can until they go. The Spicy Plaintain and Root Veggie curry I had bank holiday monday was superb as always. Can't wait to go back

Great place to have a drink come rain or shine

Very pleasantly surprised, me and my partner drive past here very regularly but for some reason never stopped by, we decided today with our two toddlers to stop by here for our Sunday dinner, it was outstanding! I had the pork Sunday lunch and I could not fault one thing, the pork melted In my mouth, my partner had the steak which he says was the best steak he’d ever had and we shared a Camembert starter which was gorgeous, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much to ask, they brought our children’s food out with the starter so they didn’t have to wait and even put peppa pig on the tv in the back room for us which kept them occupied and was very thoughtful of the staff and owners, I would highly highly recommend anyone to visit here if you are passing such a lovely chilled out atmosphere and gorgeous food, what more could you want. Thank you very much to the owner and thank you very much to the chef for such beautiful tasty dishes we will definitely be visiting again very soon and telling family and friends about your restraunt, thank you!

the food was very very good the service excellent the only thing that lets the place down is we were the only people dinning there but that is not the managements fault I understand the present managements lease is up in September so I urge anyone that fancys trying it to go now

Just returned from an amazing meal at the Red Lion. We ordered from the Afro Caribbean menu and were not disappointed. The goat curry was to die for. Everything is home made and fresh to order. The service was awesome, the staff could not have been any nicer and more friendly. Prices were also very reasonable too. Also they are dog friendly and have a lovely outdoor space. We will absolutely be returning.

Nice landlord/barkeep. He was very polite despite one of our party being somewhat rude to him on our arrival..

Had the prawn linguine. Absolutely beautiful. Compliments to the chef. Family run which makes it feel homely and comfortable in its environment. The staff are so accommodating and polite. Really have enjoyed our visit and food here.

6 of us ate here today and the food was exceptional. I used to live in London and ate Caribbean food regularly and this pub is up there taste wise. The food tasted fresh and home made, I’m vegetarian so they made me a veggie jungle curry with rice and it tasted really good.

absolutely hated the place the menu everything about it shame as its very close to where i live and could have been my local. if you see the reply from the manager questioning my visit please read my other reviews as i review everywhere I go and give my opinions as i find places and as honestly as i can. i have given some thought to this review and honestly wouldn't change a thing. Sorry if that upsets the management team but it is what it is.

As we were a large party and had several orders the owner offered to take the kids order first and get it cook early so they were not waiting too long, once all orders had been placed the food started to be delivered to our tables in a timely manner and it was exceptional. The food was all fresh cooked and made with real passion, I had the jerk chicken (pictured below) and a special request order of holumi fries which the chef kindly made especially for me (these should be on the menu as a starter, they are amazing). After the main course many of us ordered dessert which was also amazing. All in all the experience, quality of service and the food was really exceptional and I will absolutely be returning in the future. My compliments to the chef and the owner.

Went out last minute as a group of 9 plus 4 children. Extremely welcoming and very friendly. Service was brilliant. Very flexible with fussy eaters and made food from fresh not on the menu. Entertained the children whilst the adults ate (put a movie on for them) to which you wouldn’t get many other places. The food was lovely, very fresh and tasted amazing. Especially considering there was only 1 chef and no assistants helping. Very well priced, highly recommend a visit.

Called in on spec on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed a lovely Roast

Ok so being of caribbean decent I am partial to a bit of yard food shall we say. Now if you like places like Turtle Bay (minus the atmosphere and drink selection) then you'll be ok here! The pub is in a lovely setting and to eat caribbean food in the countryside should be a blessing however the trouble here is it is too quiet (we ate last saturday at 4pm and were the only table eating).....and unless we were just unlucky....the food (curry goat in particular) seemed to us to have been defrosted rather than cooked fresh that day. My partner has had his fair share of defrosted curry goat when we have left overs at home so knows how it tastes different to freshly cooked goat which is a shame considering the price at 12.95! The fried dumplings were nice and little boy loved them!! My auntie enjoyed the mutton burger. The portions were generous enough and overall the food was ok. It looses a star for the goat we were expecting better...you cant cook goat from scratch in less than an hour and really expect it to taste that good. It looses its second star for its drinks selection...the only brandy they do is 3 barrels (if you can even call it brandy)...the rum choice is even worse!! They do serve red stripe...but that ran out after the first round. Would I go back....probably not. However if your not bothered regarding drinks selection or defrosted goat and like a nice quiet setting give it a try.

I live in London and have been to some of the best afro Caribbean restaurants and have had lots of home cooked carribean food and this was the best I have ever had. The flavours were incredible and you could request the level of spice specific to each person. Cannot recommend enough!

Went here for a birthday meal as a group of 4. Nice pub feel and an unusual menu featuring Jamaican dishes. I had a nice jerk chicken burger and friends had a mutton burger and skewers. My wife ordered a jerk pizza. It was unbearably hot and totally inedible. Nowhere on the menu did it suggest it would be so hot it made her feel unwell. We eat a lot of spicy food, and so it's not unusual for us to order a hot curry for example, but this we so ridiculous that she could only eat the crust. The Manager brought over a glass of milk and then a jug of mango chutney to cool it down, but by that time she was so uncomfortable (and actually in pain) that she couldn't eat any more. It's fine to have a super hot dish on your menu, but you really should clearly state how hot it is on the menu.

Met at the Red Lion for a family meal as was about half way from Leicestershire and mid Wales, and the menu sounded excellent.. we weren't disappointed.. great food at a reasonable price.. thanks

We visited, as two families, 4 adults and 5 children. We were greeted by the owner, who showed us to our table and talked us through the menu. We all had something different: jerk chicken, jerk prawns, creamy mushrooms, tempura prawns, jambalaya, Caribbean burgers, cheesecake, chocolate pud. The plates were well and truly cleared! Utterly delicious! The owner is attentive and friendly, cannot fault the customer service. His daughter waited on the table and was a delight. The garden put the back was perfect for the kids to run around in as it was a sunny day! We're looking forward to returning! Thank you!!!

This place was an unexpectedly good little find. The food was fantastic, with a good range of traditional and Caribbean dishes. All plates were cleared, even my kid's, who can be a bit fussy! Another bonus was a big enclosed area put the back where the children could run around and play safely. The staff were also brilliant. We were greeted by the owner and served by his daughter - it's great to see such a good family fun business. This is just down the road from Witley Court which we often visit. We will definitely be calling in again!

Booked a table for Sunday Lunch for 4 adults, there was only one other table of diners, waited ages for our meals in a very cold dining room (Yes we all kept our coats on). When our food arrived I was amazed to see my friends "Sunday Roast" the Yorkshire puds where as flat as a pancake, and as black and hard as coal, the beef was not any better as tough as old boots, the veg was a pile of mush and the "rich gravy" looked like water and tasted the same (couldn't believe they had the nerve to serve this) . Thank god I thought as I tucked into my burger, alas it was no better, edible if very hungry, none of the food was good, over priced and we were all so disappointed, we have voted this the WORST SUNDAY LUNCH IN BRITAIN. Had give 1 star to post, but really did not warrant any stars.

The Red Lion was well worth our passing visit. We visited on 'pizza night' (2 for 1) where the homemade pizzas were top quality and offered a range of interesting and well matched toppings. But the highlight was the delicious, authentic-tasting goat curry, made to order and cooked to a requested level of heat. Friendly welcome and good service. Give it a go!

A warm welcome from the owner on a stormy wet night. He talked us through the menu which was good for meat eaters but only a handful of veggie options. The food was good and service was excellent.

I trivaled from Cardiff to the red lion for food last night with my partner we had really lovely Jamaican food it's our 3 time there and we enjoy the food so much we will be back again in future the staff and own are really friendly and anybody going there for food I would so say that they should eat there really lovely place and frandly and welcoming own see u again soon

Thank you for accommodating us on New year's Day. We were a party of 8 dining for lunch, the food was lovely. We sat in bar as we have a dog and she was welcome. We had great service and enjoyed the beer too. Thanks again, we will be back!

We have been to the Red Lion several times and we were always served very good food. You can choose between hot, medium and mild. As I am a little sensitive to hot food, I normally order curry in mild forms and have always received it, as requested. I especially like the vegetarian and the goat curry with sweet cooking banana.

Cold no atmosphere limited beers on tap

They're getting the new pizza oven going so if you are in the area and feel the need of a bite of pizza, it's the only place to go. We all enjoyed ours.

If I could give this place a minus rating I would. We gave The Red Lion a third chance against all our instincts and the locals’ advice but will never make the same mistake again. We went for ‘curry night’ having first checked the buy one get one half price offer was on and ordered from the ‘Caribbean menu’, only to be served with a bill that was double what we expected. I was surprised to find that due to ordering the jerk burger, two meals were excluded from the offer. I approached our waiter to query the bill only to be referred to the owner; I have to say this man is an abomination who shouldn’t be allowed to run a place of business or talk to any member of the public. Instead of making any attempt to smooth any of this over or acknowledge his misleading menu he instead told me that a ‘Caribean curry’ doesn’t include a jerk burger, even though it appears on the same menu as all of the curries. I suggested that our waiter might have informed us of this when we ordered (at this stage I must add that our waiter was very pleasant and good at his job-he also looked mortified through what followed). The owner proceeded to tell me that he’d had a shocking day, didn’t need this from me, I wasn’t prepared to listen to him and, wait for it... ‘I SOUND JUST LIKE HIS WIFE!!’ At this point my step-father left the pub in complete disgust, my mother soon followed after telling him he should never speak to a paying customer that way and my husband and I left shortly after in shame.

Our latest visit was just as good as usual although the menu has been scaled down. Great spicy plaintain followed by root vegetable curry and Mr had Kalaloo & Ackee followed by goat curry. Great portions and scrummy as always. Dog friendly in the bar,,see you in a fortnight

We've been before and always come back for the Caribbean menu. Starters of Callaloo and ackee for me, and jerk chicken for him, both came with a delicious spiced fritter/dumpling. Followed by Goat Curry and Fish Curry, accompanied by Jollof rice and rice and peas, and because we can't not, sides of dumplings and fried plantain. All perfectly cooked, super spicy hot curries (we did ask for medium/hot and hot...) but we aclimatised! But sadly we were too full for our regular rum cake.

We were here only because we had one a prize of a "Carribean meal for two" in a raffle. it turned out that the meal for two was just two main courses, but £20 of the bill was still very welcome.

Highly recommend this pub / restaurant for the Caribbean food. Having been to several Caribbean islands I can say the food is authentic and served in very generous portions.

Easy to park, welcoming and friendly landlord, excellent Caribbean food. Started with Callaloo & Ackee (never had it before - delicious), followed by Fish Curry - even better. Finished with really good Crumble and custard.

Excellent Groupon deal, 2 course Afro Carribean meal, spicy plantain starter, coconut chicken main, huge dumplings all delicious. Very pleasant gentleman serving bar & meals.

Very friendly atmosphere. Great customer service and lovely authentic Afro- Caribbean food. We were recommended by friends and we wer'nt disappointed.

Stopped here as we was heading up north. Bar and restaurant was empty, no staff, took 15 minutes to finally order a drink! Then a further 1 hour and 15 mins for food to arrive. Wouldn't of been so bad if it was busy but it was just me and my partner! Never had a roast dinner with watercress on before but food was ok. Shouldn't of bothered but just put it down to experience! Definitely won't return.

Wonderful experience never had Caribbean food before thoroughly enjoyed starter and main course what a fantastic change from the usual pub meals.

Family meal, a table of 8. We were booked for 7pm, starters came out at 8:15pm an hour after being ordered. Whilst we were sat waiting for our starters 2 other tables left because the service was so slow. We asked why the food was taking so long and the answer was just that they were busy (no apology) but there was a number of empty tables and the restaurant doesn't hold that many. When the food did arrive it was not as stated on the menus missing sauces and bread. They also brought them out in dribs and drabs which meant the rest of us had finished before the last person even got theirs, not acceptable given how long we had waitied. We waited a further hour for the mains and eventually decided that we had all had enough when they still hadn't arrived. As we were at the bar settling for the drinks and starters the mains finally started to come out, mine should have been a gammon with egg, it came out as gammon with pinapple, they then brought out a second time having taken the pineapple off but no egg. We came on a reccomendation but will certainly not be reconmending to anyone else. Whilst food that we did have was quite nice,it was not what the menu said it should be, it took far too long and the service was appalling.

So nice to be able to have the Caribbean food here. Spicy plaintain to start with jungle Root Veg curry for afters. Best garlic and cheese bread ever (fact). Can't wait for the next visit. 2nd birthday on the trot here. The Pink Gin was gorgeous and our French born hostess was great

We visited this restaurant several years ago for lunch when it was well known for its Fish selection. This time the trend is towards Caribbean which although tasty was something of a disappointment. My fork was filthy. It was swiftly changed, but without much apology. We were the only table occupied at lunchtime and yet service was intermittent. Sadly it was not a successful visit overall

Me and my partner ate here a few weeks ago and we will not be returning. Despite being one of about 3 tables in the large restaurant, it took around 45 minutes to get two steaks out. The manager came out after about 20 minutes and said they had run out of rump and agreed to give me a fillet for the same price, when it came out it was not a fillet. It was more like a minute steak but she assured me it was fillet and offered to 'show me the packet'..... Anyway, the steak came out missing the mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings and with the tiniest pot of sauce that they said was big enough to share. One waitress told us that they had no onion rings, shrugged and walked away, 2 minutes later the manager said they were in the oven. By the time we finished our steaks, half a mushroom each, a tomato and a huge bowl of onion rings arrived which we didn't feel like eating. The manager was a nice lady and knocked some drinks off for us but the whole restaurant operation is a shambles.

On way to Worcester for a meal, on a Wednesday evening, passed the Red Lion with it's colourful sign advertising the Caribbean food, decided to stop and treat ourselves to something "different".

Excellent caribbean food, well worth a visit, well priced.

After trying to find somwhere for a meal, we found the Red Lion and upon walking in thought it looked very pleasant. However, although there was only 2 other people waiting for food, it took over 50 minutes for our food to arrive! Lovely food when we got it but in a virtually empty restaurant, a 50 min wait was just not acceptable! No apology from any staff for the wait! Won’t be returning
