Salmon Wellington undercooked crushed potatoes gritty never again. Had a voucher 2 mains £20 asked what we could have but told specials not valid on the offer. 1 bottle of wine 2 mains £62

Stopped here on the way back from the nursery run this evening as we'd had a minor car accident on the way there and needed a beer! They were currently suffering a power cut but still supplied us with a drink anyway, I had to leave before the power came back on due to a tired little man, but promised to return to pay for our drinks and they were very accommodating. Very few places are so personable these days, thanks again. Your kindness was just what we needed. I'll be back!

First time visit and will definitely return as the menus are varied. Really good breakfast, friendly service and lovely surroundings.

Lovely pub, especially in the summer with its hanging baskets. There's a beer garden & function room. Inside was a relaxed atmosphere with nice decor. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The food was excellent. Reasonably priced

We popped in for a couple of drinks on our way home this evening. We were served by Kate. She was super friendly and helpful whilst staying professional. She definitely made us feel welcome and because of that we will be back! Next time we will stay for food.

HBH and family lunch out. Great venue, typical modern English pub atmosphere. Inside and outside dining area. Allergy App for use, explained by helpful staff. Steak was good. Recommend the Smothered chicken. For Dairy allergy folk the Vegan Bakewell Tart with coconut ice cream is highly recommended. Noisy background music we found a nuisance and prevented easy conversation within our hearing challenged party.

Superb tasty food, great value! Brilliant service, had lots of substitutions in 2 meals due to following Slimming World and nothing was too much trouble. For instance, two of us had gammon, chips, egg, peas and pineapple. I swapped my pineapple for an extra egg, the chips for 2 baked potatoes (usually reserved for the kids menu!). My mum swapped her peas for a side salad and had the extra egg instead of pineapple. Our order was taken quickly and efficiently with no fuss or umming and ahhing, they were very accommodating and the food was fabulous! The gammon and the eggs were cooked to perfection and so tasty. Baked potatoes wonderful. My dad had the smothered chicken and the salted caramel sundae, he assures me both were amazing (they certainly looked and smelled it!!) Will definitely go again!

My.partner.and I went for a meal on Tuesday ..... never had such awful.food. Smothered chicken ordered, chips bland as if been cooked then dipped in water, the onion rings were the same. Mayonnaise looked and tasted.like egg whites with no taste at all. The chicken was tough. I won't eat there again well I didn't eat it this time. Not very good and would not recommend.

Went in today for lunch at 1pm. Had our order taken for drinks starters and mains. Walked out after 45 minutes as not even our drinks had arrived. Only one of us who managed to eat was our 7 month old baby. Used stop in regularly but won't be going back

After visiting The fox many times over the years we had an encounter with a rude manager a few years ago so never went back. Decided to give it another try as we’ve always liked The fox but now I wish we hadn’t bothered. We arrived to a very quiet lunchtime on a Monday and was seated with our drinks order taken very quickly and we also ordered the food at the same time, We waited and waited and almost felt like staff had avoided us for quite a while. After well over 40 minutes of waiting we decided we’d had enough and went to pay for our drinks. We told the waitress we couldn’t wait any longer only to be told ‘oh they’re now plating your food, we’ve been busy! ‘ We won’t be returning again not matter how good the food might have been if we actually got it.

Our first visit to The Fox and it was an excellent experience. We were looked after by Ellie, who was absolutely fantastic. She was pleasant, extremely polite, and nothing was too much trouble. Our meals were all very high quality and served piping hot. The portions were a good size, and even the extras were reasonably priced. We will definitely be visiting The Fox in the very near future, and we will be recommending it to all our friends and family.

Really quiet practically nobody in there

My wife and I and our little dog honey have been coming to the Fox Inn for over 7 years and not once have we had a bad meal or bad experience. To read some of these negative comments is baffling and really unfair criticism of a great place to dine with friends and family. The staff are excellent, friendly, warm welcoming and can never do enough for you and they always have a smile on their face whilst doing it which is great to witness as a guest. Kristy and her team are excellent hosts and they deliver in high standards every single time. So keep up the great work and can't wait to see you all again next Sunday for lunch as this time we are seeing fiends who are moving to Dubai, so we told them that they must come and sample the lovely cheesy garlic bread that you do before they depart for the middle east! That Sunday lunch we had yesterday for Father's day was superb, we all thoroughly enjoyed it and my farther in law did especially, so trust me, that's praise in itself! Thanks again Kristy...from Rich, Jen and honey (the dog) Oh, and this is honey's favourite place ever to visit.. every time we get near to the restaurant she gets really excited and I mean really excited, as she knows she's in for plenty off fuss and some of her very own sausage and chicken :) So again high praise from honey as she's a very fussy chihuahua as you know! ;)

The menu looked pretty good if you were a meat eater but lacked lighter weight main courses that you would expect at this time of year. Add to that at least a third of the menu was "off" due to a delivery issue. Although staff were really good and very apologetic, it's a pretty poor show from a major chain. Worst of all, the food which we did have was less than perfect, and did not live up to expectations.

Had a lovely meal last night at very reasonable prices.....excluding the drinks which seemed a bit expensive.

Was here for a friends wedding. Staff and venue was amazing. Lovely and friendly. The buffet was brilliant. The bar staff who served us were so helpful and attentive and even joined in for a dance after the main guests had left. Could not fault the venue at all. Everyone had a brilliant night

This place needs a good cleaning for start. As for the food, the good old roast dinner arrived pretty cold, the stuffing was very dry, the veg were cold and tasteless. The meat was taff. Roast potatoes were indescribable. And as for a veg pie with mushroom to be poured with beef gravy.....hmm. Service was very good. Will avoid this chain.

Had a lovely meal. The food was tasty and good value for money. One slight criticism is the vegetables could have been a lot hotter. Otherwise a good meal.

Myself and some friends had arrange to have a lovely evening out catching up over some food. Unfortunately we had to wait an hour for our food after 3 times of asking for an update. The communication was poor, no apologise for the delay on the food arriving hours after ordering. The plates and food were both cold. I was told my chips could be heated up, when they were already soggy. None of the food appeared to look fresh.

We had the pleasure of having an evening meal here this evening. The staff were brilliant, friendly and very professional. Had a chuckle with the lady behind the bar! We would like to say a special thank you to our waitress who was chatty and generally a very lovely young lady! Clean, tidy bar and restaurant. And loved the decor. Food was tasty and great to have a proper Steak and Ale Pie. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Day after a Bank Holiday and it was still busy!! Highly recommend. 👍👍👍

Only stopped by for a drink. They had honey bee gin which was fabulous also a great selection of gins too. Food menu did look very tempting Clean toilets and lovely staff. Ample parking too

Having moved to the area recently, we consider ourselves lucky to have found this pub. The staff are super friendly and alwsys efficient even when very busy. It's definitely dog friendly, and even the staff make friends with your dog, even the noisy ones ! It's a great place and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a vist.

Party of 6, booked for 18:30 on 19th May 2024. Only 1 real ale offered. No 'house' Pinot Grigio, was offered an alternative Pinot at £25 a bottle, what a rip off! Serving staff were friendly and not under pressure as there were no more than a dozen customers at the time. Meals when they arrived were stone cold, and extra gravy was delivered straight from the fridge. All in all, disgusting. We refused the meals, left the premises, and found elsewhere to eat. This used to be our 'go to' place for family and friend get togethers. Never again!

We live 3 minute down the road and in the 6 times we have been here there has never been a time where there has been food or drinks available at the same time. It’s quite incredible… “Theres been a gas leak” “The chefs wife has gone into labour” “The drinks delivery has got lost” Always under staffed, it’s the only way they remain in business

Great location, nice atmosphere. Food was nothing more than a standard pub meal. No salt, sauces, given. Food presentation was poor. No serviettes! Not the experience I expected.

Asked for a medium well steak and twice they got it wrong

First impressions were not the best, but the food and servers were lovely. The disappointment was the long wait time for food. Odd how once we said we were going to leave the food magically was coming out of the kitchen. This led us to believe that the food had been sat there for a good time before being served. If I go again, I will update the review.

The food was absolutely beautiful (I can recommend the squid starter), the main course was also beautiful. My only negative comment was that the portion sizes left me unable to order a dessert 😁 11/10

We held my husband’s 50th birthday in the barn. It was such a good night made even better by the friendly staff behind the bar (Kate & Lily). All the arrangements went smoothly, we were able to come in at any point in the day to decorate the barn, food was delivered as requested and on time. It felt safe to leave the barn and return later. Both the girls were accommodating and kept the wine flowing! All in all a wonderful evening and would highly recommend them for your next event.

Looks lovely inside but.... We ordered Sunday roast but were disappointed with the food. The meat was tasteless and watery and the roast potatoes seemed as though they had been deep fried. Yorkshire pudding soggy. We ate it and felt full but will not be rushing back for such bland and seemingly microwaved fare. On another note, there was loud music, shouting, banging and swearing coming from the kitchen which did nothing to add to the atmosphere. I know it is a working kitchen, but there is no soundproofing!

Had a fantastic mixed grill with some of the finest gammon I’ve ever had; highly recommended. The staff are lovely, upbeat, friendly and interesting. I cannot recommend it enough. I’ll be back.

The place showed great promise.... And then the food came out. Very appetising descriptions but failed to meet in a big way. The fake-steak grill was horrible and the charred cabbage on the pork belly "interesting"... The new menu needs considerable work. However the staff managed it very well but probably a "no" for going again.

Positioning itself as a mid-range family restaurant, The Fox achieves its objectives extremely well. I have watched the evolution of this place over the last half century - from being a simple Davenports boozer to where it is now - and it has been through many peaks and troughs. Right now they seem to be getting it spot on. The food was excellent - the squid starter could easily pass in a far more expensive restaurant and the sausage and mash main was Gastro Pub food at its best. I was looked after superbly well by Lily and Kate. The place has a decent ambience and the music was unintrusive. I was on my own at lunchtime for this one, but intend to return with my wife and maybe more of the extended family soon. Who ever is Landlord now, long may they remain, because this place is always dependant on those in charge. Thanks to all at The Fox for a splendid lunch! I strongly recommend it.

Had to wait almost an hour for our food, despite going early for lunch so it wasn't busy - with two kids that's really pushing it. And they even bought out the adult meals first! There were literally tears shed. The food was meh. Don't bother with the veggie grill - it's uninspired and overpriced. Oh, and the lady who greeted us was so miserable it was almost funny. I don't think we'll be back, which is a shame as we're just down the road.

The place was lovely as were the staff but the food was not up to the price tag and was cold. The mixed grill was a cold, very thin, dry steak that would have been impossible to cook to ‘medium’ as requested as it was that thin. Gammon was cold and the chicken. Very poor

First time for a roast dinner here and it was exceptional. Hot plates and hot tasty food. Lovely atmosphere In the restaurant and the service is always friendly and efficient

Great place food great and 4 legged friends allowed in

Been here a few times over the last six months and it seems to have got progressively worse. This first time was OK from memory, the second not so good (wrong order, poor steak) and the third just plain disappointing. The place is nice, tastefully decorated and clean but the main attraction, the food, is distinctly average. On the most recent visit, an item in the description was missing from the dish. I mentioned it, expecting it to be brought out only to be told it wasn’t available. Obviously it was hoped we wouldn’t notice it was missing! Pleasant enough staff but no offer of anything to sweeten the deal, either for that or for our later remarks that everything was a bit overcooked and dry. ‘I’ll tell the chef’ was all we got - yeah right! Not the worst place in the world but far from the best. Can’t really recommend.

Been a few times before but yesterday Sunday roast was very disappointed was all over cooked and half it just frozen veg and potatoes tasteless. I had to send my wine back once because tasted very odd and 2nd one come didn't taste much better taste like been mixed with water and soapy. Shame as restaurant and staff are lovely. Get if busy but no restaurants should be serving frozen veg and potatoes. So easy and simple. Ppl come to a restaurant for a night off and £50 I could cook nicer and cheaper at home.

Me and my family came for some food earlier today and we really enjoyed our experience. We were served by Liv and she was lovely and polite and extremely helpful with the menu as my brother is coeliac so has specific dietary requirements which she took in to account and helped us choose something suitable for him. She was always smiling and making sure our experience was the best it could be the food was lovely and we will definitely be coming back again soon due to the welcoming staff and amazing food

We went for dinner on a Saturday night. The food and service were excellent. The manager Kate, personally went and freshly whipped some cream for my dessert! Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return.

I visited the fox yesterday for a dinner with my partner. I was greeted at the door by the lovely Kristy and Charley who swiftly took us to our table. My server was Lily who was extremely helpful and cheery, she let us know what she recommended on the menu. Kate made our drinks very quickly and delivered them over to us with a smile. The food was absolutely gorgeous, the chefs know what they’re doing. All in all it was an amazing experience, in such a welcoming atmosphere. Will 100% be returning.

Can’t recommend enough. My server was Lily and she was so friendly and a great help recommending the best dishes- not to mention the food was delicious. The host Kate was extremely welcoming and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, I could not fault. 10/10 would cannot wait to visit again !

We went for the Burns Night Supper; we had an excellent meal and the service by Charlie was most attentive. All in all a very pleasant experience and we will definitely go again

Amazing cozy local country pub, great service, great food, and dog friendly which is great 🤩 even free dog treats and blankets which is lovely. The staff are great particularly the general manager Kristy who is very welcoming and always accommodating to get us a last minute table even on busy nights 😊 and the waitresses both Lily and Liv are always friendly and helpful and always welcoming. The food is great, particularly the Sunday roast dinners, loads of fresh vegetables gravy and the meat is always lovely. Theres a great selection of wines and local ales to enjoy with dinner too 😊 highly recommended 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another lovely visit, with friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The only (and very small criticism) was the amount of gravy! Easily rectified though as our server brought a large gravy boat to the table when we asked

My lunch was amazing. It was a Middle Eastern flat bread with all the veg extras. It's really tasty, really good value and a step above pub food.

Went to the Bransford Inn with my family and had a wonderful time! Atmosphere was very friendly and the staff were all super kind and helpful, especially our waitress Amelie who was absolutely brilliant and made us feel very welcome :)

Had some dinner with my friends, I irdered a steak. It was cooked to perfection and me and my friends absolutely enjoyed it. Was served by a very friendly waitress called lily would definitely come again

Visited the Fox Inn with my friends for lunch in the new year and it was lovely. Quick and friendly service - we were served by Amelie. I ordered the hand battered atlantic cod and it was perfect. Would recommend

The food was very nice. It was very well decorated, for Christmas. It was more of a restaurant than a pub. It was very enjoyable. The salt and pepper squid were delicious, and the Korean chicken pieces were just right as a small snack. The chocolate brownie was also a meal in itself but was nice to share.

Christmas Day lunch at the fox was terrible the worst I’ve had. The roast potatoes were not roasted and I think were frozen ones. 3 small ones on my plate and one was so black I took it off. The meal was small and an hour later feel hungry. The stuffing tasted strange, like it had gone off. The sausage was ok, but when do you have a thick sausage on Xmas day, unbelievable. I’m sorry but the meal for £78 was a joke. Service was very slow.

Ordered the cod wrapped in prosciutto. It was so overcooked I had to return it. Server apologised and said it had been removed from the bill. When the bill came it was still on there. We will not return. Very disappointed

Disappointing… There’s not much choice in the local area for food on a Sunday so we picked the fox. I choose the veggie wellington. The roast potatoes genuinely tasted like they had been reheated from Saturday last week. The green veg was over cooked. The cauliflower cheese was under cooked, watery yet still burnt. Quite impressive. The Wellington had a good pastry, but the filling was very gloopy and sweet. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, the beer was ok and it’s doggy friendly. Stick to something safe like a steak in the future.

Fantastic evening with friends. Food came quickly and was well presented. Chicken was slightly tough but not enough to have said anything. Service was top notch.
