We went for lunch on Saturday, the food and service were excellent. It was quite busy and a little noisy from the next table. The views are magnificent and on a hot day its lovely to eat outside and enjoy the view. Also dog friendly.

A great experience after a long walk. The food was delicious (the chips especially, how did they do that? Best ive ever had). We had a full three courses, and while i will say its a bit on the pricey end, in my opinion you get every penny you pay for. Staff were very helpful and friendly, lovely cosy atmosphere with a good view of the moors. 10/10, 5 stars, would absolutely come again.

The worst food we've had in a long time. Frozen birds eye burger and chips Roast beef with 3 day boiled veg Acceptable for a Weatherspoons, but not at a farm shop/country pub!! And certainly not for those prices.

I have been visiting the Rams head a couple of times a year for lunch. On my last visit there was a new member of staff on the bar. This was a complete game changer. Previously the food was good and the atmosphere nice, but the surly bar keeper really took the edge of things. Now it's the complete package: friendly staff, good food, nice atmosphere. Well done on finding such a good replacement barkeeper.

Rustic country pub with surprisingly high quality food offering. Clearly have a great chef and it shows in the menu and the food. Service was warm and friendly and the real fire was a nice touch during these winter months. Recommended Only points of feedback, my medium to well done steak for over cooked but still enjoyable. Not a fan of plastic menus and the condiments on the table and their branding was more akin to a cafe than a restaurant.

This is no reflection on the food or restaurant in itself, I am sure it’s very nice and it looks amazing from the pictures hence why we were eager to get in after a lovely walk around the reservoir and Pennine bridle way. It was not a rainy day and granted a little bit of mud on our boots and dog which we cleaned as much as we could! We noticed the sign which said “no wet or damp or muddy dogs allowed” and “muddy boots should be removed”. (Forgot to take a picture of the sign). So yes we were turned away, this is such a shame because it is a prefect location to have refreshments after a long tiring walk. And we don’t understand this policy. I haven’t encountered this strict policy on any walks I have been before. This area is a walkers paradise but with a disappointing end! We didn’t have spare shoes. And even the “damp” dog mention is a bit excessive as if you even cleaned your dog thoroughly and then towel dried his paws you would still be turned away I think! This is for all the dog lovers and dog walkers who can read this and be prepared. I am not sure how you get your dog paws fully dry after coming from the side path which is probably the muddiest bit of the walk just at the end, do you have to carry a hairdryer with you if you want your dog in, or leave him in the car (which for me is always a reluctant decision). We want to be back….. more prepared! And be able and I give loads of stars!

Staff were very attentive, asking about allergies and were always available to order more. The setting of the pub is stunning, with great views from atop the hill it sits on. Within the inn are also images and artefacts denoting the history of the property. We also had a brief visit to the attached farm shop. The had a varied selection too; it all looked fresh. Beautiful food and lovely staff the man in charge was a miserable, bossy little man who didnt want to have a conversation. He needs to get some management skills. The staff were very nice and helpful and lovely to talk to unlike there miserable boss. Reading a post that was put on a few months ago his response to one of his paying customers about there smelly dog was disgraceful. I wouldnt go there again if they were offering free steaks or free mash. Yes its the people who were in on fathers day asking if we could have mashed potatoes on our sunday roast and was told no but could buy some for an extra £4.50. 🤣🤣🤣 could buy a sack for that. And then the rude little bossy man came over and confronted us and said 'hey im not tight you know ' you need to take a lesson on how to speak to people. You recomendations are all on the chef skills not yours. Even the owner need some social skills to put a reply like he has on. What an idiot !!!

We both had fish and it was hearty and fresh. Good attention to detail and way beyond the effort you would go to for an average home cooked meal. Shared an ice cream desert and it was well presented and quality food. Had deep fried whitebait starter, sea bass and fisherman's wife's pie. Would definitely return so keep up the standard!

He told me if they where not friendly he would not give me water. I told him by law you can not refuses to give tap water. He then started to tell me he could He then gave me my money back for the food I had ordered This goes to show I was right very unfriendly 37 countries 17 years on the road nothing like this before Your reply is not how it was I asked you if the people in the village was friendly .you said everyone was I said that's questionable You then said you dont have to giving me water I told you it was against the law and it was you who went on a rant and aggressive to me

The Ram's Head never disappoints. Been a while since we came but just had another lovely meal. I feel this is still a much undiscovered gem. Only £6 or £7 in a taxi from Uppermill, Shaw, Milnrow and you're in the middle of the hills, great scenary, lovely food and great service. No excuse not to pay a visit. This is pub food done right and well. A menu which has enough choice to suit all but isn't massive to suggest there's no love or care in the cooking. Tanya greeted us and was our server but more of a host. I genuinely cannot say enough good things. Tanya was friendly and welcoming and exactly right for the place. Knowing her stuff, knowing the menu and having the confidence and ease. We felt relaxed and unpressured to enjoy a nice 3 courses (4 if you include the nibbles we had first). The farm shop attached to the pub / restaurant is also excellent. Our friend (by now) let me wander the shop and add a few goodies to our restaurant bill in between mains and dessert. Thanks for a lovely meal and drinks. There's a massive car park, outdoor picnic tables with lovely views of the fields and random. Horses pottering nearby. Just as good in the roaring wind as it is in full sun! Unlike us, please remember to take cash or ask to add on a tip before getting the card machine as they don't automatically add service (which is a nice novelty these days) and there's no option on the machine. Sorry Tanya, I'll tip twice next time.

I had the best prawn salad in 5 yearsfollowed by swordfish filet in bitter with mini road potatoes. The raspberry dish served for afters was delicious. And it's only about 8 miles from home? What really struck me was the young waitress who, without prompting told us what the soup was and gave info about the menu. Her memory was impressive. Will be going again.
