Popped in here for a quick bite to eat and a pint whilst on our travels through Yorkshire. Even tho it was raining it was situated in a lovely area with great views. Me and my Lady had a ciabatta with our choice of fillings which were really tasty. Staff were very friendly, attentive and professional. If in the area would highly recommend.

Had a lovely meal, deviled lambs kidney of the specials to start, kidney was succulent and the sauce was lovely. Had a T-bone steak for mains, cooked lovely, the meat was very tasty - the beef dripping chips were fantastic. My wife had rack of lamb and that was superb. Service was good throughout.

The food here was great, it came out relatively quickly and was very hot. There was a great selection and something for each member of our party. Staff were very attentive, asking about allergies and were always available to order more. The setting of the pub is stunning, with great views from atop the hill it sits on. Within the inn are also images and artefacts denoting the history of the property. We also had a brief visit to the attached farm shop. The had a varied selection too; it all looked fresh. We purchased a plate steak pie, it was amazing!

Beautiful food and lovely staff the man in charge was a miserable, bossy little man who didnt want to have a conversation. He needs to get some management skills. The staff were very nice and helpful and lovely to talk to unlike there miserable boss. Reading a post that was put on a few months ago his response to one of his paying customers about there smelly dog was disgraceful. I wouldnt go there again if they were offering free steaks or free mash. Yes its the people who were in on fathers day asking if we could have mashed potatoes on our sunday roast and was told no but could buy some for an extra £4.50. 🤣🤣🤣 could buy a sack for that. And then the rude little bossy man came over and confronted us and said 'hey im not tight you know ' you need to take a lesson on how to speak to people. You recomendations are all on the chef skills not yours. Even the owner need some social skills to put a reply like he has on. What an idiot !!!

Went on a cold winters day and it was very inviting to see the wood fires and the fantastic views. The waiter was experienced and attentive without being intrusive which is always refreshing. We both had fish and it was hearty and fresh. Good attention to detail and way beyond the effort you would go to for an average home cooked meal. Shared an ice cream desert and it was well presented and quality food. Had deep fried whitebait starter, sea bass and fisherman's wife's pie. Would definitely return so keep up the standard!

He told me if they where not friendly he would not give me water. I told him by law you can not refuses to give tap water. He then started to tell me he could He then gave me my money back for the food I had ordered This goes to show I was right very unfriendly 37 countries 17 years on the road nothing like this before Your reply is not how it was I asked you if the people in the village was friendly .you said everyone was I said that's questionable You then said you dont have to giving me water I told you it was against the law and it was you who went on a rant and aggressive to me

The Ram's Head never disappoints. Been a while since we came but just had another lovely meal. I feel this is still a much undiscovered gem. Only £6 or £7 in a taxi from Uppermill, Shaw, Milnrow and you're in the middle of the hills, great scenary, lovely food and great service. No excuse not to pay a visit. This is pub food done right and well. A menu which has enough choice to suit all but isn't massive to suggest there's no love or care in the cooking. Tanya greeted us and was our server but more of a host. I genuinely cannot say enough good things. Tanya was friendly and welcoming and exactly right for the place. Knowing her stuff, knowing the menu and having the confidence and ease. We felt relaxed and unpressured to enjoy a nice 3 courses (4 if you include the nibbles we had first). The farm shop attached to the pub / restaurant is also excellent. Our friend (by now) let me wander the shop and add a few goodies to our restaurant bill in between mains and dessert. Thanks for a lovely meal and drinks. There's a massive car park, outdoor picnic tables with lovely views of the fields and random. Horses pottering nearby. Just as good in the roaring wind as it is in full sun! Unlike us, please remember to take cash or ask to add on a tip before getting the card machine as they don't automatically add service (which is a nice novelty these days) and there's no option on the machine. Sorry Tanya, I'll tip twice next time.

Busy pub with a good menu. Prices medium for their menu. Went again today. Fabulous food service and a large and unusual menu. I had the best prawn salad in 5 yearsfollowed by swordfish filet in bitter with mini road potatoes. The raspberry dish served for afters was delicious. And it's only about 8 miles from home? What really struck me was the young waitress who, without prompting told us what the soup was and gave info about the menu. Her memory was impressive. Will be going again.

Great place with lovely views over Saddleworth moor. Tables a bit close together for private conversations but I can understand why it's an old building with small rooms. Food was good, really nice asparagus starter. Might be nice to have one room where tables with small children are booked as much as possible. We don't have small children and they can be a little bit noisy in such a compact area, just a suggestion, not intended as a criticism. Lovely, friendly staff and good efficient service.

The food, drinks and service are first tier. Staff is capable and ready for customers needs. Owner is young but he knows how to continue family tradition in suitable way. There is a farm shop with fresh and natural food. Astonishing view around outside brightens spending time sitting at the table outdoor. There is also big car park, so no problem with the car. Came in on a Sunday afternoon after a hike nearby. Deli and wine shop is delightful and worth having a look around, but think we'd skip the restaurant next time. Staff were quite lack luster but friendly enough. The food was very overpriced - we asked if they had lunch options (thinking sandwiches, light bites) but they only served a full menu with mains starting around £15. So, we opted to try some starters instead. Chicken dumplings were £8 odd for two small balls and the sausage bites was just a sausage taken from the deli sliced up and served for £4. Not particularly impressed overall but it's a stellar place to have a pint and reward yourself after a hike well done, lovely views to be had!

Stumbled across this on the way somewhere with a friend, went in for a sunday lunch. Absolutely loved it, despite being busy, the staff were on point. Thought it would be a wonderful place to take my partner for my birthday. Book for a Wednesday as I saw it was busy as a bee hive last time. Besides being seated by the same lovely server as last time, it was night and day from my last visit. Negatives: - There was only us and 3 ladies in the entire restaurant. - No pigeon available. - Food took a long time. - Fries were overdone and tiny. - The blue cheese sauce tasted of a cheap out of the packet cheddar sauce. - My steak was pretty much unseasoned. - My steak was more medium than rare when I had asked for rare. A little bit of a let down birthday meal, maybe I set the expectations too high. Positives: -We were sat in a different section from last time that feels even warmer and more inviting. -The steak was some of the highest quality meat I've ever eaten in a restaurant! - The server was there exactly when we needed him. BUT! I will be returning to give it a go on a busier night, at which point i will be changing or adding to my review. I really hope that night was a one off.
