Been here numerous times for a meal with family. Always great and friendly service, food & prices.

J W Lees pub of the year 2022 says it all. Great atmosphere Great service Good food beer garden Sports on tv. What more can you ask for

Food was top notch. Staff were lovely. Manageress was honest and spotted that the deposit we paid hadn't been deducted too. So good experience all around. 10/10 would go again.

Been quite a few times, never had a bad meal. Reasonable prices. They have a separate dining area where dogs are allowed.

Amaizing. Coming for 2nd time and no regrets choosing it. Thank you, wonderful staff. The food was unforgettable 🤩

Great place to catch up with friends. I can highly recommend the chicken hanging kebab.

Popped in with friends for a quick bite to eat along with a few drinks. Lovely pub restaurant which caters for all whether you are wanting to dine in the restaurant section, have a catch up in the bar food area which is where we sat or party done pool and watch some sport on the various tv's the choice is yours.

Been coming here for a couple of years, mainly to eat. Never had a bad meal, all top quality and great staff.

Super friendly service, varied menu including 2 salad choices and great Sizzlers. Also Sunday roasts( just on Sundays of course). Very reasonably priced. Steak sizzler just £20.

Had lasagne and it was the worst I’ve ever had. Nearly half of it was a thick layer of the chewiest cheese ever.

We booked a small funeral reception, which was held in a side room, an ideal setting, private but also open enough to the rest of the pub so that we didn't feel isolated. Vikki and her team looked after us admirably and the food was excellent, with more than enough even for the largest appetite. Our vegan daughter was well catered for, too, which was a relief, and she chose from the main menu. We will definitely return to eat here.

Good food and rowdy atmosphere, (well to be expected as England were playing).

Great Sunday lunch, served on hots plates. Good value for money.

Service and food good. Ample parking at the back and even has 3 disabled spots at the front.

Horrible food and when I told them I was met with the absolute stinking attitude from the landlady (Karen). Karen claimed that my steak was cooked correctly ( it definitely wasn’t) and claimed that she’s worked in the food industry for years ( chill out Karen it’s a Lees pub that you run for the brewery it’s hardly San Carlos ) anyway if you enjoy good food I’d avoid this place.

Very well looked after by a friendly team. Wonderful food, delivered before we had a chance to order our second drink, so asked the girl that brought our food if she could bring more drinks, not a problem. We weren't even in the restaurant. Well run and well organized. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Went here for a meal on Tuesday afternoon. My wife had the soup of the day (broccoli and stilton) which she said was delicious, then sirloin steak main course which she also enjoyed. I just had the homemade meat and potato pie with chips pickled red cabbage mushy peas and gravy. All was great except the gravy, it never arrived. I waited a few minutes after my plate ariived devoid of any slippage juice, expecting the gravy boat to follow unfortunately that ship never sailed. I have to be honest, it ruined my day. I don't think I shall sleep tonight wondering what might have been. I'm not sure if I can ever go back there, I couldn't go through the trauma if it was to happen again.

Best pub in Royton. Serve the best pint of Guinness. Usual selection of beers and spirits (Lees pub) plenty of TV screens show lots of sport. Large beer garden. Excellent food and brilliant staff, all very friendly. Can get very busy on match days but you can book a table

This place is brill for somewhere to have a drink and eat, the food was really nice and the table service was bang on. Will definitely be coming back

Really disappointed with roast dinners, poor quality slices of beef, I only got one slice on my plate it’s not cut from a joint in house. The roast potatoes were reheated in a microwave and very bland gravy, Yorkshire pudding tasted a bit stale. Hugely disappointing. Won’t be returning

Wednesday night quiz is a great night out. Starts at 9pm, with a free supper thrown in. There's a chance to have a go at 'Play your cards right' (see photo) if you're picked out in the raffle and there's bingo to play too. Pub has many screens for sky/TNT sports...

6 of us visited on 24th April. We all enjoyed our food and it was busy with lunch time dining. We would definitely go again. Thank-you for a delicious chicken curry.

Unfortunately food wasn’t great, had a starter garlic bread was greasy as hell, we even had to use tissue to dry it up, our main came out and the food presentation was poor ordered steak and it look d dreadful, it was cremated there’s well done and there cremated, it came with hard peas and about 7 chips which could of done with 2 more minutes in the fryer, very small mushroom pointless tbh. Overall won’t be visiting again.

Had roast beef dinner. The beef was really chewy. The desert was delicious. But everything else was great.

Called in to the Halfway House for dinner on a Thursday evening we hadn't booked, staff found us a table, staff very welcoming, food was great, with plenty of choice on the menu, I ordered the peri peri chicken hanging kebab, my wife had the chicken sizzler with sweet chilli sause, both meals were very nice well presented, highly recommended.

Always have a meal when we call in, great menu choice. Food is fresh and great quality. Plenty of seating but when sport is on its very busy and loud so best to book so you get a table in the restaurant half. Nice big beer garden and plenty of parking.

Had food which was really nice and a pint of JW Lees MPA which was in great condition. Nice pub with a large car park and friendly staff. I'll visit again and would recommend.

EVery time We've been in it's a brilliant night with good entertainment ! I should of asked for a plate with the chicken kebab. It would of been easier to eat. It was lovely

We went last night and ate from the Christmas menu. Wow...it was amazing. I had three courses, dont know how i ate it all. I had garlic mushrooms (beautiful), turkey dinner with ALL the trimmings(really i could have fed three) and sticky toffee pudding( gorgeous). We were a group of eleven and people varied from 2 to 3 courses. Everyone commented on their individual dish choice and they everyone agreed the food was amazing. The service was excellent too and not rushed in the slightest. Well done Halfway House and Merry Christmas.

Could ask for better. Everything was great. If there is one criticism, its portion sizes are too big. Perhaps two sizes with two prices. I hate to see food wasted.

Great northern pub grub place. Big on quantity: have a starter at your peril! Bustling and welcoming. Service was great.

Lack of customer service . We waited for a while for someone to come to take our drinks order, we had to flag a member of staff to come and take it. 50 -60 minutes waiting for food(mains only), with booking and deposit paid in advance,( pre-orde sent in advance also to make service smoothly as being a 10 guests party). Waitress came after 40 minutes waiting to apologise for delay and to let us know will get a comp on bill at end. One of mains (mixed grill) came without the steak on plate, have been brought at table 5 minutes later followed after another 5 minutes by onion rings which were missing too, and the tomato never showed up to complete the dish. Chicken and pancetra linguine served without chicken in( realised half way through dish is missing and at this point didn't fancy to wait another 40-50minutes for a fresh one so didn't point out to staff was nice but..) after finishing eating took ages until someone finally came to clear the table and check the deserts pre-order and coffees( deserts came in relatively good time but took long time for someone to come and clear the empty plates after. We asked and got the bill with no comp on, talked to waitress which originally told us about comp and she passed the bill to manager which was next to her. Hashtag awkward being next to her, she didn't even acknowledged us or try to speak with us. I get is a 10% service charge added to large parties and we happily pay anywhere we go but this time we paid 10% service charge for lack of service.

Lovely chilled pub Lunch here, black pudding stack was delicious,as was the crème brulé. Staff provided excellent service and the food was really tasty. Decent size car park attached.

We went for a pre birthday meal here our second visit. Staff are really nice, polite and helpful. The meal was delicious. We had pate for starters which was really nice I had the suet meat pudding, hubby had steak and ale pie, lovely food and nice staff and atmosphere. Recommended

Loudest and irritating landlord quizmaster

Went for food on the way to Tandle Hill and had the dog and 5 year old with us. The food was amazing and really reasonably priced. The atmosphere was really relaxed and casual with a mixed clientele, all enjoying food and drinks in the sun with family and friends. I love this pub.

Great atmosphere both inside and out in the spacious beer garden. Food was good and pricing wasn't too bad either. Highly recommend both as a local and for a family meal or group get together

Well arranged outdoor seating with well kept shrubbery. Ample parking for the size of the establishment. Large standing bar with plenty of room and no waiting to be served. Food was great, burger was packed with meat, cooked well with fresh salad. Waited 45 mins for food although we went at peak time without booking, the place was packed out and we were advised of the wait upon ordering. More than happy, will definitely return.

We went in later on a Sunday and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent. Good to see it back firing again. The new look is brilliant too!

Will never eat here again. It takes over an hour of waiting to receive a dried up lasagne. When asked if we enjoyed our food we said we had waited over an hour. The member of staff challenged us - no apology to be seen!! Will keep my money in my pocket next time!!

We visited today and go to the halfway house quite frequently. The female manager was so defensive and rude to us all and was shouting infront of customers in the restaurant and at us when we had a baby with us aswell. Never been spoken to like that ever! We complained about the food as it was awful one bite had been taken out of the food and she and her member of staff behind the bar who was also absolutely defensive rude and aggressive was saying they had a bite of it and it tasted ok! Not everyone has the same taste buds! She also said that we had a starter which we had no issues with we may of been full this wouldnt have no impact on the way it tasted. She also said to a family member that she was a frequent complainer even thought she had never complained before she had been in a party were her grandmother complained never the less this shouldnt even have been brought up, will never come here again absolutely shocking service. Lunatic management. The other reviews which are the same speak for themselves. Ps i certainly wouldnt shout at a group of 5 people when you have a resteraunt full of people. TERRIBLE

Me and my family visited the halfway house for lunch and are frequent guests here however today there was 2 meals that wasn’t enjoyed having frequently had this meal it wasn’t up to scratch and didn’t taste very nice I simply informed the manageress Vikki who then argued with me and other members of the family saying that they them self had tasted it and it was fine, then came back to the table with our bill which we didn’t ask for as we may of wanted a dessert had we not got treated this way she said she would knock £15 off our bill and then suggested we didn’t come back if we don’t like the food as family member 6 month maybe ago sent a meal back and I was then set about by 2 members of staff a waitress and the manageress shouting at me and my family across the restaurant over a meal I had not myself complained about she was extremely aggressive and rude . My niece 2 years old had to be taken away from the volatile situation whilst my 16 year old daughter who suffers with extreme anxiety due to her autism was told to shut her mouth for insisting that the manager didn’t speak to her mum in that way. It’s was absolutely appalling very bad management and customer service skills and a bad example to the rest of the staff who she was allowing to speak to us in the same manner. It is such a shame having come to this local pub restaurant for a long time and introduced other family members and friends to it.

well we visited the halfway house today and what words can I use other than diabolical… the manageress how she ever got that title I will never know.. needs some serious customer service training her attitude and behaviour presented was just disgusting to be screaming at a table of 6 including my 2 year old daughter who didnt need to witness that at all! for us basically stating that two of the main meals just wasn’t as nice as usual we was faced with verbal abuse and basically told there was nothing wrong with the food… I’m sorry but if you ask a question and don’t like the answer you shouldn’t be in that job role, as a manager of a restaurant you should understand that you’re going to be faced with complaints and if you can’t handle them like a grown up then you shouldn’t be in this job, her response was disgusting and completely shocking! She then came over slammed the bill on the table which we hadn’t even asked for… as I was going to order my daughter a ice cream this was basically her way of telling us to get out before she actually used the words we wasn’t welcome again, I am in utter shock at this woman’s behaviour and she surely shouldn’t be in that line of work, because truthfully she needs help if she is going to react to people like that! I’m gobsmacked with the service received today!

Was a good pub many years ago but gone downhill Landlord an arrogant man who really has a terrible attitude for an older man . Food average but the staff great hence one star but as long as this egotistical fool is the landlord I’ll be staying away

Just had the prawns and spicy sausage, sirloin stake medium with blue cheese sauce. Delicious the steak was perfect more cheese in sauce. I will be back . Wife had the kebab and loved it , girls you were smashing service Brill, thanks s much , Steve and Joan

Very nice food will visit again

A great place to go with friends. A lovely atmosphere and well presented. The tables etc were all clean and tidy and the food was fantastic. Will definitely be returning.
