This place never disappoints - everything is just great, nothing is ever too much trouble. Love it ❤️

Absolute shambles, if I could leave zero stars I would. I booked on the Wednesday for Saturday 29/3/25 for 5 people. The meal was booked as a treat for my mother. On arrival the main pub was really busy, standing room only. We made our way through to the main restaurant reception to let them know we were there. We stood there for a few minutes while getting a few funny looks from a lady who I’m presuming was the manager/landlady until she eventually asked if we’d booked to then be told we wasn’t on the list. I showed the lady my call log and the time and date that id booked. She then told me that it had just happened to someone previously and she had to turn them away also. I explained to the lady that the restaurant was empty and we’d obviously booked and were there and we wouldn’t be in there long so there was no reason to not seat us and just accept they’d made a mistake and rectify it. The lady wasn’t having any of it and was really passive aggressive towards me. She eventually tried to find us a table in the main bar area which was really overcrowded. With my mother being elderly and disabled it was no good to be sat surrounded by people stood over us drinking and enjoying their evening and also the fact we had 3 other young girls in our party that felt uncomfortable so we didn’t want to sit in the corner of the bar. I was then told by the lady there was nothing she could do to which I replied well you could apologise, she then completely lost it and jumped two feet off the floor throwing whatever she was holding in her hands on the floor shouting I HAVE APOLOGISED. She hadn’t at all, the passive aggression and rudeness was so unprofessional. Neither me or any of my party will be returning to The Halfway House in Royton ever again. The whole evening was ruined for all 5 of us and my mother was really upset. I understand mistakes are made but there’s a level of professionalism and respect expected by paying customers who have gone out of their way to make plans/travelled for a Saturday evening at this Restaurant. JW Lees and said manager /landlady should be ashamed of themselves.

Been quite a few times, never had a bad meal. Reasonable prices. They have a separate dining area where dogs are allowed.

Good food but someone had a dog that they allowed to bark constantly, not the pubs fault but very annoying nevertheless

Food is bang on, great choice. Fantastic staff. The pub can get busy but they take reservations. Plenty of tvs that show sport. There's darts and pool. Great selection of wines beers,spirits etc. The Guinness is on point. Highly recommend. The beer garden is beautiful when the sun makes its rare appearance these days.

Worst meal i have ever hat,the cream of Tomato soup tasted like it had a full pot of pepper poured on it, the Braised steak and mash was not much better left a horrible taste in my mouth.which I had on Sunday 16th February horrible food.

Staff are very friendly and went out of their way for us. The atmosphere of the place is warm and welcoming.

My wife went with a ladies group for a Christmas meal and was very impressed, so we arranged to have a family birthday meal there. Excellent from start to finish, great food with good portions at reasonable prices, what’s not to like, and all within walking distance, will definitely go again.

Booked a table for 2 , turned up and they didn’t have the booking. Showed them the phone call and was just told we don’t have you wrote down. Wasn’t apologetic or trying to sort anything. Was only until we said we would go somewhere else the girl apologised. Disappointing service.

Excellent as always, the high standard is aways present. We all enjoyed.

Friday teatime and the pub was nice and busy. Warm and friendly welcome from the team as always. We both had a dish from the specials menu and were very happy. The lamb kebab was tender and the hake with dill sauce was delicious. Both really well prepared and good size portions. Wine was good too. Very happy this pub is our local.

Great Sunday lunch, served on hots plates. Good value for money.

Normally Sunday lunch is very good. But disappointed today asked for 2 x lamb dinners and they served us Ham!!! I'm not one for complaining so I ate it anyway! Hate the thought of wasting food! I must say it was very Luke warm. When I ask for my plate to be served 🔥 I really do mean it! The food is quality so no complaints there! Please listen more to your customers needs.

Food was top notch. Staff were lovely. Manageress was honest and spotted that the deposit we paid hadn't been deducted too. So good experience all around. 10/10 would go again.

Great place to catch up with friends. I can highly recommend the chicken hanging kebab.

Popped in with friends for a quick bite to eat along with a few drinks. Lovely pub restaurant which caters for all whether you are wanting to dine in the restaurant section, have a catch up in the bar food area which is where we sat or party done pool and watch some sport on the various tv's the choice is yours.

Been coming here for a couple of years, mainly to eat. Never had a bad meal, all top quality and great staff.

Super friendly service, varied menu including 2 salad choices and great Sizzlers. Also Sunday roasts( just on Sundays of course). Very reasonably priced. Steak sizzler just £20.

Had lasagne and it was the worst I’ve ever had. Nearly half of it was a thick layer of the chewiest cheese ever.

We booked a small funeral reception, which was held in a side room, an ideal setting, private but also open enough to the rest of the pub so that we didn't feel isolated. Vikki and her team looked after us admirably and the food was excellent, with more than enough even for the largest appetite. Our vegan daughter was well catered for, too, which was a relief, and she chose from the main menu. We will definitely return to eat here.

Good food and rowdy atmosphere, (well to be expected as England were playing).

Service and food good. Ample parking at the back and even has 3 disabled spots at the front.

Horrible food and when I told them I was met with the absolute stinking attitude from the landlady (Karen). Karen claimed that my steak was cooked correctly ( it definitely wasn’t) and claimed that she’s worked in the food industry for years ( chill out Karen it’s a Lees pub that you run for the brewery it’s hardly San Carlos ) anyway if you enjoy good food I’d avoid this place.

Very well looked after by a friendly team. Wonderful food, delivered before we had a chance to order our second drink, so asked the girl that brought our food if she could bring more drinks, not a problem. We weren't even in the restaurant. Well run and well organized. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Went here for a meal on Tuesday afternoon. My wife had the soup of the day (broccoli and stilton) which she said was delicious, then sirloin steak main course which she also enjoyed. I just had the homemade meat and potato pie with chips pickled red cabbage mushy peas and gravy. All was great except the gravy, it never arrived. I waited a few minutes after my plate ariived devoid of any slippage juice, expecting the gravy boat to follow unfortunately that ship never sailed. I have to be honest, it ruined my day. I don't think I shall sleep tonight wondering what might have been. I'm not sure if I can ever go back there, I couldn't go through the trauma if it was to happen again.

This place is brill for somewhere to have a drink and eat, the food was really nice and the table service was bang on. Will definitely be coming back

Really disappointed with roast dinners, poor quality slices of beef, I only got one slice on my plate it’s not cut from a joint in house. The roast potatoes were reheated in a microwave and very bland gravy, Yorkshire pudding tasted a bit stale. Hugely disappointing. Won’t be returning

Wednesday night quiz is a great night out. Starts at 9pm, with a free supper thrown in. There's a chance to have a go at 'Play your cards right' (see photo) if you're picked out in the raffle and there's bingo to play too. Pub has many screens for sky/TNT sports...

6 of us visited on 24th April. We all enjoyed our food and it was busy with lunch time dining. We would definitely go again. Thank-you for a delicious chicken curry.

Unfortunately food wasn’t great, had a starter garlic bread was greasy as hell, we even had to use tissue to dry it up, our main came out and the food presentation was poor ordered steak and it look d dreadful, it was cremated there’s well done and there cremated, it came with hard peas and about 7 chips which could of done with 2 more minutes in the fryer, very small mushroom pointless tbh. Overall won’t be visiting again.

Had roast beef dinner. The beef was really chewy. The desert was delicious. But everything else was great.

Called in to the Halfway House for dinner on a Thursday evening we hadn't booked, staff found us a table, staff very welcoming, food was great, with plenty of choice on the menu, I ordered the peri peri chicken hanging kebab, my wife had the chicken sizzler with sweet chilli sause, both meals were very nice well presented, highly recommended.

Always have a meal when we call in, great menu choice. Food is fresh and great quality. Plenty of seating but when sport is on its very busy and loud so best to book so you get a table in the restaurant half. Nice big beer garden and plenty of parking.

Had food which was really nice and a pint of JW Lees MPA which was in great condition. Nice pub with a large car park and friendly staff. I'll visit again and would recommend.

EVery time We've been in it's a brilliant night with good entertainment ! I should of asked for a plate with the chicken kebab. It would of been easier to eat. It was lovely

We went last night and ate from the Christmas menu. Wow...it was amazing. I had three courses, dont know how i ate it all. I had garlic mushrooms (beautiful), turkey dinner with ALL the trimmings(really i could have fed three) and sticky toffee pudding( gorgeous). We were a group of eleven and people varied from 2 to 3 courses. Everyone commented on their individual dish choice and they everyone agreed the food was amazing. The service was excellent too and not rushed in the slightest. Well done Halfway House and Merry Christmas.

Could ask for better. Everything was great. If there is one criticism, its portion sizes are too big. Perhaps two sizes with two prices. I hate to see food wasted.

Lack of customer service . We waited for a while for someone to come to take our drinks order, we had to flag a member of staff to come and take it. 50 -60 minutes waiting for food(mains only), with booking and deposit paid in advance,( pre-orde sent in advance also to make service smoothly as being a 10 guests party). Waitress came after 40 minutes waiting to apologise for delay and to let us know will get a comp on bill at end. One of mains (mixed grill) came without the steak on plate, have been brought at table 5 minutes later followed after another 5 minutes by onion rings which were missing too, and the tomato never showed up to complete the dish. Chicken and pancetra linguine served without chicken in( realised half way through dish is missing and at this point didn't fancy to wait another 40-50minutes for a fresh one so didn't point out to staff was nice but..) after finishing eating took ages until someone finally came to clear the table and check the deserts pre-order and coffees( deserts came in relatively good time but took long time for someone to come and clear the empty plates after. We asked and got the bill with no comp on, talked to waitress which originally told us about comp and she passed the bill to manager which was next to her. Hashtag awkward being next to her, she didn't even acknowledged us or try to speak with us. I get is a 10% service charge added to large parties and we happily pay anywhere we go but this time we paid 10% service charge for lack of service.

Never had a bad meal here good selection reasonable prices we had the early bird special £8.98 Ideal for a midweek treat

Lovely chilled pub Lunch here, black pudding stack was delicious,as was the crème brulé. Staff provided excellent service and the food was really tasty. Decent size car park attached.

We went for a pre birthday meal here our second visit. Staff are really nice, polite and helpful. The meal was delicious. We had pate for starters which was really nice I had the suet meat pudding, hubby had steak and ale pie, lovely food and nice staff and atmosphere. Recommended
