This place is fabulous! I've been here 4 times now recently, so I'm confident to add a meaningful review. We all know curry varies from place to place. Here you get lots of sauce, but it's not at all oily or greasy. It's also not too salty. You get lots of meat that is properly cooked, regardless of how busy they are. To finish off, they are fast and offer exceptional value, especially if, like me, you collect to save 20%. Very highly recommended.

Great Indian takeaway food is always hot and really reasonable and they do great discounts for collection. Its difficult to find a good Indian but this is a great one with reasonable portions as well.

the motor poneer was a disgusting mess of a bland curry sauce with greasy melted cheese. the potato curry only contained one piece of potato. the sauces i ordered did not come.

the paneer was very low quality, and should not melt, but it did. very disappointed, and my evening was ruined

We ordered a takeaway last night for delevery only one tikka masala arrived give the man his dew he got the others delivered quite fast hut I had eaten mine befor the others arrived so not good for my guests but I will says it was not worth the money I paid the man said he will get food sent out asap or I'm to go through just eat for refund but the quality of the food wà a crock of sh,t first and last time of ordering food from here

Gave My 77yr old mum VERY BAD food poisoning!!!!! ..prawn Tikka tasted like a korma not a Tikka! Very wierd flavor,Colour was wierd. partially eaten the rest went in the bin…3 days later shes still ill….. Avoid like the plague

Have been a patron for 20yrs,.. and have NEVER been disappointed.. until now, and on consecutive orders... So sad to see an outstanding takeaway slide down that slippery slope. My usual dishes have been poor quality and last 2 orders have been wrong and missing items. Offered replacement next time I order... I wont be. £20 for curry, pilau rice and bread that I found very ordinary will not entice me back. 😔😔😔😔😔

Disappointed. Have used the Raj many times and always have had good food and service. Unfortunately this time had to wait over an hour and call to see where order was, amazingly enough order was ready but sitting there. No meat in keema naan so technically a plain one, onion bhajis cold and no yogurt with poppadoms.

Best Indian takeaway in Shoebury. The food is always nice, though the portion sizes had reduced from 8 pieces of meat to 7, but that's to be expected with cost of living etc. Our favourite dishes are Starter- Chilli Paneer Fry (well done) Main - Chicken Tikka Madras or King prawn from time to time. Sides - bombay potatoes and pilau rice. It is very tasty 😋

Tried to short change me £10 and when i asked was told I don’t have any tens and not to come back lol , allways check your change , BUT FOOD WAS GOOD LOL

Amazingly bad!! I can’t believe other reviews say it’s the best Indian in town. The tandoori chicken starter didn’t taste of anything, as did the mushroom bahji. Blandest Indian I’ve ever had. Needed a covid test after because I was convinced I’d lost my sense of taste. Chicken pakora were like a Mac Donald’s attempt at Indian cuisine. Honestly, worst Indian I’ve eaten!!

Very bland and very disappointing. Chicken tikka starter tasteless, butter chicken had tough peices and more like a korma with too much coconut, the bombay potatoes again tasteless and very wet like baby food. The bread and poppadoms were OK but the onion bhaji a let down. We went here for convenience and it was quick and now know why. I don't normally complain or review but this meal was VERY poor. Jonaki Southchurch Rd is my usual and is 1st class compared to here, they had a 2hr delivery wait so unfortunately I ended up wasting my money here. NOTE,even the next morning when Leftovers are even tastier these left overs were all still VERY VERY BLAND.

Best Indian in town. The chilli paneer fry (well done) is one of our favourite starters, the madras is good too, it's all really good food. My sister travels from Dagenham not to see me, but to have this Indian, it's that good 😋

Terrible. Long wait and smug customer service. Waiting over hour and half and still no food, wanted my money back but given lane excuse. Avoid

Took an hour and 55 minutes to arrive. Had to keep calling to find out where it was. Lied to by person answering the phone about when it would get to us. Food was bland and luke warm when it did finally arrive. Absolutely terrible and when phoned and wanted money back was offered a bottle of soft drink. Totally ruined our evening. AVOID ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS

Haven't been here for years as moved closer to town, however it's still amazing and everything we ordered was hot fresh and tasty...the best poppadoms too

I’ve got to say the staff here are the friendliest ever! Really like this place, we don’t go anywhere else now, the food is also so lovely. It’s so refreshing to phone up to order a takeaway & have a friendly voice on the phone every time. When we picked up our order a few weeks back the young lad that was working at the front was also really pleasant & friendly. Keep up the good work!

The worst experience of customer service , phoned 3 times over the course of 90 minutes to be told curry was on its way and finally the manager came on the phone and wanted to argue about the time !!! Then he was going to call the police ! (Really ) over a curry that they didn't deliver and then gave me a refund Absolute avoid this curry house The food well I will never know but the attitude is disgusting

The best Indian take away I've had in years, amazing flavours, so fresh and cooked to perfection. Lovely touch with the free salad, dips, sauces and hand wipes. Especially loved the onion and coriander dip.🙂

Have always been very pleased with meals from The Raj but on this occasion 22/04/21 the chicken was awful which is a shame, it didn't even taste like chicken and was very disappointed. I hope the standard of food gets better again. Previous Review which was 5 star... Must be the best Indian meal I have had for a long long time. The chicken biryani was so tasty and the chicken was cooked just right. The staff were friendly and the meal didn't take too long to cook. If I had to choose a negative it would be that the take away shop could do with more heating.

Been looking for a go to 'traditional' curry house and this is best I've tried in Southend. Great value too! Only slight drawback is the tikka paneer which is not as good as other places.
