Havent visitex for a few weeks due to illness and wax really looking forward to our visit and boy once again left so impressed. From the moment you enter you are welcomed as part of thd family. The waiters are very attentive and friendly getting to know you and making you at home. The bar team of Zak and Paige even though very busy also chat with you and Paige makes a fantastic long island tea cocktail. Food consisted of starters mains and naan on the side and was lovely and flavoursome in a generous portion. Anhar is the owner and oversees the floor and kitchen work in tandem but always ensures he makes you feel special. We have been coming to The Raj regularly now for 2years since we moved into the area and we have never had a bad night, keep up the good work and we will see you all soon.

As a regular customer i followed the Raj on Facebook and they had a promo on if you predict the England score you win a free meal so at 13:59 on the 10th of july 6 hours before the 20:00pm kick off i put my prediction on their facebook page of England 2 Netherlands 1 so at full time i was delighted to have won a free meal i messaged the Raj to see how i claim it and they said to show the message at the till when i collect my curries. I went in showed the message and got a free pathia and keema naan. Today i had 3 missed calls on my phone and a nasty message off Amhar the owner (Little bald angry fella) telling me I had cheated and put the score prediction down after the kickoff time he told me he had his IT guy stood next to him telling him that this was the case. I informed him i have screenshots proving i predicted the scoreline at 13.59pm and he continued to give me verbal abuse down the phone i mentioned I am a regular customer his reply was you never come in to the restraunt which is untrue as we order from the raj every other week as a takeaway. The also proceeded to say he was going to slander me all over facebook, at this point id had enough and put the wife on to confirm my story he kept going on with himself so the wife hung up. I then provided him with all my proof to which ive had no response or apology! We will never step foot in that place again his attitude stinks and to be fair everytime we left with our takewaway we had to sift through the bag as they ALWAYS got the order wrong or missed items out.

Good food and service excellent. Plenty of staff on hand, Varied menu, lots to choose from. Nice, friendly atmosphere.

12 June 2024 ‘Wandering Wednesday’ this week took Hubster Neil, Son Max and myself to Raj in Cultcheth, our gorgeous Rhi wasn’t able to be with us this evening but I’m sure will come on our next visit, as the dishes were so, sooooooo good. Starters: Max had vegetable samosas, Neil and I both had King prawn puri…… Entrées: Max had Chicken tikka, chilli Massala…. With pilau rice. Neil had Chicken tikka Jalfrezi with mushroom rice. I had Akbari Chum Chum….. Tandoori chicken breast, spicy sauce, minced lamb, sultanas and sliced almonds….chunks of tomato and onions, along with onion rice. 2 peshwari naans to share…… it was all top…TOP scran, the dishes were piping hot, with great presentation….. Definitely up there with the best curries we tasted. The restaurant sets right back with plenty of room inside. The wait for food was just cooking time….. The waiters were very well mannered and attentive…. Perfect service. It does get busy, so booking ahead is advisable. Would we be back….. ‘Most definitely!!’…xxx❤️

Brilliant food and service. We had 2 delicious meals and the staff were extremely polite and attentive. The Afghani that I had was the best that I’ve ever had and the sauce was so tasty

It's the second time l have eaten here and l look forward to my next visit on my next trip to Culcheth from Durham. The food and service is excellent as are the staff. It was a very cold and wet night but the restaurant was still busy. I highly recommend the Raj.

This restaurant is fantastic and you could see that it was well regarded by the fact that I would approximate that there were over 100 customers in there at 7pm. The service was exemplary and the management were very engaging. The food choices were extensive and the food itself was excellent. Just returned from our family Christmas dinner for 6 and have to tell you of our experience! From the moment we arrived we were treated like family with very attentive staff. Nothing was a problem and although they were busy, they took time to interact with us whenever possible, outstanding customer service. As for the meal again wasnt a problem to deviate from the set menu, very accomodating again superb customer service. When we left we ALL decided this was what Christmas dinner for us was all about, chilled out, great food and outstanding service - no wonder The Raj wins awards, simply the BEST. Thank you for a memorable experience and see you soon.

The food was delicious, as always. Definitely recommend this restaurant..still one of our favourites. Perhaps they have reduced portions a little bit too much...and I cannot say I cared for the way the bill was left at my table before I asked for it, considering there were over 7 empty tables and nobody queueing to get in.

Fantastic meal with my husband and son. Service was superb from a young man who was polite, courteous, attentive and everything a good waiter should be. Nothing too much trouble and served with a smile. Perfect. The food is absolutely amazing. Everything just spot on. Madras as hot as it should be. A naan bread with our choice of fillings, vegetable side with extra garlic just as we like it. This is why we return again and again. Thank you for another memorable meal.

Personally I would just like to firstly say the staff at The RAJ (Culcheth) are super friendly and get to know their customers. Regarding, disability/acessability for wheelchair users their is a flat flooring which is suitable. We went for a family meal evening including my dad and the staff went out of their way to meet my dad's needs who is blind and needs guidance around steps/inclines and often does not go to public resteraunts because of these reasons. I asked for few things so he could cleanse after eating and they met his needs exceptionally well with the utmost professional understanding. The food and cuisine was 10/10 exceptionally prepared and cooked and served with personality to each and every customer. Overall the atmosphere and environment was the best and inclusive of all guests that evening, including the staff which made it even more great. To add the staff are very friendly and I tipped them for their service. Overall a 5* Stella experience!!!

Went to the Raj to celebrate my birthday. And the staff didnt disapoint. Fantastic organisation for a big party. Food was amazing and table service was fab. Cant fault the staff for their service & dedication to making my birthday eve a night to remember. In particular the waiting staff Mo was really helpful & couldnt do more for me and my girls. Ordered a take away and when we got it home it was completely the wrong food, when we phoned to complain the staff were rude and unhelpful saying”what do you want me to do about it”. I explained that it tasted of nuts and some people have allergies to them and basically they were not interested. We will never use them again. Before we tried them people were saying it wasn’t good but we thought we would give them a chance….What a mistake.

A great place. Fantastic food, great service. You are always made to feel welcome. People come from miles around to eat at the Raj and it's obvious why. If you aren't sure what you want they can offer some great recommendations from the chef's specials. I've been coming for years and am still sometimes happily surprised by something on the menu! Great for family, friends and couples.

We use Tha Raj a lot for takeaways but this week we took our little girl to eat in the restaurant for the first time in a while. The foods was great - as it always is - and the manager made a fuss of my little one which made her night (and his encouragement helped her to clear her plate without a fuss). This is honest, fresh and tasty food in a great village and the atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect for families, friends and couples. I would highly recommend.

I appreciate that with the current Covid businesses can be busy, I’ve had a number of takeaways from here and must say tonight is the final time, the food is never ready on time, tonight it was 20mins later than they told us (collection) and the salad was warmer than the food we received. I called up and the CBA attitude was extremely apparent. They should be ashamed and should feel lucky that people are willing to support them in these times.

We booked a table for 7pm, arrived at 6:50 to an area of around 8 people already waiting for table. We were not acknowledged by any staff so had to just wait until a member of staff came over. We were told to sign into the track and trace list which we did and went back to waiting. After 50 minutes of waiting and being told it would be 10 minutes until we get out seat, a couple who were clearly regular customers and came in 10 minutes earlier were seated before us. In total 3 couples who had arrived after us were seated before us whilst we waited. We then decided to leave as it was obvious (as I have seen already mentioned in a previous review) if you knew the staff you were more likely to get your table than if you had booked and arrived in advance.

So it should have been the last meal before uk lockdown and totally ruined my night. 90 mins and my order still hadn’t been taken. I think I waited long enough to not even been acknowledged by a server was absolutely disgusting. It seemed like if you knew the staff you got served and if you didn’t then sit in your chair and we might serve you when we feel like it. On this occasion they obviously didn’t want to take our order so after 90 mins we got up and left!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Booked a table for 7pm, arrived to a large group of people waiting in the bar, absolutely not social distancing. Told it would be a 15min wait, despite booking.30 mins later, we were ready to leave (quite a few people who arrived after us got sat before us), then they came over to say "follow me".He sat us at a table, which wasn't distanced to other tables at all and said he'd be back in 5 mins to take our order, we noticed alot of people around us had no food, despite being sat down before or since we'd arrived. We waited a further 15 mins, no one came to take our order, 45 minutes since arrival and we didn't even have drinks.The same guy walked past us 4 of 5 times without even acknowledging that we were waiting. We got up and walked out, went to the chippy next door, ordered and had our food within 10 mins. Not 45.I should also mention, the staff all had masks on, under their chins.

Had an amazing meal there with my partner last night. The food was delicious and the service was fab! They went above and beyond for us and I would highly recommend them! Can’t wait to go again.

I went here tonight for a meal. The service and food was appalling, the waiters who were serving appeared to look around 16 to 18 years old and had really bad attitude and were very rude when serving the food. No one asked how the meal was and the manager was even more rude. Example what do you want, not what would you like to order! Please get staff your better manners, as your quality of food is already poor! This was my first and last visit.

Not impressed I’m afraid! We haven’t been here for several years mainly due to service issues plus inconsistency of food! We thought we would have another try to see if we’d been missing out! Sadly we hadn’t, nothing had changed! A wait of 1hour 20 minutes for our starters is unacceptable and a further wait of 45 minutes for main courses equally so! Nobody checked if everything was ok! Another wait for the bill and then ended up going to the bar to pay! Food ok, but not worth the wait. I also felt we’d been overcharged, but it was difficult to tell immediately because the bill was indecipherable! However I did check on returning home and we very definitely were overcharged! Sorry to say we’ll give it a miss in future!

My husband recently had a meal at the Raj, not only was he over charged, in addition the transaction was put through 3 times. Once noticed on the our credit card, he went back to explain that an error had appeared. The manager was extremely rude but did eventually refund the transactionS and the overcharge. We are conscious that errors can occur. however we STRONGLY rge you to check the bill before paying and see what you have been charged for and also check your bank statement.

Had to clean our own table when seated, service poor, staff rude and food average, floor filthy with food!

I will just start off by saying that the staff here are all so friendly and welcoming and it’s a lovely place inside with regards to decor etc but I was very disappointed with my takeaway from here. Firstly the dips with the poppadoms were all really watered down! My bhuna curry sauce didn’t taste anything like a bhuna and was riddled with salt. The chicken was dry and fatty. I will not return unfortunately.

Ordered a take-away from the Raj, it was our wedding anniversary and due to coronavirus lockdown we couldn't go out as usual. Bit of a shaky start with the phone-in, they were obvs very busy, but once we got through order was taken and time it would be ready given. Drove there at the appointed time, meal was ready and we were back home in 10 minutes. The meal was SUPERB, I do a lot of Indian cooking at home so I know a good Indian when I eat one. I had the paneer pakora and veg jalfrezi, hubby had fish pakora and lamb pathia which he loved. Can't recommend highly enough and can't wait to go as a restaurant when the lockdown is over.

Ordered take away at 7pm for delivery at 8pm came at 7.15 and omg it was bad. Onion badgie pure grease croma was just water. Never again pure waste of £25. Rang up and complained didn’t want to no. Cash only no card payments. Bit weird.

Absolutely disappointed after always wanting to try Raj Indian through word of mouth. Ordered £25 worth of food that had chicken hairs in my madras watery no taste, it was just hot . I would not say it was the best Indian around my usual is Ozmi in Warrington. Unfortunately they are closed. I’ve never had an Indian anywhere near as good as Ozmi and thought RAJ would top them what a waste of money. It may look the part but the food I received was disgusting. Won’t be going back.

Waste of money disgusting I live on the onther side of Warrington , went out my way and boy was it a waste of time nan bread was burnt chips was oily. Onion bhaji was burnt no taste. The curry I had, had no taste of any spice. My chicken had little hairs on it and made me heave , I will never be going again only one Indian ozmi best in Warrington . Ive not stopped trumping since I consumed the food. Lets hope I ain't got the trots .... I can feel my belly turning as I type . Please don’t go waste you’re hard earned money there.

Ordered takeaway on Friday 27th March. Food was of same very high standard as eating in. Tikka masala and nans were superb. The lamb chops so tender. It was all great. Delivery, in the circumstances, was exceptional. We ordered for 7 and it arrived 7.20.Well done and thank you to all at The Raj.

The best Indian restaurant are now doing local deliveries which we used last night. We did wait a while for the delivery but it was their first night so I presume they will work on this. We use this restaurant on a regular basis and have got to know the owners and staff. They are lovely people. Please support our local businesses.

Best Chicken Ceylon I've ever eaten and, in my time, I've eaten thousands of them all over the world! Brilliant atmosphere, brilliant staff, prices are incredibly reasonable considering the quality of the food. The Raj is a blessed asset to the locale and Culcheth would be a ghost town without this place. Totally recommended.

What a good place.From the moment we stepped in to the moment of leaving everything was spot on. The food was good , the atmosphere was good & we all agreed it was a good dining experience on the night.Mo was great, I think he is the manager, if so well managed. Booked The Raj after it being recommended. I booked in advance as had been told the restaurant was very popular. Four of us went and on arrival, we received a warm welcome and staff were very friendly. Had a table but sometimes during the meal, it was quite draughty even though we weren't sat near the main entrance. We ordered 8 poppadums but were only given four but when I pointed this out, they were quick to amend their mistake. The menu is very varied and a very good drinks menu as well but it would be handy for the restaurant to include the alcohol free lagers etc on the drinks menu as well. We all felt rushed as staff plonked the starters on the table and we hadn't finished the poppadums. The food is nice but considering we all ordered 'mild' dishes, chef put quite alot of spices in them which spoilt them. Again we felt 'rushed' when the mains arrived. We thought the curry pots would have been put on a 'heater' in the middle of the table but everything was 'scattered' and there wasn't much room. As the meal went on, the restaurant became quite busy and we were 'left'. The restaurant is well staffed but waiters appeared to be quite 'cliquey' with the regulars. We had to ask several times for our dessert order to be taken. Also had to ask a few times for the bill. Its on the dear side and portion sizes are a bit scanty. The food is lovely but I've had better. The physical environment is lovely and spacious. Its nice for the occassional visit but staff need to not rush people's courses. Will be going back to my favourite Indian restaurant.

this is the worst indian meal i have had, selected a lamb madras as i always do in every new indian venue we go to and this was by far the worst, it tasted as though it had been prepared with a powder and no fresh spices at all.

Family meal for 5 people on a Saturday night. Excellent food and attentive staff. Not too heavy on the ticket either.
