The Raj in Carmarthenshire

Dined in at the Raj this evening for a meal, I will be definitely returning to have more food there, Their curries where very delicious and full of flavour, couldn’t put a bad word to it, Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend going there 👍🏻

Went for a meal this evening at the Raj and have to say it’s the nicest Indian I’ve had for a long while. Everything came out hot and quick. I sampled two curries, both of which were extremely tasty! Great service, cute little place and also serves a nice pint of Madri! Will definitely be back and highly recommend

The Raj used to be the Blue Boar Pub which closed during the Covid Lockdown and never really completely reopened. It's great to see a local pub being put to good use. Carmarthen needs another Indian restaurant, the others always seem to be fully booked up. At the time of writing this (12th Nov 22) it had only been opened a few days, so some teething problems were expected but there weren't any apart from the card reader not being delivered in time, but there is a cash machine around the corner. There will be a card machine very soon if not already. Some staff are quite young and inexperienced, but very pleasant and helpful, they'll get more confident very quickly. The lady in charge ensured that everything went smoothly. The inside is smart and modern, the toilets are excellent (unlike some others!). Many South Asian restuarants have menus that are much too big. This one a nicely condensed, quite quick and easy to run through and all the essentials are there. The food itself is great, and NOT swimming in oil! We were a group of 4 with one vegan. They were very happy to ensure that her food was vegan friendly (no ghee). Overall a very welcome addition to the town, and I will certainly be back!
