Belfoi in Carmarthenshire

Only delivery available on Just Eat to our caravan site so took a chance and ordered from here. Ordered two meal deals and the food arrived promptly and even directly to our caravan. Ordered onion bhajis and chicken tikka starter which arrived with complimentary salad, Poppadoms and sauce. Followed by chicken tikka masala and chicken dupiaza accompanied with nan and chips. Food was delicious and plenty of it. Best meal I've had in ages and would definitely order from them again. Thank you very much 😊

We have ordered a takeaway from here a couple of times, the food is always amazing and they are happy to make changes to dishes to make them vegan for me. Also the customer service is brilliant 👏

£15 for the buffet is an insane deal. Open until 10pm at the moment too.

Brilliant Indian restaurant in the centre of Carmarthen. Excellent food quality. Very good service. Reasonable prices. And after 6pm there's free parking within 1 min walk. Highly recommended. One of the highlights of Carmarthen for sure.

Good food fairly slow service but very busy due to Valentine's day

Always amazing food and service. We might just be lightweights, but always seem to have enough left to take home for tomorrow too, so the value for money is outstanding! A visit always puts a smile on my wife’s face too, so it’s a winner for us. Highly recommended.

Spend a lovely Saturday evening at the restaurant. Waiters were polite and helpful. Food was plentiful and delicious.

Ordered Lamb Rogan, Chicken Bhuna, Pilau Rice and a Keema Nan for delivery. Arrived about an hour after phone order. Food was cold on arrival (as was previous deliveries from Belfoi) so had to microwave it all. Not the same then. As I only live 1.3 miles from the restaurant this is unacceptable ( hence 3 stars). Shame the delivery service is not as good as the food. One positive note is that the food is delicious.

Been eating at Belfoi since it opened and before at Elaichi since I was a teenager, but unfortunately this is my final time after a disappointing takeaway which could not be rectified as requested by a refund. We live around 20 minutes which would be the same as a delivery but working long hours I just wanted to sit with the family and eat a meal together. We took our food out and it was dry, chewy, and un-edible tried some but had to spit it out. Worst we’ve ever had from either establishments, so I call up to explain the food and if a refund when I’m back towards town would be viable as £57 worth of food is a lot if your not going to eat and drive back after being awake for 15 hours. A young lad told be someone would call back and they did, but said I would have to drive back to have it recooked, or a voucher as they won’t do a refund. For nearly 20 years and never asked for my full money back (maybe an masala if it wasn’t great) and I’m refused as apparently some people like ‘chewy’ food and some people. If I was there I would have as they would have no choice for a refund, but if you have a takeaway that’s not an option if you don’t want to eat there again. Disappointment is how I’m feeling and I’ve learnt never to rely on your local Indian you’ve been going to for a long time over two establishments. My first poor food review and hopefully my last. Be cautious folks, not all the you think when a problem arises and you want to your money back. Disappointed Hussain, disappointed 👎

I’ve dined in and taken away from this Indian. I’ve also visited their Elaichi restaurant since I was very little and I cannot express how amazing this place is. Their variety of menu is amazing and everything tastes perfect. The staff are so incredibly lovely too and you can see they really hard. I could go on and on about this place. Really really REALLY worth the visit!

Absolutely amazing food, value for money and service. Quickly rectified and error with our order and went above and beyond. We are currently visiting for Christmas and this has made our Christmas. Amazing thank you so much.

Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere l, the staff are so so friendly and always around if needed. The staff are amazing with children and very receptive to their needs. Infact our toddlers first time eating Indian cuisine. He absolutely loved it could not have chosen any where better for him to try. Over all really enjoyed thank you to all of you at Belfoi! The food at this Indian restaurant is incredible the stuff could not have done anything else to be more accommodating has we had a couple of guests that were vegan we was a party of 6 people when we arrived we got complimentary poppadoms with pickle tray everybody add two lots of drinks starters and main courses would a total price of a round £140 which for the quality of the food and the service this was incredible

This is definitely the best Indian restaurant in Wales! The food is always so fresh and tasty. The staff are always friendly and never make you feel uncomfortable or pester you. We frequently dine here as a family whenever we are in Carmarthen. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and a delight. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. The food! This is why we are prepared and excited to travel almost an hour’s drive to dine at Belfoi. The afternoon buffet and Thursday evening buffet is actually a banquet! So much choice and variety. Yesterday the buffet had three types of rice, chicken tikka biriani, pilau and boiled, around 12 various main course dishes, fresh nan bread, starters and a selection of child friendly dishes all readily available. Every time we go the dishes are a different selection from the menu. Vegetarian options are excellent! Everything is delicious, fresh and authentic. Happiness is eating at Belfoi!

Excellent across the board, food, service and atmosphere! Hard to fault and the hot towels at the end was a nice touch. Highly recommend and will return 100%.

Had take away twice form here, after trying a few in town and my what a beautiful meal every time. I like my hot curries and always go for vindaloo or similar, tonight I decided to try the “maharaja special” beautiful not as hot as the vindaloo but hot enough and the flavour was beautiful wasn’t looking for just a spicy curry I wanted to try something new wasn’t over powering I love indian food and have tried loads of takeaways and restaurants. Highly recommend going to be my go to every time Definitely going to come for a sit down meal as even just from the takeaway pickup the service was brilliant. I’ve tried indian food all over the uk and I must say this is up there with the best I’ve had. Gorgeous food, not greasy or overly spiced. Thank you belfoi Carmarthen

I ordered through just eat as usual.First two occasions I ordered(the food was amazing.)Tonight's food was inedible as my veggie madras was swimming in oil and when I say swimming I mean it.The chips had been reheated and the samosas were soft and no crunch, onion bahjeez were ok i guess.Best part was poppadoms and lemon cheese cake. Absolutely annoyed as delivery was also over half hour late.I asked for no salad and no mint sauce and I still ended up with them. I really like Belfoi,however I spent what I did only for food to go straight in bin. Gentleman answering phone tonight was very polite and to be fair they always are polite.I would really appreciate if Belfoi could make a comment on this disaster of food tonight please.

Don't know what all the bad reviews are about. The food is fresh, well presented, and above all it is CLEAN. The waiters are extremely friendly and clearly try their best. The place was less crowded than others in the area which meant serving times were quick and my family could hear each other speaking. The prices were extremely fair for the quality of the food and the place was very well decorated. One of my more favourable dining experiences.

Beer was flat I left half a pint of cobra. Food wasn’t nice chicken was rubbery. When I told them I wasn’t happy about the food they told me I ordered the wrong chicken 🤔 Little flys also around the table. I for one won’t be returning

Have eaten here a few times recently, the food is fantastic.. friendly service, nice decor, comfortable seats, very clean and love the special offers available during the week. Have had starters, main courses and side dishes and all has been great, not oily at all and bursting with spices and flavour.. Highly recommended ❤️😊

Visited with a large group for the second time and food and drinks came out quickly. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Food was delicious and portions were plentiful, everyone in our group really enjoyed. Looking forward to returning again in future.

Asked for no onions in two dishes, got them to reiterate it reading back the order. Loads of onions in both dishes. Threw it away and won't be returning.

Cannot recommend. After discovering a cockroach wandering around our food, refused to pay but the complete lack of understanding basic English by staff made it impossible. Had to resort to a charge-back from the bank.

I hate to mark down as this was once my favourite restaurant. However as a new parent, having no baby changing facilities is a big no no. Especially as you have won awards recently. Severely disappointed.

Came down from London to visit my son & his wife who live locally. They had passed this restaurant before & thought it looked crowded. Not surprising as the 4 of us visited tonight ( Monday!) and the food, the service & the price were all amazing. Would have given it 6 stars if I could have😢

Had a takeaway which consisted of three kebabs we had one small mint sauce between three and one small bag of salad lamb had grisle!

Excellent meal with great service

Lovely decorated and spacious restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Service was very good and food came out quick enough considering it was busy in the restaurant. The starters weren't particularly great and slightly overpriced. I had the duck tikka which was dry, fatty and lacked flavour. My husband wasn't overly impressed with his kebab platter either. The main courses were absolutely delicious and chicken was cooked beautifully. We thoroughly enjoyed our curries and my rice was also tasty. However, the chips were hard and undercooked. If it weren't for how good the curries were I would've rated lower as not all the food was to our satisfaction. Overall, I'd say 3 and half stars. We will come back again but will skip the starters next time.

Normally I would give a 5 star for atmosphere, but last Friday evening I was upset by the way the management spoke to one of the staff. The waiters are extremely polite and hard working and do not deserve to be spoken down to, it upset my evening. Other than this incident, it is a lovely place to eat.

Very conveniently placed near to Vue cinema. We popped in for a quick meal and discovered the buffet, which was a pleasant surprise. However the waiter didn't explain how it worked and there was no instruction on the tables. We worked it out in the end but wouldn't have asked them to provide the chips had we known. I was very pleased to see a proper wheelchair accessible restaurant in Carmarthen.

Must admit I saw a few reviews and I was nervous to go BUT ignore them. We didn’t do buffet but had the main menu and was very impressed. I had no idea how big it was inside, which was great as there was loads of large groups having their parties. A great spirit in there and given Xmas crackers too. Staff were great, attentive and friendly not a complaint. Even staff not serving us spoke to us and were smiley and polite. They have customer service down to a T. Food was great no complaints I think the persons and pickles were complementary, which is a nice touch. Will be back as soon as I can. Good value

The staff where lovely, helpful and friendly, it's just a shame the same can't be said for the food which was abysmal ☹️ went here for my husbands birthday whilst on holiday, the buffet choices where embarrassing if I'm honest, few poppadoms, "red" mango chutney that tasted of well I don't know? Dried up chips, the rice wasn't too bad, these round cornflour fry things that almost broke my tooth! Black burned onion bajis, shameful excuse for salad, not a tomato in sight! Nan bread that could sole a joggers trainer! As for the curries? I live in Yorkshire and have Asian/Indian/Pakistani friends that wouldn't even serve those curries up to my dog, they where disgraceful! Watered down, no richness, aroma or spice, the "chicken wings" tasted like they'd been cooked in heinz bbq sauce or something, if I had have rustled up what was being served there tonight I'd have been to ashamed to have served it up to guests, so how they can justify £14.95 for it I don't know! Oh and note to management an all you can eat "buffet" means A: the food must be enjoyable or at least edible first, and is also supposed to include starters, main and somesort of dessert, I mean I saw chocolate sauces etc out ready, and we had a spoon, but when I asked where the desserts where I was told they're not included 🤔 and was handed a dessert menu which btw was extortionate! I feel absolutely ripped off I barely ate anything, drowned my sorrows with prosecco and came out hungry! And even burping I'm getting nothing repeating on me not even a hint of garlic! Wtf are the sauces from jars? Although my bottom is telling a different story, think the chicken may have a lot to answer for! How this place has the reviews it has i'll never know, the family behind me where just as disappointed too! Suggestion - get yourself over to Yorkshire or Birmingham, and learn Asian Cuisine! Go eat at Nawabs Bradford, Birmingham or Manchester, was a favourite or princess Diana, or Akbars! To learn a lesson in real flavours!

Just had all you can eat lunch here, we have to say that everything was hot. There is a good choice to suit everyone's taste. The staff are polite and friendly. Would definitely visit again.

Had a takeaway tonight and to say the experience was different to last time would be an understatement. We ordered on the phone and was initially told our order was £31, after questioning this it was then recalculated to £19. (We have the same food every time so know the price was wrong). We waited about 30 minutes for delivery, which was expected, when the person gave us our food he told us it was £23, again we questioned the cost but just paid the bill as we were hungry. The food itself wasn’t great, the chicken tikka only contained about 5 pieces of chicken and the second dish had 6 pieces. The raita was watery and the whole meal was completely tasteless. Will not be buying from here again for a while as I’m still hungry as the food wasn’t tasty enough to finish. Would I recommend this place? Probably not, but we have eaten there before and the food was lovely and piping hot, maybe they were having a bad day.

Attended Belfoi in Carmarthen for my baby shower at the weekend. We booked for a large table on a Saturday lunch time and this was no problem. Communication from the moment of booking to the day was efficient and on the day, the staff were absolutely wonderful! The staff helped my friends to decorate the restaurant, they really couldn’t do enough for us! Very attentive and the food was beautiful! They done everything they could to make it a special event and everyone had a lovely day, enjoyed the food and have decided it’s our go to place for any special events! Thank you so much to all at Belfoi☺️

We held our friends babyshower here on Saturday 11th November and it is honestly one of the most hospitable and friendliest restaurant iv been too. They honestly couldn't do enough for us . Wonderful staff and the food I absolutely amazing ! Thankyou sooo much guys , your doing amazing . 👏

Sunday lunch for a family of 6, disappointing that having called the day before there wasn't a table set up ready for us. We all had the buffet, which I enjoyed, but have had better. Was pleased to see refills coming from the kitchen in what appeared to be the saucepan they'd been cooked in, not a plastic bowl from the microwave like I've seen in some places. Options for starters were cheap with some being not very Indian in nature (breaded chicken strip for example), some of the onion bhajis weren't cooked through with stodgy centres. The chutney for the poppadoms was just a cheap sauce. Some of the curries were delicious, Lamb Methi and Chicken Saag Special being the best. The chicken tikka massala was very red with watery sauce. Good selection of sauces, including Nando's Sauce and chocolate sauce, but no desert included with the buffet. Restaurant, including toilets, were clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Takeaway ordered. Lamb rogan Josh, veg pathia, mushroom rice and chips. Both curries had no spice. Tub of tinned tomatoes best way to explain. Chips rock hard and maybe 3 slices of mushroom in rice. Awful food.

A few years ago this was the Sheesh Mahal a nice old fashioned Indian restaurant. Then it closed and was empty for a while. Then it was taken over by people who had no idea about how to do things. Now it is Belfoi (Belfoi means olive). And it's great! Lots of nice comfortable space. Staff are helpful and pleasant, and very importantly, the food is good! Prices are about right (draught beer is comparable to some local pubs!). An enormous menu, probably too big, it would take an age to read it all and the number of choices make it difficult to actually choose. However, whenever I visit somewhere new I always ask for the same dish. I'm a bit of a Chicken Tikka Rogan nut! The version at Belfoi was great, moist flavoursome chicken, good fresh tomatoes, not too hot or spicy, I'd use more garlic but that's me being very picky. Overall a bit hit with me! A very welcome addition to eating out in Carmarthen. I'll be back, definitely.

This was the first time for myself and wife to go to the Belfoi, I can assure it will not be the last, the food was well prepared very tasty and excellent presentation , service was exceptional with all tending to our needs being very polite and helpful. One of the best chicken chat I have ever tasted, the chicken tikka was moist well cooked and full of flavour, madras was hot spicy but didn't give an afterburner taste as others I've tasted, in all it was a lovely meal and a very pleasant experience.

This was our first visit to the Belfoi and it really didn't disappoint. The service was fantastic with all staff being very happy and helpful. The entire meal was excellent with my starter of Chicken Chaat Puri standing out, particularly the Puri, being the best I've ever tasted. I would advise booking as they were very busy on this particular Friday evening. Well done Belfoi, we will be back!

One of the best curries I have ever had, and I regard myself as a curry connoisseur!!! The staff are so friendly and kind. We have had two takeaways now, and each time our daughter has been given a lollipop which she loves. We are also vegetarians and there are no problems in accommodating us by making any of the dishes vegetarian (even though there are a wide range of vegetarian options on the menu). I am also a hot head, so my veg phall was awesome, a proper phall hot dish!! They even made a garlic chillie massalla as a veg dish, and raising the heat to vindaloo hot, which again was spot on. Awesome food, happy to tailor things, and very friendly, genuine service. Despite living near Llandeilo we'll try as much as possible to buy our curries from here again. Diolch yn fawr pawb.

All the staff and the owner are super friendly, highly efficient and professional. Food that we’ve had has been wonderful. Can definitely recommend the Lamb Sizzler (flamed at our table!) Mushroom Rice, Keema Nan and Cheese Nan. Want to try the buffet next in order to sample more of their delicious dishes. Highly recommend a visit.

We ordered food for delivery food was nice but cold and was missing a naan bread that should have come with the main Tandoori mix grill also there was only four piece of chicken in the chicken tikka masala, I won’t be using the delivery service again.

Had a sit down meal this evening beautiful decor. Highly recommend the shakuti one of the best I’ve had. Lamb madras was also lovely. Big portions we had started and main and drinks. reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again.
