The Prospect Italian Bistro in Sunderland

Fabulous service. I made an error on my order today and was called to clarify what I wanted as it didn’t match when they read what I had added in the notes section. Top class customer service thank you. Also fab food as always. The Sunday lunch is yummy

Our Sunday Lunch was outstanding 10/10.

Food was okay but overpriced for what we got. Delivery was over an hour and a half when first given a time of 40 mins. No sorry from restaurant or offer of good will to explain why food took so long. Not very impressed with overall experience.

Was due to be delivered 6.35, called at 6.58 and was told it’s out for delivery, will be 15 mins. Called again at 7.20 to find it’s not out for delivery. But will be 15 minutes. Finally delivered at 7.43pm. If you’re wanting to eat at a reasonable time with a delivery that doesn’t exceed 2 hours from order then don’t go here. Excuse was it’s Mother’s Day weekend so busy, shouldn’t take orders if it’s too busy

The food is the best quality Italians we have ever had from a takeaway , fast delivery too

Sunday lunch terrible service waited an hour for main meals other people came in after and got served before us and left then to top off woman sat on next table came in restraint with dog, bad enough to be feeding dog from plate but most staff came over and petted dog then served food prob not best practise claimed to have washed hands but again I doubt that

Had Sunday lunch here today it was one of the best I have had . The choice of vegetables are excellent and perfectly cooked and seasoned . The whole lunch was a delight to eat ,even the coke I drank was good ,I could not find one fault ,staff friendly attentative and seemed genuinely pleased that I enjoyed my food. I very mech looked forward to eating here again .

Where to start about this shambles of a pub? The only saving grace about this place was that it was warm inside. Table not ready, even though it was booked over a week prior. When the waitress came to take the order, after finally being seated, it was as though the life and soul had been sucked from her, was this girl an escapee from Azkaban? Had a dementor taken hold of her before her shift? Or were the pub owners paying her so poorly? Order given, asked for a garlic cheese bread to be served with the mains. It was not. They were so desperate to get the food out it seemed, although not quite hasty enough to clear the table afterwards. Mains arrived after around 30-40 minutes, although it felt like an eternity in that soulless, dimly lit pub. Steaks were not cooked as requested, one rare, one well done. Both came out medium. Even though it was “steak night”. Clearly the chef has a good opinion of himself, but does not know how to cook a steak. One steak knife given between two, and told to fight between the two of us. How ridiculous, am I to pin my partner down so I might get a morsel of my chewy fat? Sauces missed and a portion of fries, both had to be asked for. Did these servers have dementia? Desserts finally came almost 2 hours after initially entering the restaurant, chocolate cake. Requested nothing with it, came with ice cream. Fingers crossed we’re not allergic. Worst service I’ve experienced in a long time, which is a shame for such a well reviewed place. Maybe if they had adequate staff, I might consider returning. Alas, I will not be.

Slices could of been bigger what you pay u could get a full cake from supermarket, slices were like for a child. Please improve portion size.

A gem of a place. Visited for a family dinner. Had to change our table to slightly later and staff were very accommodating. The food was delicious including our granddaughter’s meals of pizza and pasta Napoli and they both loved the ice cream with strawberry sauce for dessert. None of the adults could manage dessert unfortunately as they all looked amazing. The service was excellent and the lovely manager brought us some complementary macarons to take home and a little bag of sweets for the children. We’ll definitely visit again soon and would have no hesitation recommending.

Great atmosphere and lovely food, our first visit but will definitely go back. I had the beef Stroganoff and would recommend.

Hello just came back from a meal at your restaurant with my partner and daughter..ordered Cajun chicken for it to arrive and just taste like tomato pasta I did make your “manager” (blonde hair) aware of this she took it back to kitchen then brought it back and said chef says it is Cajun, then to add insult she brought a pot of chilli and said put that in if you want spice absolutely stinking attitude and smirked when she walked away. The bill arrived and I had to ask for it to be removed as I’m not paying for something I never ate ..I do eat regularly at this restaurant but will defo not be going forward.

Food was an hour late , ordered gamberoni rice and vegetables - prawns were over cooked and smelt funny in a watery “garlic/whitewine” sauce rice was bone dry hard bits and not properly cooked. Vegetables were missing. Ordered a child’s meal and chips had clearly been reheated as they tasted stale and the pasta was over cooked in a thick tomato sauce which was clearly from a jar. For the cost and time we waited with no apology from driver , totally unacceptable. Will never order from here again.

The food from Prospect is consistently outstanding—expertly prepared, beautifully presented, and delivered with care. Remarkably, it always arrives piping hot, retaining its quality and flavor. Though I rarely leave reviews due to the challenges of ongoing chemotherapy, I felt compelled to acknowledge the excellence of this establishment. Just had a beautiful lunch today Friday 1st November 2024 and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of the food. The service was impeccable and the staff were really friendly and polite.

First time for Sunday lunch it was a fabulous meal fast service and friendly would definitely recommend. My mam had the small lunch and could still not eat it all will definitely be returning

We used to love the Sundays dinner here, but unfortunately something has changed, the quality and presentation just is not the same anymore. I think this may be the last time we order from here, which I am really disappointed about :(

Visited with a friend last Wednesday afternoon and weren’t sure how it would be as it was very quiet. The young waitress was excellent and the food was absolutely amazing! Delicious.. we will definitely be back .. bruschetta to start and chicken al forno for the main.. absolutely first class 😊

My wife and I had sunday lunch at this establishment for the first time. We booked easily online and got seated by a friendly staff member when we arrived. We ordered drinks by another friendly staff member and ordered starters and main courses.The food when it arrived looked and tasted lovely - We had potato skins, brushetta,roast beef and roast pork dinners.All the food was excellent and the service was prompt and friendly. We shall definitely return.

The venue was busy when we turned up but not overly crowded and it had a nice atmosphere. We still got seated straight away. We were asked if we wanted drinks as soon as we sat which was nice. Menu had lots of choice on it, it was hard to decide what to order. The food we chose was lovely and the portions were large. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to ask if we wanted any more drinks etc.

Lovely food but received lukewarm as it was over 45 mins late on advised delivery. Would definitely recommend if you’re not starving and willing to wait

What an amazing Greek night .The food was plentiful and tasted delicious.The entertainment was fantastic and the staff are the most friendliest people they really looked after us.Even got to take some of the beautiful food home Well you couldn't waste it it was too yummy .It was a brilliant atmosphere.If anyone is thinking about going here for there Greek night just do it because it's the best.I would also consider there Sunday lunches there delicious too.Thanks again 💕

Really enjoyed our visit! The food was so good, proper authentic Italian staff and food, I had the garlic mushroom starter and the cajun creamy chicken pasta and both were really good, I even enjoyed the side salad! I wanted pud but couldn't fit it in. The atmosphere was busy, noisy and fun! We will definitely come back.

More Italian in me than this food, and I'm very english ha! Not nice at all, tastless, even my kids said so,cheeky waitress asked do you want your change! Which was nearly £5, avoid if you looking for proper Italian food, very bland and cheap ingredients!

Last night (Wednesday 25th September) we went to celebrate our 48th Wedding Anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make it so special for us. Decided at the last minute to go out for dinner and decided to try the prospect. Absolute great decision, food and service was excellent. Considering we had 4 drinks on the bill the price was very reasonable.

Food was lovely service was terrible was asked to come 15 minutes before time booked and waited 20 mins to get a drink and long time between starters and main course. Ordered a 2nd drink and still waiting now on my way home

Over an hour late from original delivery time(60-90 mins) Used many times but not last cpl months. Portions half size so definitely not worth cost. Cold food but delivery driver lovely and said sorry for wait. Gutted as I used to use a lot, but won’t again as I won’t pay that price for 1/2 portion size I used to get 😔 sorry but won’t be back or recommend

Food was lovely, couldn’t fault it. Delivery time was changed as must have been busy, but wasn’t much later than original time slot given. Got the Sunday roast and a chicken nugget kids meal was nice. Would order again.

Bad crack charging £1.20 for a little more gravy. No one else charges that much.

Had lunch today for my daughter's birthday. No mention of it, no little extras and I did state on booking. Good was lovely but service was a bit slow. Chips came out 10 mins after the mains. And wow if the dark haired waitress could crack a smile she would have been given a round of applause.

Risotto nice. Garlic bread with tomato cold and no flavour at all. Arrived for collection when told it was ready and had to wait 20 mins and then they still needed to check what the order was

We live locally and had taken relatives visiting the area to the Prospect this evening and were not disappointed the food and service were excellent.

Had beautiful meal at The Prospect last night (29th July). Chose the sizzler- very flavoursome. Chose the icecream sundae for dessert but was devastated to find it was only 3 dollops of icecream☹️. And it was £5.95!! What a let down.

Walked into prospect on off chance of a table and they were busy. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us family of 4. Waited 15minutes and ordered food, service was quick, food was fresh hot and spot on big portions and good quality very tasty

Food here is average, quite tasteless, added salt and pepper to my meal each visit. Pizzas loaded with rubbery cheese. Service is hit and miss, often have 3 or 4 different staff serving your table, have to catch someone to get more drinks, the bill, card machine, they always seem rushed. Decor is tired and scruffy. Smell of cigs drifting through from smoking area into dining room.
