Our church group of 11 had lunch today, 11/15. Our server was Sarah. She was very competent, attentive, and friendly. The food was hot, delicious, and fairly priced. Highly recommend it and bring an appetite!

Great food that is sooo tasty, staff is awesome, love this place!!

A special occasion brought us to Azzurri Italian Restaurant last Friday. We ordered fried ravioli's with marinara dipping sauce, lasagne, and baked ziti, all of which were delectable! We rarely eat out at restaurants, so on this occasion, we both ordered dessert (the lemon cake and a cannoli), both of which were also delectable. Our waitress was outstanding, attentive but not cloyingly so, and personable. The manager was efficient and friendly. The food was so good. The people were great. The atmosphere was only a touch loud, but that is because everyone seemed to be there on that Friday night, ordering comfort food. The place was BUSY! Nevertheless, our food was delivered quickly and piping hot! We just finished the the leftovers last night for our dinner, so the portion sizes were good value for the money. The prices were reasonable. I can't think of any negatives. Get there early!

Food is always so amazing! Mozzarella sticks, well triangles, I get every single time I order food there. Their Giuseppe sauce is one reason I always go back. Cannot get enough of this place!

Azzuri Italian Restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. I started with delicious bruschetta topped with fresh tomatoes and basil. The fettuccine alfredo was creamy and well-prepared, and the pizza had a perfect thin crust with fresh mozzarella and homemade sauce. For dessert, the light tiramisu had a wonderful coffee flavor. The service was friendly, Sara is my favorite service and the prices were reasonable. Azzuri is a great spot for authentic Italian cuisine in a cozy setting.

Liars, frauds, and thieves. I was given a gift certificate to Azzurri's last year on my birthday, which I was very thankful for. Today, I decided to use it to treat my family out to dinner there, as we'd all had a pretty rough day. However, when the meal was over and I tried to pay, I was informed that my gift certificate was no longer valid, because it was issued on a year prior to this one. I was told by the waitress that "the boss" had said it was no good, and apparently that was that. I tried to ask questions about this, but was stonewalled every time. There is no expiration date on the gift certificate? Doesn't matter, boss said no. Why was no one told this when the certificate was issued? I don't know, she said. The boss said so. Can I get a refund, then? Can we get the money back? No, of course not. The boss said so. I asked why credit can't simply be given on it. Apparently that would unbalance the numbers at the end of the night. Funny, my family giving them a lump of cash last year in exchange for the certificate didn't seem to upset their books at all. I wonder how that works. A question for the IRS. I never got to see this "boss." Even though this turned into a bit of a ruckus (I love my family dearly, and they stuck up for me), 'the boss' never deigned to come out from the back room and speak to us. So I don't know who they are. But I know what they are. A liar, a fraud, and a thief. If a restaurant isn't going to honor gift certificates, they shouldn't issue them. If a gift certificate is going to have an expiration date on it, they need to be clearly marked as such. That certificate was hand-written on a piece of paper, and while it did have an issue date, it had no expiration date. Which meant it should have been valid whether one year passed or fifty. This was a deeply embarrassing incident, and I can't express in words how grateful I am that I have as good of a family as I do. I already nearly died from embarrassment, but it could have been a lot worse if they weren't so supportive and angry on my behalf. I won't be going back to Azzurris, and neither will any member of my family. tl;dr Azzurris hands out gift certificates but refuses to honor them. That money is stolen, and their transactions in selling them are fraudulent. I can't tell you not to eat here, but you shouldn't ever bother buying a gift card or certificate from them, because they'll just keep the money and act dumb when you try to redeem it. My only regret was not demanding the waitress give me the certificate back, so I could keep it as evidence. I didn't think about it until I was already home.

Authentic Italian cuisine!! Great service!

This was a great pick for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I was seated right away and greeted warmly. The wings for an appetizer were good. They were served hot and cooked well. The garlic Parmesean sauce on the side was far for dipping! The cheesesteak was good. I would have liked a bit more mayonnaise and cheese on it, but overall, it was a good choice. The fries were hot and crispy! The personal pan pizza was a good size and could easily feed two people. That cheese pull was GOOD! sauced just right and baked to perfection!

Everything was delicious and the service was terrific we were waiting on by Sarah! Had homemade ravioli yummy salad with homemade dressing and delicious bread. I was very impressed

The best Italian restaurant in Hampton roads. If you haven't been, you are missing out, to say the least. The food is always fresh. The staff is always wonderful. The atmosphere is great for the entire family. Everyone is so personable. We go every chance we get.... and it's a drive for us. It's totally worth it every time.

Very busy, but very good service still

If you are looking for really good authentic Italian pasta and pizza come here. The food here is absolutely amazing , you can’t go wrong with coming here. The vibe is amazing, the staff is super friendly and the food is ALWAYS amazing. This place NEVER disappoints, I want to stress that. You can tell ALL the food is fresh and the garlic knots are amazing! If you have never been here you are missing out.

We went for a late lunch while visiting my stepdaughter in college This place was highly recommended since apparently was authentic Italian food. Atmosphere and decor was nice. My husband and I ordered Stromboli. His was meat lovers and my was veggies. I was so excited when the waiter brought out beautifully baked Stromboli. Imagine my surprise when I had a big bite of mine and ALL the vegetables were raw… except olives that were marinated. There were chunks of raw onions, green peppers and mushrooms.. ugh… that did not taste good at all. As I sat watching my husband eating his meat Stromboli and waiter passing by multiple times, not once we were asked if everything was ok…I didn’t wanted to make a big scene and decided to take my food and put it in the air fryer when I got home. When waiter came in with to go boxes once again not even a question why I haven’t touched my food… when I asked him if that’s a normal thing to serve Stromboli with raw vegetables inside he looked offended with me even asking and said that as I can see the food was oven baked… I lived in Italy for 10 years and never had raw vegetables on top of the pizza or inside Stromboli. As far as the service they could at least pretend to be sorry . After all I came hungry and left hungry with a box of food that needs to be cooked.

Unexpected fine cuisine in a strip mall setting. And very reasonable. I had clam linguine and husband had seafood ravioli in pink creme sauce. Just delicious!

Would be back but travel from NH This place is amazing even though we only ordered pizza which was our main goal Arrived at 5 pm and there was enough table seats but in the next 20min or so there was a line wrapped around the front lobby There were also people ordering to go The staff were very friendly The inside seemed a bit overcrowded with tables and seating Will recommend

Ordered chicken wings and chicken parmensan. The chicken wings were so salty I had to toss them out. The chicken parmesan had absolutely no flavor, I just tasted noodles. The garlic knots I felt were just sitting out because they were very hard. So dissapointed I wasted my money on this. Maybe it was an off day, but I can't see myself coming back and taking the chance to try again because of the cost.

The tortellini and blush sauce was great. The eggplant parmesan was tasty but the marinara sauce on it was flavorless and uncooked. Overall, the service was friendly and fast. The garlic knots are delicious, but could use more garlic.

Amazing place for italian loved it

Mom and I went to Azzurri today for lunch. We both had the chefs salad. It was wonderful. It had plenty of meat, cheese and bacon bits. It also had cakes, tomatoes and eggs. It was a wonderful, filling salad. The homemade garlic knots were to die for!

We ordered pizza. The atmosphere, food , and service were great! Hopefully I can try some of their other foods and entrees in the future.

Been going there for 5 years. Some of the best Italian food I have eaten. The food is great and the staff are always pleasant. Give them a try you won't go wrong. 🥂🍾🥂

Cozy interior. Delicious food. Kind staff. My favorite is the spaghetti and meatballs. Fried calamari is fresh and tasty as well. Everything I have tried so far is excellent.

I have been coming here since this place has started, it has great service, people are very nice. Staff care about and maintain focus. Food delicious, devouring, taste amazing, comes out in a few minutes if very few people are there, comes out 5-10 minutes if very busy, still hot, looks good. Has Pepsi pruducts, clean filters. Made from real Italians and not expensive. Atmosphere is very peaceful, even when busy. People are nice, and respectful. 10/10 would recommend for any body even kids can eat with varietys.

Real food, good prices, great customer service!

The atmosphere inside is lovely, the staff is a tad unfriendly, and the food is only okay. Better can be made at home, the fried zucchini tastes cheap and like it comes from a box of frozen bulk bought zucchini sticks. The pizza crust is low quality and has the flavor of instant yeast and day old dough, the ingredients on top are low quality and leave a river of grease running off the slices. The ranch was the highlight over the meal, but it isn't saying much as it's barely a step above hidden valley.

First time in the 24 years living in the area. Was told it is great and we were not disappointed

I haven't had any trouble out of them recently. They really have good food it's one of my favorite restaurants. I only had one problem a few months back last year. I stopped coming because I didn't get dressing with my salad and by the time I got home, they were closed. I had to go to the grocery store to purchase salad dressing. When I brought it the owner's attention, he didn't apologize and I told him that this one should be on the house. Instead, he gave me an extra cup of dressing. I know that I stopped coming for at least 6 months. Other than that incident, I haven't had any other problems. I forgave them for it. I still go quite a bit now.

I almost always forget to leave positive reviews after good experiences. This one stood out I just had the best meal of my life. I was having a “Ratatouille” experience with every bite of the meal. (That I chose to gatekeep). I will definitely be coming back. courteous service, cozy environment and friendly people. Would say 10/10 but 10 isn’t enough.

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is made from scratch right when you order it. It costs a little more, and you will wait a little longer to get your food, but you WILL taste the difference and you WILL ABSOLUTELY get what you pay for

They don't serve Coke. Was a very busy night, all seats full when we arrived ( prom night group 15-20 people) yet only 10 min wait. Wait time for food was reasonable. I don't go as often since they stopped carrying Coke products but their fabulous vegetarian pizza draws me back once in a while. Ask for extra crispy if you want the center area of the crust cooked.

Stumbled upon this place, and man, we will be back! The complimentary bread is fabulous, entrees come with salads, which are quite tasty, and the pasta was delicious and generously portioned— plenty left for lunch the next day. House white was good and well priced. Don’t miss out on the tiramisu!!

I have never had Italian food this good before everything tasted so fresh and the flavors were mind blowing. I love this place so much I will definitely be coming back, they were so respectful and clean and the atmosphere feels like your at home this place is a 10/10 please come and try their food!

By far the best authentic Italian cuisine I have ever had on the Peninsula! Food is authentic. The salad is so fresh I swear the must have a garden behind the building or something. Its beautiful inside and so welcoming!!! The food is amazing.

I went in for a late lunch and was seated right away. Ordered a pizza with spinach and Canadian bacon. I was disappointed that the spinach was not baked with the pizza. It was if they baked the pizza then placed spinach on top after taken out of the oven, leaving more like half-wilted, half-fresh clumps of spinach. Then the Canadian bacon was cut slices of deli ham. Pizza also needed to be cooked longer as the crust was not crisp in the center. I was expecting a bit more out of service, especially since a lot of reviews had commented on the great service. After I received my food, I didn't see the server any more. I even had to get up to get my own to-go container. And then just went to the hostess stand to pay since I still didn't see any signs of our server. Bathroom: They had two single use bathrooms. Just a standard bathroom but I didn't like the paper towel roll sitting on top of the toilet.

Delicious authentic Italian food.

I always get the chicken picatta. It's the best. The chicken is very tender, and sauce is fantastic.

The food was great. I feel bad for the sweet chef because his host and servers are terrible. We put our names on a list for a table for three and were told it would only be 10mins. No problem! However we waited over 30 mins and watched new coming people get sat immediately. When i asked the host he shrugged it off. I wanted to leave based on that but my mom insisted we stayed. The server took our order promptly but never brought us water or our bread. The chef brought us our food and missing bread… he was the best part. We were never checked on and had to ask someone else for our bill and boxes. Maybe take out is worth it to support the kitchen without the headache of the service.

Had chicken carbonara here it was really good. The garlic knots is really good. The service was amazing and the atmosphere is really nice and friendly.

The is a hidden gem. The food is very good, nice variety and reasonably priced. Eat in and get free garlic knots for the table. Pizza is NY style, crispy thin crust. Portions are generous. A new favorite.

The service was wonderful. The fried ravioli was delicious. The lasagna Bolognese was delightful. But the dessert was amazing! Tronchetto La Giuseppe is a pastry tortilla fried, and dusted in cinnamon and sugar. Filled with a cheese cake filling, little chocolate drizzle, all set in a sweeten condensed milk and cream sauce on the bottom. Was absolutely happiness on a saucer!

Azzuri is a real disappointment. My last 3 orders have been extremely late, or just plain wrong. While some of the staff are kind and professional, others are rude. The food itself is marginal. Unfortunately, my experiences lead me to no longer patronize Azzurri.

Made a reservation a few days ahead and then called the day of to shift it 15 minutes. The MANAGER never wrote down either reservation and didn't have a table for us for over an hour. It was the night of Captains Ball, we couldn't wait. The manager wasn't apologetic, didn't give us a reason why he didn't write it down, and didn't offer us any alternatives. Extremely disappointing.

Love their pizza, but was very disappointed in the bruschetta, it didn’t come as described. We were given lightly toasted sandwich bread and barely any mozzarella. The picture online should be changed.

This restaurant was highly recommended to us so we decided to try it. Our server Katerina was phenomenal. The atmosphere was charming. The food was good. When I did not care for my entree that I ordered, Katerina was quick to fix it by offering another dish. It was decently priced for an Italian restaurant. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Oh my goodness love this place. My husband and I were actually wanted to go to Byrds and try them but they were closed and I am so glad because we tried here instead. The people were very pleasant, it was clean, and oh my goodness the food was great. I had Vegetarian Cappellini and husband had Chicken Parm. Both were delicious. This will become one of our go to places. I highly recommend.

Good Italian food at reasonable prices. Live nearby & eat here often, both dine in & take out. Very small inside & service can be slow when they’re at full capacity, but worth the wait. Haven’t had a dish here that wasn’t tasty. Red sauces are a little on the sweet side. Pizzas are really good. Garlic knots are awesome.

Just had our inaugural experience at Azzurri Italian Restaurant. Kate, our server, was delightful and attentive. Tried the lasagna, and my wife had the Chicken Florentine—both superb. Tender chicken, flavorful sauce with a hint of Marianna, and the lasagna's meat sauce was spot on. Don't even get me started on the amazing garlic knots. Regret not discovering this gem sooner for some authentic Italian delights.

The food here is about as authentic as you can get in this area and without going to Italy. I highly suggest this Italian restaurant for good food and an authentic feel. I personally recommend the Tiramisu. Coming from someone who spent a year living and studying abroad in Italy, this Tiramisu is the real deal. The only thing I didn't like is the (balsamic glaze on the bruschetta and the non-use of Roma Tomatoes.) While I understand this could be a regional variation, it is my opinion that it throws off the natural flavors of the tomatoes and adds unnecessary acidity. Perfect Bruschetta is made with fresh bread, Roma Tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, salt, and pepper. After all, the beauty in Italian cuisine is simplicity.

Edit: Second time coming to Azzurri and decided to get their lasagna and boy were they kind enough to let me order late and made it look so perfect 😍 and the taste was perfect. The owner told me they use exported cheese from Italy 🇮🇹 and with a special sauce they personally make *Chefs Kiss* is what makes their lasagna different from other Italian restaurants

Popped in for a quick lunch after a CNU campus tour and what a delicious surprise! Mushroom ravioli, Pasta Azzuri, and Penne de Capri were all delectable and very reasonably priced. The service was friendly and authentic as well. Very appreciated!

I loved my experience! We arrived late but the staff were no less attentive. My meal was by far the best Shrimp Alfredo I’ve ever had. The sauce was exceptional with a hint of lemon the pasta was the perfect texture and cooked to perfection. And with all of this, the prices were very reasonable. It is rare that I want to go back to a restaurant twice in a row, but I will see them again REAL soon.

This restaurant really gets it right! The pizza is delicious! I love the crust. The sauce and cheese are very much working together to bring a satisfying bite every time. They provided excellent service and even delivered it to the nurses station for my donation Easter weekend!! You definitely need to try Azzurri Italian Restaurant when in the Newport News area.

I see many positive reviews about this place. While I didn't dine in the restaurant, I did order delivery; a large pizza and dessert. I have to be honest: the pizza was horrific. I did the "build your own" and made an assumption (whoops) that sauce was a foregone conclusion. I mean, it's pizza. I saw the sauce option and thought it meant "extra" sauce, since, you know, PIZZA. I ordered it with bacon, pepperoni, feta cheese, and mozerella. I have no idea what was delivered. It had no bacon. I believe there was pepperoni, but it was underneath a literal inch of cheese. I've never seen so much cheese on a pizza. The feta they used was either old or cheap, and didn't taste good. Finally between the inch of mozerella, the awful feta and the crust, it was so salty it couldn't be eaten. And again, no sauce. I'm just blown away that no one saw that and was like "let's give them a call and double check." The cannoli wasn't good either. The cream was lumpy. Very lumpy. Maybe someone was having a bad day. Maybe pizza isn't their speciality. Nor cannoli. But I won't be ordering again. Next time you get a pizza order that really seems like there should be sauce call the customer and double check. *** update*** The owner has reached out to me personally and is working very hard to correct the pizza and I appreciate the excellent customer service. That goes a long way.

If you want Southern Italian cooking, THIS is the place. Easily the best Italian restaurant in Newport News. Between this place and Reginello's you can get good Italian cooking in most of Hampton Roads. My only complaint was the pasta sauce was too sweet for my liking, but that is a taste preference and not a reflection on the restaurant itself. The meat sauce was the perfect consistency and the meat was perfectly cooked. I also hadn't had a meatball that good in a while. Definitely will be a repeat customer.

I went here with my son because of the 5 stars on Yelp. This place did not disappoint. From the greeting at the door to the food being served we’re all pleasant. I actually tasted the anchovies in the Caesar dressing and the pull of the cheese on the pepperoni pizza was amazing.

Very good food and friendly service

Quality here has gone down soooo much. The Alfredo is soupy and the service is less than subpar. Came in a few days ago and sat outside, and it was 15 minutes before we even got a menu. Saw other people being seated inside and waited on immediately. We were literally forgotten about. Sucks because azzurri is usually good

I was ready to give it a 5 after the house salad and garlic knots but then they brought my fettuccini. The sauce was thin/watery. The pasta was undercooked.

Mom and I at at Azzurri for lunch. She had the Eggplant Parm with Spagetti, I had the Philly Steak Stromboli! Everything was great. It wasn’t busy when we got there. As we were sitting there, people began to come in and dine for lunch as well as pick up their to go orders. Azzurri is a great place to go for authentic Italian cousine.

Our absolutely favorite Italian restaurant - we are there several times a month! Flavorful, delicious food and friendly staff. Have tried many of their menu items and specials, plus pizza and sandwiches, all very good choices.

I do not usually post reviews, but when a restaurant is simply amazing, it is hard not to tell the whole world about it! This was my boyfriend and I's first time at Azzurri, and we were not dissapointed!!! First of all, this restaurant is family owned, and the owner himself is actually from Italy. He is simply a delight and very involved with the restaurant. He is also the chef in the kitchen, which you do not see that often in restaurants. You will get true authentic italian food. Not something you get at a chain like Olive Garden or Carraba's. We were welcomed like we were apart of their own family! Our Appetizer was the Bruschetta Toscana which was so amazing! For my Entrée, I had the Lasagna Bolognese, and my boyfriend had the chicken alfredo! Both were simply so divine, that I literally had no words with how perfect and delicious it was. The chef is a true artist and is simply so skilled at what he does, that you will not regret coming here!! I am extremely picky with pasta as well, but, they knew how to get it to perfection. The decor and atmosphere is also so welcoming, much like if you were sorta to go to a Cafe in Italy mixed with a fancy flair. Our server Nathan, was also so knowledgeable about the menu and about the food that it was astounding. Service was top notch and my water was never empty. They have made regulars out of us now for sure! The prices also can't be beat. It was very fair. They even have a lunch menu which is even cheaper! If you are looking for great service, a welcoming atmosphere, great food for a decent price, then look no further, because this place is simply amazing!!
