Typical Wetherspoon pub.. beer was spot on, and a good price, food was nice and again a nice price.. used the app to order at table - everything arrived promptly.. couldn’t fault any of it

My daughter took me out for my 81st.l had the beef madras and a pint of Guinness. The service was fast and friendly and the food was hot and delicious. My daughter did experience some difficulty negotiating the doors in her wheelchair though.

Run out of eggs (Saturday 22 March 2025) so no breakfasts with eggs, despite the fact there is an Aldi across the road 🤔.

Food was good One of the better JD Wethersponces

Always has an atmosphere. Great selection of cask ales at really good prices. It's Wetherspoons so usual grub. You know what you get. No frills but solid. You can knock it but at these prices you can't knock it. A couple of screens but definitely not a sports pub.

1 st time in this pub,don't have anything 2 eat, but a great selection of beers at a good price, very clean,definitely will B going again in the near future.

It spoons, what isn't there too love. Usual hight standard of clean toilets. Feels homely, standard food, good prices.

Had breakfast here last week and couldn't be more impressed. Food was good and we all know Wetherspoons are great value but the thing that stood out over others is the impressively quick service (ordered on App and cups for coffee delivered in about a minute) and also how clean it was. They cleared our plates right away. Just all round attentive service. You could say 'well so it should be', but that often isn't the case unfortunately (especially at a Wetherspoons) so we'll done to them. I look forward to coming back and highly recommend others try them too.

I drink real ale and I love the selection on offer...... But....... They can't pour it for toffee. All the staff need to learn how to pull a proper pint. You wouldn't hire a decorator and expect them to hang wallpaper with a pritt stick. Please please please teach you staff to leave a head on the pint.

Want to say a massive shout out to the lady who assisted someone who was having a medical emergency this morning at the elk! she was so comforting towards the gentleman, provided him lots of reassurance and made sure the emergency services was called asap, I’m not sure her name but I think she was manager on duty. She deserves a reward!

I have to say we ate here today it was a year ago I enjoyed a lovely meal in this place WHAT!has happened to it every table litter with pots wastefood Cleared our own table ask staff to wipe it (politely) she asked if ihad a cloth .After explaining I don't bring one out .she continue to make light of it .salad was rubbish with stalks left on lettice complete waste of money never seen a place change so much and we were with friends .Will not be back JB

This pub is packed with children, babies some new born can't have a quiet drink any time it's like a noisy playroom not going any more.

Good luck getting a brew here in the morning, 3 coffee machines and only 1 working. 👎🏻

First time visit called in for something to eat on our way home from St Anne's....friendly staff and served quickly via the app even though it was quite busy....would certainly call again when in the area. Called in again today,(19/1/25) food and service very good... sadly not many tables had been cleared which is not very inviting.

Amazing value and hearty food - extensive menu to pick from.

Regularly meet here with friends for breakfast. Good selection of breakfast choices and vegetarian options. Pub is always warm and clean. Breakfast and endless coffee for just over £5, you can't go wrong. Car parking behind, which is a public car park, so charges do apply. Friendly staff.

There is always good food and service, and it is very clean, but there are no loo rolls in the toilet even though they are checked! All Wetherspoon pubs are large so cannot understand why not set an area off for people walking their dogs who want a drink.

You can't expect good food at spoons everyone knows that but when you ask the staff not to bin your your drinks whilst you go for smoke you don't expect them to bin them. When I complained they had an attitude and blamed me for leaving 3 full drinks unattended. Great customer service

My wife was suffering with breathing issues while we were there, the manager couldn't do enough, he showed concern and professionalism to make sure she was alright 😊

Lovely pub very well presented. Chip portion was a bit poor. Don't go to a dinner party hosted by whoever plated this, you'll leave hungry.

This Wetherspoon pub serves adequate food for a fair price. I wouldn't say it's exceptional, but does a good enough job.

Ordered 2 large breakfasts and both came without hashbrowns so told waitress who said she would sort it. While we proceed to eat the breakfest other customers food were being brought out, hashbrown after hashbrown came out yet ours still were no where to be seen. We finished our breakfest cause it took so long and decided to just leave. Poor service where you get put to the back of the queue instead of them sorting out their mistake

Everything fine as always but tonight I witnessed a lady with an assistance dog being almost manhandled out of the door and she was obviously in some state of distress. Not good

Overall this is a lovely Wetherspoons. The food is delivered fast and it is cheap what more can you ask for. A few times they have forgotten extra bits we’ve paid for on the app but is quickly corrected once we ask. Once found shell in an egg but apart from that it is a nice little pub.

Great pub, great value food. Just gets very noisy when busy

Find a table and order with the app. Trying to get served at the bar will leave you so frustrated you may end up leaving or dying of thirst. The focus is on serving food and the staff are chained to the screens pumping out the orders.

First time visit for wake, great selection of hand pulled ales, great prices, busy and friendly place, typical Wetherspoons - does what it says on tin...

Not happy, I ordered from the steak club menu, I asked for my steak to be well, done, it came to me swimming in blood,.my daughters was fine, I asked for eggs which came on a separate plate. Took it back to replace it. It came back with no eggs, by the time I got it back my daughter hD finished eating hers. The staff aren't very friendly either. If this is the standard they offer I will not be going back any time soon.

Wetherspoons with an outdoor area front and back. If you are driving, park for 3 hours free at the Teanlowe Centre a couple of minutes walk rather than the pay and display next to the pub.

Whoever served me and my nana our food today at 13.20 was so rude to us and has really upset my nana with her attitude. It was an old lady with short hair who told us what we ordered was wrong after the newbie at the bar had placed the order wrong to which it was “our fault” and she was right. We then got told we should have checked with them that what we ordered was right instead of attempting to fix anything then shouted and walked off. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Food was fine awful staff

Soup spoon dumped in soup and told I would have to fish it out. Bad attitude from staff.

Would have given better rating, but as a group of men working away just wanting a few pints and some food got asked to leave bang on 9 o'clock by the manager because one of lads had no id even though he'd already been served two pints at the bar, will not be coming back in

Busy pub in Poulton, which has re-balanced drinking in the area as the venue pre-Wetherspoons was a succession of fleeting businesses. Lots of tables and an outside area but still can be difficult at times to grab a table.

You don't go to Spoons for the food. The Koppaberg was under £3 a pint so no complaints but the food was very meh. Staff brilliant though and nice atmosphere in the outside garden.

Nice clean venue, good range of beers and lagers. Price good!

Everyone knows the Elk. Fab service, especially the table service.

What a lovely little place. Fast service. Lovely staff. We sat outside in the sun and it was lovely round the back. They have outside seating both at the front and the back. We had all day breakfast which was fantastic. We will most definitely be back. 10/10

We come to this restaurant frequently and we always arrive with high expectations and leave happy. The food is always cooked perfectly. The staff work extremely hard but they are always polite and extremely helpful and they have excellent knowledge of the menu. The management are professional and new staff are trained to a high standard. There is good staff retention and they make regulars feel welcome without alienating new faces.Tonight we have just come for a drink and a snack but yesterday myself and my husband brought our friends here to celebrate a birthday. The steaks easiy matched the taste of the high end restaurant down the road but arrived without a similar price tag. The chicken wings came as a three plate deal there were 10 pieces in all and arrived crispy & piping hot . The jacket potatoes were fluffy and hot and the salad was very fresh. We had a fruit salad to share as we had birthday cake at hom and again this was fresh and inclusive strawberrys, blueberries, banana and apple at under £50 for 5 people you just can't grumble( we don't drink alcohol but even if we had it would have been a further £10 max). We just want to say thank you not just for yesterday but for everyday. Hope that this pub continues doing what it does best!

We went for some food. I ordered the American cheese burger. I have to say that it was the worst burger I have ever had. It was the size of a happy meal burger and tasted microwaved. The texture was soggy cardboard. However, it did come with 10 chips ☹️ I should have expected it when my bill for a soft drink and 'meal' came to less than 15 pound. I hope that was a blip because if that is what you are serving all the time. It needs changing!!!

Consistently the best real ale choice in any JDs.

Staff need to watch the bar more instead of thinking they've served all. Stood there like billy no mates while they cracked on talking out of the way. But typical spoons anywhere. Get it sorted

We do go for breakfast here quite regularly, usually between 830-10am and it's very hit and miss. Oddly enough, the food is better when it's busy. Today we nipped in and were the only customers and most of the breakfast was overcooked. The service is friendly and there's always someone around if you need them.

It's as good a spoons as any, the food is just spoons, cheap with portion size getting smaller and smaller.

Standard pub food but at reasonable prices. Cury night is good value on a Thursday.

Just like any other Wetherspoons. Quick service and as expected food. Cheap and cheerful for an end of week dinner. Very busy, but managed very well by managers and staff.

Excellent venue very big inside and plenty seating outside and there is a big car park right at the back very well situated and only a 1 minute walk to the town centre

We went as a family group of 8 and we did enjoy ourselves. The food was very good service very good, only downside was 6 of us got our food together and we had almost finished before the last 2 got theirs.

Went to this weatherspoons yesterday as a cheap meal for Father’s Day with 5 other people. I’ve been to a few different Wetherspoons a lot in the past and couldn’t fault it! I received what can only be described as a child’s portion of chicken strip burger and chips. The barm was as small as a child’s barm with around 12 chips on my plate! Wouldn’t have liked to have seen the kids portion. I do get the food is cheap, but for the amount of food you would like, that was ridiculous! I ordered a garlic bread too! Which came and I could have likely frisbee’d it over the room, it was that hard. I could hardly cut it and there was likely little or no garlic used in the making of it! One of the party ordered gammon and egg and received Ham and egg. When she questionned the waitress, she literally didn’t say anything apart from make a small grunt and walked off. We didn’t know if she was sorting the food out or speaking to someone! The original food wasn’t taken away either. My Dad didn’t use his cutlery as it stank! He didn’t want to use it. I think there was literally a complaint from everyone who had food! You really need to take a look at all the complaints on food and make some changes!

We went for lunch today, been here several times before and the food has always been OK. Today it was very disappointing, very small portions, 1 of our orders was wrong , but the staff weren't very interested. I certainly won't eat here again

Poor service staff not trained enough

One of my favourite Wetherspoons. Incredibly friendly staff and food plus drinks are always prepared to a proper standard in a very efficient time window. Atmosphere is always great both outside and indoors, prices are fantastic for what you get, and I’ll always die over Wetherspoons chips. Always worth a visit for any occasion.

Only down point - we had a parking ticket . The parking is pay and display, and we missed the notices 😔 . I don't feel it was highlighted enough.
