rather disappointed on how many staff were working

This used to be a great pub restaurant. But since it changed hands is soulless totally ruined not children friendly as they say. The awards there winning must be fixed there is not that many people who use it . Whent in on a Friday around 5 pm nobody in .

Staff were very helpful (especially as we had a birthday) and the food was very good

Friendly staff, prompt tasty food, all perfectly cooked and presented. Could not fault anything.

My first time here and we really enjoyed it. Food was great as was the service. We had lunch in the dining area and then moved into the bar to watch the rugby. We stayed for about 8hrs and the time went so quickly. Staff were very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this place and can't wait to return for another delicious lunch.

Lovely food but quite expensive.

The food was terrible, substandard and overpriced. I wouldn't have minded paying for good food but it was really poor. The fish was really small and the chips were overcooked. The Yorkshire pudding was burnt, the vegetables were hard and there was half an overcooked onion and the potatoes weren't crispy. Nice place for a drink but don't eat there

It’s a 30ish min walk for us over some fields and hills so makes a perfect stop for a drink as we are exploring the area. Great atmosphere, proper country pub with excellent food choices. We attended the fireworks display which was brilliant. The lady that runs it is lovely and there are plenty of beers that seem to change regularly which is nice - they serve some local Nottingham beers.

Just for drinks but really good ales at reasonable prices. Quite small which gave nice atmosphere

Staying locally in Cotgrave. Searched in the locality and was able to get booked in. Granted a Monday night so not too busy. As a celiac I needed Gluten Free food options. No hassle there and great service. Lovely food and I’d recommend it. Enjoy.

Lovely village pub with a good range of food on a well thought out menu. Quite pricey for every week but great for treating yourself. I recommend it.

Really excellent family event organised and catered at the Plough

Braised steak was very tough, not a melting experience 😕 3 of the 4 meals spoilt.

I booked my husbands 30th birthday meal here in the function room and I highly recommend visiting. The food was amazing and the staff were lovely, warm and welcoming. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon, we will definitely be returning!

Went yesterday 11th December. It was my first time going back there in years. Walked in and thought the decor needed a bit of work doing on it. It looked a bit jaded. This wasnt the old feel of the wood work etc to the place but the paint and carpets. So was a bit hesitant about the food. But we were shown to the table and thought we ll give it a go. The dining area seemed better than my first impressions on entering. But to cut a long story short, the food was excellant and the service friendly and attentive. We had a very nice time there. So overall Im giving it a very good review and look forward to going back again.

Relaxed, cosy and comfortable pub. Made to feel very welcome (our dogs too) and nothing was too much trouble. Happy staff, good food and just a really nice pub environment.

Great British Pub Awards has awarded the The Plough, family pub of the year 2023. It has a lovely cosy atmosphere, traditional, with open fire places. The staff are very friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Enjoyed the food and did not feel rushed. The pub has expansive gardens, with a play area for the kids. Could not take advantage of this as autumn and dark. Still, this did not stop my some and friends playing rugby in the floodlights.

Second visit, nice enough food (would expect it for the price). Very friendly staff at the table and bar. Manager very personable. However, lack of condiments and portions of gravy, mint sauce, mustard etc was measly. Had a cake for a birthday surprise which took over half an hour to come and several requests. Was hurried from the table for the next booking as a result.Lovely garden area for the kids. The price for a relatively basic Sunday dinner, in my opinion, is excessive.

Hubby and I so enjoyed the tasty food, the cool breeze through the sliding doors onto the lovely garden and the cosy atmosphere. He had roast cod and I loved the roast salmon, served with posh mash wrapped in a short tube of ?seaweed (edible and so tasty) crowned with tender green beans. To top off this gastronomic delight there was a very tasty sauce. If I could have licked the plate I would have :) With a sumptuous sweet each, a half a lager shandy and a delicious iced latte the bill was a very fair £60. The total experience of Sunday lunch for 4 adults and 2 kiddies at a run of the mill Greene King the day before (no desserts) at £80 was incomparable! Thoroughly recommend and will be going again!

Had the pleasure of attending a private event at The Plough at Normanton. Children had a fantastic time with great service and a fantastic atmosphere.

Food below average little or no atmosphere and the interior is beginning to look tired....🙄

Nice location, meals and service.

Went here a few weeks ago with a group of friends for a meal and some drinks. The service was excellent, all waiting staff were friendly and helpful - our waiter was Adam and he was brilliant. Food was really good too - looking forward to returning again soon

The staff are so attentive, cannot ask for more. The fillet steaks were cooked exactly as requested and everything was simply sublime.

What a little gem of a pub in the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside. First time here as it’s been on my radar for a while. We were just going to pop in for a pint but the menu was just what we were after - steak night on a Thursday ! Amazing service and great food and beer. Love it!

Stopped at Plough for sandwich and pint lunch and wasn't disappointed. Had intended using garden (accompanied by 2 dogs) but bit cool. Dogs allowed in 'Drinking' side of bar. Sandwiches great, good bread, plenty filling. Hope to get back on a sunny day and sit in garden.

Very attentive and friendly staff. Looked after our family and my dog with humour and efficiently. Well worth the 125 miles trip to get there.

Absolutely delicious meal. The shin of beef with gnocchi was divine, the depth of flavour in the gravy was superb and the custard tart was extra special-unique and so tasty! Friendly hospitable service and lovely relaxed gastro pub setting. Honestly as good as food I've had in Michelin starred restaurants.

The food was exceptional for a pub, the service was amazing. It's been a long time since we have been treated so well and attentively by staff. If you are in the area I would go here.

Had an evening meal. I had the Halloumi burger which was tasty, could have done with a bit of coleslaw. The staff were nice.

The pub has changed hands since my last review. Maybe expectations were a bit high. The starter was excellent. Main course, the Beef Sunday Roast less so. Under cooked vegetables, watery insipid gravy, cardboard Yorkshire Pudding. Service was disjointed. We ran into the pub quiz crowd, who muttered about us "sitting at their reserved tables," and we felt rushed to finish and leave. It's either a bar or a restaurant, you choose 🤔

Food, price, service all very good, ate too much, encouraged by the "barking mad" owner!! It is impossible not to go back there again.

We gave it another chance on Saturday night after two disappointing meals , I wish we hadn't, the soup had to be sent back nearly cold it was knocked off the bill , the chips where only just warm enough to eat , very slow service very overpriced for what we had

Top class lunch! Just returned from one of the best lunches I’ve ever had. Great venue and fantastic value for money, food was well presented and tasted amazing. What we had .. Starters ⭐ Roast Parsnip Soup ⭐ Roast Scallops ⭐ Pressed Terrine of Roast Chicken & Black Pudding Remoulade Main ⭐ Braised Beef ⭐ Chargrilled Sirloin Steak with Truffle & Parmesan Fries ⭐ Chargrilled Bavette Steak Clean plates all round 😀 This is the sort of environment everyone should try to create in terms of what fabulous service and experience should be. I can’t wait to return again. FINAL WORD. Part of the Secret Pub Company who also own The Radcliffe and The Railway - both excellent and worth a visit.

I came here for the Sunday roast, and they do a brilliant savory bread pudding as the veggie option which is fantastic. Slightly annoying that they don't have any idea on the calories in their meals, especially as there are a few of the companies locally. There is also a contrast in the staff, the first lady who served us was so friendly, very over enthusiastic and the other lady didn't speak at all. Overall it was a great experience though, and I will return.

A fantastic evening for 40 of us at the Plough last night. Super food, excellent beer and Becky, Sam and the team were soo helpful and ever smiley - nothing was too much trouble. Thanks also to Mark the owner for his most generous donations to our raffle for our charity 'Teddies for loving Care' - providing special teddies to children in hospital suffering trauma. With the help of the customers in the bar we raised £218 and every single penny will go directly to the charity as we have no overheads. We highly recommend the Plough and we shall return.

We visited with friends for a wake following the passing of a good friend. The place was clean. The welcome warm and respectful. They laid out a good buffet. As the time passed the bar area filled with lunchtime customers who appeared to be locals and enjoyed the atmosphere of this pleasant pub. We regularly pass this area so a slight diversion off route may well be taken.

Very polite and welcoming staff. Had lunch 2 courses. The food is of good bistro standard. Fish cookery was perfect burger looked tasty. Price was as expected 17 20 main course.

We found this lovely place just off the A46 on our way to Lincoln. It was busy but all the staff were very friendly and managed to look after us despite not booking. Our order arrived quickly and was hot, well presented and so tasty. A great place and we will definitely call in again
