Lovely gastropub in an affluent village. On our visit on a busy Saturday night the service was delightful, and the food mostly excellent. The posh cheesy chips (with parmesan and truffle) were amazing, as was the cod and the chicken liver. The mushroom risotto was a little tasteless, but we had a great time overall.

Had lunch here on two occasions and the waitress & chef were happy to accommodate items not on the menu which was really appreciated. The food is decent, slightly on the high side of price for me (£25 for a steak) but the atmosphere, staff, food and drinks are all very good.

I really like this pub so feel a bit bad only giving 3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ but the food lets it down. Quite expensive for what you get in terms of quality and taste. £21.50 for the beef seems steep with Perkins right around the corner, and Bread and Lard Island in Ladybay, which both serve one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had at a comparable price. If this wasn’t a chain I wouldn’t be so harsh however I feel that profit has become more of a priority than quality.

Won't be in a rush to head back. The place had been recommended by a friend but I'm not sure what the hype is about. The table we were sat at seemed to be away from the rest of the diners and right next to the kitchen door. The windows need a really good clean as they had food bits all over them. The menu shown online for Sunday lunch wasn't what they were actually serving this week, which was annoying. The Sunday lunches we ordered were okay but for the price, we would have expected nicer and have had much better at other restaurants. We asked for the dessert menu, but once we got the menu, no one came to take our order for about 20 mins and that was only because we asked someone. Not a terrible experience, but we've definitely had nicer meals, in nicer looking restaurants for less money too.

Visited The Plough with friends for a meal and quiz night. The food quality was excellent, the staff (especially the bubbly landlady) were friendly and efficient and, to top it all we won £90 in one of the pub games. That this remote pub was packed with customers reflects that it's a very good option for a good evening out.

Staff were friendly and as tentative as I would expect from a "garden pub" seated outside. The food wasn't bad, although the burger buns weren't brioche as stated and were sesame seed and slightly stale, but not too bad. The outside table we were seated at didn't have a weight for the umbrella to hold in place and whenever the wind blew the pole would slide down at an angle and almost knock us out on a few occasions. We would definitely go back as its still a decent place to go eat and chill.

Had a private party upstairs in the function room. Nice room for a small group of people (30-36) to get together. Easy to decorate for a party and have a buffet. Has an adjoining roof terrace with stairs to the carpark behind. Food was lovely, especially the thick, fat chips. Vegetarian options available. Staff was very friendly, in particular Becky, whose enthusiasm was brilliant. Possible parking on small carpark (4-5 places) behind The Plough or on the street. Huge beer garden with picnic tables and play area for kids. Looked fun. Sanitary area small and old.

Second visit to the Plough. The first was for lunch. Another warm welcome from the team that always helps. This this time we were with friends and had come for an evening meal. The menu is simple, but I think it has great variety plates to tempt you. The food is really nice and tasty. All of us loved our choices. It is a measure of how much we enjoyed the food as we all had three courses. Washed down with fine selection of drinks. My wife's a celiac so requires gluten-free options of which there were several. The staff were really helpful and friendly and made for another lovely experience so many thanks to them, it's a good team. The pub is very nice, with a large child friendly garden out the back. We'll certainly be back. The pub is located in a lovely village and as such parking is predominantly on the lane outside, but is not a problem, just to be aware.

Attended a suprise birthday party and due to the amazing weather on the day, they put our party in the pergola outside. It was fabulous! We ended up staying your entire day, feeding our little one for tea aswell, before heading home. The staff were attentive, the food was exceptional. Drinks a bit expensive, but not unexpected. Outdoors the beer garden and the little play area for kids was absolutely perfect! The young children in our party had the BEST time! Parking wasn't great, but can't have everything!

It's such a shame but I am always disappointed with the service. The young person at the bar was doing drinks for those that ate and when I asked for a drink who was working there, said yes and went on to pick up drinks from bar and left me. My daughter had to ask twice for her drink in the garden. I will not be having my 70th birthday there. I've experienced this before at the plough at normanton.

We’ve been going to the Plough for years and went recently for Saturday lunch. We sat in the garden area. While the staff were fantastic, the food was less so. In terms of quality, it was good, however I would say too fine dining for a a garden. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad at £16. I hoped for a classic large salad with chicken and the dressing, however it was served as a piece of chicken with a small side salad. Lovely, but really not a classic Caesar and certainly not £16 worth. Disappointing.

Went yesterday 11th December. It was my first time going back there in years. Walked in and thought the decor needed a bit of work doing on it. It looked a bit jaded. This wasnt the old feel of the wood work etc to the place but the paint and carpets. So was a bit hesitant about the food. But we were shown to the table and thought we ll give it a go. The dining area seemed better than my first impressions on entering. But to cut a long story short, the food was excellant and the service friendly and attentive. We had a very nice time there. Great British Pub Awards has awarded the The Plough, family pub of the year 2023. It has a lovely cosy atmosphere, traditional, with open fire places. The staff are very friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Enjoyed the food and did not feel rushed. The pub has expansive gardens, with a play area for the kids. Could not take advantage of this as autumn and dark. Still, this did not stop my some and friends playing rugby in the floodlights.

However, lack of condiments and portions of gravy, mint sauce, mustard etc was measly. Had a cake for a birthday surprise which took over half an hour to come and several requests. Hubby and I so enjoyed the tasty food, the cool breeze through the sliding doors onto the lovely garden and the cosy atmosphere. He had roast cod and I loved the roast salmon, served with posh mash wrapped in a short tube of ?seaweed (edible and so tasty) crowned with tender green beans. To top off this gastronomic delight there was a very tasty sauce. If I could have licked the plate I would have :) With a sumptuous sweet each, a half a lager shandy and a delicious iced latte the bill was a very fair £60. The total experience of Sunday lunch for 4 adults and 2 kiddies at a run of the mill Greene King the day before (no desserts) at £80 was incomparable! Thoroughly recommend and will be going again!
