The Plough in Waveney

Found this lovely little place while on holiday at Hopton. A great find, amazing food and great prices. The service was equally as incredible. Thank you ladies for such a lovely afternoon meal. We will definitely be back next time we are up this way.

We were at the Plough last night and my sister had a hypo so we had to ask for an orange juice and our food to be served quick. The lovely waitress helped us out with this so we are very grateful. The staff were attentive all night, the food was lovely as was the atmosphere. Being a group of 7 it was lovely to have an oval table so we could all talk to each other. All in all we had a lovely time. Thank you to all concerned.would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Sunday roast was amazing and very reasonably priced. Yorkshire pudding was huge, roast beef tender and vegetables just right. Had the homemade Apple crumble with ice cream. Will definitely return.

Lovely place we only stopped for a drink but service and facilities were good.

What a brilliant little gem and one knows it is by the fact that the locals love it. Seating inside, outside under cover or in the garden. Pool table for those looking to knock some balls around 😉 The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. If you are seated outside, no tab available. The garden area is really lovely, well maintained and each table has an umbrella. Dog friendly is always a bonus. So glad we visited and recommend all to visit.

Great homemade pie, lovely food and people, would return when in the area.

My husband and I visited this pub tonight for dinner. The food was absolutely amazing, portions are very generous, dishes tasted home made, were well presented and hot. The staff are very friendly and attentive and we can't fault anything! It's situated in a beautiful village too. We will certainly return again.

Just back from having an absolutely wonderful meal. There was a party of 9 of us and the food and service was brilliant. So pleased we booked. We would all definitely recommend a visit. A big thanks to all the staff fir making it so enjoyable.

Very nice food in the restaurant and bar. Plenty of room and many real ales. Not the cheapest but Plenty of atmosphere. Also biker friendly.

Traditional pub that has moved away from a traditional menu so was let down by the food. Lovely service, shame the fire wasn’t on as it was a cold damp day.

Good specials which change all the time.

Very nice village pub with a good menu and pleasant locals, wished I had a pub like this where I live.

Visited the classic motorcycle show, which was well organised there were lots of lovely bikes on show. The Plough is a well-kept pub with lots of outside seats and tables the staff were friendly and helpful, they were cooking burgers and sausages on the barbecue and serving tea and coffee too which I prefer to a beer when on the bike.

Friendly staff, large range of ales and good entertainment

I had the Plough Burger. I thought the burger could have been of better quality as stated as a steak burger. The others in our party enjoyed their Sunday roasts and prawn Cocktail.

Called in to this delightful pub for a drink by the cosy open fire yesterday and we were not disappointed. Very friendly landlady and a great pint. The place is immaculate. Beautifully painted outside, wonderful old beamed interior and spotless toilets. Didn't eat as it was early but would think the food is great.

Nice friendly pub but random opening. Showing as open now, but walked past after a long walk and it was closed. 2.50pm Tuesday 11 Oct 22. Website is incorrect. Very disappointed.

Nice pub with great food and several ales (nearly all bitters). And ageing reminiscing (and good humoured) locals in the bar where we were seated! Good service. Good value. Good choice (Sunday lunch).

One of the few 'proper pubs' around. It's an absolute pleasure from the time you pull up in the car park, go into this historic public house, be greeted by the lovely staff then have a proper selection of beers, wines and spirits to choose from. Enjoy a meal from the excellent menu where the meals are plentiful and sensibly priced. There is ample seating outside with a beautiful view. Enjoy.

I ate here on a Wednesday night and it was so good i came back on the Thursday. Fantastic home cooked food at a very decent price and huge portions. The staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful.

We arrived on a Monday, advertised as open on website plus all the boards outside showed open but it was closed! No one around to answer the door. Ridiculous to show opening hours outside but be closed. Beware!

The girl who served us went above and beyond. Even sorted us out with taxi arrangements. Food and service was excellent 👍🏻

A well kept suffolk pub great food and a friendly staff

Popped in for lunch. Hubby had a prawn and crayfish sandwich and chips. I was hungry but really fancied two of the starters so that's what I had. Mushroom and stilton bruschetta and katsu chicken strips and a portion of chips. Bloomin Delicious. Nice glass of house wine (or two) and a decent pot of tea for the chauffeur. Very friendly helpful staff happy to chat. Saw the chicken supreme and fish and chips going out to another table. All looked very good. We will definitely be going back.

Went there just before lunchtime for a wake they a lovely spread. Staff are lovely and the pub is very clean with lots of history. I drank the real ales which tasted great and you can tell the ale and the lines are well cared for.

Lovely food here,very fast service. Was running late.. booked last minute and they were lovely enough to leave the kitchen open until get got there & ordered what we wanted. Lovely staff,they can't do enough for you .. Been a few times now. I do recommend !!

They catered for a wedding anniversary party and childrens party at the same time very efficiently with limited staff. Great experience.

Gorgeous little hidden gem with a fascinating little history. We booked last minute as a table of 14, it was no bother and they were fantastic. Food was all home made and beautiful. Recommend, recommend, recommend. Thank you to lisa and the girls who looked after us!

Just been out to dinner first time in the Plough absolutely disgusted at the prices and portions of food. Had Beef topside which was tough as old boots . 4 carrots 2 roast 1 Yorkshire potatoes and cabbage. Gravy like water . Wont be coming back. Ice cream £2.50 for a tiny little scoop 👎

Food was delicious, but being a bank holiday weekend and nice weather the wait was longer than you'd usually expect. Staff were decent and attentive despite being rushed off their feet. Covid restrictions Diy help either. Overall a decent pub with good beer and food!

Just passing by and saw Lunch Board outside. So disappointed that Fish ..did just mean Fried Fish 'n Chips !! My error.. Was kindly offered option of Grilled . Great location/ outside seating and many Ales. Would love to return

Excellent service, I'd left a message on their phone, they called me back, made a booking, great. Really good food, and good social distancing etc. Still had a welcoming atmosphere and dog friendly. Also a good sized car park.

Lovely friendly staff and reasonably fast service, however, I feel like the food would have been brilliant if it was hot. Came out with cold gravy, cold vegetables and warm but roast (veggie option). Asked for it to be reheated and still came out warm which didn't quite justify all the flavours. Lovely place but could have just worked on that aspect in my experience.

Lovely place with that bit of history to it, plenty of outdoor seating amongst apple trees. Food was tasty and fresh, and a good choice. Beer was a little dearer than other pins visited.

Maybe my favourite food in Suffolk my love for this place ! Especially in winter when that fire lit

We visit this pub several times a year while on holiday in the area and the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food is always lovely and there is a nice choice of drinks on offer, we always look forward to coming back, this is a pub worth a visit any time of the year.
