Historic 1930s art deco cinema recently given new life with a major refurbishment, screening classic films and sporting events upstairs. The lower floors contain popular bars and eatery. The cinema is one of the last remaining 1930s screens operating in Northern Ireland. A spacious auditorium with comfortable modern seating, and several heritage rows of vintage seats (which I tend to frequent, as they're closer to the screen). It's a real hidden gem, and it's worth signing up to their social media channels to be kept up to speed with events.

The venue is warm and cosy. The seating is well laid out. The seats themselves could be a bit bigger, but going to watch older films it takes me back to how a cinema should be. I'm not lying in something that resembles a single bed, lol. It is the only licensed cinema in Northern Ireland. I think.🤔

We were recommended this place by a friend who said we would get really good pub grub. After having had a couple of meals over the weekend in two of the Ramore restaurants which were disappointing we were keen to try something different and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious clean plates all round and very reasonably priced. We will definitely return. Thanks for a lovely evening.

We visited here as a group of friends and found the service we received friendly and efficient. The venue did look as though it could be doing with some investment as the decor was tired and worn, however we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would like to compliment the chef on some well cooked home made chips which were very tasty indeed.

The interior was drab and dirty looking. especially up stairs, which was a bad start, we should have walked back out.We ordered our meal from a page which had seen better days, menu had a good enough selection. When our food came it was like swimming in sauce in a bowl, so of course the garlic bread was sodden. The bowl was cold , and our food was cold. Looking round the room we could see that the place was very dirty, the carpet was filthy , and the dumb waiter (lift for the dirty dishes) was absolutely disgusting.Would not recommend this " restaurant " to anyone.

Recently had a visit to Portrush and after visiting the playhouse last time I was in town I was keen to go again. The first visit I sat in the suckerfish bar part of the venue to have a few pints watch the match and have a bite to eat. The atmosphere and service was great as was the food on this occasion. This time I went into the main restaurant part which is advertised as an "american diner". Although the menu might have reflected this the decor certainly didn't and I think it doesn't quite know its identity. The food we ordered wasn't great on this occasion and I found for the price it wasn't good value for money. I'm hoping it might have been a one off and next time i'm in town if I visit it will have improved because it is a good venue I just felt the food let it down a bit.

I've been there before for other nights but hadn't ate there. The kids had meals of the kids menu (burger and chips and hot dog and chips) at £3.95. Very good serving which I was surprised they finished, I had the blackened chicken and fries which I just about finished and the wife had the chicken Philly sub and fries which she also struggled to finished. Both of us agreed that the food was really tasty. All in all it cost about £22.I'd recommended calling in if you are in the Port.

Four beers and six cokes - all for around £80.Food and service were top class - decor and interior is a bit weird - resembles a nightclub more than a restauraunt.Starters f ribs, nachos, wings, loaded wedges - all shared between th five of us and all top quality especiall the nachos which tasted home made rather than the usual packet variety you tend to get. Pizzas and steaks for mains were really nice - garlic fried potatoes for side order were excellent.Staff were really good and we even got a complimentary kahlua in a chocolae cup - nice touch.

Totally renaged on their groupon commitment, blaming groupon when it was themselves to blame for miscommunication.manager unable to help as 'away at Rhianna concert' in Dublin. We arrived, after driving over 80 miles for lunch as it said it was open from midday - 9pm Friday, Sat and Sunday., Had made reservation the day before for 1pm. On arrival on 1pm, starving, we were told kitchen closed until 5pm and no food available until then. Over a fag on the street outside, the assistant manager insisted groupon was to blame. We headed to 55 North instead. Would highly recommend.

Prior to a recent short break in Portruch I bought a couple of vouchers on-line for a deal in a this restaurant that seemed to good to miss. I wasn't expected too much for the price but thought we could go too far wrong for a cheap eat, even if the food wasn't great. When we arrived at the entrance of this old cinema in Portrush's main street I was slightly concerned that we had done the wrong thing as there was a slight air of seediness exuding from this old style building. Nonetheless we went inside and were very releived to be shown to a table upstairs by the window. The bar has a good cocktail list so we ordered 2 while checking out the menu. This unfortunately was a slight mistake as we waiting almost 20 mins for our drinks in which time we had read the menu cover to cover 10 time and were dying of thirst! The food is farily standard pub fayre (steak, battered fish, scampi, chicken, wraps, burgers, pizzas etc) but everything we saw coming out was well presented and looked appetising. Unfortunately, none of the starter really took our fancy so we decided to to order a portion of onion rings to nibble on before the mains and I must say these were the best onion rings I have had in a very long time - crisp, cooked to perfection and very tasty. This gave us hope that the main courses would also be OK and we were not disappointed - my beer battered fish with peas was generous and delicious as was my partners rump steak and pepper sauce - both to cooked to perfection and came with a free side order. Even without our discount it would have been a steal!Coffee and desserts however do not seem to be their strong point - the lemon mirangue pie was just OK and coffee pretty tasteless but did not spoil our meal in any way.Overall, I would say give this place a go if you are looking for an uncomplicated tasty meal. Atmosphere is not amazing for a romantic meal, but definetely would suit families and groups, particularly if you are going to see a show in the Playhouse afterwards.

Probably it is the only place in Portrush with new interior (no for a boring Irish pub!), interesting menu, nice people around and atmosphere. I am an international student here and honestly it is the only place in Portrush where I want back again and again. I like cinema the most, but sure that club after reconstruction will be great as well. Can't wait!!! The best thing what Portrush Playhouse has is a whole complex -bar, restaurant, cinema, theater - and different events for different people in each venue.Dinner on Valentines day was tasty. My boyfriend is italian and said the same. That is a very good evaluation to the cook!

myself and family were up in the area for the airshow also, we decided to try the playhouse after years before visiting the cinema many times. we were met by friendly staff and offered a tour around the building after we had eaten.Beautiful inside and did not expect the place to be as large inside. large varied menu with plenty to offer even the fussiest eater like myself.Clearly the staff were very busy, with it being one of the busiest weekends of the year, but were very helpful and polite.we had a 30minute wait on our food, which can be expected if you choose to eat anywhere within portrush on a weekend like that, might i add that locals (ballymoney reviewer) should be well aware of this fact. The food was definately worth the wait. children enjoyed theirs and were given crayons and paper to occupy them till they recieved their food.all in all it was a lovely experience and we would definately return again.

After visiting the Airshow in Portrush for the first time on September 5th 2010, it was decided to have a meal before the final finale of the show at 5pm, after trying three other resturants for food in close proximity they were all closed until 5pm!! (wake up Portrush traders and cater for the tourists when they are visting!!!) thus it was decided to try the Balcony resturant in the Playhouse, there was no problem obtaining a table for 2, and we were seated quickly, after ordering drinks we waited for another 40 mins when i noticed the distinct silence of knives and forks rattling and fellow patrons becoming more aggetiated at the evident lack of service, when i decided to ask the waitress if there was a problem with the food, i was rather cheekily told "they were serving food over three Floors", that may well be the case and was clear to be seen as the waiting staff spent walking most of their time walking aimlessly up and down the main stairs. The Balcony resturant was half full at the time we ordered, the service was half hearted and why take an order for food from my table and other tables when it was apparently clear they could not provide a decent service.

We had the tapas from the menu and it was nice to try something different from a traditional menu that you can also choose from. The waitress said they are the only ones in that area that serve tapas. We stayed for drinks and sat out on their large balcony enjoying the good weather - this is a jewel in portrush's crown it has great food, good wine list also a cinema and club. My wife and I loved the food and will come again and bring our teenage boys for the club. Nicely decorated clean, friendly a must for everyone
