The Pheasant in Bedford

The Pheasant, Not So Pleasant - Just been to The Pheasant in Bedford and honestly, I’m disappointed. I ordered a pint of Estrella and it was, without a doubt, the worst one I’ve ever had. Completely flat — no life, no fizz, no satisfaction. It tasted like it had been sitting in the lines for days. For a place that seems to pride itself on its pub atmosphere, you’d expect them to serve a proper pint. Won’t be rushing back any time soon, especially not for a drink.

Visited the Pheasant on a lovely sunny day, food was very enjoyable and a great selection of choices. I like that they do fries and chips. The kids menu is very good with a variety for children to select from and I always like a mix and match option. My daughter with ARFID selected pasta and enjoyed it, which she rarely manages when we attempt to eat out. Everything was clean and the decoration is lovely so on a lovely sunny day a really nice place to enjoy a family meal or drink in the sunshine. Although the pub is close to the roundabout you don't notice it at all and just has a lovely ambiance. All the staff were very welcoming, Food was made very quickly. Also very easy to get around with a wheelchair. Next time we are there we think we'll try the carvery on a Sunday. The dining room is very well air-conditioned and is great for staying cool on a hot day.

This was the second annual visit from 2 “oldies” from Leeds, meeting up with 6 nephew/nieces, their parents & 6 children. We had a good area to sit in & everyone enjoyed the meal (mains preordered) & drinks accompanying. Thanks to Karen (manager) for a carefree event. See you in 2026. Stuart

First visit last weekend, really enjoyed it. Good choice in drinks, friendly and efficient service, plenty of parking, nice garden area. Look forward to our next visit. Food looks good too, will be trying in the future.

Came with 6 others thurs last at 1pm. Pub was busy and staff absolutely wonderful. Menu very impressive, why? Because food delicious fresh and fantastic value for money. 3 course set menu brilliant. Coming back soon. Chairs are ancient and really rock hard...everything else perfect... everyone at lunch loved their choices. Thanks

Lovely Sunday lunch for 4, one toddler and a baby. Servings are very generous and the roasts were great quality with all the trimmings! The cauliflower cheese was a tasty addition. Nice space for our toddler to roam too.

The Pheasant is our local pub and we decided to try their new breakfast menu - it was delicious! Really good value and cooked just how we like it (crispy bacon and delicious sausages!) Lovely morning in the sun with good food

Took my mum on Mother's day.I booked quite late no releasing most restaurants were booked up. When we first arrived we received a warm welcome by a lovely lady. (Manager or owner). We ordered foods and drinks. The food was nice and tasty. I ordered plant based Wellington for my main and Chicken roast for my mum. The service was prompt. All served were pleasant and kind.. we were Able to stay past out 5.15 booking which gave us time to relax and take our time. All in all a very pleasant experience I will definitely be returning. When we were leaving the lovely lady again made us feel welcome. My mother had a nice Mother's day experience.

Went to The Pheasant Pub today for Mother’s Day and would definitely recommend. Lots of parking, outside area was lovely and well kept. We managed to get a booking over the phone last minute and they were very accommodating. They are dog friendly too and we got an inside table. Even though it was a set menu, there was plenty of options available for us and for our mum who is vegetarian (something that we struggled with trying to find with other pubs’ Mother’s Day set menu’s). They gave our mum a complimentary glass of Prosecco and had treats and water for the dog too. Food was great and came quickly. It was very reasonably priced for a 2 course meal and all the staff were very friendly and provided great service. Even though it was busy for Mother’s Day the staff remained lovely and so I would recommend!

Really lovely pub and restaurant, been here a few times as it's local and has a good atmosphere. We enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day dinner at The Pheasant, the food was lovely, very kid-friendly and the lady who took our order and served us was really accommodating.

We held a wake at the pheasant on Thursday. We can’t thank the team enough. Their attention to detail with our decorations, opening early to accommodate an early service and the buffet food was perfect. To top things off, the sun was shining and we could open up the doors into the courtyard. Thank-you for helping us in create a great send off for my father-in law.

Great food and service. Friendly welcome. Burger Monday is 2 for 1 so that was a nice surprise. Vegan chicken burger was a pleasant change. I didn't book a table but got lucky as it was popular.

Veg. Lasagne x 2 was very small- suspect ‘small plate’ brought in errror, but assured was not a mistake.

We visited the pub for lunch and enjoyed a warm and friendly reception, delicious food & beer. Also reserved the pub for a family celebration recently and cannot thank Karen and company enough for looking after us so well and providing such a delicious buffet.

I held.my a wake at the Pheasant. The buffet was excellent and plenty of it. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Amazing customer service. The atmosphere is so calm and friendly.

We went for a family meal 17 of us on 30 th December . Had the most excellent service and we pre ordered to make things easier on the starters and mains. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff who were so engaging and helpful. The land lady Karen was so attentive, double checking everyone’s requests and even brought out a fab game for the teens to play which went down a treat! Food was spot on and perfectly cooked . Highly recommend ! Many thanks to the team at the pheasant x

We have had Christmas day lunch for 5 adults & 2 small children today .From the moment we arrived everything was just perfect. The table was tastefully decorated,the food was extremely good with great portions, the vegetarian option was fantastic. We were so full we were unable to finish the cheese course so the staff kindly plated it up for us to take home! Karen & her team were helpful,attentative and faultless from start to finish! Thank you for an amazing day .

I recently visited The Pheasant for a work Christmas lunch and was so impressed by the staff, service and food. The staff were friendly and accommodating - helping each member of our party find our table and checking in to see when we were ready for each course to come out. They also took some photos for us and helped us to discreetly drop off our ‘secret Santa’ gifts! The food was lovely and the festive menu was great value for money for 3 courses. Thanks for a lovely meal, we all really enjoyed our visit. :)

We had the best Christmas Party for our team last night - 24 happy people - food was delicious, generous portions, veg perfectly cooked and super tasty! Staff were so efficient and friendly. The whole place was so festive and twinkly - the perfect treat for the team at Bedfordshire Open Door! Thank you - we will be back again next year as you are simply the best! Xx

23 of us, some with disabilities, wheelchairs etc. Felt very welcome, staff were wonderful and attentive. Food was great. All in all, a great experience and will be back next year.

Festive Menu with our Mum on her 91st birthday Staff were great and were very accommodating.

I was welcomed with smiles and treated with a hello and within five mins the bar staff had made me laugh and feel comfortable the service was great and the food very nice the only thing I was a little disappointed was the food was not as hot as I would like it and the Brussels were under cooked this has not put me off and I enjoyed my evening thank you

Ate here last Saturday lunchtime and we were very pleased with our meals. Nicely cooked and reasonably priced. Staff friendly.

Been here a few times and staff always friendly and food is good. Lisa and her colleague on 14th November were lovely! On this occasion had the lunch and a drink deal - BLT & cheese & onion chutney and were delicious. Have also had burgers here previously and halloumi fries, all delicious. Quick service and good prices. Will return.

If you are looking for a good pub meal at a fair price, with pleasant and helpful staff, then I recommend The Pheasant as a good place to visit.

We recently held a family event and we can't thank the Phesant enough for the great day. Karen was so helpful and the food was amazing. We asked for a buffet and all the food was fresh and very tasty. We couldn't have asked for any more. The staff were friendly and the venue was very comfortable and cosy. We will be going back again!

Great looking pub after a major refurbishment a few years back. Plentiful parking and a lovely covered outdoor area.

Excellent local. Great beers, lovely beer garden, chilled friendly atmosphere. The Monday 2-4-1 burger offer is worth it!

Pretty cool actually the staff are helpful and kind and they have tasty food... the only problem is the atmosphere... in some rooms it is a little dark. It's a fun day out w friends or family, though.

The service was good and polite. We had 2 adults Sunday lunches and 2 kids Sunday lunches ..they had gravy poured over them before they were served to us... (I'd have preferred the gravy on the side.)..this meant that the grandkids couldn't pick up their Yorkshire's to eat them. The beef was a little dry and thickly cut. I had the special with three meats. The slice of pork was delicious. Everyone had good portion sizes. The toilets were in need of a bit of tlc. We arrived for our reserved table (noon) at 11.55 but the pub wasn't actually open yet.so we sat outside in the nicely done garden...it has a covered area too.

The Pheasant reliably turns out good, tasty pub food along with a good selection of beers and 0% beers. The lunch time sandwich and a drink special is excellent value for money.

I really like this place. The renovation is lovely, the food is decent, but mostly it’s the team here who make it. They appear to have a really good rapport with each other and the ‘locals’ which makes for a welcoming atmosphere. They make an effort to make a special occasion ‘special’ which is always appreciated.

Warm welcome as you enter the bar. Friendly staff. Typical pub food. The 'Hit Chick' burger was very nice. Good range of beers.

Always been a nice local pub. Maybe they didn't like the look of me but staff need some training in hospitality. I was given a glass to pour my own drink. My money is as good as anyone elses. Food was okay, nice Roast dinner.

Haven't tried the food from here yet but it was nice sitting out in the garden. I like the newer look but I remember there being a play area before, would of been nice if they kept that or had something similar still.

Been a few times to the pheasant as it’s our local but the food is on the slightly more expensive side for the portion side and quality. Staff are very pleasant and seem happy which is nice.

Great food with friendly atmosphere. They have outdoor seating where some of the seats are undercover with heaters. We had the burgers, onion rings and jalapeño poppers. Great flavour and perfect crisp. Plenty of parking too.

Big shout out to Lou! (Tall girl with glasses and a welcoming friendly smile) She looked after my family and I. Made great recommendations on the menu. Enjoyed my hot chicken burger and the starters- specifically the wings, mozzarella and halloumi bites were good. Chicken and mushroom pie was a 3.5/5. Lacked the creaminess and flavour but overall good. I will come back again and probably join in for other games during the Euros.
