Good place to go for fish and chips highly recommend

Fantastic chippy. There is no other choice for the Tewkesbury area it is the best chippy and the cheesecakes are amazing as is the food. The owners are lovely and I deeply miss not working for them or eating their incredible food.

Best fish and chip shop in Tewkesbury

I bought a large portion of chips. There didn't seem much there so I asked if it was a large portion. The answer was yes though the portion size looked to me to be barely even a normal sized portion. It's only potatoe why such a rip off? In future it's a different chippy.

Visited here during our holiday in the area looking forward to fish and chip Friday dinner. Arrived to find signs plastered everywhere saying cash only that was not advertised online anywhere. Its 2024 and we dont carry cash or even cards. I realised they had an “app” which clearly stated order online with fast and secure payment. After completing the order and trying to checkout it offered only cash as a payment method which was again misleading and a waste of time meaning no food for us. What terrible service and false advertising.

Terrible place as despite not advertising this online decided its cash only. Tried online as it said you could pay by ordering via the “app” but still forced cash only after allowing to complete the order. Terrible for 2024

Not impressed with the food we ordered on line my wrap looked every thing just been chucked in it and the chips were cold inside and my partner kebab and chips were very greasy not impressed at alll

Lovley fish and chips served very quickly the staff chatted to us while we waited, very good choices on the menu and very good value for the money. Would definitely recomend it, very clean shop pleasure to go there.

Food gone down hill, staff slow

Unfortunately it seems the customer focus has been/is being lost at the Pearl of Northway. Upon walking in the door was called rude by one of the owners (Sam, as she kept reminding me after I put the wrong name on the previous google review, don’t worry, I’ve now updated it to the right name). I will attach the previous review as an image, so you can judge if you think I was rude on it. I was told I should have just went to collect the order when it was late, even though I didn’t even know if it was ready as nobody was answering the phone. I was also told I should be supporting local businesses, after having used them for several years, I feel I have supported local business. I feel that my previous review was left to provide some feedback on something that could have been done better, specifically in the way I had outlined what the problem was and then explained how I think it could have been dealt with, such as quick phone call to explain “we’re really sorry we are running late, your order will be with you by”, if I had been updated that they were busy and running behind, I wouldn’t have left a negative review and in fact would have likely left a positive review just for being kept updated, which I feel should really be standard practice, especially considering the order was roughly an hour late after the 45 minutes quoted. However that didn’t happen, and even when I called to get an update 4 times, the phone would ring but wasn’t answered. Unfortunately Sam seems to have taken the review as malicious instead of constructive. After todays visit, I will not personally be returning and will certainly not recommend to family, friends or customers/visitors. Which I feel is a shame as the food is usually good, unfortunately it’s just the service letting it down now.

Wish I could give a good review. Unfortunately, We ordered for a delivery at 18:15 over the phone due to orders online not going through. Was told on the phone it would be 45 minutes. First attempted to call back at 19:15 to ask for an update, phone wasn’t answered. Tried again at 19:20, 19:25 and 19:35, again no answer. Tried one final time to call at 19:45 to cancel the order, still no answer. Eventually went to the store to cancel the order at 20:00, initially was blamed on the online system, until I explained our order wasn’t done through the online system in the end. 1 hour and 45 minute wait (before cancelling) when we were told it would be 45 minutes. Unfortunately this is also not the first time deliveries have been late, we have only ever had one delivery on time in the last few years. Really sorry Sam and George, but just a phone call to update us or actually answering the phone would have avoided such a review.

Really disappointed this time; the food arrived 2 & 1/2 hours after I ordered it, it was cold and a portion of chips were missing.

This was one of the best Chinese style meals I've ever had, I went back and told them afterwards! I ordered the special fried rice just before closing, it was a huge portion and the meat and vegetables were cooked to perfection.

Never had bad food from here, and the delivery staff are always wonderfully friendly and helpful! A really great local chip shop.

Ordered 2 large Cod and chips. A really large piece of fish, really well cooked and not greasy. We Thoroughly enjoyed the meal which was delivered by a friendly driver. Well done to all at the Pearl of Northway

Quality food and quality service...

After a previous visit which left us a bit disappointed we decided to try again as it had been a few months since last ordering. I have to say that we appreciate the lengths the owner went to, to rectify the issue and that the food we had this evening was delicious. Thank you for the food and service tonight.

Main food was OK but asked for a bread cake/bun to accompany meal and ended with a stale long life burger bun. Fell apart as soon as a few chips were introduced so ended up feeding the surrounding wildlife.

Best Fish and Chip Shop ever, and great friendly staff who have worked so well under covid conditions... If you come here, you wont want to go anywhere else...

Just moved to the area and needed a quick tea. Used their online ordering app, which was very user friendly and allows you to customise everything. Everyone want something different but this menu catered for all of us. We ordered small chicken kebab, 1/2 lb burger, chicken steak burger, 2 jumbo sausages, chips and hallomi sticks. As I said before I used the app and customised everything and was expecting some mistakes but everything was made perfectly and to our specifications. All was delicious and will definitely use them again

Really good fish and chips (battered sausages are great too), but they are let down quite a bit by the small portion sizes. They are not particularly cheap, and the size of chip portions is very small. To put it into context, a "large" portion is barely enough for two people, where in may chip shops, you are warned when you order a large portion that it is typically for at least 4 people! They are always friendly and helpful and the food is lovely, but given the prices, I can't in good conscience give 5 stars for the frankly stingy portion sizes.

Ordered online and despite pre ordering had a long wait time stood in the rain, understandable that it is busy, however when asked how long t it will be i found the response to be very rude and was told not to order again. For this reason i will not return which is a shame.

You want cod, go large. Beautiful fish as good as anything you could eat in Padstow. Chips are quality and l mean quality, soft inside with a crunch outside. George and Sam are the friendliest of people, lots of smiles, chatter and hard work. If you fancy a cheesecake for afters then you are in for a treat, baked by their daughter, they could grace any top restaurant.

Superb quality food - exceptionally friendly staff, always happy to visit for Friday lunch. Sometimes you have to wait a moment for the food and sometimes you can get stuck in a queue but its well worth the wait. Parking is a little tight unfortunately, but that has nothing to do with the restaurant. Definitely recommended!

Epensive and portion sizes are terrible. I had to walk away tonight after seeing a £2 portion of chips in the paper. It was shocking... went to another place and the portion of chips was quite a lot cheaper and a huge portion size. I wont ever go to this place again...

Popped in for the first time this lunchtime. Establishment looked clean and tidy. Good selection of food.

Pay to much for to little , portion size is not good , but being served by kids does not help . Other chip shops I have been to are a lot better in portion size and reasonable priced . Sorry George but you have gone down in stars .

Used this chip shop when I was a child and recently moved back to the area and still the best chip shop in Tewkesbury. Great Value, Clean and staff are all smiling even on Friday and Saturday Nights when it's the most busiest.

Just moved to the area thought we would try there fish and chips. I am eating them right now. They are the best I have ever eaten. Thank you so ok much. Will be back next week. AMAZING

Have always been to Tewkesbury before for fish and chips but tried this place and so glad I did. The very friendly staff apologised for the short delay as they were cooking the fish and chips fresh and I was happy with this and how nice they were. Chips not greasy and Fish in crisp batter and nice and moist too. Wonderful !

I've been using the Pearl regularly, since moving to Northway over 10 years ago and can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal. George and his team are always smiling and happy to see their customers. Lunchtime special is an unbeatable £2.60 for large battered jumbo and a good sized portion of regular chips. Excellent.

This is an amazing chippy! One of the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s always busy and George (the owner) is always welcoming and efficient as are his staff! It’s now become a weekly visit! Yummy!

Called in on a long drive from Alton Towers back to Plymouth as was the nearest chippy we could find to the M6. Rang ahead to preorder and all was ready when we arrived. Staff were so friendly, helped me to carry out the food and even made my husband a cuppa to help him on the journey! Food was great and very good value. Thankyou :-)

For years my family and I have been going there and have never had an issue . I've tried pretty much everything on the menu and the chicken kebab and jumbo sausage and chips are my favourite. Food is always fresh and the owners are so lovely. A family run business who make me feel welcome and at home. It's also great value as you can get special meal deals if you are on a budget. Definitely recommend.
