Nice Robinson pub on the top of the road, Also featured on The League of Gentlemen, Hadfield is indeed Royston Vasey, The Masons Arms is now Tesco, And the Butchers Shop that sold ' special meat', I.e., missing visitors to Royston Vasey, ( no, not really) At 88 Station Road is now closed. A quiet village on the way to / from Glossop.

Don’t serve food which is fine but also don’t allow food to be brought in. Don’t accept Scottish notes? Do they take ones from Northern Ireland? If they are worried about fake notes surely it would be easier to just educate the staff, or invest money on a UV light rather than a bunch of signs and rules. Also a smile would be nice.

For a Wet Pub (one that doesn't serve food) the Palatine is great. It is warm, friendly, well run by attentive staff and the regulars are really welcoming and approachable. Excellent selection of Robinsons beer (tied house) All on one level, very clean and tidy. The landlady Gill has held the licence for 30 years at least. All the staff, mainly female are Excellent, clean, efficient and tidbit was fully refurbished six years ago to a very high standard. Good games rooms pool, darts and domino's etc. Great views of the countryside from the back windows. All in all a fine pub. Hadfield was Royston Vasey in the t.v series The League of Gentlemen, signage is displayed on the walls, much of the material was actually written this pub, many of the scenes were filmed in the immediate area, including my house in the introduction. It's what I call a happy pub.

It turns out to be true what people told me about the landlady's attitude and rudeness, after someone misheard what I said and kicked of at me I then quickly stepped back and did nothing violent but she frew me out and barred me but didn't bar the other person (we've shook hands now), then after about 7 years I went in and politely explained and apologised and she just said "thanks for the apology but I've heard what type of person you are" and by that I'm sure she means after hearing from the landlord of another pub when I had a epileptic seizure just 10 minutes after going in this other pub, the bouncers wouldn't have let me in if I was drunk and then just after I ordered my pint I faintly remember a weird feeling go through me before I collapsed and what people that were there told me next time I saw them I was shaking on the floor. The landlord of the other pub is also rude and ignorent, and just wouldn't believe it was an epileptic seizure. People should remember there's always 2 sides to a story.

It's a nice pub with a reasonable selection of beers. It's dog friendly except after 9pm on Fri and Sat which is a bit strange and the reason for losing 1 star. I only realised after trying to go in with the dog about 9.30 one Friday night. I wouldn't mind expect it wasn't that busy. I wouldn't want to take the dog in if it was chokka block, but if that's their policy then fair enough.

Just stopped in for a quick lunch. Nice menu, nice atmosphere, and their burger & chips were fresh, hot, and tasty. My wife enjoyed her curry and papadums. Only niggle is the ashtray is mounted on the wall by the entrance. This means that smokers stand by the door. People coming in or leaving must walk through their smoke, and the smokers stand comes wafting in when the door is opened. When I was a smoker this wouldn’t have bothered me, but now I see (and smell) why others were bothered. It’s a huge property, so there’s no need to encourage smoking by the door.

Had a takeaway from here a few days ago and mmmmmm yummy, they delivered within 45 minutes, the driver was friendly and the food was hot. I ordered crispy beef in ok sauce with a special fried rice. All tasted delicious and others in my group enjoyed their food too. We rang the order through so can’t comment too much on the atmosphere in the shop but service we received was good.

Rang back after an hour and 20 and was told he was leaving. Waited again. Rang up to say it’s been nearly two hours ( checked my call log) to be told if you don’t want it just don’t have it tell the driver. rude response will never order again . I used to live in Glossop, at a time when the Raj Gourmet brought something completely new to local curries. Every time I go back I hope it won't have lost its magic. All the curries here are completely different, so I can never decide and usually go for two very different dishes. Tonight I went for prawn pathia, chicken moglai, mushroom rice, and paratha. The pathia has lots of slivers of green chillis - eat them and it's deliciously vindaloo strength, leave them and it' a really good, rich sweet & sour curry. The moglai is smooth, indulgent, and nutty without the annoying sweetness of lots of similar curries. (The portions are still huge, so I'll be eating this tomorrow too). How they've managed to sustain the quality without increasing the prices, I don't know, but I love this place.
