We visited today for lunch to celebrate my mothers 89th birthday She chose the Owls because she used to visit often before my father died after 60 years together The meal was excellent the service was exemplary and the whole experience couldn’t be faulted Many thanks to you all

Been to the Owls for an evening meal quite a few times and it has always been nice. We thought we'd give the breakfasts a try and they were just as nice. Pleasant atmosphere and good, quick service.

Went for Sunday lunch, steak o.k. nothing special but the roast beef was tough. I thought it was expensive £54 for 2 corses 2 people + 1 glass of wine & half pint of beer, not be going back anytime soon.

Been coming here 25 plus years gone down hill lately came on Tuesday 21st Jan with my friend had the starter an main offer so unfortunately they didn't have anything I liked on the starter so asked could I change it an have the sweet instead and pay the extra I was told no I would have to pay for the 2 offer so when the minute steak came it had blood coming out asked them to take back and cook it some more best part was the cheesecake smallest piece not worth £6 starving when I got home won't be going again very dissatisfied

Went for a birthday meal with relatives. Very disappointed. The food is uninspiring and expensive for what you get. We used to come often before Covid and felt it was really good value for money and there was an excellent choice. They advertise as being open till 10.30 pm. Our table was booked for 7pm .The place was very quiet, no atmosphere at all, possibly 4 tables being used . We ordered desserts and hot drinks, I was served tepid tea, which I asked to be taken back.We felt very much that they wanted us to leave from about 8.30pm. Very disappointed, will think twice before visiting again. Expensive and mediocre.

Delicious home made food which was made even better as they have a special deal on at the moment 2 courses 13.50. Don't know how they did it for the price but glad they did.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch last week with our family from Virginia. Excellent food and lovely restaurant. the staff were fantastic👌.

Lovely food and wine but attempted to buy further wine at 9pm, we were told that they had cashed up and therefore couldn't serve us.

2nd time we've been, 1st time was good, this time was excellent. Portion sizes are spot on, Staff are polite and friendly. efficient, courteous, and well presented. Food was delicious. Well priced. They're doing a special at the moment, starter and main for £13.95, the couple next to us went for that option. There food looked excellent too. Will definitely visit again. 5 stars..

Went with family for a special occasion. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was high quality through and through, very satisfying and served promptly. Calamari starter: flavourful, light, just the right amount of aoila for the amount of food. Good presentation. A wedge of lemon would’ve been preferred to a slice just to make it a little less sticky dressing the calamari with juice. Rare Sirloin: perfectly cooked, crisp onion rings, al dente carrot, fresh greens, well cooked tomato and mushrooms, light and fluffy chips, depth in peppercorn sauce. Good presentation. Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ice Cream: hot and rich pudding a little stodgy when you run out of ice cream and sauce. Ice cream a little grainy, but very complimentary to pudding. Well presented.

Lovely food and staff will definitely visit again

Went Sunday 21/12 for a family meal. Not the best meal. Missing items on the Sunday dinner which when questioned was told they had none left. Not much taste to the food and had to ask for condiments to give it some flavour. Very strange setup with one bar serving some drinks but not others. Probably wouldn't return.

Very busy. Due to christmas I guess. Foor good though.

Great service for our Residents

I attended a friends 30th birthday party with was held upstairs in the Owls. It was warm, cosy and very well run. The buffet food (chilli and lasagna) was everything we needed to keep the night going. Bar staff we fabulous, Lewis was hilaaarious! Would recommend this location for an event!

Beautiful venue with stunning atmosphere and views. Menu looks amazing and food was really nice however as a vegan there was very limited options. More vegan options would be great including a vegan dessert option as there was none. But for non vegans this place would be wonderful for all occasions and you'd love the food. Looks especially nice at Christmas there! Please consider accomodating vegans more. Would definitely come back if there was more options!

We've eaten here regularly but the food this time was disappointing- bland and tasteless beef, congealed rum sauce with a slab of mediocre Christmas pudding. Servers were attentive and friendly.

Exceptional restaurant to bring the family. Wide range of food options, attentive service. Went for Ruby Wedding Anniversary celebrations and the staff we're incredibly helpful, allowing us afew table decorations (no confetti) and bringing a celebration cake over. Recommended!

Very good home cooked food and very friendly service

We had an enjoyable 40th ruby wedding anniversary meal with the family. They let us put some decorations on the table and a cake. Great food. Great service. Really accommodating and they helped us make it a special evening. Thank you so much. We will be back.

We attended a funeral here of a friend of my 94 year old father, and when we arrived, they were still closed .I asked a member of staff if they could let us in as he couldn't stand, and it was cold, and they left us standing outside for 20 minutes .The food was lovely

Excellent service and tasty food

It was a wonderful night, an excellent dinner with a starter of garlic bread and cheese. The time interval between the delivery of each meal was perfect, not too fast to the point of not having time to chat during the entrance and not too long to the point of having to wait a long time after the entrance was finished. Excellent service and high quality of the ingredients served in the meal.

The vegetables weren't nice, too hard for a senior person. They used to do lovely mashed carrot and buttered cabbage, which were really nice.

Portion sizes are small, food is nice enough but enough of it. Forgot my daughter's peas, menu doesn't state what comes with the Piri Piri chicken burger.

Nice food, efficient friendly staff, reasonable prices. What more do you want.

Not the same anymore. 3 course for a price not on the menu anymore. Wasn't busy at all. Food ok . Disappointed really. Normally packed but fewer people. Staff very nice.

Food seems like it has been microwaved from frozen. The boeuf bourguinon was pretty tasteless. Buy a ready meal and save money.

Really enjoy lunches here ... just a shame that the range of meals offered on the fixed price menu seems to have been reduced .. would mgt please consider looking at this. Will return again tho'

Our visit for my mother-in-law's birthday was abysmal. The food portions were small particularly for the price and the service was slow without explanation. We had to ask for our starter plates to be taken away it was that long. Then waited a very long time with us twice asking where the mains were. When the Sunday Lunches arrived, they were lacking. 2 slices of meat, 5 small potatoes, 1 little piece of cauliflower and a carrot cut in half with 3 green beans and a Yorkshire pudding for £15.50 is terrible. We will not be coming back. £120.00 wasted.

I have been going to The Owls for over twenty years and it was always 5* for food, service and atmosphere. About 5 years ago I noticed some changes such as changing the 2 course menu so you could only have a starter instead of a dessert. Since then prices have increased significantly and service is poor with a huge turn around in staff. We can no longer afford to go weekly and after my last visit which my daughter booked for father's day I decided I will never return. It was always full and people used to dress up giving it a refined atmosphere now it is full of families with kids running about making it feel like you're in a Wetherspoon's.

It's a while since I have been there, but it is not as good as it used to be. 6 giant chips. Don't think they have been fried. Braised beef was stringy. Creme Brulle was ok

Architecture of the inside and out of the building was very nice. Staff were friendly. Food and drinks are a bit high but it tasted amazing and I was super happy with iced cider.

Nice setting and decor etc. Food and drink was good, service was okay and felt like being rushed to finish and get out. It was midweek but it was well before 11pm.

Lovely place! Really changed since I last came, many many years ago! Food absolutely stunning!!!! I had the braised beef and it just fell apart! Cooked to perfection! The staff are lovely and really friendly! They didn't mind accommodating us even though we had 3 under 3 and weren't the quietest! Beautiful grounds!! Lovely to sit in and look out or ro sit out and enjoy the surroundings. Highly recommended!!!

Brilliant food, service and atmosphere

Ive been coming to the Owls for years and today was the first time ive been disappointed. Over priced (by far) and poor service. It only takes one bad experience to put us off coming again.

Very nice place tables are well apart which is great as so many restaurants have their tables to close to each other. Excellent service great value for money with good food. Would definitely recommend.

Generally a good dining experience on a weekday. Simple suit most brunch/lunch menu basics down to a price and coffee some of the best around.

The food was very good ,it was served very quickly and the following courses came out quickly so wasn't much time in-between courses ,the service was very good ,the only down side was as we had finished our meal it felt as if we were being rushed to leave, but would recommend a visit

1st April 2024 excellent meal plates nice and hot,vegetables cooked properly, not just blanched food cooked 2 perfection apparently they have a new chef well keep up the good work ur doing a good job well recommended

Large group of 16, Half had finished there starters before the others had even got theirs. This was again the same for the mains.

We had a lovely meal made better by the helpful staff,very reasonable prices and good service.

The Owls has been a firm favourite with my family and I for many years and we love dining here. It's always really good value and the surroundings are lovely. It's homely and cosy. Popped in for an evening meal with family. The steak and ale pie was delicious! Very cheerful member of staff at reception.

The service in the bar is appalling, second visit to give the benefit of the doubt, but, it was worse than the first! I understand the restaurant is busy with Sunday lunch, but, if you cannot give decent service in the bar area then don't open it

The food was ok, had pate starter & it came with a horrible orange marmalade, chicken burger main which was nice enough, there was a few of us & staff whispered what each meal was so it was difficult to hear but they were pleasant enough, the owls used to be cheap & has been renovated very nicely but there's room to improve with the food at the prices now being charged.

A lovely lunchtime treat here, courtesy of an equally lovely friend. We received a warm welcome, were seated at a cosy table with menus explained and drinks ordered. There was a varied choice of delicious sounding meals, and it really was hard to decide what to pick but we eventually plumped for the soup and sandwich with warm scone and jam & cream plus hot beverage deal, very reasonably priced at £12.50. Everything was fresh and the mushroom soup was home-made, so delicious! The wait staff were friendly, professional and we did not feel rushed at any time during our several hours there.....much needed for an overdue catch-up. We enjoyed the whole experience so much that we have made arrangements to return with more friends in a couple of weeks time to celebrate a special birthday 🎊. Thoroughly recommend The Owls.....now to work our way through the menu!

Had my husbands 60th birthday surprise here on Saturday 27th Jan....it was absolutely fabulous, from the food, the service, the staff, the venue, was perfect from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble asy daughter had gone earlier to put banners, balloons up etc. The Orchard Bar was lovely too. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you once again to all the team at The Owls and The Orchard Bar. Can't wait for Summer to sit outside in the beautiful surroundings. ❤️

First time I have visited. It was lovely. The food was spot on, the staff were lovely and the setting was lovely, well cared for and clean. I would not hesitate to return.

A group of 10 went for me and my friends birthday. We have gone to the owls for a long time when you could get 3 courses for 8.95. We have slowly watched the price increase which is understandable. However 3 courses was reduced to 2 course, starter and main. However there was still a good selection of choice. When we went last night it is now £17.50 for 2 course and yet again items removed from the choice. The food was definitely not what we have been used to and definitely not worth £17.50. The owls was always busy no matter what night you went, last night it was almost empty. I am afraid we won’t be coming for our next birthday get together. Very sad.

Beautiful food. We just turned up, party of 6 and they was able to fit us in no problem. Large free car park. We had a starter and main for £16.50. Excellent value. In the garden there was 5 Dear just wandering around.

Absolutely stunning place, would love to going summer and see the little river running through, it's a beautiful place inside and out, full table service, very clean and food absolutely amazing had peri peri burgers, and children's meals amazing price for all meals and drinks wasn't expensive like some places, staff was lovely, the quality of the food was amazing. Deffinelt recommend and go again very very soon.

Having never visited the Owls before, I was very pleasantly surprised, the building and interior are lovely and staff and food excellent a place I thinkyou should vist
