I have visited a few times as I have been trying to support local businesses. Really good coffee and juices but the service the last time I visited was awful. Waited over 20 minutes for one of the two toasties ordered and then had to remind them to bring the second which then took another 10 minutes. Hopefully they can sort the staffing issue at busier times. When it’s quiet during the day it is not a problem.

Coffee and a toastie which filled the lunch time munchies. We also shared a help yourself salad from the salad bar which was very nice but would have been better for their health conscious image if you put the salad into a reusable bowl rather than a plastic container

We came across this delightful cafe when stopping off in Chepstow on our return home from holiday. First impressions were great as it was well-organised and very clean. The array of fresh juices on offer is fantastic and the food is all freshly prepared. We ordered a tuna melt, bacon roll and egg mayonnaise sandwich. Everything was so fresh and flavoursome with generous fillings. There was a small salad bar and various sandwich options in the take-away section. The coffee, tea and fresh juices were excellent likewise the apple pie. Service was friendly too. We were so thrilled to find this place! We will definitely be back - very highly recommended.

We ordered sandwiches, a coffee and a pot of tea. A chicken tikka sandwich and a ham salad sandwich. The drinks were served straight away while we sat in comfortable chairs and watched the world go by through the window. We waited for the sandwiches while they were being freshly made. They tasted good and fresh in soft wholemeal slices. The service was friendly and the prices reasonable. A pleasant eating experience !

Nice small cafe with healthy alternatives, unfortunately it’s gone downhill lately. Salad bar food looks dried out and unappetising. I commented on how sad the salad looked and instead of my usual bowl of mixed salad with tuna l decided on a Brie toasty, it came with limp, brown edged lettuce.😠

We made a special trip to The Orange Crate based on a recommendation of their gluten-free offerings. However when we got there and my friend enquired as to the preparation, the girl advised us that there was not an isolated preparation area. She was concerned about cross-contamination (she has a strong intolerance) so she merely resorted to having a pre-packed cereal bar and crisps just to be safe which defeated the whole point of our visit! There were two young girls and a guy working at the time, all seemed rather disinterested and service was somewhat disjointed, with one of the girls spending the majority of our time there stood out back in the kitchen playing on her phone, intermittently shouting across the café that they had, firstly, run out of brown bread and secondly, that they should take no more orders for pesto chicken as they didn’t have any left... However this was around 1pm on a Saturday lunchtime and something you would think they’d be prepared for. The rest of us ordered sandwiches and toasties – the menu said all toasties are served with ‘a side salad of lettuce, cucumber, tomato and a sprinkle of grated carrot’ yet all we received was some limp lettuce which had clearly been pushed to the bag of the fridge and frozen. We asked if we could have some tomato etc. as was listed on the menu yet the girl advised ‘yeah but we don’t usually do that’ (yet those on neighbouring tables had a decent looking salad). The attitude was so half-ar*ed that we couldn’t be sure if half of the ingredients listed in our chosen juices were even in there… Overall it was a poor offering with poor service and a real disappointment.

Started well with really friendly and welcoming service and lots of gluten free items on the menu, but unfortunately it went downhill from there! Called in for a light lunch while in Chepstow for the day. Lovely choice of salads, cakes, snacks, sandwiches, smoothies and soup. Hermosa cafetería y en ambas ocasiones nos permite traer nuestro perro dentro. Había una buena variedad de sándwiches y ensaladas frescas y la envoltura vegetariana era increíble. My partner and I had a rare chance to go out for lunch without the kids. We chose to stay local and decided to try the orange crate for a change. We had to clear our table when we sat down. This is my family's favourite place to eat in Chepstow. The food here really is fantastic and is all home made with an emphasis on health and natural ingredients. Our favourite is the soup which changes regularly but is always thick, delicious and flavoursome. It comes with a home baked bread roll which is massive and has clearly been freshly baked that morning. They have a great selection of juices to choose from which again have an emphasis on health. The coffee is also great and I actually prefer the coffee in the Orange Crate to Costa and Coffee #1 which are just over the road. The owner and the staff are so friendly and have developed a lovely rapport with my daughter who is 6. We pop in regularly after school and she feels confident enough to order on her own and ask for things and she loves talking to the staff.
