La Ribera in Monmouthshire

This was my first trip to La Ribera and it was very enjoyable. Friendly staff, amazing food (I had the Brazilian chicken). Crisp, tasty beer and real Italian Gelato too. Food was great value for money and such a welcome change from the plastic pre-packed food served in so many pubs and bars these days.

Stopped off for drinks and a few tapas plates and a panini. All very freshly made. Very tasty and great service. Sat outside but inside was very clean and well presented.

Patronised La Ribera through the Pandemic and have has wonderful food experiences every month;Spent £150 average at each visit .What I found off putting consistently was John Jingling his keys when he wanted you to leave.Also serving Bikini Martinis in plastic glasses randomly ,having been in the establishment eating for 3 hours previously ??? Can’t even describe the unnecessary and unprofessional stand-off attempted by John when leaving.Sadly won’t be back despite the lovely waitress service as always- you know who are 😉.

Called in for lunch, eat there couple of years ago different owners then, Pleasantly surprised had a Chicken Tortilla,Pate,bread,salad,drinks Lovely atmosphere however area outside would be nice if it was levelled up, But really enjoyed tasty fresh food great down by the river. We will return soon Thanks 🙏

Overall a fabulous evening meal with friends, we had the tapas and were really impressed, it was good value and the atmosphere was lovely. Early on in the evening (booking 6.30pm) the service was fantastic, friendly and helpful but towards the end of our meal (around 8.30/9pm) we got the impression they were waiting for us to leave and asked us several times if there was anything else, the tone was very different, quite frustrated and impatient. We also got the feeling the staff that were sitting on a table directly behind us were talking about us, it was an uneasy feeling. I totally understand that when its not so busy you probably want to shut up a little earlier but it really did feel that they were pushing us out! A shame really as this has put me off going back, regardless of how good the food was.

We were passing and called in for lunch today The quiche was very nice Its a bit confusing though as you enter it was not clear that they were open or that there was seating inside Also a very high step so not suitable for anyone with a disability But once inside a seated it was very nice Bright and clean

Very pleasant outside space and friendly staff. Home style cook food of great quality. Vegan diet catered for extremely well, very good quality and value.

We popped in for morning coffee having phoned previously to see if they are doggy friendly. Yes they are, Very dog friendly! The young man who served us (manager perhaps?) was very helpful and friendly. The oat milk lattes were really nice and hot too. We will certainly go back with Rafa the Labrador for a meal soon.

Great atmosphere. Amazing setting. Gorgeous tapas. This place is perfect setting on the riverside summer or winter. Food is gorgeous and the wine list and cocktails are spot on. Love it.

The restaurant is warm and inviting, the staff are very helpful and welcoming especially our waitress Pamela, she couldn't do enough for us. The food was beautiful, being a vegan it's not always the best but La Ribera really fed me well, their nut roast was one of the nicest I've ever tasted and well worth the money. The price was average, my overall experience was excellent.

Just been for dinner. Excellent food & atmosphere, it was nice to feel a bit of normality. The food here is consistently great as is the welcome you receive. We would absolutely recommend this restaurant.

Our table for two was booked in March 2021 and reconfirmed on the 1st September via email with tracytheriverside@gmail.com. Note its the same restaurant just a different name. Tracy responded promptly for the booking on Thursday 15th September. We arrived only to find the restaurant closed with a sign on the door Kitchen is closed Tonight due to unforeseen circumstances. we then visited two neighbouring hostelries only to be informed by both that this is a regular occurrence and the proprietors put this sign up when bookings are low. We wouldn't have minded if we had received an email, text or call all to tell us it wasn't open all of which were possible Shocking customer service on scale we have never encountered.

Afternoon drinks in the sun....... Awesome location. Outdoor seating and tables alongside the river. P!easant way to spend the afternoon

Dropped by for a light lunch snack and ended up having grilled kebabs. These are proper authentic kebabs and I noticed as the cook removed the m from the skewer he checked every piece coming off.

Lovely setting. Ate in the gazebo outside. Food was tasty. Staff were pleasant. My son said that it was the nicest burger he'd ever had. The only downside was that they'd run out of vegan cheese for the vegan beetroot burger. A nice touch would have been to give some extra fries instead or charged slightly less. Would recommend the vegan burgers, brisket burger, coconut curry & nachos. Sorry, totally forgot about leaving a tip. Would visit gain.

Visited for Friday evening meal after having looked at the extensive menu online and deciding on a few items that really took my fancy. Very, very disappointed when we got there to find that the actual menu is about a quarter of the online version....

Called in after a walk in Chepstow friendly and efficient service ordered a beer and 4 Tapas dishes all excellent but the crab cakes were especially good Reasonable cost and nice view of river would recommend

Had tapas here and the food was nice but nothing amazing. The meatball dish just tasted like beef mince with a supermarket tomato sauce - the same sauce was also on the patatas bravas. Staff were very friendly and a nice setting though.

Stopped here for and evening of drinks while waiting for the Wales in a day Cycle event to end here, lovely spot on the river, very relaxed atmosphere. Staff were excellent and owners were so welcoming, can’t wait to return.

Stopped for a light lunch here. It was very hot so snuck a shady spot on the lawn. Had two paninis and two soft drinks. Service was good, lady serving us was very attentive and welcoming! Delicious food too, alongside a beautiful view!

Too many staff and not enough people actually working. Poorly organised take away service that caused unnecessary queueing and a build up of customers waiting inside. I waited 20 minutes for a hazelnut frappe! 60 seconds in Costa, go figure!!!!

Lovely setting by the river. All meals were lovely Fillet steak on a skewer, beef brisket burger, chicken with chilli and garlic,white bait and garlic bread. No complaints from the 5 in our party. Great variety of drinks, lovely friendly staff and excellent table service....

Really wanted to rate this higher being a new local business but too many negatives. Location is great right on the river with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the setting. When we went there was a bit of drizzle in the air and getting...

So disappointing. We realize this is a new business in very difficult times. Staff- 5 very young staff behind the bar who seem minimally trained on hospitality. Atmosphere- poor, facing 5 staff behind the bar struggling to find something to do but took ages to...

Fabulous meal in a beautiful setting, a little busy so had to wait, but the food was worth the wait.
