The Olive Tree in Southampton

Having got up early a colleague and myseld ordere a couple of coffees and a bacon roll each. The coffee was out of a push button machine and both were just warm and frankly awful. In face the cappuccino was reported as probably not having any coffee in it! 30 minutes later and wee reminded a server that the bacon rolls had not arrived and after 5 minutes they arrived. "Artisan" has been redefined to mean a stale dry bap. They present an unbuttered bap with smoked bacon and a pat of butter. Basiclly a DIY job. Inedible horrible and expensive. £20.60 for 2 awful coffees and 2 stale baps.

I went to order chips and chilli, priced on the menu at £5.50. When I ordered the assistant asked me for £15.75, I replied saying it was £5.50. She was adamant that it was £15.75. What a con. I asked her for a menu to check, none were available. She then was hitting buttons, and then replied it was £5.50. I told her to keep it. I was very annoyed . Please train your staff so they understand what they are talking about, and have menus available at the tills.

Ordered at bar- 2 soups 1 fish and chips for table39 Soup was like tinned chopped tomatoes We had just started soup when waitress arrived with main course we said we were not ready as table already had two large plates plus condiments and Menus .But waitress insisted that table 39 had ordered the main course and we had to take them then ! She did take them away When we were ready for next course the fish and chips were dried up and the macaroni had a black skin on top and no sign of any black pudding Absolutley one of the worst we have ever had

Awful. No atmosphere. Took 30 mins to get a drink in an almost empty restaurant. I ordered a rare steak and it came out well done. The chef clearly can't cook. Overpriced. Never go here.

Had the fish and chips , a measly small piece of fish, over cooked with a small portion of fries rolling around on the plate . The mushy peas were also dried out as if they had been grilled too long. Think of fish and chips at a primary school dinner and you won’t be too far off. The price was £17.50 from memory ( other colleague paid bill) at least £16 would have been pure profit. My recommendation is to go to the Costa next door

Stopped here for a drink as early for flight. Since it has been painted the prices have gone through the roof. £30 for a bottle of Sauvignon blanc. However a 250 ml glass is £9.50 so cheaper to order by the glass. Food is ridiculous. A pepperoni pizza £18 A bowl of pasta with a tomato sauce £15 We watched people coming in and leaving as soon as they realised. We and everyone else just ordered sides. It’s really disappointing that you are praying on a captive audience. And from where I was sitting I could count at least 2 lightbulbs out. Very poor. If you want to charge 5 star prices it probably needs to be 5 star.

Really poor. Felt like the place was preparing to close permanently. We ordered two large breakfasts. That was £28. I asked if that included drinks, and it didn’t!! So I paid a further £7 for coffee and tea. I was not asked about how I would like my eggs. So eventually, on the smallest plate ever, they turned up as over cooked scrambled. Then I noticed there were no mushrooms (menu said mushrooms). The waitress said they had run out of mushrooms. But she didn’t care. The food was horrible anyway. I saw the chef in the toilet afterwards and felt like telling him but ….you just don’t do you? The two people serving on Friday 10th AM just didn’t want to be there and made that plainly obvious. To be honest - after that experience - neither did I.

Food okay but we had a table booked for 8pm and took over an hour for our food to arrive. Staff friendly but not enough of them

Went here for lunch with my wife and daughter, very friendly welcome by the staff, we were seated straight away, with the drinks order coming to our table swiftly. We had a variety of starters, which were cooked and presented perfectly. For our mains, my daughter ordered the Caesar salad, with chicken. Really surprised how much chicken was on the salad! The chicken was cooked really well, and the quality and quantity of food on the plate was equally good. My wife opted for the seafood linguine, pasta cooked perfectly along with all the other ingredients. I asked what the catch of the day was, and was told that it was sea bass. I really enjoy fish, and have had sea bass many times before in other restaurants. But this sea bass was on a completely different level ! I cannot begin to explain how good this fish was, my wife agreed with me when she tried some. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, the restaurant has been fitted out really well, nice atmosphere and a great location. We will definitely be back to try other options on the menu that’s for sure.

Been to this restaurant three times this week and the food was excellent !!! so was the service and especially the staff And management I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone excellent !! Thanks Andy

THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PLACE - NOT OF THE POOR STAFF TRYING TO WORK THERE: We arrived on time for our flight but it was delayed so we went to the Olive Tree. The 'Daily Specials' menu offered a caesar salad for £10.95. Yes - that's right - £10.95 for some chopped lettuce with some dressing and parmesan cheese. You could add bacon for an extra £2. Then the bar staff said they had chicken or shrimp too. So I ordered a chicken caesar salad. 10 minutes later the poor staff member came over "I'm sorry - we can't do the salad". I asked if it was that they didn't have chicken. He said "No - the chef is on his own in the kitchen and he can't make the salad' So - yes- the chef was so short staffed that he couldn't put some chopped lettuce on a plate and pour over some (probably bought in) dressing. The whole time this was happening the 'manager' was sitting chatting at one of the tables in the restaurant. My recommendation? Eat before you get to the airport.

The service was amazing and the chefs delivered exceptional food worth a special trip for! Would defiantly recommend to anyone

The place its self is lovely and the bar staff were so nice during our time here. We noticed that the manager was so rude to her bar staff and she was swearing at the members of the public I do not agree with this at all and because of the manager of the pub being so rude, foul language and being rude to her staff we will not be coming back again!

Good breakfast options and service always great, Young lad called Sunny in particular is always customer service focused.

Tonight I had the pleasure of being served by Leah, Eloise and Jamie-Lea. The girls were fab! High energy, pleasant, welcoming and generally a great all round service. An excellent service that brightened up a looong day!!! Well done girls. You should be really proud of yourselves xxx

Children’s cutlery and cold breakfast ! Terrible place . Wouldn’t have breakfast here again if coming through the airport

I use this restaurant regularly. The staff are super efficient and friendly. Food is decent for an airport also... Onkar is an extremely helpful chap and makes me feel welcome :)

No hay muchas opciones de comida en el aeropuerto de Southampton. Como acabábamos de pasar un momento estresante en seguridad, decidimos que necesitábamos una copa de vino con nuestra merienda, así que elegimos el Olivo.En el lado positivo, el vino era bueno, el servicio fue rápido y amable. Son eficientes para asegurarse de que su comida se sirva rápidamente, a tiempo para su vuelo.En el lado negativo, nuestra primera opción de comida no estaba disponible. Así que elegimos pan plano de tomate y mozzarella. No fue agradable, demasiado pan. Solo me comí el aderezo.

Schnelles Essen und Getränke vor dem Abflug. Großer Andrang am Flughafen. Die Tische werden leider nicht abgeräumt und man muss sich seine Getränke am Tresen selbst organisieren.

Supongo que no es sorprendente que la comida aquí sea demasiado cara. Después de todo, ¡tienen una audiencia cautiva!Desayunamos mientras esperábamos nuestro vuelo, un inglés completo y gachas. Ambos estaban sabrosos. Lo que fue particularmente impresionante fue el cuidado y la atención que tomé cuando pedí gachas de leche de soja. Me preguntaron si tenía alergia y se aseguraron de que prepararan mis gachas por separado. Pensé que esto era excelente y demostré que el personal había sido bien entrenado en esto.

I’ve eaten almost weekly here for the last few weeks. It goes from bad to worseService generally rude and poorIt’s quite priceyFood quality is lowOverall experience is badI know it’s an airport way etc etc, but even with that in mind it’s bad. Avoid if you can . I will from now on

Always enjoy a drink in here before takeoff. I don’t eat the food so can’t comment on that but the staff are really nice which I wouldn’t have said 12 months ago so well done on whatever you’ve done to improve staff happiness levels! Always busy too which is a good sign. Keep up the good work. Oh and they now do Peroni!!

Had a pre flight light meal, which was actually very good. It was served in a very timely manner. While the ambience is not exactly the Ritz, it was pleasant enough. Staff were friendly and the food & drinks were surprisingly good value for money.

We visited here for breakfast and coffee to perk us up before an early flight. I had Croque Monsieur, it was fantastic! Great value for money at £11.80 with a pot of tea which I think is reasonable in comparison with many airport price hikes.

Service on the ball and friendly, fairly good selection of beers, menu fairly standard for an airside restaurant but food was well presented and freshly cooked(or appeared to be). Prices were what you would think for the location

Sunday morning (very, very early😩) was a little surprised at how good the food / coffee was before our 'crack o' dawn' flight. My bacon baguette was delicious 👍 and my partner drooled over the croissant, cooing that it was yummy...... nice coffees too 😊

This visit is my first and will be my last, make sure you wonderful people eat before you enter the departure lounge if your looking at eating a descent meal as this place ( The Olive Tree) won’t be for you , I had ordered the works burger meal at over £12:00 to find when it arrived it looked like someone’s left overs as it was placed in front of me it put me right Of and sent it right back and got my money back couldn’t chance to order anything else . You get a better meal at a Burger King / McDonald’s .

Another very disappointing and tasteless chorizo topped flatbread and chips which was about as tasteless as the surroundings. Surely with a captive audience and breathtakingly high prices it would be possible to raise the flag of excellence and give passengers a real culinary experience. Some hope but fingers crossed.

Clean and comfortable with good service. Epic toast, marmalade and coffee (full breakfast looked good as well). Menu reasonably priced.

El aeropuerto de Southampton no es grande, por lo que no hay una gran opción a considerar. El olivo es una comida típica inglesa. With limited time it was good to see a promise of food served in 15 minutes. Food arrived in time and was great. I would consider eating here again.

The food, when it arrived, was really good. However, we did have to wait 40 minutes for it. Fortunatly we had time, the family on the next table had to scurry to catch thier flight.

Won't pretend the food was great, but amazingly quick service. The young lady behind the bar in the upstairs cafeteria by the boarding gates was extremely friendly and helpful.

Excellent, friendly service and the Caesar Salad with chicken and bacon is superb. They will also put a meal on rush if your flight is soon. Yes I will visit again.

I generally wouldn’t expect much from an airport pub as it not like they are looking to build up a book of regulars!

Been here a few times before catching evening flights to Manchester. The burgers are pretty good for an airport restaurant, at the higher end of pub grub. Good chips too. Service is fast which is plus.

Through security at 5am, expectations were low especially on the reviews. Surprisingly had a really good breakfast and then went to the C place for a coffee! Really friendly staff too!

Lets start with how the restaurant was presented. It was dusty and dirty, food on the floor , plates on tables , glasses everywhere , glasses rings all over the tables. When ordering the staff member I was later informed was the manager (Wendy) was extremely rude when I asked her a simple question about the wiskey they had. I ordered the flatbread and chips but was disappointed as the flatbread was under cooked and doughy. So I grabbed the attention of a waiter and they said they'd get the manager. The manager (Wendy) was very reluctant to refund me for my purchase as I did not want another as it put me off. The prices are also extortionate for drinks and food.

Bacon baguette was lovely with 3 x thick back rashers. The English breakfast just had one rasher, one sausage, egg and beans. Toast was extra. A little disappointing. Stick with the baguettes! Btw tables were clean and service friendly and efficient.

Ordered 4 main meals for colleagues and myself. Chicken salad very bad and poor value for money. Waiter/ miserable barman couldn’t care less! “Is this normal? £11.95? Half a gem lettuce, a couple of croutons and a quarter of a chicken breast? Yes! Stock up on vending machine snacks before you leave the office. Con and rip off. Avoid!

I had food here before flying this week. Decent welcome from staff. The food was pretty decent tbh and the price was decent as well considering it’s an airport restaurant.

This was soooooo much better than I had feared. I arrived at 5:45am was worried everything would still be closed. Fast and friendly service, good coffee and a nice bacon and sausage baguette. My husband had eggs royale and the eggs were perfectly poached.

Just had brunch here. I saw on the children’s menu for £5.95 you could have an omelette with choice of filling plus drink and dessert. I fancied an omelette so asked if I could have an adult version. Yes was the answer. Now I didn’t expect it for £5.95 but was changed £10.15 a little pricey but it did say 3 eggs on the receipt. When it came it was just served with half a tomato nothing else. I went back to the guy I ordered from and asked if there was anything else to come, he said no that is the adult version. I said for over £10 I’m not happy, he just shrugged.

Toujours à l'aéroport de Southampton je recommande ce restaurant. Prix plus que convenables, nourriture bonne, accueil et service excellent.

Dined here twice in the space of a month, once planned (for breakfast) and once unplanned (because of a delay) and had a burger. Breakfast was good but it took an age to order but not long to arrive. The chicken burger meal was ok but not spectacular. Friendly enough staff.

Ate there this evening before catching a flight. Have been there before but for drinks and for that purpose it’s fine. Ordered fish and chips and wasn’t expecting much but christ the food was awful. Soggy batter, oven fries and no sight of any salad. Barely edible. Staff were friendly enough but stay clear of the prison food is my recommendation

After an early start and a hard day, I stopped in for a quick half.

Viajé por el aeropuerto de Southampton. Visité el bar y restaurante Olive Tree para tomar un refrigerio. Había experimentado un duro viaje al aeropuerto y necesitaba algo de comida y una bebida. A su llegada, casi todas las mesas estaban cubiertas de vajilla y vasos usados, pero estaba ocupado. Limpié un espacio en una mesa increíblemente sucia y pegajosa, los asientos estaban sucios y era necesario reemplazarlos. Estaba sucio y viejo. Me dirigí a la zona del bar para tomar una copa y pedir algo de comida. El servicio fue horrible. Dos personas tiraron una pinta para pasarle el vaso al barman y tomar mi dinero y una para tirar la pinta. Pedí comida casera un sándwich de pescado muy simple con papas fritas. Tuve que ir al bar para preguntar dónde estaba mi comida después de esperar veinte minutos. Mi comida apareció milagrosamente después de que el barman la persiguió. Las mesas todavía estaban llenas de vasos sucios, vajilla y viejos envoltorios de comida. El sándwich era horrible, prácticamente sin sabor y los dedos de pescado que se usaban parecían contener muy poco pescado. Me fui decepcionado mi pinta y el sándwich costó 14. 30. Sé que es un aeropuerto pero! La próxima vez que viaje por el aeropuerto de Southampton, creo que le daré una oportunidad al Olive Tree.

Volé en un vuelo temprano el lunes por la mañana. El personal era excelente y amable. Lily sacó orden con una sonrisa! Sunny hizo nuestro delicioso café! ¡Y Aidan sacó nuestra deliciosa comida con un salto en su paso y parecía que realmente le importaba cómo era nuestra comida!

Pedí los pinchos de pollo como un poco para comer antes de subir a mi vuelo. No me puedo quejar con el anuncio, ya que dice pinchos y conseguí dos. Pero no eran los más grandes y esperaban más para el 7. 25 etiqueta de precio. Eso es mucho por pinchos. También se vendió con bbq y salsa de chipotle, la bbq tenía razón, pero la salsa roja ciertamente no era chipotle, pero tampoco soy Gordon Ramsey.

Claramente, en un aeropuerto está atrapado el comercio, pero 3 desayunos ingleses muy promedio con dos cafés de mala calidad y un té por 40 libras, ¡es un robo a la luz del día!

Despite the early hour, just after 5am, staff were up and running friendly and obviously used to dealing with half a sleep travellers. The full breakfast was excellent coffee acceptable and the WiFi plenty quick enough. Full marks.

Decided to have a swift g&t; before flying home - drinks came to almost £10 for one gin/tonic and a lemonade. Place has little atmosphere but to be expected for an airport bar/restaurant

Pleasant surroundings. Prompt and friendly service at the bar. Hot and tasty food arrived quickly - 'The Works' burger and veggie balti, plus onion rings. Nice hot coffee. Tables cleared and cleaned promptly, so very clean and tidy. Average prices for airport (£31 for all the above).

Having ordered our food we noticed how disgustingly dirty the cafe was. There was an accumalation of dirt, grime and food on the floor, table and bench seat. We watched the tables being cleared and tidied without cleaning and totally ignoring straws, paper crumbs etc on the seats, infact the condiments were put back over the sticky messy tables. Wooden beams, vents etc disgusting. We were unable to finish our meal and the staff clearly did not understand our concerns. This is a hygiene hazard and the cafe should be closed and deep cleaned.

Food very late and came out cold. Quality of food was very poor also. Staff very unconcerned. Very poor even by airport standards.

You tend to have low expectations when you eat at airports. The Olive Tree was a pleasant exception. Good service, a very decent brunch (basically a cooked breakfast), at a reasonable price. They event managed to cook the bacon properly for me. Recommended.

Ordered a fish finger sandwich ...what turned up was three battered fish goujons slapped in some toast with a limp bit of lettuce..fish was pale and insipid on the outside grey and rubbery on the inside. Tried to get staff attention ..they just kept on scurrying round . Not once did someone check how our food was or even attempt to clear the plates even though we had finished for quite a while. It was almost as if they knew I had something to complain about....

I have visited this a few times my last visit was on the 16th August. I must say what an improvement - the food was lovely and the tables were cleared and cleaned down quickly which didnt happen last time. There was a superb lady manager, who I apologise I didnt get her name, which was a bit rude of me, but also a waitress called Sandra who was very good. I work in the industry and last time I was there the tables werent clean and food just OK

We visited on a Saturday evening when it was very busy,exceedingly noisy and tables not cleared. Food ok but not an experience to remember for the right reasons.

On the air side at Southampton Airport, there is a Costa and the Olive Tree which also includes a bar. A good place if you have time to fill before your flight away from the bustle of the departure hall. There is a varied menu and the service was good.

Descent food and tasty. Spicy onion rings with the burger are a must. Good enjoy value considering the location and the staff were friendly. Enjoy

Just one of those delayed flights was a good reason to visit this restaurant. It was very busy, though still enough room to find a table an edit with a beer and some Bruschke. I had to order at the bar and was given a beer and an empty bottle with a number. That was sufficient to bring me my meal roughly 10 minutes later. Simple and efficient.

Earlyish flight to Edinburgh ,meant breakfast was needed, after asking if I could change the egg for another sausage, request readily accepted, no fuss, and ordering drinks we sat back.

I arrived at the airport early to have time for something to eat and was looking forward to my brunch. The sign says quick service and my coffee arrived promptly. However, 20 minutes later no sign of food and it wasn't that busy. I asked and was told it was on its way. When it did arrive it was a burger and not the brunch I had ordered. I got a refund but went away hungry.

Had breakfast there. Coffee (which was fine and made there and then when ordering), Traditional English Breakfast and toast and toast (with butter and choice of jam).

Good location to chill and eat before the flight. Good food and drinks. Friendly and quick staff. Nice equipped.

While trapped in Southampton airport we ate here. Next time I’ll but crisps!

I ordered a burger whilst waiting for a flight. It looked pale and had a fatty consistency. Usual price for an airport, nearly £11 which was expected but it didn't seem any value. Didn't have time to complain else i would have. The environment itself is fine to be in whilst waiting. I will stick to wine and nuts next time.

We had an evening meal here recently when we were waiting for a flight.

To be fair- choices of places to eat are minimal in Southampton airport so you have a choice of costa coffee, or the olive tree. This could lead to inflated prices or complacency however we had lunch here on Saturday and found it to be reasonably priced and decent quality. Recommend the chorizo hash- unusual and different, and only just over £8. A lot of other people had different types of flatbread whilst we were there and they also looked very nice. It is pretty much no frills but we would eat here again.

Better than your average airport food. Pleasant service as well. Small airport and plenty of room to eat. Good.

When you are stuck at an airport, for some inexplicable reason you put up with mediocrity

The food is cooked very nicely however the portions are small so I didn’t feel I got what I paid for. The toast doesn’t come with your breakfast, it’s an additional £2.25 and ours did come out cold. Our food took about 15 minutes to come, so we didn’t have to wait long.

Just had my dinner here and tried the fish and chips. A really good size fish and a good amount of thin and crispy chips to go with it. Well priced for what I got.

Flew out yesterday couldn't fault the team that were on, great service by a young girl called Holly, friendly, cheery and great with offering other items. Another young girl assisted with making drinks which improved the service. A bottle with a number on is giving for the food, which works well. I ordered Fish and Chips with some Onion Rings, came out in 10 minutes again good service from another young lady. The fish batter was really good as well as the fish, chips and onion rings hot and tasty all together. Overall very good experience and was even thanked and giving a goodbye from the team behind the bar. Would definitely recommend.

Just thought we would have a snack before boarding our flight. Ceasar salad, well want a rip off, bulk lettuce leaves, few croutons, and a few shavings of Parmesan cheese. Brochette with chopped onions and tomatoes was ok. Won't rush back.

Chicken balti, comprising a few cubes of processed chicken and some hard butternut squash, was a very disappointing way of wiling away an airport wait. Flavourless pockets of warm food and the rest bordering on cold, all served with cold hard flat bread. £14 for the privilege, served with a Diet Pepsi. Mmmm....awful!

I like the Olive Tree. Ok it’s an airport monopoly but the food, especially the breakfasts, are fine.

I am a regular traveller through Southampton Airport but I don’t usually leave enough time to eat so at best normally a coffee and a sandwich. On this occasion myself and my colleague arrived with three hours to kill before our flight so we made our way up to The Olive Tree.

A full English breakfast with good quality produce used. The sausages were excellent, coffee great and good swift service. All round good value.!

Limited choice at such a small airport but olive tree seems ok esp for an alcoholic beverage. I think having...

I regularly visit many airports across the world but have to admit I've found a little gem in the olive...

Bar service was terrible! Understaffed, more concerned with doing stills than dealing with the queue of customers waiting to be served! Food was ok, waiting staff ok, bar servers staff dreadful!

While the queue at the coffee bar was massive, I thought I'd try next door. Very nice coffee, a really good bacon baguette and very nice service. Don't queue up for poor service come to the Olive tree.

I have been delayed in Southampton Airport and waited in the olive tree cafe bar. There has been a queue at the bar for the last 90 mins and just one bartender;Katy. Watching her as she greeted each customer, apologised for the delay and cheerfully served them has been a delight and she should be commended for doing an amazing job while left completely on her own.

Fly from Southampton once a month so have used this place a few times but I'm now seeing it's not worth it! Half the menu is never available (never have I been able to get the avocado on toast - just take it off the menu! Amaretto and coke was 8ponds and the bruschetta has actually halved in size! I know it's an airport but 16 pounds for some cold tomatoes and a drink is insane save yourself the money and get a sandwich before total rip off!

Had dinner before boarding a flight. Good restaurant and plenty of choices from menu. Helpful friendly staff, good service no rushing you out either.

Waiting for flight home..lovely atmosphere and quick service and nice to relax watching the busy little airports runway.Highly recommend.

Good Breakfast bun, nice French stick, plenty of well cooked bacon, sausage not quite as good. Next time i'll have double bacon. Nice staff, very pleasent way to start our trip away.

Two coffee one porage and a cooked breakfast for £17 at airport. Tasted delicious and served hot. Waitress checked food was ok too. Good start to trip.

I tried to eat here after working all day and prior to my flight home. It was impossible as the can not cater for a glutton free vegetarian. Not even a salad or ommlette. I Lund the staff to be quite rude and unhelpful.This is the only restaurant in the airport so I feel they should at leAst attemp yo cater for allergies. Even a jacket potato would have been accepted.

There are two queues here. Coffee and drinks are served fairly quickly but food and drink take longer. Nothing too fancy and what you might expect at a basic airport. Heathrow T5 it ain't.

Pretty average place to dine and talk about expensive, what a joke. Average food at expensive prices. I think the staff at the bar are too pushy, I'm trying to look at a menu whilst being asked every 10 seconds what drink I want...back off people, you'll know when I know.

This is the only restaurant air-side at the airport (located next to Costa coffee). Food quality is great - fresh and well presented. The only negative comment is that all food is very over-priced, which is typical in an airport whee choice is limited. Service was good.
