After a lovely drive we arrived at The Old Post Office on Mull. The sun was shining and made it perfect spot for lunch. We sat outside on bench’s just a few steps from beach. We ordered inside and the food was soon bought out to us. Homemade mushroom soup with a cheese scone. Delicious. My husband had a toastie which was tasty. The Post Office also sells supplies like milk. There is parking but got very busy as we had our lunch.

Amazing location overlooking the loch. Had a fabulous lunch, nice and simple but very well done. I had a cheese and ham toastie and my wife had quiche. Both were excellent. Off the beaten track but well worth making the effort. And don’t forget to walk to Laggan beach as well, it’s magical.

It's great that this small cafe exists in what is close to the middle of nowhere in Mull terms - we've been coming for years, every time we visit Mull. It's a great facility, and I marvel that it survives. My one gripe on this visit was the venison burger - I love venison, but it's a very dry meat, and needs added fat when you make a burger. Unfortunately, it had none so the very compressed meat had the texture of thick cardboard and no taste. Add some fat, and don't squash it! ... then I'm sure it will be delicious! My wife's langoustines were excellent.

Local honest food cooked to a high standard by Nick and Melissa … and with a view to behold. Excellent mussels and great venison burger with onion jam - and wonderful baking. If I like the background playlist in a restaurant I always ask for it and this is the first time it was immediately available and shared - thank you. It made the visit all the more enjoyable. We will be back frequently.

I called in at The Old Post Office with two older children, on our way back from visiting Iona. We had mussels, a venison burger, sausage roll, drinks and coffees, I cannot fault anything we had or the amazing service. We also booked for a nights camping, it was raining and very windy and were staying in a tent, the lady in the restaurant was extremely busy but took time out to show us a sheltered spot and was more than helpful. We returned the next morning to have breakfast. We walked to the standing stones and the castle and found this 24 hours enjoyable and memorable. I cannot thank them enough for the positive help they gave me.

What a great little cafe and such friendly staff in the middle of nowhere at the end of the road at Lochbuie. Delightful Cakes and snacks. Lovely tea and coffee and the opportunity to buy a gift or two. This great location is very picturesque, if you are going in Setpe / Oct wrap up the sea breeze is a wee bit on teh chilly side, There are also lovely short walks out for this location too - Parking is a little tight and for about 10 cars. The Hosts were so very personable 5* from us

A definite must to visit if you are on the Isle of Mull. The drive to it is through some glorious scenery and the venue itself is set on a beautiful coastal area of Mull. The food was delicious and we even took some with us to eat later for our evening meal. Our original plan was to walk to Moy Castle after our lunch but on the day we visited it was far too windy so we took a few pictures of the surrounding area and sadly left, but we would happily go back on future visits to Mull.

steve smith Local Guide·14 reviews·4 photos just now NEW £20–30 Really upsetting visit today. We have been before and always look forward to visiting. However today the staff were more interested in pandering to the needs of a party of 7, very rude, people who they had no seats available for as they were all taken. After twice asking a French woman and her children if they could move, we were asked to move tables. We were sat eating and drinking but instead of moving a table to the side of the table vacated by the French family, we were asked to move. So we picked up our bags, coats, food, drinks and all our produce purchased from the shop and we were placed near the serving area. As I said, this is a lovely cafe which we always patronise, but that was rude today especially given the rudeness of the entitled party of 7. We have visited before when there were no tables and it was tough. But for the man in the kitchen money was a motivation I think, even though we had spent as much, proportionally. But at least the middle class rudeness got them what they wanted, they didn't even thank us for moving. Not even the offer of a free coffee.

What a delight this was. Wonderful drive with fantastic scenery all the way. Great walks to Moy Castle, the stone circle and the beaches too. Good car parking and outside seating. The food…oh my goodness! Absolute heaven. We had mussels, trout and salmon salad and the open steak sandwich. Great portions, fantastic food, even though they were incredibly busy. Went back after our walk for tea and cake, huge slices from a impressive homemade selection and sat outside in the sun to have them. Superb lunch, thank you

Delicious salmon and haddock salad, soups with mouth-watering cheese scones that kept us toasty on a chilly day and some yummy chocolate brownies. My partner and I stayed nearby the Old Post Office for two days as we travelled with our van and made the most of it. Very much enjoyed all the fresh meals and cakes, cooked from local ingredients and with a sprinkle of love! And as it was beach clean-up day, we even got a cappuccino with a cake in return for a bag full of rubbish. Thank you, we’ll be back for sure!

Bit of a trek to find it but it kept us warm and well fed on a cold, windy and rainy Scottish day! We both had the soup which was tasty, we had a bit of food envy with other dishes coming out though. I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place
