Cosy pub facing sea.outside sitting area.made to feel welcome.thursday night is music night.locals take there instruments and sing,what a night.all drinks are good.The pub is in portbanatine.there is a local buss from kilkatten and rothsey,or if you are up to it it's a lovely walk all along the coast.when on the isle of bute always pay a couple of visits.

We went to the Anchor Tavern with friends for a drink. It's a really lovely little community owned pub. Well worth a visit. Very friendly, with a lovely warming fire to give it a truly cozy feel. 👍

I was only in the Hub for a glass of wine. Lovely wine, good view, nice and clean. I was the only customer though.

This is a community run pub and is excellent. While they don't serve food, they happily let you order from local takeaways and provide plates and cutlery. Thursday evening is music jam night from 7:30 and not to be missed if you are in the area. Great staff and a great atmosphere. A short walk from the marina.

A rainy Monday afternoon in September. What to do? Find a gem is the answer! There’s not many places I have been where the warm welcome has been instant and genuine. Pauline behind the bar is entertaining and funny, it was lovey talking to the locals - all keen for a chat. This is a community run pub - if only we could all have one

Our club met here for drinks, and soup and sandwiches. It was excellent, with pleasant service, tasty food and drink, and reasonable prices.

Had the pleasure of attending the Thursday night jam at the Anchor Tavern during our one week holiday to Bute. Warmly received by all this is a great pub to visit — especially after 18 at Port Bannatyne GC. Thanks for all the Tennents.

This community owned pub has a great selection of beers and spirits, including locally produced beer and gin. The staff and volunteers are friendly and welcoming.

Absolutely amazing, best atmosphere I have witnessed since the 1990’s, we ordered in a Chinese takeaway there, they provided plates and cutlery. Music was amazing also.

Great bar. Lovely walk there from Rothesay and always friendly with great staff. Their pints are good and a good selection of bar snacks. Log fire is nice on a winter’s day! Highly recommend.

Have been in this lovely little local quite a few times now. Whenever we visit Bute we pop in. There are good beers on draught (including craft beer) and always a friendly welcome. In the winter a cosy fire and great little jam nights every week. It's a real community pub with a family feel and some wonderful characters. Looking forward to my next visit 😊

Great selection of drinks, amazing atmosphere - sought refuge from the December cold in this wee community pub on the way to our accommodation in Port Bannatyne after dinner in Ardbeg. Very warm welcome, extremely cosy atmosphere, there’s even a fireplace! So grateful to have stumbled upon this place!

Friendly pub in a lovely old fishing village frequented by locals and visitors. Darts, TV and just opened a new pool room. Well worth a visit. Update, recently taken over by the community, a very well organised body of local residents who look after the pub and it's clientele. No food available at the moment, but you can order from the local takeaway and the pub supply the cutlery and plates. Lot's of live music and plenty of good beer 🍺.

Every time we visit The Anchor, we are welcomed back with smiles, warmth, and the kindest hospitality. My fiancé and his family have close ties with the Port and the community.

Always a pleasure to drop into this friendly and well run pub. That it is community owned is an added bonus. A real service to locals and visitors alike. There is a good selection of draft beers on offer including Fyne ales and an excellent gantry of spirits including Bute Gins. The venue has music nights and events. Within walking distance of Port Bannatyne marina.

Popped in for a few one late afternoon whilst on holiday made to feel really welcome nice choice of drinks great service proper local pub under £8 quid gor 2 pints really good value and fog friendly would highly recommend thanks.

We were there too late for food from anywhere, so can't comment. A great initiative: a community pub in a beautiful bay area with a yacht marina on Bute. We moored in the marina and arrived late on the quiz night, and squeezed onto seats at the end of a table, a great atmosphere. (A great quiz - good questions and well researched and produced with printed picture/visual rounds too.) Good beer, welcoming staff, good service. We brought guitar & mandolin & sang a few songs in harmony after the quiz. The crowd/patrons/shareholders/committee was very appreciative & asked us back soon!

Attended one of their locals music nights on a Thursday. We moored overnight at port bannatyne marina as part of a tour round. Great fun and good music! Memorable. They have takeaway menus and we ordered curry to the pub. Pub supply plates etc for free. Very cheap drinks! Busy friendly atmosphere

Pub owned by the local community. Definitely worth a visit. Does have Guinness and Tennet on tap. Also offers local beer in bottles. Every Thursday there is a Jam session by the locals which is very lively and the pub comes to full life.

What a difference to what used to be the Off Sales. A lot of work has been put in to make it what it is today. I've been to the newly opened hub twice now, the home baking was absolutely delicious, every detail was catered for. The lady who served us was very polite, chatty, did the baking, and made our experience all the better. We will definitely be back. The very best of luck for the future of the Anchor Tavern and Hub.

A great wee community owned pub that's beautifully situated in the Port. Live Music on a Tuesday and Thursday and a quiz night at the end of the month. Lovely staff and friendly, welcoming locals make this a must visit if you're in Bute. Will definitely be back😊

Excellent spot. Was there on music night (thursday) good local musicians with a mix of tradional and contemporary music. Great atmosphere. A must visit as we did again on the Friday. Highly recomended. Ps excellent local gins !!

Had a rattling good night on Saturday at the Anchor whilst over-nighting at the marina - lovely atmosphere and made lots of new friends. Staff great and very helpful in organising our takeaway! Highly recommended - please support them as this is a community -owned pub!!

We are now a friendly community pub & hub undergoing refurbishment. We shall be open by Easter 2022 and everyone is welcome.

Five dizzy blondes...arrived soaked through and mud to our knees after 18 miles tramping along the West Island Way in pouring rain. What a warm welcome and what a great pint! Fantastic little pub. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks so much 🍺😍

Good for some drinks, reasonable price. Right be side the beach, good for a hot day or a stopping point on your daily stroll.

Friendly place, where the locals go and chat, the TV is on if you prefer. Most importantly they keep a good pint in here which you can enjoy as above or whilst watching the view out across Kames Bay. There's a bus service almost to the door too so no need to drive either.
