I'd taken a wrong turn on the Way of the Roses and passed a sign for this place, so went for second breakfast and a decent cup of tea. It was tasty and well presented, reasonable but not large. It was a friendly reception. More like a place I'd go for a leisurely breakfast with friends - hungry cyclists is probably not their target market.

Our cycling group had ridden some twenty odd miles from Ingleton and were ready for a bite to eat and a hot drink. The cafe was busy, but they set us up with a table for five. Teas and a coffee arrived okay. We waited a bit for our food, but it arrived as ordered. I had the Shepherd pie off the specials menu which was priced at £9.00. It came on an oval plate, in a glass ramekin with a handfull of chopped lettuce and a small dish of beetroot. It was the strangest Shepherds pie I'd ever tasted. The topping was more than likely powedered potatoe as there was no richness to it and it was well sunken in the middle. I dug around with my forkl expecting some stewed lamb, but the filling was almost wholly an insipid mixture of diced tomatoe and peas. I did find a sliver of meat near the bottom, but it wasn't even a mouthful. The meal was completely misrepresented on the menu and in the event it was very poor value for money. If anyone is out walking or cycling, give this place a wide berth. You'd fair far better by going next door to the Coop for a bag of sandwiched and a pork pie.

We visited this adorable cafe with family, what a fabulous little place. The weather was lovely and customers were availing themselves of the outside space as well as the small inside area. We enjoyed delicious homemade cakes: earl grey tea cake loaf, raspberry frangipane and an almond macaroon, just fabulous. With excellent welcoming service, fabulous food and cosy decor, this cafe is a delightful place to visit. Highly recommended.

Fantastic hidden gem, breakfast is served until 11.45am, the food is delicious, highly recommend, great for walkers, dog walkers, local people, coming off the motorway for a break, for cyclists it's right near the main route of the way of the roses, Pendle witches trail, lands end of John o gaunt.

My twin brother and I were exploring around this part of the city when we decided to drop by The Runner Duck Wine Room and what a great find. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here interior is cool, its only small but superb, light and airy, lovely decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options, it's just a great bar to chill out in. We ordered a cheese and ham board each plus white wines ,wines were served cold and sparkling and cheese and hams were totally delicious, absolutely fantastic, its hardly surprising that this bar is so popular with wines and food of this quality, add to this the great staff and you have a great bar. We moved on after our wines, cheese and ham ,had a great time, can't wait to go again next time we're in Lancaster. The Runner Duck Wine Room is easy to locate along King Street. Opening hours are; Monday, closed. Tuesday to Thursday, open from 4pm. Friday, open from 2pm. Saturday & Sunday, open from midday. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.
