Lovely cafe hidden a bit but very nice indeed, shame it was absolutely pouring down as it kept the town very quiet, although it’s outside eating plenty of room to stay dry, definitely worth going as the food great and the owners very welcoming

We visited with family in the Easter school holidays and discovered this hidden gem close to the library and park. It is a great outdoor cafe with a covered area and cosy wicker seating plus tables right next to the river, great little suntrap! We popped in here twice for a cuppa and some delicious homemade cakes, very welcoming and nice to support a family run local business. I really liked it as the tables were nicely spaced, as a lot of the eateries in the village just didn't have the spacious feeling. A great relaxed vibe and when we are next back look forward to popping back.

You sit outside. Which is nice. All manner of tasty things on the menu. It's by the river & they have outside heaters for chillier occasions I shall be returning.

We had a wonderful time at the old library garden cafe today. Even though the weather was drizzly and cold we sat in the warmth under cover in the prettiest log cabin dining room. Twinkly lights and pretty decorations make this a lovely spot to enjoy lunch and linger with family or friends. We had a view of the river tame outside and can see how lovely a summer visit would be too. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our food was fantastic and delicious. We had roast beef sandwiches with a very good gravy and salads and root vegetable soup which was excellent. The coffee was very good and my niece had a very nice hot chocolate with marshmallows and a flake and it looked amazing. We look forward to coming back again soon.

We arrived quite close to closing time and the staff were really welcoming and very accommodating to our family, bringing a high chair and finding us a suitable place to sit. You access the cafe down a lot of steps but then you emerge into a lovely cosy place to sit by the river, with plenty of shelter for bad weather. We enjoyed milkshakes and hot chocolate, all lovely.

We turned up a bit early and they set up a table for us with a heater and took our order. The breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked and just perfect. They were more than happy to swap items on the breakfast and were very helpful and polite. We recommend this place. It’s got a lovely set up and very pretty.

We've visited several times since the new owners took over in the midst of the covid pandemic. The cafe is in a great location by the river, lots of fresh air and outdoor space to social distance. Spotlessly clean and all the required safety measures are in place. This is a great place to enjoy a meal or drink. The food is freshly prepared and delicious with vegetarian and gluten free options. A great and varied choice of yummy cakes and the coffee is excellent too. We've also enjoyed craft beer, cocktails and amazing milkshakes on our visits. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Dogs are welcome too and get their own little treat. Brilliant value compared to many of it's competitors. If you want great food and drink in a lovely safe setting this is the place for you.

Went hear a few days ago and considering the current climate the atmosphere was relaxed and chilled out. Our sandwiches and teas were lovely. The staff were friendly, the social distancing stuff was followed by our fellow customers which was heartening. All in all a lovely experience.

On our second visit to The old Library Garden we decided to order some lunch, the menu is simple & the food was very nice, we both had salads which were served with a smile, nice place to spend an hour or so right in the heart of Uppermill.

After a walk around Dovestone reservoir we discovered this hidden garden behind the old library in Uppermill. The staff are super smiley and friendly and the food plentiful and tasty. We were given blankets as despite the sun it was chilly. Highly recommend the roast beef baguette with caramelised onions and a jug of hot gravy . It is dog friendly . The selling point is the warmest welcome ever. Downside - steep steps up / down to the garden .

An outdoor cafe at the back of the library building. A flight of about a dozen stairs to the wooden tabled cafe area. A few different levels and tables of varying sizes. Order at a hut /wooden counter and coffee/tea delivered to table. A small kitchen and unisex toilet is in the basement of the main building almost level with the counter. Not easily accessible to the less able.Just coffee/tea and cake bought on this visit but all was nice and delivered by friendly staff.I think a coffee and cake offer applies if you do both but this wasn't explained and our group paying in pairs had different prices for the same type of order ?It's a nice site though with the river along one side and large trees overhead. A wooden canopy covered section was dry and great on this wet afternoon visit.
