We booked a gender reveal party for family and friends months in advance , only to turn up on the day of the event to be told we can’t accommodate the event as we’ve ran out of beer? Sorry but did you not know this party was happening months in advance? We then had to find somewhere to host event without help or support from staff at the Piper and try to contact everyone who was coming! Not a phone call, apology nothing from the manager, What little regard they clearly have of their customers! Absolute Disgrace!!! Wouldn’t recommend at all for events!!! Upstairs room tired , dirty, shabby, ripped mix matched seating, upstairs toilet not in use, lights hanging off walls Do not book function room until you’ve looked at it in person it’s shocking!

Came for a Sunday dinner and were made to wait an hour for our food. We weren’t told the wait would be this long and asked multiple times where our food was. On arrival the meat was dry, the vegetables were raw and the Yorkshire puddings weren’t cooked properly. When the food was brought out to us, we were told we needed to be out within the hour due to people the space reserved. Had we known the waiting time was over an hour we would have went somewhere else to eat. I won’t be returning here. 2 out of the four of us left most of the food.

Haven’t visited for a while but was pleased to see that nothing had really changed. Lovely atmosphere, clean and plenty seating. Food was excellent and generous portions for the ‘medium’ choice. Staff friendly and helpful. Can recommend (would suggest booking if food is wanted) but nevertheless a pleasant place and worth a visit

Wonderful meal, Yorkshire puddings were amazing. Huge portions of roast beef with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding together with carrots, broccoli, swede and mashed potatoes served in separate tureens and with a delicious gravy boat. So much food I couldn't eat it all but what I had was great.

The Lasagne I ordered was inedible as the pasta was very hard. I was immediately offered another meal or a refund. I was also given a profuse apology. I ordered the Scampi instead, which was very nice. My husband had the fish, which was a bit small, but tasty, as were the chips. We both had desserts which were also very good.

Great local pub with really friendly attentive staff. Had a meal in here New Years Eve, food was fantastic and great service. Would definitely recommend this place for food and drinks

Lovely pub . Friendly staff & we had lovely bar man called John so funny & very welcoming. Ordered 2 full English breakfasts & it tasted amazing , good quality ingredients. Lovely outside area too with kids small park area too . Off the beaten track & would recommend. 5⭐️ . Apparently the Sunday dinner is amazing too the locals say 👍🏼

Great pub..excellent freshly cooked food in a comfortable atmosphere and a roaring fire...what more could you ask for. Oh nearly forgot to mention the great bar staff.

Went for evening meal with my husband our son and two grandsons aged 11 and 13. We all had something different and it was all freshly cooked and delicious. Friendly staff was an added bonus. Recommend this place

Great food for Burns Night Supper - Excellent service too. This was the first time we had visited the place and we were impressed by a very warm welcome. Looking forward to going back and trying more food on the menu.

You know what, this place does what it says on the tin. It’s a decent pub for food, staff are sound and it’s more than reasonable. I got mince and dumplings, a pork Sunday lunch, pint of cider and a pint shandy for £26... you can’t knock it.

Lovely cosy pub serving tasty meals. I've been here twice. One was for an evening meal on a busy Friday night and we were served quickly with tasty home made traditional meals. Lunch was equally nice. Mince and dumplings, American chicken burger and chicken parmo. All were served quickly and the bar man was full of anecdotes and cheerful chat, making us feel very welcome. The pub was abit cold so take a jumper.

We got most of the family together and decided to go to the piper for tea We had drinks when we sat down Then they all chose a variety of meals The kids went to the park which is in the grounds after they played we then had the meals of everything from sausage mash potatoes and gravy to the mixed grill And various others all were happy with what they chose and was very tasty I may add The kids were happy and the adults We will definitely go back it was very good Staff were great and costs were reasonable it is rightly called a hidden gem

Visited here for the first after a recommendation from a freind and wasn't disappointed food was amazing but what made my day was the bartender Mark who went out his way to help me with my drink order to my table even though they looked as if they were rushed of there feet the little things matter will definitely recommend this place to everyone else

A lovely pub with a great garden. The staff were friendly and the food was good. I particularly enjoyed the chips! We came twice during our stay in Gosforth and would come back again.

No he estado aquí en años y me complace que hayamos decidido visitarnos. Pasamos un hermoso día soleado en los jardines para que nuestros hijos pudieran jugar en el equipo del parque. Pedimos nuestra comida en el bar, excelente servicio y personal amable que se ofreció a ayudarnos a volver a nuestras mesas afuera con nuestras bebidas. Nuestra comida variaba desde comidas para niños, carne picada y albóndigas, pescado y papas fritas hasta entrantes de pollo y todos estaban recién hechos, sabrosos y de buena calidad. Era un ambiente encantador y muy amigable para los niños. Definitivamente regresaremos de nuevo.

We recently visited here and were instantly made to feel very welcome by both staff and locals. Thanks to the bar and kitchen staff and the landlady. we hope to see you again very soon!

came her for Christmas dinner with my daughter and grand daughter and although it was extremely busy we enjoyed it immensely the pub was decorated beautifully and the staff were really friendly and helpful. the food was outstanding i had the soup which was full of flavour and lovely followed by traditional turkey dinner which was nothing less than amazing they even went out there way to make a few changes to my granddaughters meal as she is a very fussy eater then i had the Christmas pudding to finish which was also lovely the portion sizes were huge and would highly recommend to everyone this is the first Christmas i have went out for lunch but after my experience i will definitely be back thank you to all the staff for making our Christmas a wonderful day.

Enjoyed a great night with friends for our annual Christmas meal get together, we were allocated a side room to ourselves which was decorated and had Christmas tunes playing, which meant we could singalong as we wished!!

Visited here and got confronted with a very flippant exaggerated can't be bothered type attitude by the barman when paying by card, was quite taken aback. The bar was not even busy, terrible way to treat customers and as such we won't be customers again!

Since my last review in August we have been back several times and never been disappointed. On a recent visited we noticed that on the last Saturday of the month the pub held a ‘tapas’ night £20 for eight dishes for 2 persons and a glass each of sangria – so we decided to book for Saturday 24th November. To say we were pleased is an understatement. All the eight dishes were freshly cooked and extremely tasty. You have to wait a little longer for freshly cooked food but it was worth it and would highly recommend it – will be back.

Stumbled across this little gem of a pub by accident. Me and my pals went in had a few pints and tried there yorkshire pud wraps and mince and dumplings took a little while to come but as it advertised it was home cooked we didnt mind and boy was it worth the wait absolutely gawjus the staff cudnt be more helpful and tge atmosphere was unreal was like being in a little country pub but near a housing estate will defo be back defo worth a visit and if the suns out the best beer garden ive ever seen

Years since I have visited this establishment so we decided to go for Sunday lunch-a big mistake I can honestly say it’s the worst lunch I've ever had -rock hard potatoes undercooked veggies and meat you would need a hacksaw not a knife to cut I could say more but feel as if it’s best to think of this as a bad experience and ensure neither my family or friends waste their time or money visiting this place.

As always, lovely surroundings, nice atmosphere, quite busy but nowhere near full on a Saturday night.

This is my local pub which I normally drink in. Tried the food today which was lovely. Although the bar Was busy we were served quickly. Great to see the local pub buzzing and we will definitely go back.

Spur of the moment visit for lunch which turned out to be a great experience The menu of pub classics was varied & very reasonably priced. The food was of high quality & the service was excellent.The pub is in a lovely setting with a large outdoor seating area which is ideal for the summer months.

Looking forward to a relaxing Sunday lunch with friends.

Visited the Piper 3 times in the last week. Scampi and chips mushy peas. Corned beef pie and tonight OAP special. All beautifully cooked and plenty of it. Lovely staff. Great atmosphere.

With the weather being lovely today decided to pop into the Northumbria Piper for lunch, must say the outside area is looking outstanding, Outside play area is looking amazing for the kids wish I was ten years younger. waited for around 15-20mins for dinner and was taking back by how big the lunches are must say the food was outstanding. Just like to say thank you to Joanne and her team in the kitchen for the food and The bar staff who are very friendly and always will to help.

My partner and I were pretty peckish on a lovely summers evening. We decided to try the Northumbrian piper as it was on our to try list. I had the vegetarian curry and he had the chicken burger. The prices were very cheap. He really enjoyed the burger. My curry was huge, with chips and rice AND naan. The best part was the chips, home made and delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were very friendly. The beer garden is big, can't wait to go back for some food and a relax.

I visit this friendly pub most weekends with my family. I travel from middlesbrough to come for a fabulous Sunday dinner. This pub is one of the few places in the north East to do a vegetarian option (nut roast- which is beautiful). Staff bend over backwards for you, always happy & polite.

Went in to meet friends for a bite to eat, what on Earth has happened to the place. Food was horrendous and then they let the local druggie back in to top it off. Been a regular visitor here for years but will definitely not be back and will make sure I inform all of my friends and family how much the place has gone downhill

My wife and I visited for the first time last Friday evening. The whole place, inside and out was quite busy, so it made for a nice atmosphere. We found a nice quiet table for two inside and left the families to enjoy the bouncy castle etc outside. We both opted for the Friday special of fish and chips, mushy peas & a pot of tea. It was all fantastic, the fish was tasty, the chips just melted in your mouth. The meal was served very promptly considering how busy it was. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. We will certainly be back.

Cracking deal 2 steaks and a bottle of wine £22 5-9 o’clock only I think , happy hour 5-7 pm so worked out nicely, nice outside area to sit when weather permits !

We’re local to the Piper and have had a fair few Sunday lunches over the years. We visited at around 3pm on Sunday 13th May and honestly had what was probably the best Sunday lunch from here that we’ve ever had. Can’t quite put out finger on why, but the lamb that we both had was cooked to perfection, the vegetables had a lot of flavour and the Yorkshire puddings were huge and, again, full of flavour. The service was very quick too by a very friendly member of staff and the owner, but the food is highly recommended. Will be hurrying back.

We called in for lunch which is a regular occurrence for us as the food is usually lovely. I ordered the fish finger sandwich. When it arrived I was not impressed - the fish was full of large bones (3 x 1" bones in the first mouthful). the batter was incredibly greasy and it was inside 2 thin slices of nasty white bread. The last time I had this it came in a ciabatta . After struggling through half of the soggy mess I had to leave the rest. My families meals were fine.

I recently visited the Northumbrian Piper with friends for Sunday lunch, the food was amazing! It was all piping hot & the meat was so tender. The service was one of the best I’ve received especially for how busy it was, all the staff were very friendly & helpful. There was plenty of choice, as well as a good selection of children’s meals. It was really good value for the food as well as the drinks. I will definitely be returning.

It’s been done up but that’s about it, the food and service was terrible waited over 45 minutes for food that when served was hardly warm. The chips were terrible, very greasy and looked like they’d been threatened with the fryer! Won’t be returning which is a shame as it’s on my doorstep!

My friends and I have been lunching at The Piper for years now. We've always had a decent meal, friendly service and, until now, the place to ourselves! Now, it's packed, and I have to say I can understand why. Word gets around. The place has been refurbished, inside and out, and it's been done to a high standard. Katy looked after us, but wasn't overpowering. The food is good and reasonably priced. The only problem I can foresee, is that we won't be able to get a seat in future.

Recently visited the Northumbrian piper after its refurbishment, impressed with the new decor and the place was really busy. However to be served by a male member of staff who had obviously been drinking during his shift or before hand was a bit of a shock to say the least! Over heard the people who were stood next to us had been served the wrong drinks by the same member of staff which indicates he clearly wasn’t focused on his job. Would of been 5 star rating had it not of been for this young male being drunk behind the bar!

Back from a lovely sunny day up the North East coast and then headed to this hidden gem in Gosforth , there were six of us and as it been a very sunny day it plainly been very busy but they got us seated quick enough and Katy was so helpful , explained what they had sold out of , the menu is standard pub grub but I have to say done well , the food took a while to come but was plainly freshly cooked so worth the wait , we had fish n chips , chicken fajita , gammon n eggs , chicken burger , Caesar salad , Cajun chicken , all really good value for money , good service even when really busy , worth a try

Last night we had a 90th birthday party for my mother at 'the Piper', it couldn't have been better. So many people who were there have contacted me saying what a great time they had, and all of them commented on the buffet. Freshly made sandwiches, home made pies and quiches, Indian selection and much more. Many thanks to the staff too.

Following a recent refurbishment we have visited a couple of times. The decoration is in keeping with the age of the building with some modern ideas that work well. The work outside in the garden area has been a big improvement although not tried out due to the weather. There is still scope to further improve the main grassed areas. The menu has also been updated and the meals are lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A big improvement.

Visited this venue tonight 30/03. Really made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door, the place has been refurbished to a high standard and is very well done and cosy. We had a lovely steak which was perfectly cooked, beautiful chips etc an excellent meal all round. The service was great, quick, polite and friendly. It is obvious that a lot of money and thought has gone into the improvements and I sincerely wish the owners every success, we will certainly be back. To sum up, it can be a little difficult to find (set sat nav) but WELL worth a visit.

The owner has spent £180k refurbishing after a 3-4 week closure.

We popped in for an early drink as part of a Wednesday night walk and we're pleased to see how busy it was. We didn't eat but the menu sounded nice and the food passing us looked great.

My friend and I enjoyed a delicious meal of freshly fried fish and homemade chips. Portion size was generous and even more importantly, the food was tasty!

Decided to try out our other local for a change so came here for dinner, the barmaid was friendly enough for my liking, told us to sit where we liked, restaurant side was empty apart from one other couple, it was cold in there so didn’t take coat off. I didn’t fancy a full meal so just wanted to try the Thai fishcakes and a bowl

Having read previous reviews I am really shocked!! We had a great time on a Friday night for a birthday celebration! Six of us had starters, mains and desserts and everyone enjoyed what they had. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The place was freezing and had no atmosphere at all. Poor service at the bar, we presented our voucher only for it to be scrutinised and then told "yea what burger do you want?" I asked for a menu only to be told "No menu it's either a burger with or without cheese".

Two of us called in here for a quick bite at lunchtime. We both opted for the home made burger and chips. It was very good, freshly prepared and a substantial portion. We did not have a dessert as this was enough for us at the time. The pub is well hidden off the main road and has recently been taken over. We wish the new owners well and are happy to recommend this traditional local pub to anyone eating out in the area.

The Piper is now under new management and what a difference it has made. The decor/furniture could do with an update but the food is much improved - I had the goats cheese parcels thinking it would be small (starter) not so . Luckily I only had this, if I'd had this as a starter and then a main course I would have struggled and left most of it. Hopefully things will continue to improve as the pub has the potential to be fabulous. Even better now that they take card!

Me and my partner came here just out of luck as it's pretty tucked away.. I had goats cheese parcel and chicken goujons, both very tasty and freshly made!! My partner had the homemade soup and chips, all very tasty and clearly fresh! We'll be back for a main sometime in the near future!!

After less than 12 months the pub chain who bought it pulled out, it closed for almost a week and it reopened after the purchase by a local bar owner.

popped into the piper on Mothers Day with my family and I must say the staff are very friendly and we all loved the food, so we decided to pop in on Fathers Day and I must say that it's improved 100% since last time and the New staff was very helpfull and friendly too and the food was outstanding cooked to perfection,, must say that the place has moved on since Dec and the New Managerment are doing a great job.

Arrived at the Northumberland Piper during my lunch break along with my work colleague only to be greeted by a bunch of youths sitting inside the pub making sexual remarks towards us on our entrance. We ignored them but felt intimidated by their presence.To cap our bad experience off our Food was not very pleasant to say the least,very drab and not looking very appertising plus not hot ,this was a real let down as we were both looking forward to the advertised Home Cooking.I believe these issues need attending to.

Having checked the website prior to visiting on Sunday 6th May and seen there stated that Sunday meals were available 12-7pm, we arrived at 6.25pm to be told they'd stopped serving food at 5:30pm. Disappointed I mentioned that the website said they served food till 7pm and I was to!d that I must have looked at their old website. It's a pet gripe I have, the number of places with an online presence that do not keep their information up to date. Having looked back on the internet, I can find no other website for this location and it definitely still clearly states that food is served till 7pm on a Sunday.We have eaten here before and enjoyed it, but had to find an alternate venue on this occasion.

Was here on easter sunday and had a fantastic day! Had the beef dinner which was lovely restaurant was busy but everything ran smoothly and dinner all came out together. Cheese board afterwards was delicious and the cheesecake also looked lovely! Later on in afternoon to our delight a soul band came on was such a good atmosphere really enjoyable! Will definately be back for sunday lunch again!

We have popped in a couple of times for food. The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent. The food is amazing. We will definitely be going back! The beer garden is huge for the Summer and even has a park for the kids.

Just poppedIn for a couple of pints from work and couldn't believe I walk into a Irish band and DJ got to say the bar staff are lovely and Glenn the manager was really friendly, looks like this is the place to be in at the minute..

Decided to pop in for dinner on Sunday. We both ordered the chicken dinner. Was expecting something really decent considering we paid over £20 for two dinners and two soft drinks.. the roast potatoes were burnt and the mash was lumpy. The Yorkshire puddings looked lovely but tasted of nothing. The side dish of vegetables consisted of limp cabbage, hard carrots and what I assume was turnip. Really disappointing quality of food and I can't say I'll be back. Nobody came to our table to check how our food was, I'm wondering if that's because they didn't want to hear the answer. I'm sure someone will ask why we didn't make a complaint but to be honest it's standard customer service to do a food check part way through a meal and if that procedure had of been followed I would of expressed my disappointment that way.

What a great place! Came for a valentines meal and couldn't eat the dessert as we were so full. Such good food and fabulous atmosphere. The staff were fantastic. If you've not been here before you're missing out.

I visited the Northumbrian Piper at around 2:30pm on Sunday 8th January for a Sunday lunch for 2 people. The staff at the bar served me extremely quickly and the food was served 10-15 minutes after we sat down. It was very hot, very tasty and the whole meal was really lovely. We have been several times before and it's always been very very nice. I would certainly recommend the Sunday lunches as the size of the portion was also fantastic. Well done to the chef and staff on when we visited.

Just had Sunday lunch here and it was really good. The staff were friendly and attentive. I had a booking but rang half an hour before to change the time as we were running late and this wasn't a problem. The food was great and all fresh and homemade. I had the beef but my daughter had chicken and beef, all lovely. I struggle to find places that do a good homemade Sunday dinner as I cook a canny one myself or so its been said lol but this one was a winner. I will defo go back.

Gradually seen reviews of this place suggesting decline but, as we'd always mainly liked it, came on Bank Holiday. The 1st bad sign was the place was dead.That said the Ice Witch beer from Moorhouse Brewery was great; menu wise there were a few choices on the blackboard in addition to their impossible to read normal menu.We went off the blackboard and chose the corned beef pie, mushy peas and "home cut" chips. No idea whose home they were cut in but it might have been Mr McCains before they were then frozen. Cutting corners there because another dish came out to another table with genuine home cut chips. The slice of pie was tiny too.Was also a bit worried when heard someone in the kitchen referencing something which was out of date and did not seem to understand difference between "use by" and "best before". Even then I would hate to think they'd serve anything beyond best before dates.So having defended it at the start the new owners don't seem to have made a good start. I might wait a few good months to see if it picks up before heading back.

Booked this pub for Christmas lunch family of three, We were seated for 1o clock,we waited 35 minutes for our starters, which was vegetable broth, no taste at all.Christmas lunch arrived which me and my daughter had the turkey and husband had the belly pork, turkey had no taste at all and the belly pork tasteless and not crispy like it should be.The pudding we had the cheese board, well what can i say, the whole "slab of brie" noeffort all all as gone into the meal. No tea or coffee after the meal was asked. Just wanting you out by 3oclock.Management and Chef need to up there game.Will be not returning very disappointed/by the service and cost.

We used to visit most weekends and enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Not the case on our last visit. Large quantity of tasteless food, no atmosphere and really didn't like the look of the place including the tatty menu . We won't be back which is a shame as we used to enjoy 'our local'. We used to use the pub for meetings but following a recent dreadful lunch we will go elsewhere.

Recently visited the piper which is a pub we have very often frequented and what a shame the place has deteriorated to what it is now. It used to be a fun family pub with a happy and cheerful group of staff and a great atmosphere and now the staff seem so unhappy and the place was flat. Not the usual bustling place it was. Management what have you done to this fantastic pub????

My husband and I with 2 friends had Sunday lunch here. It was delicious. Food was beautifully cooked and piping hot. Portions were very generous with plenty of meat. Would definitely recommend this pub and will be going back again.

Over the years we have had some fantastic food at the Piper and the elderly In Laws, in their eighties love the place. We took them along for their 57th Anniversary as they requested and booked a table for six.We ordered Starters of Olives and Warm Breads, another Warm Breads and a Prawn Cocktail. The bread must have been off the own brand value shelf as it was bland with no taste, still trying to work out how the limp plate of bread was supposed to represent the description of Warm Breads where the vision was of an appeetising plate of warm crusty bread ?! We went for two of the Grill Night Specials which was 2 Grilled meals and a bottle of house white, great value at £20. A Burger and a Chicken and Prawn Skewer was the other two mains.The meals were a massive let down and no one enjoyed their choice of food. The Chicken and Prawn Skewer was a joke as none of us could tell whet was the Chicken and what was a Prawn! The Gammon was like a dried bit of Bacon and was over cooked and had no taste. Burger dry as sticks. We all had to use as much Ketchup and mayo to get the food down. The Wine was nice. Sorry but so poor and we will not be going back.

We went to the piper for Sunday lunch, I ordered beef, my friend ordered pork. The meals arrived promptly but we were dis appointed with the quantity of veg, it looked more like a good portion for one rather than for two, however there was just enough so we said nothing. The meat was good, but the roast potatoes were poor and the mash was disgusting. It was full of big lumps of barely cooked potato. I complained about this, the staff were apologetic and didn't charge for my meal. I doubt we'd ever go back.

Delicious Roast Dinner and lovely service. Plenty of meat, which was really tender and homemade gravy. Not too busy either. Would recommend.

Huge helpings of food served quickly with very friendly staff. Inexpensive and good value - just a bit too much use of the deep fat frier imho.

Was a bit apprehensive because of recent reviews, change of ownership and temporary management. With those changes has come a more limited but still decent menu.Fear not. Thought our food was excellent. Steak and ale pie was as good as ever and the chips were great too. My wife's chicken fajitas were decent too.Drinks were fine (house wine a bit sharp) and everything was OK. Whether or not owners plan improvements to interior and further menu changes remains to be seen. But in the meantime remains a good local option for us.

The menu said 'from the grill', the food we ordered was not from any grill I know of.We all opted for surf and turf skewers with fries, what we got was chicken direct from freezer with prawns again I believe to be frozen pushed on to skewers and served with chip s. I went for teriyaki sauce which was terrible my companions went for BBQ which was equally terrible.We were obviously intruding on the quiz night and were told several times to shush !never again !

We have been going here for years and have always really enjoyed it. We have noticed a slip in recent years however we're now pleased to see that this had been taken over and hopefully things are now moving forward again. We've been there twice since the new owners have been in and love the new menu.

Went here yesterday to find out that the pub has changed hands. Clearly the chef has left with the old owners. I ordered fish and chips and mushy peas. Some of the chips were rock hard and not cooked, the fish although large, was distinctly odd tasting and certainly not cod or haddock. My companion had steak and chips. She said the steak was uneatable and also her chips were not properly cooked. I hope that this is just a one off bad experience and wish the new owners best of luck. I recommend employing someone who can cook!!!

After asking Google for nearby pubs, I saw this one pop up which I had never heard of and is literally only around the corner from my house! I would never have found it but so glad I did. My boyfriend and I ordered a bite to eat for lunch and oh my goodness, there was enough for 4 people!! I had the chicken tikka wrap which was in fact two wraps! The chips were to die for. My boyfriend has the special, a roast beef baguette and chips which was also enormous, fresh and delicious. Incredible value and a lovely pub with a huge garden. Going back for grill night tonight! 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £20. Fantastic. Cant wait for some more of those chips!

A member of our party had previously been here and was not disappointed, therefore decided it would be a good choice for lunch. Unfortunately, there only appeared to be one member of staff on who was serving the food and drinks; also there is a limited lunchtime menu. The place obviously had too many customers for one person to handle on their own. There were 7 of us in our party, we had pre booked the day before and started by ordering our food/drinks at the bar. There was no flexibility on the menu; i don't eat beef and wanted to substitute the beef sausage in the trio sausage for a pork one but I was told this would not be possible which is fair enough I guess. On a limited menu, this makes options even less. Also, I noted there were no vegetarian options other than a jacket potatoe - lucky my folks didn't come as originally planned (they are vegetarian)!The food took some time to be served and even then it came out in dribs and drabs. As such, we were not all able to start eating at the same time. Also, the food was cold which i think was a combination of it being sat in the kitchen for some time and then at our tables. I was a little disappointed to say the least. The staff member we encountered did a fantastic job given the circumstances she was working under. It was obvious she was trying to serve our food whilst serving drinks to other customers. However, given we had pre booked, I was disappointed with both the food and general service. Maybe this place would be ok if you are just going for drinks.

A warm midweek night and unusually not working away prompted my seriously better half to suggest a walk here.Recent reviews suggest they might be moving on (?) and having contacted them after my last review as requested they did not get back to me.This time the menu seems to have been cut back a bit. The venison I had tried to get on the previous 2 occasions was no longer on the menu.We had steak pie and piper sausages. Portions a little smaller than normal and the chips (with the pie) were a bit undercooked (previously we've had some of the best chips here!). The steak in the pie was delicious. Lady who took plates away didn't even ask how any of it was.Supported here fairly regularly but just sense it's starting to slip a bit.
