We visited the New York bar for their pre-theatre menu, and the wagyu sandwiches were very good—I’d rate them 4/5. However, I would have liked the waiter to refill my water more often, as I had an empty glass for 20 minutes and had to ask. On the plus side, they were much quicker with refilling the champagne! The cheesecake, made from the owner’s recipe, was amazing and highly recommended. Overall, I’d give the experience 4.5 stars, as the service (aside from the water issue) was excellent, and the staff were incredibly kind.

Came in for a quick drink for the first time before going to see Wicked. Very welcoming team. Leo made us feel at home and made an excellent wine recommendation. Wish we could have stayed longer! Fabulous place will be coming back

Me and my mother went to the New York 10/10/24. We were greeted by the amazing door staff. We ordered a round of drinks in which Leo told us to calm down and we would leave if we don’t settle. I am a business woman and felt very unwelcome due to our look. My mother has a terminal illness and we shouldn’t be subjected to any sort of discrimination. Other than Leo the experience was nice but the staff out very judgmental even if you have money.

Poor service in the New York bar. Took two asks to get a table cleared. The bar itself looks tired and in need of a revamp. Very little in terms of attention from the waiting staff. Cocktails were of a good standard as they should be for the price but let down by the general level of service. The man in the red suit on the front door was the best thing about the entire experience. Won’t be back. Don’t know how it has such good reviews on Google as the OpenTable reviews are more what I would expect.

This is the second time myself and my son-in-law have experienced the Gin Tasting accompanied with small plates. Both times we had Frank as our 'Gin Expert'. He was very knowledgable and charming as well. We will definitely be returning.

We booked our Pre-Hamilton theatre dinner at the New York Bar in the Rubens at the Palace hotel and what a mistake we made. The service was terrible, we waited 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken. We then waited another 10/15 minutes for our food order to be taken. The starters were OK if a little disappointing. By this point we wanted another round of drinks but we could get no-ones attention. The mains were awful. It was the worst Chicken Cesar salad I have ever eaten. The chicken was so dry, there was very little dressing, no anchovies (as listed there would be), the lettuce was bitter and the croutons were stale. I ate less than half of the salad. My husband had the fish and chips which were OK but nothing to write home about. We never got our second round of drinks or even any water. We had planned to finish the meal off with an espresso martini but we left and went elsewhere. Very expensive and not worth your money - if you want pre-theatre go elsewhere.

A wonderful bar which takes you back in time. Pure class, from service to food and cocktails. The singer there in the evenings, Sourya has a lovely voice and well worth spending the evening listening to her and sipping cocktails. Frankie, the veteran waiter is a proper old school gentleman, an absolute treasure, hope he never retires. He makes the place.

Flew in from the US today to stay at the Rubens. Had our first meal at The New York Bar and had the best time. The live music entertainer was extremely talented and fun while interacting with the patrons, making for an intimate experience. Paolo, one of our servers, was very attentive and made great drink suggestions.

We spent 4 days in London, visiting several bars and pubs and hands down we loved this one the best. Jason and Jacek, the bartenders, made it a fabulous experience! The cocktails they prepared for us were like artwork. Jason and Jacek are incredibly creative with all cocktails. They were fun, inviting and made us feel like old friends. The bar has a great vibe. We went back daily because we enjoyed it so much.

I wish I can give 10 stars for the staff and vibes when I was visiting. I had such a great experience and that was for the hospitality, exceptional customer service and the liveliness that Jason, Jacek, and Arghavan provided. I love to enjoy hotel bars when I stay at the hotel and meet great people. I will definitely come visit again just for the staff, especially for those 3. To be honest, that bar was a little stuffy and quiet that I didn't even want to stay long. Thankfully after a certain time, they turned the music up, took song requests, got us dancing and sipping on delicious drinks all provided by the 3 of them. I made sure to visit all nights I was there. It made my trip beyond memorable. That I tell everyone when visiting to stop by and say Hi. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and ask for Jason, Jacek and Arghaven and tell them Vanessa sent ya! Thank you for an amazing experience! See you soon.

This bar was a great find. It has a classy environment with lots of history, and Jason and Jacek were both awesome behind the bar. They both made amazing craft-made cocktails with such great care and attention to detail, and when we having trouble deciding what to drink next, they were able to come up with a perfect selection that hit the spot. We finished all three of our nights in London at the New York Bar and had the best time hanging out with Jason and Jacek who had a way of making you feel at home and as part of the family.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Reubens Hotel in London, where I spent time at the New York Bar within the hotel. What was supposed to be one drink turned into multiple drinks across many nights with my family and I. This is by far the best bar I have been to in London, not only does it have a stunning, old-fashioned look and feel - but the staff working there are truly some of the best people you will ever meet. Particularly Jason and Jacek, who work there and took such great care of my family and I. I had THE best whiskey cocktails I will ever have at this bar, and I thank Jacek for sharing so much knowledge about the various Whiskeys and I thank Jason for showing me the importance of presentation and how making cocktails is an art in itself. It was a truly mesmerizing experience and I encourage you to view the video to observe how well these cocktails are presented and put together by Jason, with such incredible attention to detail. Not only were the drinks fantastic, but the overall atmosphere of the bar gave a very comforting feeling and I credit Jason and Jacek for creating that atmosphere. From long chats at the bar with Jason and Jacek, to the Frank Sinatra music running in the background that gave the New York Bar a true authentic New York feel (this is coming from someone who has grown up in NY), this was truly the most wonderful experience. To anyone that plans to go to London, go to THIS bar!

Loved this place, it was the perfect welcome after a long flight from NY. Jason in the bar showed me my new favorite drink, and was exceptional. Jacek was great as well , would highly recommend going visit these two in particular. Cheers!

Posh - but yet still comfy - spot. Jordan was our mixologist and he was a delight! Super fun and really cares about his job and making his guests happy. Will definitely return next time I’m in London.

Went to the NYB for early pre theater dinner. Very prompt seating, menus and drinks delivered very promptly, all up excellent service. The meals were good and of a generous size, would highly recommend.

We stayed at the Ruben’s for a couple nights and had amazing service from Jason at the bar. Super knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend. Also a special shoutout to Mohan who was really welcoming and nice from the curry room next door. This is a great place!

Lovely bar, great staff, fantastic drinks selection, comfortable surroundings.

Decor could be improved. Was a bit dark. Service not great. Staff not particularly pleasant. Didn't think our meal was worth the money. The only good thing about this place was the accessible toilet which was beautiful.

Was sat down and then ignored for over 10mins without so much as a glass of water to drink. In the end I had to go out of my way to grab a waiter clearing a table in order to get a drink. This was after me purposefully "catching" the main waiter's eye several times. Left earlier than expected and wouldn't return. Also, it wasn't busy so they couldn't use that as an excuse.

Beautiful Place, great service too. unfortunately way too quiet, like, no music at all. Very overpriced food for what it is. Cocktails 19£ each, they are fine, I guess you pay for ambiance.

Just had drinks and nibbles here before a show. A find. It's plush without being stuffy or pretentious. The cocktail menu was extensive , factual, and interesting. The King Swan served in a swan shaped glass was cool - a first for sure. I've knocked off 1 star for service as it was a little slow given there were a lot of staff milling about. There was a pianist, and a vocalist performed during our near two hour stay. Both really good. I would visit again. It's a perfect upmarket stop off for pre-show dinner/drinks!

Amazing whisky tasting experience. Our host, Frank, was an absolute legend!

Attended a gin tasting experience provided as a gift and the two of us were greeted warmly at the door and in the lobby and shown to our table and introduced to Frank our mixologist. On the table were a variety of gins, mixers and garnishes. Frank talked us through the history of gin and its processing before we tasted three gins - each neat, then with ice and mixer, then with a garnish such as orange peel, olives etc. It was amazing to taste the differences between the gins and how the taste of each changed with their additions. At the end of his presentation Frank provided us with us with lovely sharing plates plus another double measure of our favourite gin and coffee. A fascinating afternoon in wonderful surroundings with the knowledgeable and friendly Frank who, of course, makes the experience what it is. Recommended.

The intended vibe carries well and the place feels like a classic upscale NY cocktail bar, so overall a great establishment that I enjoy frequenting semi-often, when needing somewhere to entertain in a relaxed but semi-formal environment.

Went for the whiskey tasting. Jacek was very informative, gave us very helpful tips and lots of interesting insight into whiskey. Really enjoyed the whiskey we tried and had excellent cheese pairing too.

Truly awful and terrible value . Don’t waste your money. A poor pre theatre menu wildly overpriced at £49pp for main + dessert or 3 small plates + dessert. The small plates do not compliment one another so choosing 3 was difficult. Mains had limited options for glorified pub food (and not as good). I’m not sure that I’ve had a worse meal in London (and I’ve lived here for over 40 years). The staff were so charmless it really topped off a terrible experience . Save yourself the disappointment and head to a chain restaurant nearby.

Whisky tasting experience for my husband. We had a great afternoon with Jacek. He shared so much information about the different types of whisky. The origins, how to taste whisky, how it is paired with soft and hard cheeses and with chocolate. Something I did not know. What a lovely and humorous person Jacek was (seriously). The food was delicious, the short ribs, the giant prawn, the fries and chicken bao bun was delicious 😋. Would definitely come back.

A lovely relaxing afternoon of drinks in a classy London hotel. We were personally greeted at the door by the concierge and shown to the bar. He introduced us to the staff there and we were seated. It was a very welcoming and professional Start to the experience. We were promptly and attentively served cocktails of our choosing and also ones created off menu too. The afternoon was relaxing and made more enjoyable by the live piano music. The pianist was welcoming when asked to play specific requests too. Overall a lovely experience which I'd certainly recommend.

I worry that tourists come to London, don't venture beyond the hotel, and think that this bar is somehow representative of London (or indeed New York). It's not. It's actually quite poor. Indeed I felt sorry for the live singer who was trying to do a serviceable job amidst the seedy decor and unreadable vibe. For those staying at the Ruben, there are plenty of excellent, authentic places within 3 min walk of this bar. Yet this bar was busy and commanding Goring prices (!) On a plus, the staff was accommodating and pleasant.

Gin tasting was booked as a gift from family! Learnt from Jacek about the history of gin and how different types/brands are made. An incredibly knowledgable man who didn’t rush us through our 2 hour experience. We had a super time. Sampled 3 different gins, all both neat and with tonics. Atmosphere, service and staff were fantastic. Highly recommend!

Last time I was in Rubens Hotel? Donkeys. We were desperate for somewhere air-conditioned, dark - with seats - and alcoholic refreshment. The 3 of us were eventually allowed to muscle in on Rodney from California, sitting alone with 3 places surrounding him, who was quite happy to be overwhelmed with our company. The waiter, howeverwas not very happy with this arrangement as, y'know, the Hotel's reputation needed to be considered. Jeesh, man, when a woman is hot and bothered and is desperate for ice cold water and a Pina Colada, the LAST thing on her mind is seduction. As if. Especially with 3 of us. We all had a great time and Rodney thoroughly enjoyed our very non-professional company. And we, his. I agreed with his wife ( absent at the time) that the Pina was the best ever. We also had a bon bouche on the house and t'was excellent. All in all, a saving grace from the heatwave and noise from Victoria. Bliss.

Honestly the best cocktails in town! If you can book the cocktail masterclass then it's even better - so many things to learn and the staff are so patient and knowledgeable. Must try in London.

Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights for my birthday and had the best cocktail experience ever with Matt who created our cocktails to suit our taste. With this we received the best tasting nibbles to go with it. Absolutely fantastic, thank you Matt. Would also like to give a thanks to the waiter in the bar Frank, great service.

I booked in for the Cocktail Masterclass. I was surprised that the class went ahead as I was the only one registered for this particular time slot. It was an excellent session. Matt was extremely knowledgeable and personable; and I enjoyed a classic cocktail and a bespoke cocktail as part of the experience. I’ve enjoyed a few lovely cocktails and great conversations on other occasions during my stay at the Rubens. The bar / wait staff have all provided service to the highest standards.

My wife and daughtet ordered drinks before I sat down, no one actually acknowleded us and my wife had to get attention, just been to mens room so I was not ready at that time. The waiter came back I ordered a bottle of beer. I waited about 15mins and went to the bar to find out where it was. A waitress brought it over straight away. Apart from that the experiance in the dining room was fantastic Staff was great

Wow!!! What a fantastic find. It was the Thursday before Coronation. I popped over to London for a day of wandering, walking the streets that would soon be crowded as a new king was crowned. I was walking to catch a coach back to Oxford. The sun had set and then I heard music coming out of a building. I walked into this magnificent bar. Which as it turns out is part of the hotel. I loved it. My husband told me to get a room and stay the night. I was happy to sit, have a cocktail, listen to music and eat a sweet delicious dessert. Look at these pictures. Wow!! I caught a later coach and arrived back in Oxford after midnight. This little detour was worth it. I will be back with my husband. The service was warm and friendly. I loved watching the patrons ALL laughing, chatting and having a good time. The dessert gets an A++ for flavor & creative presentation. Thank you 😊.

Quick stop for an afternoon drink and nibble. Quintessential English bar located in the Rubens Hotel. Table service, always a bonus, great drinks, loads to choose from on the menu. Great for a special evening, drinks with friends or a cozy drink for two. Highly recommend, conveniently located walking distance from Victoria and across the street from the Royal Mews.

I booked a date on February 14 with my date and we were very excited to go to such a beautiful place. When we arrived I said that I had a reservation in my name but for some reason they didn't listen to me (or they didn't believe me) and they asked me which table did I booked, drinks, food... I didn't remember so I said I would take out my cell phone to look for the information and the person tells me "it doesn't matter, in the meantime I'll sit you here". We sat at a random table, we ordered to eat and drink. We drank mojito, very bad, they had almost no alcohol and only tasted of mint, I asked for mine with raspberry and I thought it would have a fruit flavor but it wasn't even that, they just put raspberries on top. I ordered Pasta Primavera, it was horrible I really can't believe I paid £25 for a pasta that I could have made myself or paid elsewhere at a lower price and tasted good. It was very sad. My partner ordered a brownie and told me that the cake was dry and tasteless. We did not like the food or the drinks. In the end, when we asked for the bill, they charged me for everything, which seemed strange to me because I had made a reservation and to do that you have to pay £30 that would ne discounted at the end of the bill. At that moment the waitress looked for the manager (I suppose) and he brought a sheet with him, they asked my name, I told them what it was and that's when they realized that we did have a reservation and not that we were there just because... I found it unprofessional. We were the youngest in the place and I don't know if that's why they didn't take us seriously or what, but we left very disappointed. The waitress who served us was nice, and the atmosphere of the place was good but unfortunately the other experiences don't let us recommend this place.

My girlfriend took me here for the whiskey tasting experience for my birthday, it was brilliant. The wonderful Raj welcomed us and made us feel excited to be there and that they were genuinely happy to have us, it was the best service I have ever experienced. We were then introduced to Frank who guided us through our experience. He was knowledgeable and friendly, an absolute pleasure. The whiskeys were delicious, as were the accompanying cheeses, sharing dishes, and the birthday dessert they kindly gave me. We have already arranged to go back, I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Did the Whiskey tasting experience and Jacek was really knowledgeable and informative. It was a great experience for my boyfriend who is an avid whisky drinker! Was good for someone who doesn’t drink whisky either. 11/10 rating! All down to Jacek!

Last night myself and my family came for our daughter's joint birthday meal. The food was lovely and we all enjoyed the experience. The staff previously knew about our daughter's birthday's in advance and made the most beautiful cake with both of their names on it. This was such a lovely touch and was a lovely surprise. The singer was fantastic and bought a lovely ambiance to the evening. I would personally like to thank Fred for his amazing hospitality and his friendly 5 star service. He made us feel very welcome and it's that great service that makes a difference to an evening out. Thanks to all the staff for everything.

A very enjoyable experience. Had intended on going to the Leopard Bar, but ended up here. Raj was wonderfully attentive as we entered, and Fred was excellent as our server. Atmosphere was decent but the service made all the difference. Well done and highly recommended!

Great ambience. Good selection of drinks. The staff was kind enough to walk me around the bar and give show me around the leopard bar and the tea menu. the Indian restaurant downstairs the bar was also fantastic. the food was amazing and cooked to perfection. the manager Mohan was very courteous and took care of us really well. The chef had come down to us and talked to us. As I have dietary preferences, he made special dishes to compensate for what I could not otherwise eat. This was a great gesture. I would recommend this very highly! Great place, great service, great location and very friendly place.

Last night we came to the New York bar the whiskey tasting experience. We had such a great time!! Frank was amazing, so knowledgeable and friendly. We tried 3 amazing whiskeys and also got 3 paired cheeses, as well as a sharing food platter which was delicious. We found it really good value for this sort of experience. Then as we were finishing a singer began, she was really good so we ended up staying for more drinks! If you're considering going for a drink experience - do it - and ask for Frank!

Beautiful setting, lovely cocktails and wine. Staff were all pleasant enough (the door man was by far the best as far as customer service goes) but it was extremely difficult to get anyone’s attention any time we needed anything. And we were sitting within arms reach of the bar and service area. Pre-theatre menu was 25% higher in price than quoted on my booking through open table with the response given that they don’t use Open Table anymore. Not ideal. Duck bao buns were delicious but rest of food pretty average. I would summarise the experience as all style and no substance. Chaotic service.
