The New Mayfair in Barnsley

As always, top class food, restaurant quality, best chinese food ever if you havnt tried it and you like Chinese food it's worth every penny not a cheap takeaway but we choose lots of dishes and would be double in a restaurant and nowhere near as nice.excellent .

Been trying to find a decent chineese for ages. Live sheffield North and tried local... never any good. Decided to try Mayfair last weekend. Ordered quite a few items from menu as for a family. Was able to walk strait in, order and pay and only waited in the car around 15 minutes before a woman waved me in. Was neatly packed in a cardboard box. Staff were friendly. Discussed food with family members and is definitely far best we've had. No missing items, no spillages with sauces, generous portions, was given free prawn crackers and spring rolls, reasonable price and tasted much better than anywhere weve eaten before. Definitely worth the travel to a decent chineese. Will be ordering from here again!

Best takeaway by far, due to a throat infection, found it hard to speak and give my order by phone, but from ordering over the phone to delivery , excellent service and the food was first class as always, highly recommended.

Been going for years! Must be one of the best around, not the cheapest, but what is cheap now a days! Very friendly staff, always happy to help.

Excellent chinese, is very busy so if want a delivery at a certain time best to ring earlier in the evening, had a number of dishes and all excellent quality and tasty. Do not take card payments but if collecting is a cash machine outside the Co-op next door. Highly recommended

The prices have increased but the quality decreased. No online order or card payment capabilities. No longer our favourite and wouldn't recommend.

In a pandemic situation all items should be paid for paperless. Ordered food and told over the phone that they take card. Get there and find that they don't. Good stuff. Looks run down and crowded in the kitchen. Good luck

First Chinese takeaway in 2021, from the first spoon to the last spoonful , everything was just lush. Absolutely enjoyed it.

Poor service. Placed order to be delivered between 8-9 and chased order up at 9 said ten mins, still didn’t arrive, chased 9.30 said be another half an hour, then received call at 9.40 to say did we still want the order....,, erm yes why did we order if we didn’t want it! They are greedy and take on too many orders and can’t fulfil them. I will be using companies who prefer good customer service than being greedy

Best chinese around. Food is always piping hot and delicious. Portion sizes are big. I won’t eat from anywhere else. Staff In the shop and the delivery drivers are friendly. Shop is nice and clean.

Always order from here. No other Chinese can compete. Singapore chow mein is lovely. Kids love it. Would definitely recommend.

i’ve been getting my chinese takeaways from here for as long as i can remember, and it never fails to impress. the staff are so helpful and kind when in the shop and always has speedy service when inside. the delivery drivers too are also very polite and represent the company in a magnificent light !! i LOVE the salt and pepper range; chips and chicken especially !! the chow mein noodles are also the BEST !! not tried here yet??? GO FOR IT

Best chinese we have, food is always hot when delivered and it's always fresh and tasty, never greasy and could be straight from the restaurant. When it temporary closed for lockdown I was genuinely devastated. Would highly recommend the mixed starter for 2, I could eat it all to myself!

Wonderful food the Beef Chow Mein was amazing!! Great price for the quality!! Would recommend to anyone!

I'll get the bad stuff out first. The chips are reheated, not fresh, I'd rather wait a few minutes more for fresh food, they don't take card payment and don't have an app/online ordering system and it's quite expensive for what it is when you're a family of 4. The good stuff for me is the spicy stuff is tasty and hot and orders are usually done quickly, I've tried other Chinese takeaway and we find this is the best one. I've not tried the 'English dishes' so can't comment but the starters, mains and rice are pretty consistent.

Rude staff, especially the delivery driver. My husband and I were both ill the next day having eaten from here.

Never had bad food from here! Always the top of my list when it comes to take away it has friendly staff and the only down side is it doesn’t take card

One of the best Chinese take aways around. The food always arrives hot and is lovely. The delivery is super fast or can be collected in a matter of minutes.

Ordered House Special Fried Rice and when arrived found there to be no tiger prawns in with the pork, beef and chicken. Phoned up to enquire whether the house special had changed and was told no it hadn't. No complimentary offer for next time only a sorry and that was it. I'm sorry but if that is how you treat your customers when food is wrong and contents missing then an apology in my book is not the answer.I expected at least a complimentary entree on my next order, but no, no offer of recompense whatsoever.I will be taking my custom elsewhere from now on.

The food is generally lovely and delivery quick. Not tonight! Ordered at 18.59 and said it would be delivered in an hour (that’s quite a wait as they are usually quite quick) At 20.06 called to ask where my order was and was told 5 to 10 mins as busy. Now 8.23 and still no delivery!! Pretty annoyed at this, they could’ve called to say it’s gonna be delayed but didn’t and we’re starving (not literary but bloody hungry). Now 8.26 and no sign of delivery. Shame really as we use the ever other week. Very disappointed, food better be nice and HOT. 8.30 still not here?

We have tried most of the Chinese Takeaways in the Hoyland and surrounding area and I have to say that this is by far the best. The food is always prepared on time and is very tasty. Would highly recommend!

From putting the phone down to the food being delivered to my door was less than 10 minutes!!!!! Immediately I was worried, there is no way the food was cooked fresh it was microwave reheated which is such a shame as this used to be the best Chinese take away for miles, all food cooked fresh and could be tailored to individual needs! Needless to say I won’t be ordering from here again!!

We’ve ordered from here loads of times in the past 10yr, haven’t had anything for a while, ordered today, and i think it may of changed hands... delivery was quick, but the food of much lower quality than usual.. sad really because I used to recommend it to everyone but I won’t be ordering again..

Got order wrong. Ordered sausage & chips for my daughter. It was awful the sausage didn't appear cooked properly. Will not be ordering again in a hurry.

We are regular customers of Mayfair and cannot fault the food. However on Saturday night, tried for over 40 minuets to place an order, eventually giving up, as the phone was continually engaged. Too busy or phone off hook! This to me does not come anywhere near acceptable customer service.

We always order our Chinese from The New Mayfair as we feel its the best one in the area and travel from Sheffield to collect it. Never have a problem with ordering and the food is always hot when collected. Turn around time from ordering to collection is always quick, even at busy times.

Always order my Chinese from here and have never been let down! Good quality food, fast service and very tasty. Will definitely be ordering again 😊

Sore ribs to die for. Never has a problem with Mayfair. One of best Chinese round Hoyland area. Foods always hot when it arrives. Arrives in time not a long wait if you ask for delivery. Never had a complaint

I will be ordering from here today I cannot get enough it's so lovely all other Chinese just don't taste as good as these guys. I love their sweet n sour chicken salt and pepper squid dry and king prawn fried rice, I never go anywhere else it's lovely! they deliver quick and their prices are just right and of course the food is delicious.

5 Minutes from J36 M1 it's a convenient Chinese takeaway which serves tasty and reasonably priced food. There is a good variety of dishes. Unfortunately parking is a mare as there's double yellow lines and a set of traffic lights outside. But if you can find somewhere to park it's worth it.
