The New Inn Pub in Bedford

I recently visited the New Inn Pub and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience! The meal I had was the best I've enjoyed in months. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Apple Plum Crumble Pie – it was, without a doubt, the best I've ever eaten in my life. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with the sweetness of the apples and plums melding harmoniously with the buttery, crumbly topping. Each bite was a delightful journey of taste and texture. The warm, welcoming atmosphere of the pub added to the overall enjoyment of my meal. It's not just a meal, it's a culinary adventure that I highly recommend to all food lovers. The New Inn Pub truly sets the bar high with its exceptional cuisine and charming ambiance.

Really nice little pub. Friendly and courteous service. Food is averagely priced but good, tasty, and generous. Recommended.

Expensive round of sandwiches, chips, glass of wine and a half of larger. Nearly £40

Cosy, clean pub. Delicious food, best pie I've ever eaten at a restaurant! All 4 adults and one child had different dishes, all excellent 👌 Owner and staff friendly and helpful. We have booked for Christmas lunch as we enjoyed or visit so much.

Great find while looking for somewhere to eat. Superb menu, didn't know what to have as it all sounded so good, food was freshly cooked and extremely tasty. A family run place and the service and attitude towards the clients really showed. After our meal Arthur, the co-owner came and sat with us for a chat. Will be there again soon, a must go to

Great country pub near Santa Pod. Quite quiet but it was mid-afternoon, we'd gone much earlier than planned due to racing being cancelled due to wet weather. Service was attentive and prompt. Food was excellent, steak cooked perfectly. Thanks

Do not work with them. They don't pay salaries. And I tried their food, I don't recommend it. Service at zero.

I stopped here on a bike ride. Pint and some scratching. Great little place.

Service of food was perfect. However the bar was poorly staffed but once we knew what was happening they were brilliant 👏 😀

Absolutely gorgeous food, puddings are amazing x lovely staff and atmosphere.

Nice meal a bit expensive. Was quiet when we went. The beef had a lot of gristle in it. Staff friendly.

A great pub, 8 of us had 8 different items from the menu and it was spot on, with traditional service from the waiting staff.

Lovely ambience, good food and music is not loud so you can hold a conversation. Not a big choice of food, but good service- would recommend, even sitting in the garden

The menu was varied..and arrived in reasonable time..and the food quality was ok...

Very good food, take all forms of payment gets a little cramped when full but the atmosphere and quality food more than make up for that.

Very nice looking pub, went in at 9:20 the person I was with bought a bottle of wine only to be told ten minutes later that its last orders. So had 40minutes to drink bottle of wine, obviously you can't. Won't ever go back

Wowee. .If you visiting this public house beware...you might be overwhelmed by the lack of hospitality. ..I wonder why ..It's Saturday night and was wanting somewhere nice to take my girl for nice cozy chat and drinks.. This place I had known and never visited it. The staff are about as welcoming as a flea in your pants...ignorant, un helpful, lazy, and miserable...The pub is a classic example of let's do it up, take out the nostalgia, the history, and any ambience and ruin it..It's clinical cold and boring..You would see more life in a cemetery. Clearly the staff have never had any hospitality training or told how to smile and make people welcome. I had heard the food is good ..maybe ? Good luck if you can survive with an empty pub...won't be going back.

EDIT: Visited for a second time and wow just incredible a real hidden gem! Both times different food and I simply cannot failt it. Between us we had the vegan burger and the ribs special, both were super tasty and fresh! This is becoming a regular spot 👍 Visited here for the first time to have a Sunday roast, great decision! All of the food was really really nice and the staff were attentive. I had the trio of meats roast and if I had to pick anything negative the beef was a little tough. However everything else about the meal was excellent and tasty! I can't comment on the other food but the roast is definitely worth a visit for.

High price, low quality. Bartender was not nice.

Superb. The whole place has turned round since a family took over over a year ago. Food is excellent home cooked and clearly not out of a bag - like so many other places. Beer is great including a great pint of Landlord. We wish them every success - they deserve it.

Lovely pub with very good homemade food with lovely staff. The sweets are amazing!! Apparently the lady who makes them is a mother of a member of staff. Well worth a visit but there is a limited menu at the moment 😋

Nice garden to sit in, alot fresher and cleaner than it was many years ago. Would definitely go again when the suns out next

The people who run it had no care about anybody else apart from their selves They spoke not in English and when asked where they were from said they were from Hawai. Not good.

Went for a roast dinner which was excellent. Service was friendly, professional without being overpowering. I Would definitely recommend.

Today I had my Sunday roast at the New Inn. It's a delightful pub with very friendly happy staff. I decided on the roast lamb. It was absolutely delicious and so we're the veg (incl sprouts, carrots, broccoli) proper tasty roast pots and a massive yorkshire. All cooked to perfection. I had the cherry tiramisu for afters WOW! Best ever. I'll defo be visiting again, great pub! Thank you - Debs

Lovely place, nice food but a little shy on the portions. 1 piece of broccoli, 3 carrots, 3 brussels on a £15 "duo" roast. Just expected a bit more (especially as GF so no massive Yorkshire). Very tasty tho and great service. 👍🏼

Overpriced on steak night and not very warm in there either. Wouldn't go again.

Had a wonderfully cooked Sunday roast. Full of taste and such a cracking view. Would highly recommend. Ask for Brad to cook yours he’s spot on ✌🏼

Lovely end of week lunch. First time here and will visit again. Friendly staff serving excellent food. Great menu for a village pub. I only dropped one star due to being cold in bar. It was however a very cold wet day ( and I am getting older).

Against all the odds, the New Inn survives. Not only the pandemic, but overwhelmed by flooding in 2020, they have come back to show what sheer hard work and dedication can do. Don't expect top notch gastro pub food, but what they put in front of us tonight was excellent and ticked all the boxes. Well done to all concerned and you will continue to get our support.

We have a lovely family lunch here today. Food was great and the staff went over and above with the amazing customer service. Fantastic with are 3 year old twins. We will definitely be back.

Lunch time today, was some of the best food we have had out for a while,grilled cicken fillet, bacon,& tomato sandwich, followed by sticky toffee cheesecake, whih didn't actually feel like it was still abit frozen in the middle, unlike some we have had,all cooked and presented nicely. It wasn't just a sandwich, it actually was a roll, slightly herby flavoured, with some herbs on top. The pub was very clean all the way through, the staff were very pleasant, and they make sure that you sign in with your details, lovely & relaxing, it is not the cheapest of places, but felt worth the money for the overall experience, definitely recommend for a treat,for when you just want smeone else to cook for a change, lovely big garden as well.

Poor service - staff afraid of any contact with customers which I get but be nice about it... Expensive drinks - Cider is £4.30 a bottle. Covid procedures not really working ..glass screen in front of till only but people sitting inside with no masks anyway. Sign outside says wait to be seated but noone comes to seat you so you have to walk in anyway. Cleaning tables but handing drinks over with no gloves...you can covid too!!! Haven't really thought things through properly. Nevermind local but this is not my local again. Good luck

Had Sunday lunch (2nd visit) even better than last time. Made all the better by the warm welcome from Arthur and top service from Ola. The flavours and food quality second to none, bravo chef and bravo New Inn Desserts were to die for 😘. Sticky toffee and Orange Cheesecake 😚 Happy days

We took our visitors here for dinner on a Friday and were so impressed by the quality of food, the service and overall ambience, we booked Sunday lunch there. The staff here are lovely, service is prompt and you are made to feel special and how great is that! Food on both occasions was superb, beautifully cooked and presented. Definitely a place to try - we will be going again and again.

The food was homemade which was lovely, but disappointed that they didn't stock the drink we ordered (bitter lemon) & when we ordered steak for our mains we were told they didn't have any of that either!

Everything about this place is lovely. Smart and relaxing. Excellent decor. Tasty food. Well worth a visit for a lovely meal or a quiet drink with your loved ones.

5 of us visited at 6pm on a Friday evening. Restaurant sparkling clean and staff helpful. We ordered the chicken in gorgonzola sauce and a range of burgers. All arrived just as described, decent portion sizes, all eaten up! Will return for another visit. Timothy Taylor beer kept in excellent condition.

Great food Sunday roast was really nice

I was here the first time. The place is cozy and warm. The owners are very friendly, staff is helpful. Good English beer, good food. I've spent here fantastic evening with the family. It was in the summer, so kids could play around in the nice garden with ours parential supervision, because we sat outside. When became colder we come in. Believe me, fantastic place with the English and continental cuisine. The only dish they should add to there menu is steaks. I hope to visit then soon, once again.

To be completely honest. We found this gem of a pub by pure accident and I am so glad we did. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The food is reasonably priced and also very good quality. I had the fish and chips and the burger and they were both very good sized portions. I will definitely be returning to this pub. The interior was very well maintained. If It was possible to give six stars, i would.
