The Mulberry Restaurant in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

NEW REVIEW Went again and the food was excellent. I had the Greek salad to start, followed by the vegan lasagna and brownie for dessert. My partner had fishcake to start, sirloin stake and chips, followed by the brownie. The service was very good and we tipped well. Knocking a star down this time as the water caraf was really dirty, inside and out, we asked them to take it away. I then ordered a bottle of water and the glass that came with it was also dirty. Clearly a bar issue, rather than a restaurant/food problem. So I drank out the bottle much to my partner's amusement! Shame they have got rid of the separate menu for the vegans/vegetarians, but there were options on the normal menu, so can't complain. Everything else was excellent. OLD REVIEW: I was very pleasantly surprised that it was modern, very clean, warm and the staff were very friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. There was a different menu for vegetarians and vegans, which I asked for and it was excellent. Starters, mains and desserts were available. My partner is a meat eater and he had lots on the normal menu to choose from. The food was hot, tasty, plentiful and well presented. Not to mention it was excellent value for money. We came away full and happy. We will be returning.

Visited on three successive nights, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Nice looking restaurant with good ambience. Ate at three separate tables, a large one which was stable and two smaller ones that moved. Friday meal was excellent, and service good. Saturday meal was OK, but service slower. Sunday meal adequate, but nothing to write home about, and the service was very slow. The restaurant was much busier on Saturday than Friday, and slightly busier on Sunday compared to Saturday. My take was that they had insufficient staff, who did their best, but struggled when the restaurant got busy.

Lots of choice on the menu, wide variety. No cocktails though. All the food was tasty. Nice atmosphere. Very accommodating and friendly staff.

More choice on menu would be nice

For a high end golf and spa the staff whilst pleasant were distant the receptionist not even standing to greet us the restaurant lacked atmosphere and the staff lacked finesse with Attire to match I don't expect comments like everything alright love. The food however was excellent I had the salmon which cooked to perfection.

It is a lovely location with fantastic fresh food. Extremely helpful and friendly waitresses and bar staff. A definite must if in the area.

Service - did not feel welcomed, had to ask for our drinks orders to be taken, food order came out wrong and drinks were slow to arrive. Food - delicious once it arrived. The brilliant kitchen staff are let down by the front of house

Very poor service today. Waiters and waitresses that kept getting things wrong, and pulling a face when we questioned it. 45 minutes to receive our drinks and they were still wrong. Very very poor. Hats off to the chef though, nice food

Good food but one of our party was a vegan and not many options for main apart from a salad so had a starter that they did make into a bigger portion. Staff very helpful

Wouldn’t waste your time here! Took about 20 minutes for a member of staff to take our drinks order after we originally had to initiate for the order to be taken to which we were also directed in ordering drinks from the bar to bring back to the table(shouldn’t be the attitude in a restaurant like this) if we would have wanted that service we would have gone to Weatherspoons! The staff have no urgency at all; would receive better service in a prison! The starters were lacking flavour and if your thinking of getting the prawn starter, don’t bother get a pack of prawns from Tesco’s and a pot of Philadelphia will save you half the price as here you only get 3 tiny prawns for £8.50!! Then after about 45-50mins the mains came out, to which the burgers didn’t have the onion rings they was meant to have, we asked a member of staff for them twice. Yet again, with no urgency we didn’t get the onion rings. The lamb shank was cold and went back- the restaurant clearly had a tendency to bring a tables food out not together as it was all distorted with timings which we noticed with other tables too, we was still waiting for the sides to come out like the veg to accompany 3 of the gravy dinners; that we ordered which we never received either to the point after asking staff we never got them and refused to eat the food as it was just not acceptable. Took about 10 minutes for the manager to come out who wasn’t bothered in correlation to the staff! Overall worst restaurant there is don’t waste your time here and explore the better ones of the area especially after driving an hour for it! Also no drinks menu so the waiter suggested to ask him what drinks we’d like due to this and to our result they didn’t even have the drinks but you couldn’t choose any other options as there was no menu besides a wine menu! Never known an establishment like it, there is no excuse for the diabolical service and lack of care from the staff due to it not even being full and busy! (Can see why!)

First of all I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. The service was terrible, to the point we had to ask the two supposed waitresses for drinks after 20 minutes of not being attended to. We were then told there was no drinks menu, therefore making us not aware of the drink prices or the selection. It took over an hour for the starters to come out, which were bland. The prawns which cost £8.50 consisted of 3 small prawns. When it came to mains the burger was missing the onion rings and the bacon jam. The lamb shank was cold and our sides did not come. The beef was very well cooked and very nice and as was the pork but it did end up going cold due to the long wait for the sides. We continuously spoke to staff where they just carried on telling us it’s fine, despite our many attempts at explaining the many issues. No improvement happened and even management tried to justify the issues as if they were common. If you wish to save yourself over £200 stay at home.

To say that we were disappointed is an understatement! It took 2 hrs to be served with 3 courses. The couple next to us had his main meal served, when the lady's meal hadn't arrived 15 mins later, she complained - they didn't know what her order was. We ordered prawn timbale - there were 3 small prawns on the edge of the dish! Our main was fish pie. This claimed to include prawns, cod and salmon. It was 95% mashed potato and sauce - I had 2 prawns, 2 lumps of cod and no salmon. Would have seen more seafood in a frozen Admirals Pie ready meal! Breakfast - a great selection but they got mine and the man on the next table's order wrong! Poor service and hugely over priced food!

Lovely restaurant, very spacious and nice ambience. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was exceptional. Prices for the food and drink was excellent. Highly recommended 🙂

Great for vegan options but you have to request a separate menu so it's not very inclusive. Also folk who'd like maybe plant based options miss out big time.

Stayed at the hotel and booked a table for dinner in the Mulberry restaurant mainly because of the many positive online reviews. Our experience was rather disappointing. The service was poor and lacked professionalism. Basic table serving skill were missing. We ordered our meals and a bottle of Sancerre wine. The wine was delivered to the table, already open with the cork pushed back into the top and placed on the table in passing with a ‘here’s your wine’. None of the finesse of opening the bottle at the table or asking us to taste it to ensure we were happy with it. This wouldn’t happen even in a pub restaurant! We had to ask for a wine cooler, which was also left on the table in passing. The food was average at best, certainly not the fine dining experience we were expecting. The beetroot and mozzarella salad my wife had for her starter was served with what appeared to be pre-packed grated cooking mozzarella. Edible but not the culinary treat we were expecting. Our mains were served with reheated potato’s which was disappointing and the fish was over cooked. The restaurant was unable to offer coffee due to a broken machine. Overall it was a disappointing experience - not one to book for a special occasion. Better value, better food and better service was readily available nearby. The restaurant in the Hoste Inn at Burnham Market was leagues better in our opinion.

We went here as part of a golf package the food was better than average for this type of trip. Good choices and quality available.

Very disappointed starting with tables so scruffy & worn they needed new varnish, plus they were very very sticky. Made you feel dirty. The starter was chicken parfait which was very dark with funny taste. My sirloin was tasteless, the chips still raw & the pannacota solid. And breakfast was another disaster. Weatherspoon serves better meals.

Visited this Restaurant earlier in the week and unfortunately left disappointed. The service was extremely slow and didn’t appear very well organised. The food was ok, but not brilliant, could have been better. Perhaps an off night given the other reviews received? But can only judge by our visit. The staff were pleasant though and the restaurant was a nice place and had nice grounds.

Had a meal here for my wife's birthday, been coming to Heacham for years but had never been here, we always stay in a friends mobile home on South beach. The hotel and grounds are lovely and the restaurant very spacey, staff were very friendly.

Fabulous place to visit at Heacham Manor, brilliant staff great views from the restaurant as you enjoy your breakfast.

Booked in for dinner, with friends. Limited menu but the food was excellent, my pork belly was just how I like it, an unctuous slab of pork with crispy cracking. Service was prompt and cheerful. Would certainly go again

It's a great venue very homely atmosphere menus good and service. Very clean and covid safe. We love our new years day lunch only missed 2021 I recommend a visit if not for a meal then have a drink in the ambient surroundings.

Great food in lovely surroundings

This place is located inside Heacham Manor hotel. Great food but limited menu at the moment. We have stopped hear on several occasions over the years. An ideal place to stay if you play golf.

Inside Heacham country Manor house, good food, choc dessert was heaven, possibly small portions for men. well spaced in attractive dining room overlooking countryside and golf course, pleasant friendly staff.

Breakfast on Tuesday 22.06.21was very poor it looked and tasted as if it had been cooked earlier and heated back up.The yogurt's on the buffet section were two weeks out of date.

Excellent dinner, well prepared and sizeable portions. The service doesn't quite match up, waiters are young and inexperienced. We sat for 25 minites before our wine arrived, having had to firmly point this out.

This is set in wonderful location. Food was of a good standard and expertly presented. However missing some minor things such as no apple sauce for roast pork. Also bread and butter pudding was more like baked pain au chocolat. Service was also a bit hit and miss with wine glasses being slid across the table. A good meal just not a grand meal.

Lovely restaurant with views over the golf course, and with outdoors seating when the weather permits. Good menu, great staff, varied menu and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit any time of year.

Had a Birthday lunch for 16 WI ladies we had our own room, tables beautifully set out so it was easy to speak to each other. Flowers on tables everything looked lovely, staff helpful and there was no fuss when a mistake had been made by ourselves. They simply made another meal. Would highly recommend.

Great service and afternoon tea

Went for norfolk restaurant week, a wonderful meal enjoyed by everyone at our table, the pork belly was amazing and the apricot and frangipan dessert was wonderful. Lovely meal would definitely go again!

Great staff really good customer service and a lovely atmosphere where you can just relax after a good days golfing. I only wish there was more on my plate.

Service a bit on the slow side; lunch was ok but had to ask for salad dressing and mint sauce instead of being offered them. Waiter/ess not very sociable/engaging

Enjoyed afternoon tea here yesterday. Selection and quality of the food was excellent. We had the sweet selection which includes finger sandwiches and a great selection of cakes. We had to ask to bring a few items home as we could not manage all in one sitting. Just as good the next day. Reasonable price compared to others in the area. Well worth trying.
