Nice environment but it's not really a carvery if they don't allow you to return for more vegetables. Just call it a Sunday roast. I've been twice previously and they'd not said anything about me returning for more vegetables but this time a guy aggressively remarks 'it is not an all you can eat buffet ' Don't call it a carvery then. I'll stick with a property carvery that actually allows unlimited vegetables. Pathetic.

The music is good but the staff ruin it. When I first entered I thought the atmosphere was okay and quite enjoyable however the bar staff incorrectly made my drink and refused to fix the issue and insisted on my paying despite the order being unsuccessful for filled. As a result I don't feel confident placing any orders with the bar staff anymore and will not be staying for very long. The staff member in question is a young woman of short build appearing to be the youngest of the staff group, they were extremely rude and not very helpful 03/02/24 (22:26)

I'd heard great things about the food previously so popped for lunch and was really disappointed. Asking for a simple switch of one part of the meal (chips instead of mash) took over 5 minutes to check with the chef and was told it meant we couldn't have the yorkshire pudding or peas so ordered something else. The drinks tasted like really cheap cola. It was quite a wait for 2 sandwiches and 2 toasties that we'd ended up ordering. We said we didn't order bbq chicken and bacon baguette but it was served anyway. I pointed out the menu said chicken and bacon with no mention of bbq and the girl said 'I just asked the chef and...' shrugging her shoulders and stopping talking. There was also coleslaw missing but there seemed little point in mentioning this. There was more focus on the staff having a laugh in the back than any level of customer service or rectifying mistakes with lots of screaming, laughing and singing from staff. It's sad to see because this pub used to be amazing. I wouldn't recommend it despite what food did arrive being ok, the customer service massively let's the place down.

Great old historic building, but very cold inside today & so was the food, carrots & sprouts not cooked fully. Guy on the carvery wasn't very friendly to me & hubby, but was to our younger daughter. Staff didn't know what a white wine spritzer was, although she was lovely lass. We got our carvery meal at around 1.30 & it finishes at 2.30, so you would think the food would be cooked through enough. Sprouts I think were frozen as they were cold & hard in the middle, same with the carrots. Meat was delicious though & nice & quiet to be able to talk without music blasting in your ear. We will give it another try! Do think they need more staff on the bar though for Sunday carvery & not frozen produce! Washroom had no working hand air dryer & only one soap dispenser, for a place this size. It should have soap dispensers at every basin & all full! Also, you can't sit in the old chapel now for pool tables :(

Avoid, avoid, avoid. Food was absolutely terrible and I would have been ashamed to serve that at home, never mind to paying customs! Jacket potatoes, which were smaller than my fist, were hard, waxy and I suspect had been reheated from the previous day, beans were stodgy and lacked any juice whatsoever, cheese just tasted of salt and didn't melt, childs pizza so dry that she was unable to eat it. Adult meals laden with a heavy sprinkling of parsley (which I don't eat) and the cordial was so weak that the water hardly changed colour. The majority of the food and drink was left because, for such simple foods, it was cooked appallingly. The lack of customers was a good indication of the quality of food and I should have known better than to give them the benefit of the doubt. That won't happen again as I will not be returning.

The mission is an excellent pub in a repurposed former church. It has been converted very well, a quirky building on different levels. One area in the former Chapel complet with stained glass windows has three pool tables free to play. There is a wide range of beers including two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales from old mill brewery. Food is served during the day.

A huge bar with some unusual decor to interest you and make you smile. I think we were a bit long in the tooth to embrace it fully though as it seems to be more of a night club than a real ale pub. The beer was pretty good, but not the right environment for us to enjoy it. Plastic glasses, smoke machine and lasers and the dj and security vaping inside just wasn't a good fit for us. I'm not criticising the place, just each to their own and don't expect a cosy pint.

We all ordered a drink & my dad tried to have a laugh with the lad that served us but he just wasn’t interested at all. Not friendly what bit. We all opted for the carvery. My dad & sister went to get theirs first & had to use a napkin to use the labels as they was piping hot which burnt my dads hand. The food had obviously just been heated under the counter for ages. I absolutely love sprouts & would always pick them, these was absolutely disgusting . None of fully finished the food & looking around at the few customers that was in neither did they. I would not recommend this place at all & the best laugh is they say outside on the board best carvery in town. This could not be further from the truth & is certainly false advertising. Place also needs a very good clean.

Absolutely disgusting! I have been a customer here for approximately 20 years, but never again! What a let down. I was told 10 -15 minutes, I arrived within 5 minutes and it was ready and waiting for me! The pancake rolls were hot but there wasn’t much filling! The Cantonese chicken was lukewarm and not very nice. The King prawn curry was lukewarm and the prawns were undercooked as if they had been thrown in last minute! If I wanted a microwave meal I would’ve bought one for a lot cheaper than this! £20 treat wasted! Very disappointed!
