The Missing Squirrel in Havant

Reviews were right. Staff is widely undertrained. Had to wait ~45 minutes to be served after having to wait 15 min to make our order. Glasses were dirty and we had to ask for them to be replaced. There was no clean cutlery left in the kitchen, so we had children sized knives and forks. Food was ok but the service killed the experience. Many items on the menu were sold out.

It's the service that lets the place down. The atmosphere is lovely and is truly worth the visit. The food is fine. The service is just endless errors, waiting, inconsistent issues and menus. You might get all your food, you might not. You may get all your drinks, you may get some substitutes but pay for the original order regardless. It's a bit of a mess sadly, still.

It is a beautiful setting, but that is all it has going for it. The staff are trying really hard, but I feel there are not enough of them. We ate there once during our holiday and the burger was near enough inedible, I think maybe cooked from frozen (the edges were solid). Service was slow and staff needed training. We tried to give it another go to get cocktails, these are expensive and not made as per the the menu (different ingredients, bits missing), so we then choose to go off site or get deliveries, which was much better. This place definitely has potential but currently overpriced and not good enough.

Went a few times whilst staying for a week. Every single time the food took over 45 mins to arrive, once the order was missed and took over an hour with me asking 3 times. Avoid ordering during busy periods (~6:30pm). Definitely understaffed. Staff were friendly and the food was good (especially the Sunday roast!). Lots of drinks options and online ordering.

The food was typical quickly thrown together food. The staff were excellent, friendly and smart. The toilets were very big and spacious, plenty of room For a wheelchair. The decor was fantastic looked really nice. Shane it was so expensive.

Went with friends whilst our visit to Island of Hayling. Went in afternoon and we were told food would be available post 5pm. So watch out for the timing. It's open for drinks all the time. Ambience is good. Service was good Although ...Food is just OK.

The interior of The Missing Squirrel is beautiful and the atmosphere was great. We walked through it when we checked in and knew we wanted to get a cocktail there at some point during the stay. One evening, we got 2 cocktails, a selection of starters, and a chicken, chorizo and pepper panini. We realised we ordered very beige starters, as all of them were battered and fried, but all were very tasty. The dips that were served really took them up a notch too. The cocktails were also very tasty and moreish. The disappointment was the panini. It had a very strong aftertaste which put us off. It tasted like defrosted chicken. We tried picking the chicken off and eating it without it but you still had a strong smell/ aftertaste. Considering the decent prices you pay, this was very disappointing.

This is a lovely venue, really great decor and atmosphere. Food was good and large portions. We spent £100 for 4 mains and 2 rounds of drinks although 2nd round was special offer half price.

Under staffed massively, good luck getting a drink in under ten minutes 😅

Beautiful bar area, food area nice for the kids in and out side and food great portions it was a shame we could not get a drink after 10 pm when the kids had gone to bed.

Popped in for lunch today. Easy to park, nice venue, polite, attentive staff. Lunch was gluten free BLT and chunky chips. Tea, sadly no decaffeinated. Food was nice, although bacon was cold, chips were golden crispy and hot. Presentation was good, as was the service. Definitely would go back again.

It is a very stylish looking bar but it was not open when we arrived so can't comment on service etc yet. Might visit again today

Called on a bike ride, but no one in and too pricy, carried on to the Yew Tree had a Sunday lunch and 2 rounds of drinks for what we would have paid for one drink at the Missing Squirrel !

Great place staff were nice and location was fantastic

Newly opened so a little quiet, but staff were really friendly and the selection of gins was excellent! Menu seafood inspired, didn’t try the food on this visit but will definitely try it next time. Will return soon! Beautiful establishment... just watch those squirrels 😉
