The food was really nice a solid 9 out of 10 for me, staff were friendly and it was not as expensive as i thought it was going to be. It was a little quiet there when we went but it was a Thursday evening. Cant wait to go again 😁

Sunday lunch was disappointing poor produce served on stainless steel trays. Wouldn't recommend. Four adults 2 children food didnt arrive at the table all together. By the time my food arrived the others had almost finished.

I am absolutely disgusted with this place. I ordered the honey ribs. the menue said bbq OR honey. my order came with bbq and I was told it is bbq with honey. my friends steak was sent back as it came out well done instead of medium rare. the basket of chips were put straight on the table. so the chips were in contact with the dirty table. the servers hair was not tied back as health and saftey says it should be. and then they gave us 10 % off for ribs I could not eat and made out that the menu said BbQ with honey. having now checked it, it very clearly says OR!! what a rip off!

It was okay. It was quite dark in the restaurant, and the benches you sit on are so uncomfortable. Throughout our time there (approx. 90 mins), the restaurant was no more than half full. Service was polite but disorganised. Asked twice if we wanted to order drinks and food. Plates cleared, but no offer of dessert. We were just left to sit and wait. After about 10 mins, I just asked for the bill, but that was slow. No spicy mayo arrived with our meal as advertised, and no one around to ask, so we had to eat without. I had to ask for chips as they weren't served to us either. All food was warm but not hot when served. It was on par with a good trip to Harvester. It was fine, but I won't be rushing back.

Amazing from start to finish !! Table of 6. Food was perfect. We all had something different from Burger to Ribs, 50/50 chicken and steaks. All cooked to perfection. Waitresses are second to none. Beef was very soft Gravy isn't good Ok roast potatoes Good Yorkshire pudding Desert Cheese cake was OK didn't like the fact that server was crumbling choc on top with her fingers while doing many things Choc brownie was tasty but so small Mocktails were nice as were cocktails . I had really big expectations for this place but the food has really let it down . I would go for a burger pint and music but wouldn't return for a lunch with my family . Roast is on same standing or just under Toby carvery but on a cold silver tray . And tobys gravy is nicer . Never thought I would say that. I'm not bad mouthing the business just giving honest review on the food . Friendly nice staff looks good there would be amazing for long term if food was properly thought out and prepared . Just seems like a Facebook fad of low quality at the moment .shame

This place was outstanding, there was nothing i could find fault with. Staff were welcoming, friendly and assertive. Food!! Well best meal iv had in a very long time absolutely beautiful. Drinks were great, good quality beer and cocktails. And top off our visit we had the bill and what a surprise that was, wasn’t excepting that, fantastic value for money. Most definitely will be back and recommending this place to all our friends and family.

Had Sunday lunch there after raving reviews,totally dissapointed.I was expecting a decent amount of beef but only had a very small slice.Packet smash potato, really,don't know what the cauliflower was all about in a bland white sauce but had no taste at all.The other veg and stuffing was really nice but only a small pot of gravy.Good service and lovely staff but you can't say 100% best dinner around if you are serving packet smash.Wont be going back I'm afraid.

Had a 10oz burger and fries , burger was dry and cold. Also ribs & fries . Ribs were full of fat right through the middle. Disgusting. Both Prawn cocktail starter prawns were rubbery. Bought a chicken dish for my son to takeaway chicken was undercooked . Honestly gutted was so looking forward to trying this place. Never again!!

Sunday lunch. Starters were average, halloumi fries were ok but if it wasnt for the sweet chilli dip wouldn't have eaten them. Bruschetta came on a thick chunk of dry focaccia bread few tomatoes but no real taste and was unfinished. Beef dinner however was superb, one of the best we've had. Everything cooked perfectly. Service was fantastic and atmosphere was great.

Possible the worst burger I’ve ever had, like hockey pucks, dry and solid. No ribs in box but a dry overcooked chicken breast. Meatballs same story, dry. Salt and chilli chicken was the only nice thing. Dissapointing for

Came here last year with 5*review. But this times sadly not. 20oz burger was very dry, cheese was over cooked and hard and a piece of dry bacon no sauce, onions or salad which made it even drier, would have sent it back but was to hungry. Other meals weren't much better. For £21 per meal I would expect better cooked food . The only good point was the Service was good and we didn't wait long. But won't be going back

Second time here and what a disappointment. 20 Oz burger very dry and hard to swallow and the cheese was melted but gone hard and dry peice of bacon to top it of, no salad of any sort with it, not even burger sauce and a small portion of chips. Would have sent it back but was so hungry after looking forward to this all day. Other meal just as disappointing. For a £21 burger I'd expect food to be better. Won't be returning

The chicken, chips and rib were lovely.. the burgers and onion rings were a bit bland. Other then that, the main was lovely. I will say however, we did order waffles and ended up with brownies. Good thing they are the same price. Shame the order was wrong.

Went for a drink here in a Saturday evening and had my drink tampered with. I’d left my drink on a table closest to the toilet (I would have taken it with me but it’s a small and not overly clean toilet). When I can out I found that my drink had been spiked. I could taste pepper in my drink and took it to the bar staff. They had no idea what to do as they were barely old enough to work behind the bar and no doubt were working for peanuts. One of them called the manager and I had nothing but apathy from her. Whilst I fully appreciated that this was probably just pepper that a sick individual poured in my drink I wanted to raise her attention to the fact it could have been something more sinister and happened to a woman. She seemed more concerned that I may ask for a free drink. Absolute disgrace that safety isn’t paramount here - would it be the same if I was a woman complainant? Gender isn’t the issue here - it’s apathy at the situation.

Such a lovely warm welcoming, staff are so polite and friendly, and the food is absolutely amazing, we will definitely be returning soon

Seen amazing pictures online and lovely reviews. Came to try it for myself and I was quite disappointed, the food wasn’t too bad however the service was awful. The girls were nice enough but the service was so painfully slow. Starters came out fast as well as the mains, they took a good 30 minutes to clear the plates and this was only done so because I went to the bar and asked for the desert menu. Only two brownies were ordered and it took around half an hour for them to come. People had been and gone in the time that we stayed there. Myself and my friend were there for 2hrs 30mins which is far too long for a place that’s not busy.

A lovely time spent at the mine last evening. All our food was tasty and the desserts were lovely especially the cheesecake. Service was excellent and all staff were friendly too. All five of us enjoyed and would recommend this restaurant and would return for a meal another time.

We had a meal last night 3 of us had the salt and chilli chicken which was lovely the other one in our group had the lasagne.. to say it was a total let down would be an understatement it was served in a pasta bowl with the thinest piece of garlic pizza bread, and what was meant to be the lasagne next to it which looked like a pile slop. Also the entrance to the kitchen had remanence of food all over the floor it was disgusting. This was our first time to the restaurant and we won’t be back..

Was really looking forward to visiting, but didn't really live up to the expectations, if you order steak you have to pay for the accompaniments separately and steak wasn't the best cut was quite tough and over done. However staff and the cocktails were really good they couldn't do enough for us the food let the experience down. The atmosphere wasn't the worse but it's quite dark and small

Food looks amazing online but when delivered it was the exact opposite. Chips were cremated, burger was dry with a tiny piece of bacon and onion and no chutney as advertised. The other 3 meals we ordered were no better 1 out of 10 for me stay away.

Visited here on Friday night with friends to celebrate my birthday and a catch up. The food was excellent, very large portions. The staff were great had a lovely evening will definitely be back on our next visit from newcastle. Thankyou for a lovely evening. Oh and the cocktails were fab too.

Meal was missing & we questioned the driver before he left the drive.he said for us to ring the restaurant (the mine) however they refused it all and said they sent it all out. Awful!!! One of them are lieing, won’t be ordering with the place again. Meant to be a family treat meal night now it’s wrecked.

Having recently had a fantastic meal on fathers day at Carnivore on fathers day we booked into the Mine in Neath town centre for the following weekend. Initial impressions were not amazing as me and my daughter stood awkwardly waiting to be seated and even though it was fairly obvious no one acknowledged us. After 4-5 mins we just went moved forward to the bar where we were taken to our seats. It may be only a small thing but definitely felt a little strange. Once my partner had joined us we started to look through the menu and were quite shocked at some of the prices, especially after what we felt was very good pricing at their other restaurant, but decided to reserve judgement until we had tasted the food as I don't mind paying for great food. The food was not great. It was not terrible but it was not great and hard to imagine the two restaurants were connected. We ordered two portions of garlic bread to have between the three of us to start after having some amazing garlic doughballs the week before. What we got were two reasonable garlic naan/ flat type breads which were nice, but not value for money. I had the chicken tikka topped chips which was £18 so I though they were going to be spectacular but was very disappointing. I am not sure if it was the cut of chicken that maybe I wasn't used to (it was advertised as thigh) but it felt very processed and very overcooked to the point at which I initially thought they had mistakenly given me strips of halloumi in error. My partners chicken burger featured the same thinly cut strips of chicken which was similarly tough alongside the thighs but hers cost £20 and the portion of chips she had with the burger was half the size of that which my little girl had with her lasagne. Service was quick and polite so aside from the initial awkwardness, no complaints there but the food at that price point was really disappointing. I do understand pricing pressures for have risen dramatically for restaurants but in my honest opinion these prices do not represent value. Will happily revisit Carnivore but will not be returning to the Mine town centre.

What a superb dinner for Father's Day! Family meal was exceptional for both quality grub and value. Never had such a fantastic burger! Thanks, guys, and especially to the guys serving us. You made an enjoyable meal into an outstanding experience!

A lovely evening spent here and the staff were all lovely and welcoming. If you have a big appetite you will love the food here. Unfortunately it was way too much for me and the amount of food had me feel a little nauseous. Others really enjoyed though and was tasty.

Wow best food we have had in a long time. The 20 oz steak was huge and cooked to perfection and only £23. The 50/50 was lovely and had to take some home. I would highly recommend but wouldn't have starters again as the meals are huge. Will definitely be back and be aware you have to book a table. And we went on a Wednesday night and KIDS EAT FREE

Been quiet a few times here. This time the half and half chill and buttery chicken was messed up the buttery chicken was hotter than the chilly chicken. Also 3 of the mains were served 10 minutes before the other 3 mains in the party, seem to concentrate on some takeaway s. Yet again no offer of a dessert after the main meals., as they rushing to clear up. Also this time 3extra drinks added to the bill. Perhaps this is a one off . Food and service has always been first class before

We thought we would give this place a try. Booked the table online, which was easy enough. When we arrived, it took a little while to find our booking, but once found, we got seated. Had our drinks order taken, but had to ask for a cocktail list, as none on the table. The food was good, but they forgot the extra we ordered, and it was not described well, so we had mushrooms in it, so a waste of money, as would of asked for no mushrooms, if we had known before hand. We were asked by nearly every member of staff, if everything was okay, and then again to see if we wanted dessert. So, it seemed a little over the top. The food was nice, but I feel it is a little overpriced from other places we have been. So, won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Staff were great from start to finish. Menu - well it’s ok and if you upgrade to the shovel you just get more fries. Had the butterfly chicken nan- was tasty but chicken disappointing, small pieces of cheap frozen chicken it looked like. The 20oz steak was the best meal was cooked just right. The 20oz burger was ok. Came on plate on its own with fries on side. Expensive for what you get apart from steak which was value for money. Don’t think we’ll be back in a hurry- sorry

Had a meal for 26 people here, and I can't recommend enough how good this place is! We all had our pre ordered food brought to our table really quick all hot and plenty of it meals are huge! Not one person complained about anything they all said their meal was beautiful. The staff there were lovely so attentive they couldn't do enough for you, always back and fore to make sure we were okay. Would definitely recommend this lovely place and we will be returning soon. The service was absolutely superb but the food was very average. If you're looking for huge portions, you're in for a treat but the quality is very mediocre. I don't want to be overly critical as there's not much wrong with it, but for the price, it's just expensive pub food. Positives = Great and welcoming staff. Fantastic atmosphere and good location.

Well, where do I start... just go there, lol... food was amazing. Each course was tasty and value for money. We went as a mother and daughters birthday Meal... Staff were lovely and kept checking on on us for drinks and how was the food, it was timed lovely and not over zealous.. I wanted to make it to desserts, so I brought home half my main... we choose from the lunchtime offer and I thought oh the portions are going to be small... nope, they were full portions, and my eyes are bigger than my belly... Love the deco it's all about the coal mines and they do bring food out on shovels if you ask. Baby spade spoons, which I had to stop my daughter from pocketing, went on amazon and ordered her some... (she wouldn't have taken one). They also sell Tapas so that's my next review and I have experienced the best Tapas in the world so look out The Mine Neath.. I'm coming back.

Went here for my birthday meal. Was disappointed with the food. Butter chicken was spicer than expected and the fish was very smaller than expected as well. Poor communication between staff. The guy, who brought the food to our table, said “since the fish was smaller than the usual fish they served, they were going to charge us less”. When asked how much less, we were told the amount. When it came to paying, the woman at the bar was charging us the usual amount. We explained that there should be an amount off, as the guy said. The woman kept repeating its the lunchtime menu. Did ask for the guy, but he left the building. The woman finally took the amount off in the end. This was the first time coming here, wanted to try somewhere new for my birthday. But after this experience, won’t be coming back.

Very over priced for what it is , potions are big but no much chicken just a lot of chips also the meal was served on a flat plate with the food almost falling over clearly needing a bowl and no room to mix my rice on the plate , Paid £20 for the salt and chilli’s chicken and reviven a plate full of chips and peppers with sauce and in total probably not even half a chicken breast cut into small bits , also all meals came out at different time so most the group was waiting when some were eating then some were done whilst others received there food also was not busy at all so no excuse

I ordered takeaway from here and collected myself. We had been looking forward to this for a while after seeing all the reviews online. All I can say is that it was a pile of stodge! What a disappointment and an expensive one at that! We had 1 portion of salt and pepper chicken, and 1 portion of half salt and pepper chicken and half butter chicken. I will admit that it was my fault that I didn't read the salt and pepper chicken was soaked in a sauce, and it really is completely drowned in a very over powering sauce. But as for the butter chicken it was completely overcooked, dry and hard to the point it was inedible. I complained and even offered to return it, but I was told that they had checked with 5 other customers that had ordered that night and it was fine! I run my own business and this is not the way I would deal with my customers. The salt and pepper chicken came with a huge pile of fries which were also completely doused in the sauce, and a portion of rice. For some unknown reason the half butter chicken had only chips and no rice. Basically we paid £18 each for a bed of chips with a portion of chicken thrown over it, which I can get far better quality salt and pepper chicken from my local Chinese takeaway for £6!! Final conclusion is that this seems a bit of a novel place, where food is rushed, slapped together and people seem to appreciate quantity over quality, which it certainly isn't quality. EDIT: NOWHERE in my complaint did I threaten to write a review!! I will post my complaint here if you would like me to. I totally understand what bad reviews can do to a small business and would never want to harm a business. I hardly ever write reviews, but the way you dealt with my complaint by basically telling me I was lying about the butter chicken, as others had said it was okay, was unacceptable to me. I thought about writing a review for a couple of days, and thought it's only fair that I should be able to air my feelings. I am a very nice person thank you. And the "small" cake business to which you are referring is just my sideline/hobby. My husband has run his own successful business for the last 28 years, and we have hundreds of happy returning customers. PLEASE reread my message of complaint! And my review! I admitted I made a mistake about the sauce on the chicken, but I still feel it was very overpowering and the food is not worth the money. I was more annoyed about being called a liar about the butter chicken which again was inedible due to being dry and overcooked!

It's difficult to describe just how good a value for money "The Mines" are. This is the second one we tried and wow it's great. We had a mix of steaks, burgers, and meatballs for our group, and all the food was so good. The staff were friendly the atmosphere was maybe a bit loud but we did go when a six nations match was on so that's on us. I had a 20oz steak (pictured) which was cooked just the perfect amount of rare. The burgers that came for the others were big and juicy and apparently very tasty. One of us had a big bowl of meatballs and they were lovely as well. All in all it's fantastic value, it's not cheap in the amount you pay, BUT for what you get and the quality, it's such good value. We'll definitely be back just maybe at a slightly quieter time 😉 Plenty of pics on Facebook of all the dishes, next time I might attempt the mixed grill.

Every dish is bloody incredible! 👌 I don't know why I ordered starters as I knew our mains were gonna be massive but they just looked so good though, the Rustic Meatballs in particular were delicious 😋 Our mains were just insane...I opted for the Pizza Burger and this is as amazing as it sounds, it was a big beefy, cheesy and messy burger that ticked all the boxes! Although my burger was incredible, Hayley decided on the Beef Cob and well this was just out of this world good! This was the winner of the night! Super tender beef cooked with a rich gravy in a fluffy cob filled with chive mash. It was ridiculously good! No surprise here, as always highly recommended 👏

We contacted the resteraunt earlier in the afternoon to enquire if we could order directly with them for takeaway collection later that day. They were more than happy to accommodate us. We ordered 3 of their huge share boxes and a pizza. Food was ready bang on time and was piping hot. It was still hot by the time we got home. It fed 7 adults and 3 kids with some left over for this reviewer tomorrow ha ha. The food was fantastic and stacks of it. Really high quality and tasty. I have no negatives. Price was more cost effective than if we had had a McDonald's for all of us. Really impressed. Even had a courtesy message later in the evening to check how our food was. Highly recommend.
