Fantastic evening. Fabulous meal fajhitas and enchiladas were great. Lovely atmosphere and the free frozen margarita shots are a lovely touch. Highly recommend

Worst meal I've even been out for in my life, ordered food at 7pm, asked for starters and mains to be served at once, 7/10 of the people were served after 45 mins, the rest still waiting, after 1.5hrs I asked to cancel mine as everyone else had finished, the birthday party still hadn't been served, asked where his was and they'd forgotten about it, also one of the party was gluten free, when being served they double checked what they had been served was gluten free, after they'd eaten there meal they were told what they'd eaten was not gluten free and they will now be violently ill, the rest of the service was horrendous, I have been here a few times and they'd always messed up but this was by far the worst service I'd ever had, they still tried to charge almost full price after that, would not recommend this place ever

Visited while in perth for work. Went with 4 colleagues and between us we ordered several different main courses starters and desserts. (4 starters 5 mains 3 deserts and drinks) food and service were amazing. Final bill was £25 per person

Don't bother...... if I could give it no stars I would, awful food bland dried out overcooked , possibly microwaved, tortillas dry I could go on..... no napkins or hot sauces on table, candles unlit, mucked up the bill, poor service no atmosphere huge disappointed why this place is still semi popular is beyond me !!!!!!!

few work colleagues and myself attended for dinner. What can i say..it was awful. The starters of nachos were cold and bland. How a Mexican can muck up nachos is beyond me. How can cheese be melted and cold?? My fajitas were good, other mains were just OK, nothing that couldn't be done at home. The service is where it really let it down. We got our drinks, then food arrived. No one came near us to take another drink order, we had to go to the counter which isn't a huge deal. We then sat with our empty plates and glasses for 40 mins. Eventually had to ask for the bill again at the counter, and also for the plates to be cleared. No offer of a pudding menu or if we wanted another drink. I would have complained but the 2 waiters looked like school kids, so just paid and left. I certainly wont be hurrying back. Such a shame as this used to be a fab little Mexican.

Had a lovely tasty meal, faijita were best had in a long time and well done for the home made salsa and guacamole 😃 loved it all! Might have to try and get the recipe out ya!! Been a while since I had visited the Mexican and definitely won’t leave it as long again!! Come on Perth let’s not just let it be faijita Friday 🇲🇽🫔🌮🌯

Not normally one for a review but I felt this was needed. Left the restaurant still starving and not happy. Very unprofessional front of house staff, and awful food. No flavour, cold, but also seemed microwaved at the same time? How is that possible. Explained to the waiter that the food was disgusting to only get a half arsed ‘sorry’ and didn’t even ask what was wrong with the food. The food in the picture we waited over an hour for. Could make better Mexican food from the El Paso kits and save yourself some money.

Myself and my husband visited this lovely little restaurant on our recent visit to Perth....what a delightful place!! Beautiful food (l'm vegetarian and there was plenty of choice for me!),lovely wine,great and pleasant service and lovely, authentic surroundings....what's not to like?!

Waited 30 minutes for starter despite only 3 tables in there. Deep fried and burnt . Main was bland, no spices or flavour My wife's fajitas were quite nice but no ambience, the music stopped and no one put any new music on so sat there listening to others conversations.

I never write reviews, but unfortunately, I felt that a review needed to be written here. This is NOT good Mexican food. The salsa tastes like its from a jar. They did not put beans in my bean and rice burrito. I had to ask for it on the side. They charged extra just to add cheese inside the burrito. The chicken, rice, and beans were each individually spiced, with flavors that don't go together (chili beans inside a burrito), which made it so that it was too hard to eat. I didn't think that Mexican food could be bad, but unfortunately, this was. We were there on Friday, 9/20 later in the evening.

Absolutely fantastic venue for quiz night. Venue is smartly decorated, feels like you're on holiday when inside. It was absolutely chock-a-block with customers but the bar staff were the quickest I have ever witnessed and were doing table service so quickly it was extremely impressive. The buffet was absolutely brilliant, such a variety and plenty quantity. I would 100% book a function/event here in future & I am excited about returning for a sit down meal if the standard of the buffet food is to go by I won't be disappointed! The only thing I would say is that the cocktails were slightly too synthetic/syrupy flavoured for me BUT that is purely a personal taste thing, the slush one I had was refreshing to begin with but I couldn't finish it, but there is still a huge variety of other drinks available too!

Delivered food was cold. Dealing with management was shocking.

We’d seen good reviews on trip adviser so gave it a shot and was not disappointed. Stated with chicken and choritzo flutes and nachos both were lovely. We then went for fahitas and chimichanga and both were excellent and big portions. My partner does not like sour cream or guac (but loves Mexican food) and the team were really accommodating in just giving extra salsa imstead. We could hardly finish it all bit we really enjoyed it. We will be back next time in Perth. Highly recommend.

Would definitely class this as a wee hidden Jem . The food was great I would highly recommend the fully loaded fajitas with prawns steak chicken and chorizo . Everything was so good the prawns in particular was amazing . The lady who served us was very friendly and I would highly recommend this wee place

Fantastico!!! The Mexican is a lovely wee place just off the beaten track in the city centre. The place is clean, tidy, well decorated and has nice bathroom facilities. We started off with slushy cocktails and beers while we waited for our nachos and starters. More bees and wine followed with our enchiladas as mains. The food was presented well, had a great portion size and was reasonably priced. Service was also friendly and discrete. We had a great time and will be back 👍

Never judge a book by its cover - location is a challenge being on a busy road with no immediate parking - locals will quickly turn down a side street and walk back. Friendly welcome back - comfortable interior - simple menu - order taken accurately and food came within 15 minutes. Nicely presented with good flavour - both food and drinks were very reasonably priced. Toilets clean. So all in all a really good offering - look past the kerb appeal and find a parking space down a side street - or get a taxi - we would reccomend and certainly be back. Thank You

A hidden gem in Perth. Lovely food and wonderful service from attentive staff

We really enjoyed our time at The Mexican. Staff greeted us when we came in, took us to our table and once we were settled, took our drinks order. All done very smoothly. The menus had a nice variety of dishes. We shared loaded fries as a starter - very tasty- and for mains a vegetable burrito and vegetable enchilada - all delicious, perfectly seasoned and with a nice mix of veg used (mini corn, sweet potato, onion, sweet peas etc). The tortillas, cheeses, guacamole, salsa and sour cream were also high quality. Corners could have been cut here, but the owners opted not too. Little things can make a big difference, so thank you for making the effort. It was appreciated. The bill was very reasonable and the whole experience left us wanting to return for more. If you're in Perth and craving delicious Mexican food "The Mexican" is a must-visit.

We had a fantastic family meal here food was very fresh and tasty I would highly recommend a visit.

Food is good but pretty average. Nachos were stone cold. Front of house staff haven’t got a clue what they are doing. Once seated we gave our drinks order, 3 cans of juice and a tap water but only two people got glasses with there cans which is just carelessness. I ordered a tap water and once I’d drank it I asked for a jug for the table again we were missing two glasses this time so for four people we were given 2 glasses where’s the common sense in that. When the girl was taking our order the clearly very young staff members kept asking her questions she had to say I am serving right now I will answer soon. Drinks sat on the bar for over half an hour with 3 staff on. There wasn’t many tables in it was very quiet. We waited over an hour for mains which were basic so I’m unsure how it takes so long. Staff can only carry one fajita stand at a time so I’d be thinking of getting rid of them. Staff were bringing food to the table completely unaware of what the dish was that’s the fault of the chef who should be telling the front of house staff what the dishes are before they leave the kitchen! Place is an absolutely shambles. Owner is 100% to blame as they clearly can’t train staff I’d run a mile after working a shift in here!

Varied menu, includes vegetarian choices. Chimichunga, fajitas excellent, generous portions. Wines, beers. Good prices, friendly efficient service. Nice atmosphere, great for relaxing & chatting. Definitely worth a visit, will be back.

waited over 10 minutes before we got drinks ordered etc Ordered fajitas which took an hour to come and there was about 3 pieces of chicken and minimal of everything, had a starter and a main and didn't even fill me. Feel a bit ripped off for the portions and the service was pretty slow would avoid if you like good food

Terrible service. Waited over 1hr for 2 mains and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Food mediocre, Fajitas served with 4 chicken pieces. Feel totally ripped off. Would not waste my time or money again !!!

The food was good overall, but lots of onions in the Quesadilla and fajitas. Service wasn't great, slow and inexperienced staff. Would return for the food but not the service.

Absolutely beautiful food and fantastic, attentive staff

Avoid at all costs! We chose this place as it was ranked 18th on trip advisor and fancied something a little different. It should have been telling when there was only 4 other diners in the entire place when we arrived, on a Saturday night. The staff did not come across as confident - there were 3 in total. There was no atmosphere and strangely a restaurant that did not smell of delicious dishes being produced in a kitchen - there was .... nothing. The decor cheap but effective. We opted for 3 courses for £20, off the minimal menu. Chicken flutes which my partner did enjoy albeit he said they were mini fajitas. I took the tempura veg - the best part was the chilli jam which was rather nice. Our mains - enchiladas and chicken in a creamy sauce. Neither of us enjoyed these - chicken which was not fresh and clearly the same chicken my partner had in his starter. The rice was overcooked and resembled that of microwave rice out a bag covered in cheese. The best part of our mains was the side salad - fresh and crispy. Now we come to the desserts - sticky toffee pudding which was reminiscent of canned steam pudding - this was tasty at least. Churros served with the most disgusting chocolate sauce I have ever tasted!!!! I brought this to the sheepish staff's attention to which I was told she would speak to the kitchen - nothing else was said on the matter. To top it all, our drinks were pretty bad too - asked for a pepsi after enquiring about the options - was given a pepsi max as that was all they had. The White Zinfandel wine ( Roller girl ) was dark and jammy - not pleasant. Overall an underwhelming experience with poor quality food and unprofessional service. We would not recommend and will not return.

Fabulous food at a decent price, great portion sizes and exceptional service from the friendly staff. All the food was delicious and obviously cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients, i would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Myself and mum visited THE MEXICAN for a meal as we hadn't been for a long time. What can I say. The warmest welcome from the staff and owners. Greeted like family. So refreshing to have such lovely people running the place. We had 3 courses I had the most amazing stuffed cheesy peppers and mum had spicy chicken wings. Piping hot, superb presentation and extremely yummy. Next, I had Chilli Beef Quesadilla and mum had mixed sizzling fajitas. Omg. Mouth watering. I never get sick of the food here. The quality is superb and the flavours are to die for. Soooo good. Lastly we had fried cheesecake and..... I can't remember the name like a sweet pastry with sugar that you dip in chocolate..... Churro??? We had never tried that but omg it was sooo good. Mmmm I'm drooling writing this haha. We had a really lovely evening with lots of laugh. The place was extremely clean, well socially distanced and all covid measures in place. 100 percent guys. Well done and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Don't worry about these idiots leaving you problems. It's obvious to anyone else that they are fake reviews and we know where from!The Mexican is our favourite restaurant in Perth!

Me and my Boyfriend came here for a nice dinner, was a waste of money! waiting staff were rude and managment was no better! I waited almost 2 hours for my meal when it came it had hair in it and after all the hassle for a small plate it didnt even taste nice! it looked like something a baby passed through. Our waiter dumped our food on the table and stomed away! When i mentioned about my waiting time and asked to speak to management I was in the wrong! DO NOT RECOMMEND! will not be back! not to mention the bad smell throughout the restaurant & lack of social distancing & no masks!

Absolutely horrible place never coming back food was all cold took far to long to arrive in the first place, customer service was no where near respectful, asked to speak to the owner and all I was told was that I was in the wrong, how could I be in the wrong for just sitting and waiting for my food, do NOT recommend this place to anyone, complete waste of time and money

Awful Had someone tell me this was a “high class establishment” well that couldn’t have been further from the truth! Disgusting restaurant would have given 0 stars for cleanliness! Seen staff sneezing into their hands then touching plates! Waited over and hour for Luke warm disgusting food that tasted of soggy cardboard and left with an upset stomach (probably food poisoning) staff were rude and clearly haven’t been trained properly as our order was wrong 3 times and when approached by management they were equally as useless, shocking customer service and will never recommend this business to anyone!! Steer clear unless you like tasteless soggy lukewarm food and staff who couldn’t tell their backside from their elbow

During lockdown my wife and i decided to try the large munchie box from the mexican, it genuinely fed us two days in a row, we also had the mothers day high tea (with margaritas) again too much for one sitting. First off the prices may be slightly more for a takeaway, however this isnt a transitional takeaway. This is a restaurant surviving by doing takeaways. The food is amazing, really varied but all extremely tasty and hot, also and as said before portion sizes are massive. The friendliness and helpfulness of staff also deserves massive recognition. I have recommended the place to family and friends and none have been disappointed.

Good food a limited menu understandably because of the current situation but still plenty to pick from and generous portions served by helpfull and friendly staff in well spaced environment will definitely be back

Mi marido, mi hijo y yo volvimos a comer aquí después de una agradable comida allí en una visita a Perth el año pasado y no nos decepcionó. Las mesas estaban bien espaciadas y nos sentimos bastante seguros para comer. Decidí estar bastante saludable y opté por el salmón, que normalmente no elijo cuando la elección incluye platos con mucho queso, pero estaba muy bien cocinado y yo realmente lo disfruté. Mi marido y mi hijo disfrutaron de sus enchiladas vegetarianas. De alguna manera nunca había probado churros antes y compartí un plato con mi hijo - qué delicioso para algo aparentemente tan simple - ¡la salsa de chocolate era increíble! Sí, había una camarera, como han mencionado otros críticos, pero cuando las empresas solo pueden ofrecer la mitad (o menos) de la cantidad normal de mesas, tienen que emitir juicios sobre niveles sostenibles de personal. Si no tienes prisa, esperar un poco no es un gran sacrificio para poder disfrutar de una comida deliciosa. Nosotros definitivamente estaremos de vuelta.

Felt very for the waitress tonight, as she was the only person serving drinks and food to all tables on a busy Saturday night. Unsurprisingly it took nearly an hour for any food to be served to our table, meaning we nearly missed out post-dinner drinks booking elsewhere in town. The food itself was of very poor quality, with no interesting flavour. I could’ve had a more authentic Mexican experience if I’d stayed at home with an Old El Paso meal kit. The meal was not particularly cheap either, I wouldn’t say that £20 for 2 courses of tasteless, yet unnecessarily spicy food, is a good deal. This is the first review I’ve ever left for a restaurant, such is the strength of my negative feeling towards this place, a truly terrible dining experience. Do better!

Reservamos para una comida familiar ya que el restaurante tenía buenas críticas, lamentablemente la experiencia no cumplió con nuestras expectativas. Reservado para 7. 30 pm, el servicio fue extremadamente lento, ¡una camarera sirviendo todas las mesas! ! ! ¡Los platos principales no llegaron hasta las 9 pm! No se dieron detalles para servir cócteles, jarras de jarra con vasos pequeños en la mesa, nada como lo que esperábamos. La comida era normal. Como reservé esto como una celebración familiar, me decepcionó bastante.

A fantastic and wonderful little restaurant on one of the main streets in Perth. The atmosphere of the place is relatively relaxed but the traditional music playing makes the experience worth it. The choice of food is worth a trip back to try another dish. The staff were great and very knowledgeable about the food and the spice thermometer. Worth a visit. Will go back.

Nuestra segunda visita, se detuvo en el camino a casa después de nuestras vacaciones. No decepcionoEs bueno ver las medidas de covid 19 en su lugar desde la llegada en adelante. Recibimos un servicio amable, un ambiente relajado y excelente comida.Todos optamos por el menú fijo, que era de 2 platos por 20, que tenía una buena relación calidad-precio y comida de alta calidad.

Visitamos The Mexican en la calle 1 de agosto, justo después de que reabrieran debido a las restricciones de Covid 19. Se adaptaron maravillosamente a la nueva forma de trabajar, probando nuestras temperaturas al entrar, distanciándonos socialmente de otros clientes, proporcionando desinfectante de manos y cubriendo la cara en todo momento. La comida fue excelente, comimos fajitas, burritos, quesadillas y varios entrantes. El burrito de puerco desmenuzado era particularmente agradable. Hubo varios artículos que no pudieron servir debido a las restricciones de la cadena de suministro de Covid 19, pero esto no restó valor a la experiencia y es completamente comprensible. El personal de servicio fue maravilloso, muy atento y excelente con nuestros niños, quienes recordarán su experiencia durante mucho tiempo. gracias El mexicano, esperamos que te vaya bien y te recuperes bien de la situación de Covid 19 para que podamos volver un año más!

Después de un día con amigos, todos fuimos a cenar a The Mexican. He visitado el restaurante anteriormente con amigos y nunca me ha decepcionado. Una gran decoración con un toque latino. El restaurante es cálido y acogedor, además de un buen acceso para personas con problemas de movilidad. El personal es muy servicial y amable y se toma el tiempo para explicar los platos. ¡Pedimos una variedad de entrantes que estaban muy sabrosos! Las comidas principales fueron geniales. Las fajitas son fantásticas. Toda la comida es genial. Definitivamente vale la pena una visita y si pudiera dar 10 de cada 10 lo haría. ¡Una experiencia gastronómica brillante!

Pedí la caja de bocadillos mexicanos para la entrega esta noche y fue increíble. Michelle fue muy comunicativa y amigable durante la semana cuando hicimos el pedido, el pago fue muy fácil y ella fue muy organizada. La comida llegó justo a tiempo y estaba deliciosa, caliente y fresca. Valió la pena cada centavo y queda mucho para el almuerzo de mañana. El mexicano es nuestro restaurante favorito y estamos ansiosos por volver una vez que vuelvan a abrir. ¡Gracias de nuevo Michelle!

Gran comida familiar para celebrar el segundo cumpleaños de mi sobrino Charlie. Teníamos algunos cupones de Itison, pero eso no tuvo ningún impacto en la experiencia gastronómica.Tenía un burrito, al igual que mi cuñado, mis padres y mi hermana tenían varios tipos de fajitas.Tengo que decir que me sorprendió gratamente. Soy un gran admirador de la comida mexicana, ¡desafortunadamente los buenos restaurantes mexicanos en Escocia son raros! Hay una pareja en Edimburgo que realmente me gusta, pero como vivo en Perth, ¡eso no me sirve de mucho! Así que fue sin mucha emoción que llegué a The Mexican, pero a medida que avanzaba la noche, no solo me hicieron comer un maldito Burrito, sino también mis palabras. ¡Fue excelente! ¡Realmente me molesta que me haya tomado tanto tiempo cenar allí!Una mención especial tiene que ir a nuestra camarera (cuyo nombre no recuerdo, lo siento), que fue excelente. Muy atento, genial con los niños, e hizo que la noche fuera muy fácil y agradable. Estoy deseando volver y conseguir unos Burritos entregados!

One star is kind. Started off poorly as they only had one flavour of jarritos, the combo starter was good ill give them that. Service was slow I was in an hour and didn't have my main. The waitress took drink orders and never brought the drinks, she was rather absent. The quesadilla was a mess, running all over the plate and just bland. Not all it's cracked up to be. I will give it a swerve in future.

Muy decepcionado por la experiencia esta vez. Mis amigos y yo estábamos ansiosos por esto, como lo habían hecho varias veces en el pasado. Sentir que la comida no está a la altura de lo que solía ser y era muy soso. La comida de mis amigos estaba cubierta con una salsa de barbacoa y la salsa cajún era terrible. El pollo sabía a hervido. Las fajitas eran insípidas sin guacamole o condimento en pollo y verduras y muy pequeñas. Este lugar solía servir muy buena comida mexicana fresca y sabrosa y ahora siento que realmente no dice 'mexicano' y algunos si es fresco. Estoy bastante seguro de que mi entrante fue comprado en Costco ya que obtuve lo mismo allí. el menú no es fácil de leer y el servicio fue lento. El personal era amable y tuvimos un descuento debido a problemas que tuvimos. Realmente creo que necesitan volver al tipo de comida y sabores que tenían hace unos años, ya que ahora no lo recomendarán y no volverán

Second time we've been here for dinner, again the quality and service was outstanding!! Food is simply delicious and freshly made, and the staff are very friendly and make you feel at home!! Worth the 120mile round trip! Will definitely be back!!

Great food and excellent service. The key lime pie however was actually lemon !! However the manageress made no excuses which was refreshing so we will be going back.

Visited with friends on their recommendation. Nice surroundings but could have been cleaner. Food was just OK for a Mexican. Have had better and have had worse.

Tuve mi baby shower aquí y todo fue increíble, fue una gran fiesta de más de 25 años. El personal fue muy atento y nadie tuvo que esperar mucho para comer o beber. 2 invitados no tenían gluten y también un huésped vegano y todos los invitados comentaron lo increíble que era la comida, ¡especialmente las fajitas de pollo! Los recomendaría siempre. Visito regularmente al mexicano con mi pareja y lo recomendaría encarecidamente, nunca me ha decepcionado.

We were a group of 8 friends out to celebrate a birthday. First of all they didn’t seem to have our booking but we were told we could have a table because another party hadn’t turned up. That was fine and we ordered. All the drinks were brought out separately which again was fine if inefficient. We all had starters which were good but small portions. Mains were okay too. I had the fajitas with chicken. It was quite dry but Mexican food isn’t my favourite so I wasn’t too bothered. We were never offered more drinks and eventually asked for a jug of water. One of the few desserts on the menu was unavailable and there was no decaf coffee for my friend as ‘they’d run out last night’ we were informed. All of this I could’ve lived with until about 9.45pm and we were the last table. Some of the waitresses were leaving and shouted “bye” very loudly clearly in an attempt to get our table to leave. In my view this is appalling behaviour. We are paying customers. It wasn’t that late and some of our table were still finishing their coffee. This is a terrible way to make customers feel. I have worked in customer service roles and this would never be tolerated in any of the places I have worked. I certainly won’t be back and definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Always a lovely time when at the Mexican. Food and drink are great and staff are always so welcoming too! Would always recommend and love it every time I come in.

We arrived on Saturday evening - it was busy at one point as the Perth Races were on but it was well managed. The staff were very quick to make sure we had drinks and the food was brought out at just the right times for us. We had a very pleasant evening, highly recommended and we will be back

Stopped in on chance and were given a table no problem. Food was good, we have eaten in a few Mexican restaurants and this one didn't disappoint. Fab staff, they were so helpful. Only disappointment was that they didn't have Margaritas.

We've eaten here a few times now and if I'm honest the service has been on the decline since the first visit.

Nice atmosphere, relaxed feel to it. The food wasn't bad and wasn't crazy expensive either. I'd have liked more spicy dishes but that's just personal preference.

Good meal but very noisy. Staff were very good at explaining what was or want gluten free.

My birthday choice for family night out. Been once before a few years back. Not disappointed as reception was welcoming with complimentary tortilla chips answer a strawberry iced margarita. The food was well prepared and very tasted. Unlike our last visit we all enjoyed the fodder as it was not only empowering. Prices were not unreasonable and would definitely go back again.

Despite being busy, we were shown to a nice quiet table for two. Food great taste and value. Nice friendly relaxed dining. Can't wait till our next visit.

Went for a family occasion, had very high hopes as per the reviews but I wasn’t overwhelmed at all. The staff were really nice, particularly a really young girl with brown hair but what we had wasn’t anything different from what you make at home. My nephew had chicken fajitas and was still hungry after he had finished it...4 small tortilla’s with chicken. No spice. Also same for the vegetable fajitas, nice enough but nothing special. Coke/Diet Coke £2.55 for a regular size glass which didn’t taste good at all...suspect it was a cheap brand. I’d maybe go back to try something else from the menu. Nice enough place, just don’t get the 5 star reviews.

Been there on a number of occasions and they never let you down on quality. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Reasonably priced as well.

Great food here. You get a wee complimentary margarita slush and home made nachos on arrival. Try the combo main which is has samples of all the main dishes.

Was not impressed, family outing and we normally have clean plates all round, but lots of food left! Was not tasty and just did not like the food, especially the chicken.
