We went today with a party of ten- great menu and we were very well looked after- michael deserves a raise- great at his job

Great accommodation on the outskirts of Dalkeith. A short walk or drive and you are into the town centre or the train station where you can access Edinburgh. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and there was a great cooked breakfast with quality ingredients. The breakfast was waiter service rather than buffet, which was good because all of the food was freshly cooked and piping hot. There’s lots of good parking too.

Xmas eve lunch very busy and prices were fine as was food.. But the service was excellent.. Staff overworked but still friendly and professional.

Had a lovely Sunday dinner in a comfortable setting with outstanding service from Aleetzia.

Everything was amazing. The whole experience was very welcoming with brilliant service. The food was exceptional and we especially loved the mocktails we had.

Me and my family came in yesterday for Xmas dinner and we were not disappointed. The staff were absolutely amazing and made us feel very welcome. Lauren looked after us and she was absolutely amazing. Food was outstanding and came out presented so well. Nothing was to much trouble. The manager as well was so lovely. Thank you so much for making our xmas day. The staff had a lovely vibe going and it was a lovely atmosphere. So good that we have booked our xmas meal for next year. We will be back before then though. Well done to everyone this is how a place should run. ❤️

We were severed by Blair. He knows his stuff as very pleasant, a great host. The food was lovely and large portions. Great atmosphere! This is the fourth time we have been and we shall be returning to enjoy a meal in the future.

Michael was absolutely fantastic with our table of 22 people. We have been for the past 3 years but this year was extra special to my family with losing our grandad who would usually be with us. Appreciated so much and back again next year!

Our family pre-Christmas dinner was spoilt by the terrible food served. There were cold, overcooked roast potatoes (my husband counted 10)which took up half the plate, the Yorkshire pudding was small, served with 2 slices of turkey. The gravy boat was half filled with gravy and half an inch of oil. They eventually returned with beef dripping gravy (for steak). There was a small portion of Brussels sprouts and dried up parsnip to be shared between 4 people!!! My grandson could not chew the tough fried steak and gave up eating as it was not edible. The waiter took off £30 for the complaint but really, we all left 3/4 of food on each plate. We will be going somewhere else next year.

I stayed here with my dad on a trip to visit Edinburgh. It's very close to the park and ride so easy to get in and out of the city. The rooms were lovely and it was just a short walk for breakfast in the mornings. The staff were some of the most friendly and helpful people I've encountered, truly an impressive and lovely team. Would definitely recommend. You often get these cards to prompt you to leave a review, but I wouldn't be leaving this if they didn't make such an impression on me. Thanks to Lauchlan who served us at dinner!

We had a delicious family Sunday Roast that was AMAZING value. Blair was our waiter and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. There was 9 of us so we kept him busy! As a Vintage member I'm so glad all the family enjoyed their meal and the Service was fantastic.

Had a really comfortable stay, the room was lovely, I stayed for 3 nights and had a comfortable sleep each night. The room had air con which was much appreciated. Lovely large walk in shower with shower gel / shampoo. Nice size TV. My only issue was food at the adjoining restaurant. I had a pizza which was chewy and the edges inedible, one morning with my breakfast I asked for an extra piece of toast for which I was charged £3.95! I think very excessive for a slice of toast! But I would certainly stay at the hotel again and highly recommend.

Lovely family friendly hotel. Rooms kept nice & clean + all staff really friendly, if looking for a nice meal the on site restaurant does a lovely breakfast & main meal with good choices on the menu. Location wise not too far from Edinburgh City Centre/Airport etc plus roughly 30 minute drive along the coast to North Berwick which has some stunning beaches 👌👌

Really lovely place, staff very friendly. Really easy to get to by car, but satnav doesn't quite tell you the right way. You need to go to Dobbies which is next door, and there are signs to get there. Parking easy, rooms lovely, breakfast great - all in all, a great short stay.

Stopped at the Melville Inn for dinner after a day out. It was great that we were allowed inside with our dog 🐕 they had dog treats at the entrance that felt welcoming for people stopping in with their furry friend 🐶 food was lovely and staff were friendly. I will definitely return if back in the area again 😊

A favourite place to visit. Unfortunately on this occasion the food was not up to the usual high standard. My wife's Sea Bass was course and the prawn sauce was unappetising. My Hunters Chicken was overcooked and therefore tough. Service and staff were excellent and very attentive.

Despite it's name, The Melville Inn as a gastro pub, rather than a a place to stay, so no stars for rooms. I have used The Melville Inn several times over the past few years, and always find the staff to be professional, but not distant. With a genuine willingness to help. The food has always been good. I've given a score of 4 stars for location. Although The Melville Inn is not situated centrally (that's why it doesn't get 5 stars), I don't consider it an awkward place to get to, and I use public transport. It is, after all, a country pub.

Will definitely be coming back again soon so glad I found this wee gem!

Came in for Sunday roast. Restaurant was really busy but Nicole managed to get us a table for 2 by the fire.

Firstly the staff were lovely and welcoming, the food was served promptly and was delicious. The decor and atmosphere made it an enjoyable and relaxing experience.

Brilliant pub. Buffet food was exceptionally good quality, not the standard boring sausage rolls and sandwiches. Great value for money.

Food was nice, service was a bit slow, although it was busy. A wee smile now and again from a few of the staff would help as well.

Great hotel to explore Edinburgh from. Bus stops in front of the door, take bus 3 or 29 to the center. The restaurant is fine, good breakfast and dinner. Service is super friendly.

No complaints. The hotel was clean and had everything that we needed, plus having the restaurant / pub next door is very helpful. Service was prompt and the staff were friendly. Location was fine for us, 20mins taxi from the airport and close to where we needed to go.

Fantastic food and great location, staff are all very friendly and being dog friendly was an added bonus meaning our family could take our dog along. Nice wee touch having dog treats and water bowls near the entrance and Poo Bags if required. The food was the best we have had whilst dining out for a long time and we will definitely be returning again soon

Rooms are nice and large. We had dinner and breakfast here, and both were fantastic. We did wait a little bit initially to be served for dinner, but it's not more than to be expected when busy.

Good service from Blair. If the food were any better it would be average. Crushed potato rather than mashed potato. I had turkey and mushroom pie. All the mushroom,whole closed cup mushrooms, were at one side of the Pie and all the chunks of turkey at the other.

Food was great, service was great but I feel terrible because I paid my bill using my phone then realised I didn't have my purse to tip with cash like I usually do the guy that served us was super nice as well but we will be back and we shall remember to bring cash for tips next time!

Perfect for our stay in Edinburgh. Bus stop 5 minutes walk with a direct line to the city center. Quiet and relaxing place. The rooms are well equipped. The restaurant is charming, impeccable service and very good food. Small original cocktail.

Lovely staff and excellent food and service

Stopped by whilst out on the motorbikes for a quick lunch. Unlike some places, there were no disparaging looks because of our bike gear, in fact our waitress, a young lady whose name, unfortunately escapes me, had a lovely conversation with us about the bikes. The food was very good, a decent choice of 0% alcohol beers, and great service. Can't ask for much more.

Great staff but I did not enjoy the salad as much. The shrimp were just tossed on cold, which was not super tasty.

Nice food but small portions and high prices

Went for dinner here last Saturday. Originally booked a table for four people at 7pm, however, we had two extra people that wanted to join so went inside to speak with the staff to see if they could accommodate. They were friendly, and advised they could accommodate six people if we moved our table sitting time to 7.30pm, which we agreed to. We arrived and were told where our table was, all okay. Lots of people in the restaurant, as expected on a Saturday night, though we did not expect to be left waiting till nearly 8.20pm for someone to come over to our table! No one even came over to recognise we were waiting. We ordered and waited a while for the food to come out. When the food was delivered, no one asked us if we required anything else (like sauce or drinks). Some guests went to the bar to order their drinks, and to also ask for some ketchup for me. The ketchup never came, so I had to get up over half way through my dinner to ask again. One of our guests sent their starter back (that they ordered to come out at the same time as their main), and another had so much fat on their steak it was ridiculous. My dinner was missing onion rings, the gherkin, and sauce it should have come with, though I didn’t realise this till I went back to my room and looked back at the menu. Two guests ordered fish, which had undercooked batter and dry flesh. When we raised the fish issue to the server when he came to clear us, his explanation sounded a bit ‘fishy’, making us think the fish actually comes in frozen and isn’t prepared on site. I went back into the restaurant about 45 minutes after we left to complain. I didn’t want to complain in front of our guests. The staff explained that they had multiple people call in sick, so they were pushed for service, but that they would pass my comments over to their GM so they could contact me to discuss further, surprisingly, no one has reached out. The customer service from this restaurant is really lacking. The only positive from my experience here was that I could take my dog into the restaurant. There were poo bags, treats, bowls, and water available at the front door, which was a nice touch.

Everything was 10/10. Blair and Michael were wonderful and made us feel very welcome!

Great location just off Edinburgh bypass, lots of safe parking, warm welcome, rooms very clean & cheerful. We were on level 2 and used efficient lifts due to health issues, pub and beautiful spacious gardens superb. Very handy for bus into Edinburgh just across the road, a 29 or 3 goes every 15 mins took only 30mins to get to Princess St £2 each way. Breakfast was lovely hot or cold and great choice, nice eating area, tables spaced out well and very attentive staff. The pub clearly has an excellent reputation not just for people staying there but day shoppers, outlets close by. Can make waiting for food a little lengthy at peak times. Very dog friendly as well with good signage telling you this and free treats! The only tip I would suggest for other visitors is to bring a make up mirror to position by window as lighting in bathroom mirror is poor. The windows do not open but there is Aircon, it was sunny outside and rooms were comfortable for sleeping. Great place great location would definitely return.

Had lunch here with my daughter. Food was average. No atmosphere. Staff polite. Thought we would give this place another chance after an absolutely shocking valentine's night meal. All I can say is it was a slight improvement. Personally I wouldn't book again for any special occasions

We had a lovely time. The place is so quaint and cute, we got tasty drinks and the food was delicious. we ordered the mac and cheese and sea bass! Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Blair, our waiter was very nice and offered amazing customer service. I would recommend everyone to try this place!
