We came for a meal with my parents on 21/12/24 who we only see a few times a year, we planned this Xmas meal and a stay in the hotel months in advance. On arrival at the bar we were told there was no soft drinks on pump which ok we can buy bottles, but no soda water, no lemonade as my dad drinks shandy. Anyway then after being seat led we were presented with a list of foods they don’t have which was half the menu ! We had paid for the as set menu but had to change as most was not available. Staff went on to tell us how the manager had gone and bought food out of her own pocket from the Lidl on sight and had spent over 5k ! And that the turkey in the Xmas dinner would be what we expected as was sandwich slices. Anyway we ordered as best we could. Soup was nice but cold and clearly just a shop bought tomato and basil. We then waited 1hour 40mins for the main, which we had to chase on several occasions. When it did arrive wasn’t too bad. But the advertised Xmas tree pizza for my grandson was a cheap 40p round one ! Really shouldn’t have been open just ripping people off with cheap food.

Visited here expecting it to be like other brewers fayre establishments. We ordered two turkey roast dinners, they were served with 3 slices of processed turkey out of a packet. The small Yorkshire puds were no better than frozen aunt bessies. This meal was inferior to what I cook at home and not what I expected to pay for.

My wife and i had the misfortune of booking our Xmas lunch there for 3.30pm. We had to wait over 45 minutes for our starter which was only prawn cocktail and did not require cooking. The cocktail was a bit disappointing and not very imaginative for a special Xmas meal. The table next to us and one behind us had been waiting for well over an hour before their starters arrived and then their order was not complete and had to wait another 15 minutes for all their starters to arrive. Our Turkey main course eventually arrived and was just piled high with food and not well presented. I felt very sorry for the young waitresses who had to keep apologising to everyone and said that the problem was with the kitchen and the organisation. We witnessed plates of food being brought out of the kitchen and then taken back in again and our dirty plates took an age to be removed. There was obviously insufficient staff to cope. We finally left at just after 5pm but the table next to us who had some young children had still not received their desserts having been there since 2.30pm. On leaving we me met some other extremely disgruntled customers in the car park who had managed to get reimbursed for their drinks bill due to the chaotic situation. This was not a cheap meal at over £50 a head plus the drinks. The whole situation was reminiscent of 'Faulty Towers' and was good cabaret and quite amusing but unfortunately not acceptable. The management team failed dismally.

Normally stop here for a quick bite. Decided to try the festive menu tonight. Clearly staff aren’t too aware of it even though it’s on the menu!! Rude manager saying it wasn’t available then another, pleasant member of staff, saying it is. Next fiasco was the vegetarian nacho, basically crisps, bacon bits, vegetarian sausage bits and cranberry sauce. No cheese, spring onions, salsa and chillies like on the menu. Clearly the chef isn’t aware of the menu yet as well!! Waitress was apologetic and said she would look into it only to be told she had left it with the manager and chef. Hmmm nothing happened, no surprise with Mrs Grumpy. Rant over.

We booked a table from the Premier Inn for 7pm....we got our food at 9.05pm! When it finally came out it was hot and delicious. Thanks chef for a perfect blue steak, but there was a really contrasting mix of customer service. Being told it's 'circumstances beyond our control' and then avoiding us is not acceptable. However, the lovely server who apologised and brought our drinks to the table was outstanding and I am only sorry we don't know her name. We understand lots of other customers were in the same situation, but, be honest, preferably sooner rather than later, so people can go elsewhere if necessary

Having arrived at 18.40 and waited 5 minutes to be seated, we gave up waiting and sat down in the restaurant area where over 50% of the tables were empty. A woman in a grey hoodie asked if we had been seated by anyone or if we were staying at the Premier Inn. I replied “no” to both and was told to leave as all tables were allegedly fully booked; not one was marked reserved and there were no waiting patrons. Having previously had low quality meals here, we tended to use the place purely for its convenience to the ferry but this was a final call. All I can say is that to have a half empty “fully booked” pub at 18.40 on a Monday night staffed by poorly presented staff in hoodies, really is neither appealing nor conducive to good business. As I type, we are seated at a much more welcoming pub in Harwich which again has empty tables but seated us without issue in a friendly and welcoming manner.

Appouring level of service all week both for the evening meals and breakfasts. Several of us had an hour wait for starters to be served and then main courses being served whilst starters were still being consumed. A colleague has his main course served before his starter came. Food is cheap but is very reasonable for what you get. Good quantity and would be great if you didn't have to wait so long for it. Staff are not well trained but maybe that is because of the area. Unexpected for a large franchise where training should be regulated to a standard. Overall. Not a good experience and would not recommend, particularly with the breakfast stall being so rude.

The staff were nice to me (but there was a customer who was threatened to not be served because he walked past the waiting stand) and served my food quickly. I ordered the trio roast dinner which is turkey, gammon and beef with the regular sides (potatoes, vegetables etc). Unfortunately, the restaurant was out of turkey - that may be a good thing as the other meats were drier than sandpaper - and the menu was fasley advertised. In the menu, there was a photo of the food I had ordered, trio of the meats; beef, turkey and gammon, two yorkshire puddings, potatoes, stuffing squares, cabbage, carrots, and gravy. I was served one yorkshire pudding, carrots, potatoes, a plate full of gravy, no cabbage, no stuffing. I understand if there is a shortage of food in the kitchen but I'd like to know if there was, otherwise, I've been cheated. Beside the shortage of food (also meaning the tiny portions), I paid for the unlimited drink. The machine was easy to use despite the syrup for the Dr Pepper drink failing to mix, the other drinks worked. The ice machine was also a simple machine to use and the ice was shaved and seemed fresh. Then, for dessert, I ordered the vegan £4.99 triple chocolate brownie. It was warm and tasteful. Unfortunately, the tables were sticky and still marked with circles from where the previous customers had spilt their drink. The brick walls hadn't been dusted, they were really dusty and smothered in webs. Usually, I wouldn't mind this but the fact that the table was up against this dust collecting wall, I'm concerned about the cleanliness of this restaurant. Overall, two stars because of the tasteless dinner and dirty tables. Two starts because of the edible desert. Could be better and cleaner.

Although we had booked a table in advance we were informed on arrival there would be a minimum of about 40 minutes wait for food as they were busy!!! This would not have been much of an issue but when you have two young hungry children with you it was a pain. The food when it arrived was good and we had no complaints.

Had a lovely meal from mayflower Chinese last night. Great value for money. Portions were huge and like the fact there's so much choice on the menu. And the value meals are well worth the price. Thank you

ordered last night, 3 very disappointed adults and a waste of money, my meal and the quality of the meat was bad very fatty lamb it also seemed like it wasn't entirely lamb looking by the colour of the meat and tasted like there was piece of pork. no flavour what so ever just taste like naga sauce. won't be returning!

What a Crap Chicken Shish ☹️ Worst I’ve ever had. They put it in the Pitta Bread so by the time I got home it was Soggy and Cold. Nothing wrapped tight to keep it warm. I only had to drive Kirby to Holl on Sea. I went in to pay and they said I had to order on-line 🤨 Whaaaaaa …. So I’m stood there in the shop in front of em ordering on me bleedin phone 🤨 Crazy.

Service gets poor , always things from you order get forgot. Check before you go. Last time while waiting in the car they gave my order to someone else.
