Normally stop here for a quick bite. Decided to try the festive menu tonight. Clearly staff aren’t too aware of it even though it’s on the menu!! Rude manager saying it wasn’t available then another, pleasant member of staff, saying it is. Next fiasco was the vegetarian nacho, basically crisps, bacon bits, vegetarian sausage bits and cranberry sauce. No cheese, spring onions, salsa and chillies like on the menu. Clearly the chef isn’t aware of the menu yet as well!! Waitress was apologetic and said she would look into it only to be told she had left it with the manager and chef. Hmmm nothing happened, no surprise with Mrs Grumpy. Rant over.

We booked a table from the Premier Inn for 7pm....we got our food at 9.05pm! When it finally came out it was hot and delicious. Thanks chef for a perfect blue steak, but there was a really contrasting mix of customer service. Being told it's 'circumstances beyond our control' and then avoiding us is not acceptable. However, the lovely server who apologised and brought our drinks to the table was outstanding and I am only sorry we don't know her name. We understand lots of other customers were in the same situation, but, be honest, preferably sooner rather than later, so people can go elsewhere if necessary

Fantastic restaurant, Friendly staff. Great food nd value for money. Frankie, Simona and Nicole were friendly, welcoming provided service with a smile a real credit to the company. The bar was well tended and i was served quickly and the food was quick to be served once ordered Tables were all clean and tidy with plates cleared away promptly once I finished eating. Breakfast was good with a nice selection of cereal and a full cooked breakfast was also available. One of the best if not the best Brewers Fayre I have been to. Having arrived at 18.40 and waited 5 minutes to be seated, we gave up waiting and sat down in the restaurant area where over 50% of the tables were empty. A woman in a grey hoodie asked if we had been seated by anyone or if we were staying at the Premier Inn. I replied “no” to both and was told to leave as all tables were allegedly fully booked; not one was marked reserved and there were no waiting patrons. Having previously had low quality meals here, we tended to use the place purely for its convenience to the ferry but this was a final call. All I can say is that to have a half empty “fully booked” pub at 18.40 on a Monday night staffed by poorly presented staff in hoodies, really is neither appealing nor conducive to good business. As I type, we are seated at a much more welcoming pub in Harwich which again has empty tables but seated us without issue in a friendly and welcoming manner.

Appouring level of service all week both for the evening meals and breakfasts. Several of us had an hour wait for starters to be served and then main courses being served whilst starters were still being consumed. A colleague has his main course served before his starter came. Food is cheap but is very reasonable for what you get. Good quantity and would be great if you didn't have to wait so long for it. Staff are not well trained but maybe that is because of the area. Unexpected for a large franchise where training should be regulated to a standard. Overall. Not a good experience and would not recommend, particularly with the breakfast stall being so rude.

Where do I start. 3 families on one table all ordered at the same time and was assured that everything would come out at the same time. Yeah right. I had to ask twice for two families starters and the others had finished. Then I guess after I complained we had to wait extra long for the mains Then using the facilities, toilets. Absolutely disgusting. They are on the reception of the Premier Inn. They said.. Nothing to do with us. Was not interested, even though I saw a member of staff use it. Makes me wonder about them. It was one of the worst I have seen. The Brewers Fayre staff were not that interested too. I am sorry. But the disgusting state of the toilets for the men they should have been closed. Have eaten well here many times but this time was poor. The waiting staff deserve credit for maintaining a smile, whilst the cost cutting measures are evident all around. The food is edible yet unappealing, the decor is very tired, table service is now order at bar, tea and coffee is self service from the most inaccessible place beyond the queue for the bar and adjacent to the kitchen…utter chaos. Don’t use the loos; the gents stinks and is running in urine. Loud background Muzak plays throughout. Never again.

Stupid decision not to run tabs for sit down tables in the restaurant any more. To me that means: only have what’s included in the meal deal, and no seconds or extra drinks. Short sighted, on the other hand: is this one of the places set to be closed soon??

The staff were nice to me (but there was a customer who was threatened to not be served because he walked past the waiting stand) and served my food quickly. I ordered the trio roast dinner which is turkey, gammon and beef with the regular sides (potatoes, vegetables etc). Unfortunately, the restaurant was out of turkey - that may be a good thing as the other meats were drier than sandpaper - and the menu was fasley advertised. In the menu, there was a photo of the food I had ordered, trio of the meats; beef, turkey and gammon, two yorkshire puddings, potatoes, stuffing squares, cabbage, carrots, and gravy. I was served one yorkshire pudding, carrots, potatoes, a plate full of gravy, no cabbage, no stuffing. I understand if there is a shortage of food in the kitchen but I'd like to know if there was, otherwise, I've been cheated. Beside the shortage of food (also meaning the tiny portions), I paid for the unlimited drink. The machine was easy to use despite the syrup for the Dr Pepper drink failing to mix, the other drinks worked. The ice machine was also a simple machine to use and the ice was shaved and seemed fresh. Then, for dessert, I ordered the vegan £4.99 triple chocolate brownie. It was warm and tasteful. Unfortunately, the tables were sticky and still marked with circles from where the previous customers had spilt their drink. The brick walls hadn't been dusted, they were really dusty and smothered in webs. Usually, I wouldn't mind this but the fact that the table was up against this dust collecting wall, I'm concerned about the cleanliness of this restaurant. Overall, two stars because of the tasteless dinner and dirty tables. Two starts because of the edible desert. Could be better and cleaner.

As a 'valued member' we booked a table for Mother's Day lunch after receiving an email offering us this. When we arrived we were informed that our table had been double booked and we could only have a 'tall table', and there would be a 1 hour wait. This is not only unprofessional but disappointing as we had not planned for any other food for lunch. We left and we do not plan to revisit a Brewers Fayre after this poor planning and service. We will ensure that others are made aware of this very unprofessional attitude. A busy day on Mother's Day, but where a booking us taken and accepted, this is very poor.

Just been there for Mother’s Day meal which we booked weeks ago, got told would be a long wait for our table as they had over booked and after that least a hour wait for food, didn’t even get offered a drink on the house while we wait, walked out and went else where

Lovely spot, but food was disgusting. I mean, all I had was a tuna baguette, which was rock hard, and there was hardly any mayonnaise. The tuna didn't taste right, and even the chips were bad. Would be nice to see s Soup of the Day on the menu, but to be fair, it would probably be out of a tin and not homemade. The food is overpriced for what you get. I have been to Clacton in the half term, and each time we think no, we will give them another chance as my husband quite enjoyed his meal, but our daughter and I never do. We won't go again. We will go for a drink but that's it. I'm very disappointed. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

After choosing Chinese for our movie night. We went to mayflower. Partner ordered off the set menu (A) I ordered crispy chilli beef and beef chow mein. Beef chow mein was very under cooked had to phone to ask for new one to be delivered disrupting our dinner together. Rice from set menu was hard and definitely not cooked enough. Partner then after a couple hours started suffering from very bad food poisoning. I'm guessing due to the chow mein. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
