Pessimo

Just popped in for morning coffee, and the place was very busy. If you want a leisurely coffee then I recommend booking. We were not rushed, but we were placed on a pre booked table. It was not a problem, and we had over an hour to have a brew and scone. The treacle scones were delicious 😋. Another great experience. Thanks to all the staff.

We have been in the Makers several times and have never been disappointed. Whether just coffee or a meal, the sevice is friendly, attentive, and quick. The place is professionally decorated, well laid out, and spotless. We keep meaning to book an afternoon tea, they look fantastic and so reasonably priced. Warning! it does get busy at lunchtime, so it's best to book a table.

Visited today with work colleagues for lunch and it was fantastic. Warm welcome, delicious food and friendly service. We had fresh homemade soup and sandwiches which were enjoyed by all of us. The afternoon tea also seemed to be popular with other customers and looked fantastic. Would highly recommend.

Eat here quite a lot, I always get the french toast because it is out of this world and I enjoy a tea with the chocolate traybakes dipped. It is shockingly cheap for what you are getting and you need to book tables in advance because they are always fully booked because of how popular they are! Staff are lovely also!

I love coming here! The cafe is modern and always nice and clean. Staff are so friendly and the food is tasty! The afternoon tea is good - it comes with soup, sandwiches and then a selection of cakes, I’m sure it’s only around £6. I came here with a friend and had a very nice lunch. They serve a variety of breakfast options, soup, baked potatoes, sandwiches, toasties, paninis and wraps. I had a panini with roasted vegetables and mozzarella. It came with a dressed side salad, coleslaw and tortilla chips. It was very tasty and, together with a can of juice, cost £5. Good table service from friendly staff. They also offer gluten free options. They had a range of cakes on display too.

Visited Tuesday 14th for lunch with a friend. It was very busy but we got seated quickly and both chose soup and a sandwich. The soup of the day was sweetcorn chowder and it was delicious. Our 2 waiters were very nice and a credit to the cafe. I noticed they had a special Christmas afternoon tea, priced £6.50 which I think included soup, sandwiches and cakes so I'm returning today with my mum as a little treat! I had lunch here about a week ago..... well. I ordered a full sized portion of macaroni. When it finally came, it tasted rotten. Big, chunky pieces of pasta smeared in a thin, unpleasant sauce with four slices of sour tomatoes on top - not something I was happy to pay for, so I went up and asked for an exchange. A tuna toasty and once again they're was a long wait. Anyway, it came and I've tasted better toasties from burger vans! The homemade coleslaw on the side was bitter and nothing to get excited about.I strongly do not recommend.

It is a "contemporary eclectic bistro" trip-advisor, I agree. Came for lunch with family on 25 June. I was impressed by the decor, light are airy, since the bistro having being converted from a century old school. I've mostly accepted that in the UK if an eating establishment is also something else then it's not going to do either function properly. That was just me being prejudiced though, and as with all prejudiced people I am a cretin, because the Bistro is both a lovely gallery space and an excellent Scottish eatery. The menu had lots of interesting choices and a few specials - I settled on a generous sized black pudding, cheddar and baked apple panini, which was delicious. It came served with proper home made coleslaw which is worth visiting for on its own. The side order of wedges I put in was unnecessary but I are them anyway and they were tasty - triple cooked or something, none of your frozen stuff here.I didn't buy any artwork but might have done if I had more time, but had to settle for a bite sized chunk of rocky road by the register. Just what I needed to finish off - only wished I had time for coffee. With a drink I had change from a tenner which is good value for food of this quality. If you're in Alloa for lunch and don't want Indian, go here - it's a lovely place and the food is top notch.

Great place to meet for coffee breakfast or lunch. Top quality ingredients used and you know it. Menu not big but enough to give good choice. This is a wee find in Alloa and brings added value to the community with its In house training programme. We'll done Susan and staff.

This is a great venue set in one of Alloa's old historic school buildings. Food is beautiful all freshly made so although it takes a little longer to get its worth it. I had the homemade quiche with fresh coleslaw and then a dark chocolate scone with fresh coffee. Yummmy...The gallery setting is good to browse for that different gift or purchase for yourself. The Gallery exhibits local artists works and has some excellent workshops if you fancy the hands on approach.

The Makers is a bit difficult to find, but well worth the effort. This very attractive little bistro/cafe (and gallery), with original art on the walls and attractive rustic wooden tables, is located in a converted historic building. It is also a social enterprise training people with mental health issues to work in catering. The meals served are extremely good - the sweet baked potato with chilli makes an excellent lunch. Alloa has very few decent cafes or restaurants; in short, this is my favourite place in Alloa for a light lunch. Closed on Mondays.

I hadn't really come a cross the Bistro before but it is a great wee place t drop in for a coffee, or even a light lunch. Everything is made on the premises with the emphasis on healthy eating. They also have local crafts, sometimes an exhibition, which are available to buy or if you are lucky you can even see them being made. Very helpful staff, and loads of parking on site. Try it out!

A lovely cafe with parking just out of the town centre. Great atmosphere. Local crafts on sale. Good food. Helpful staff. I'm not from Alloa but I meet friends there from time to time and this is definitely the best place we've met up in Alloa. Recommended.

Excellent as usual though due to family commitments, haven't been for some time. Friendly accommodating staff hot food available. No dogs inside but outside tables and chairs, weather permitting. Once you've eaten a brisk 3 mile walk around the loch. What's not to like.
