The Mad Hunter in Lancaster

What can I say.... absolutely divine. Ambience, food, staff and patrons all were second to none.Probably the best restaurant experience I've had to date from walking in to leaving. The food was out of this world....to die for. Will definitely, definitely be going back.

A truly special venue. Exceptional food, variations on the menu since our last visit, suitably refreshing and imaginative. Staff welcoming and helpful.

This is a hidden gem with wonderful views over the bay. The food was imaginative and very good! The service was great. I had the wild boar hot dog which had a wonderful homemade African relish on and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s above a pub called the Palatine so it’s easy to miss. Very nicely presented restaurant and as I’m hoping to move to the area, it may become a regular place for me. Give it a try!!

We went for the exotic burgers of zebra but sadly not on the menu at the time. However, I did have some kangaroo stake and my wife had spicy meat. The food was excellent. Superbly cooked and beautiful presented and is definitely worth going back for. The service is worth a special mention. The server was friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and added value to the experience. I would happily gave given six stars. A great venue.

It was our first visit last night and definitely not our last. All our meals looked amazing and tasted fantastic! We didn't leave a bite..Emu steak was so tasty and perfectly cooked. Malva pudding and chocolate pot were the best we've ever tasted. My husband's family lives in South Africa and even he was impressed. We requested the window seat which was perfect. The restaurant is beautifully presented, with African themed decor and lovely friendly service.

First time dining at the mad hunter, the menu had lots to offer but we went for a Sunday roast which was absolutely amazing. Kris was very friendly & accommodating to us all. The restaurant has such a wonderful atmosphere. Will happily return & recommend!

Great food, wide choice of South African dishes. Menu explained at the table, very helpful. Super decoration and music, but not too loud or intrusive.

Staying in the area for a few days, and fancied trying something different. Absolutely gorgeous food, great staff who were attentive without being too in your face. Will definitely return when next in this part of the country!

If your looking for a Sunday lunch place this is a must the food was great and the service highly recommended.

The Sunday dinner was delicious, I would definitely recommend. I am certainly going back for evening dinner as, not only is the food worth another visit, but the decor and views are fabulous, I would love to see it in the evening with cosy lighting.

Thank goodness The Midland was fully booked! The Mad Hunter is a hidden gem, the South African food was nothing short of amazing and we could hear every table complimenting the food. Great service in a quirky little venue. We will definitely be back! Just missing a castle beer 🏰

Had rib starter and surf and turf!!!! Possibly the tastiest meal ive Ever eaten everything cooked to perfection. With a south african twist it was amazing! The hapiest polite service made the experience even better. And the desert was also fantastic Coming back for sunday roast tomorrow

Ordered the Korean sharing plate of wings for £9 with our food. It came with three wings on it. Really disappointing. Otherwise, the food was good and it’s a nice addition to Morecambe. Not sure about visiting again though after that experience.

What a fantastic place! Atmosphere, decoration and food all amazing! Staff knowledgeable, attentive but not intrusive, helpful. Menu exotic and mouth watering. A great find and a definite revisit soon.
